Ive been going to Unique for years, about a decade, since I was in college. The staff is always so kind and helpful! Their knowledge is comforting because ya gurl dunno whats going on half the time! I get my equipment from them. I photograph weddings and have to have a good setup. Ive gotten new and used items from lenses to camera bodies from Unique. I definitely lean on them for their camera knowledge for making changes or upgrades. Ive rented from them countless times and the guy who does the rentals is the best. 😊 This is the only place I really trust with things so important!

While trying to find (including B and H) what I thought was a rather useful and common Nikon part, I happened to come upon Unique Photo. Here-to-fore, I had never heard of them. The staff was helpful, but, more importantly, actually had the Nikon dot spot[ter]; nearly all others noted the item was discontinued, no longer available, or could be back-ordered with not estimated shipping date; and then there were those photography stores that did not even have this item on their web site. One prominent photo store had the item but their unhelpful or unresponsive customer / sales staff were just terrible. Additionally, I was made aware of other items on Unique Photos site that I never knew existed. Unique Photo will definitely be a site to visit in the future. Now, if they can just cut a deal with Synchrony Bank to provide a store-specific, sweet-deal credit card (like the other two major NYC photo stores), they would become more widely known.

I will never buy anything from unique photo ever again. I bought a used 180mm macro lens, already had the 100mm and the results were too similar to justify keeping it...called to return was told I had 2 days to return it ...hurried up and drove the 45min to get there. I was interrogated by the salesperson who didnt seem to like that I am returning the lens without it being broken. Then he proceeded to charge me 10% restocking fee...WHAT RESTOCKING?!?! HE PROCEEDED TO JUST PUT THE LENS BACK INTO THE DISPLAY CASE...these lenses arent cheap to begin with 10% is a good chunk of change. F this place, I wish I could give them a rating lower than zero

Bought here once but never ever again.I spent right at 7,600 on first order. In my order I had ordered two SB 700 speed lights, they shipped one and then claimed the other had to be shipped from another location but actually they forgot. I was told I would get a combined discount of about 400 but after they then claim it was only 100 discount but everything on invoice was listed at same original price as was quoted before asking for discount. Upper management at this place are criminal with their actions. I highly recommend no one to buy from this place.

Decently priced with a wide range of things. However, their film lab is not good. Ive used it twice now and both times, Ive only had half of my rolls developed properly. I think its ridiculous that Im paying $10-20 per roll to get developed and have them not come back. One time I paid about $20 get a disposable camera developed and they didnt even open the camera and returned it with no refund. With the scans that I do get back, there is so much dust and scratches on it that youre better off shipping it to an actual professional lab or scanning it at home.

Buyer Beware! Recently I attempted to locate a particular model/color camera for my wifes birthday because who doesnt want to make their significant other happy? Well after hours of searching I finally found a store that showed this camera in stock: Unique Photo. I ordered the camera excited that I had finally found it! Fast forward 4 weeks and here I am, still with no camera. After many discussions with staff at Unique Photo I find out the product marketed in bright green text as IN STOCK is actually back ordered and the best I can get as to when it will arrive is we cannot say. Very unreliable, and a bit deceptive with very little follow through or effort to try and find a solution. I will never shop Unique Photo again.

I came across this place though a Facebook Ad for a photo expo that was happening for three days from Dec 6th to 8th. More I went through the website, the more enticed I was to know more about the classes they were offering over a course of three days and the other photography related services. The classes were very cheap to start with and I enrolled myself to the portrait class by Bobby Lane and Lee Varis on December 8th.I got to the place on time and was surprised by the size of the building and the massive parking space they offered. As I entered the building, I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd that was in and the number of counters they had for every top brand from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Sigma, Panasonic and many more.The class started on time and was very informative. The best thing was that they additionally gave each participant a chip for $10 that you can use towards buying or renting anything from their shop for any later time. Since I’m a Canon user, I quickly zoomed through to their section and tried using a lot of different combo of lenses and bodies, which was great.They even offered free sensor cleaning and I submitted my camera for servicing. I’ve even got an email already that it’s ready for pickup and will give me one more chance to go to the shop again. I’m sure I’ll be getting here often in the future too ;)

