Integrity. So many are lacking in it, but this place has it in droves! I brought in an instrument that hasnt been used regularly for decades, to get it in shape to give to another generation of potential Ian Anderson proteges. The guy gave it a serious look over and said it was good to go, and while its not a top of the line flute, its certainly good enough for a student.I purchased a couple of items for cleaning it, and was on my way.I very much recommend Twinbrooke Music to anyone who appreciates honesty and integrity.
My kids attended lessons here for years. I have bought drums, guitars, amps and lots more. Joe and the staff always provide great advise on what to buy and what to wait on buying. Yes we have had a few accidents at home with the instruments and all of the instrument repairs were completed quicker than expected and always looked outstanding.
My daughter takes music lessons here on a weekly basis. This store feels like it is owned and run by musicians, not business people. The people at the counter arent super bubbly, but they are knowledgeable and happy to help customers with their questions. The location is convenient, prices are extremely reasonable, and the quality/selection of music classes, instruments, and supplies are outstanding. I would give this store five stars if the music rooms were a bit larger. Otherwise, I am so thankful for this store and the wonderful music lessons my daughter takes there.
This music shop has been around over 30 years. I took drum lessons there in the late 1980s, from middle school thru high school. Recently, my son started playing the drums and we returned to Twinbrooke Music (Braddock Road location.) Still staffed with friendly and knowledgable teachers, who are gigging musicians. Our teacher, Ron is a skilled drummer who is patience with his students — especially kids. They may not have a huge select of drums in the store, but they are able to special order whatever you may need. Id recommend this music shop to anyone in the area.
My first violin teacher, Greg Hiser, teaches here, and being a professional musician/instructor now myself, Ive gotten to know everyone in this store pretty well. The interior has gone through a series of makeovers, and looks much better now than it ever has. The guys at the front are helpful, and if they dont have what you are looking for, they can easily order it and have it in for you within a couple of days. They give a teachers discount comparable to other music stores in the area.Lesson prices are comparable to what you would expect to pay elsewhere. Rental programs are also comparable. With so many chain music stores these days, its always nice to try to support a smaller local business such as Twinbrook Music!
Great store!! The guy with the pony tail was very nice and very knowledgeable. They carry good quality instruments snd have a great guitar lesson program!!
Wow, a real music store...not a corporate monster that gobbles up everything! While it is small, without the selection you get in the monsters, what they do have, and or can get is nice. The guitar techs were knowledgable, and very helpful. For example, I have owned many acoustic basses over the years, and they informed me that they, and 12 strings, should be detuned when not played. I contacted several manufactures about that and they all confirmed that it is a good idea...asked several specialists at the monster shops and they had never heard such a thing. (though breedlove and boulder creek basses have a fix that makes it unnecessary). They host lessons, sell various items, and are more geared for the student, but can order many higher items. Glad that the Borg has not assimilated them!
Perfect place to grab strings.