This place doesn’t seem to have an urgency to please their customers. I rented a monitor from this place and the cable was faulty. I couldn’t call the same day, since they were closed at that time so I called 1st thing in the morning when they opened. After I spoke with someone, they stated they were going to call me back, but no one did. I was not around to return the monitor since I had to be at a shoot the entire day. I went back the next day to return it and told them about the issue and the guy at the desk said he remember calling yesterday. After he confirms that the cable was the issue, he said that he couldn’t do anything, since he was not the manager. He told me to wait 10-15 minutes for his manager, and after an hour of waiting, he comes back and says that the best he can do is give me 35% off the total price. I reminded him that I was NOT able to use the monitor at all and his response was that anything could have happened from the moment I walked out of the store, which NOTHING happened. Got home, opened it up and it didn’t work. Now, it’s only $70, but making me wait over an hour, then carelessly dismissing my issue and basically insinuating that I might of had caused the cable to malfunction, now they just lost a customer. Plus the manager didn’t even come out to talk to me, when he was the one that gave me the rental in the first place. Very poor customer service and respect for people’s time. It’s unfortunate to have had this bad experience at this store, but I guess it brings to light the way they really care about my business.

Just terrible! (Waste of time & Money)I called earlier today to inquire about a lens (Canon 800mm f11) i was told they have it in stock, i asked sales person on the phone if its new and i was told its brand new direct from Canon.So, then i drive 2hrs in nasty rain to pick it up and find out it was someones returned with hair and dust allover it. This morning I purchased a Nikon D850 that was priced on their website at $2496, I added to the cart and paid, to my surprise the price changed after I clicked the place order button to $2996. I called and asked and apparently they supposed to have a price adjustment that wasnt corrected and instead of honoring the priced asked on the website they actually changed the price on their website as I was placed on hold! Their answer wasis not even in stock we cant give it to you at that price, but we are still have the option to purchase it even though its not mentioned is backordered. Absolutely no help from customer support only to say it, yeah, you are right, I saw it on the website too! But no effort to make it right! I am not going to purchase from them again!

Do not shop here. I bought a used camera in condition good brought it home and the dial disc had fallen off somewhere in transit and the grip of it was actually melting off like it was glued back together with some cheap glue. If you try to take the grip of your camera off, its very secure on there so its obvious this camera was glued back together unprofessionally. I returned it and at first it seemed great that they were willing to stand behind their product/customer. However, they never gave me my money back. I called 2 weeks later and they said it processed on their end but I spoke to my bank and the money went back into my bank account. They said theyd look into it and get back to me. I asked when and the guy said uhh tomorrow. And guess what? They never did. Its been almost a month since I returned this damn thing and I had to file a dispute with my bank.

In a time where respect is the absolute minimum one could ask from another human, the staff showed that they don’t care to show their kindness to paying customers. I was a customer there for years and used to travel to go to the Camera Show every year. I was beyond hurt and disappointed to find they changed, their ethics plummeted, and their attitudes are awful. I wouldn’t recommend them to my enemies. Be nicer to strangers, guys.

I came to Unique Photo not for any camera or photo needs but because they are authorized by Apple to help with Apply Products. I brought my laptop in thinking it came to its end. Kareem H was the gentleman who helped me. Shipped my computer overnight and gave me an abundance of information. I would never go to anywhere else BUT an Apple store for any form of Apple needs. It just so happened Unique Photo was closer to my home other than any Apple store. I am so happy I came here. I ordered a camera and telephoto lens from Unique Photo. I paid for 1 day expedited shipping. They called to verify my payment details. They informed me that all was verified and let me know that the order would be shipped that day. It never was. Instead, they cancelled the order without informing me. When I followed up with their online chat customer support they refused to give me any reason why the order was cancelled and would not inform me who I could speak to about it. I followed up with an email and have not heard back from them. I had the choice between them and Amazon. The price was similar (but Amazon had no extra shipping fee). But, I wanted to give a company besides Amazon my business. Unfortunately, I should have chosen Amazon.

I ordered a printer from this store over a month ago, their website said the printer was in stock, so I paid for expedited shipping. Almost two weeks passed and my order still hadn’t shipped, so I messaged them asking where my printer was. They informed me the printer was on backorder, which would have been really helpful to know prior to placing my order, or even after my payment went through. Instead I had to go out of my way to find information that should have been freely given. They said the order should ship with the next batch of printers they received, but they didn’t know when that was. I checked back in a week later and they said, yes, they got printers, but not enough to fill my order. I have been checking back in weekly since placing the order and every time they can tell me nothing about when my printer will ship. Sometimes it’s β€œoh we don’t know” others it’s β€œit should ship in a week!”. It’s been over a month and it still hasn’t shipped and I’m still getting unhelpful responses. I wanted to support a local business over buying from amazon, but I’m regretting that decision. I will not be ordering from them again.

I walked into Unique Photo today, not expecting to make a purchase. I was greeted by Jessica who was not only personable, but also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I told her what I was looking for (a beginner camera for my teenage daughter) and she helped me find a great camera, at a great price. Revisited:Placed an order & it was seen in stock in the website, order was processed & shipped & unfortunately after i got the package there were wrong items sent in it. Contacted their support team & a full refund was sent back to me immediately. Though was unable to reorder the same product again immediately because it wasnt listed in their site again, but was lucky enough that the same product was listed again in 2 days after contacting the UniquePhoto team. I totally understand sometimes wrong products are sent to customer unintentionally but after having conversations over email with their team i really understood that UniquePhoto is a family owned business & they take care of this company very personally & my issue was resolved as they take feedback very seriously. Love Unique! They are always happy to help. I have been renting practically bi-weekly from them the past summer while I switch my gear over. I havent had any problems and the questions I have had were answered immediately and clearly. One time I had an issue with an online rental and the employee stayed on the phone with me while we sorted out the error. They also started to know who I was after my second visit and that goes far. The place I go to get my coffee every morning doesnt even seem to know me and I call them by name. So, a nice Hello, how are you this morning? Where are you headed to today? How was last weekend? Just wanted to say Thank you, for placing a $39 service charge on a defective body camera that I returned. Saying I kept the AC adapter and Lanyard. No way I can prove those items were in the box when I returned them, but enjoy the $39 and please donate the entire amount to a worthy charity.Improve by not calling me a thief over a 50 cent lanyard and a adapter that is available at any thrift store for 10 cents.

Dropping $3000 on a camera body is no small decision. After shopping around for the best price, I ended up bringing my business to Unique. Not because they were the least expensive for the used camera, but because they were the most helpful and trustworthy. I worked with Ryan Horowitz who was patient and knowledgeable. Furthermore, when I noticed an issue with the camera’s charger a couple weeks later, he remembered me and quickly shipped me out a new one. Unique has a forever customer and I hope to but all my G Master lenses from my new favorite camera store!

I called to confirm the lens I wanted was in stock. I told him that they were the only store with the lens and I was really surprised. He then assured me that the lens was in stock and I would have it within 2 days. I said I wasn’t going to buy it unless I had it in 2 days bc I have a wedding to shoot in 3. Not only did the lens not arrive but I was never informed that the lens went on back order. I’m guessing it was already on back order and they bait and switch me into buying it hoping I would wait. So here is there exact wording off of their FAQ section of the website:Q: How can I tell if an item is in stock?A: The availability of an item will be on its product page. The status will be on the left hand side of the item in green font right above the price.Q: What if an item I ordered is backordered?A: If the item you ordered is on backorder you will receive an email from us within 24 business hours. We will provide you with an estimated arrival time and you can decide if you would like to wait for the item or cancel it.Neither of these two things are true in my case. The item I looked to purchase stated it was in stock. In fact they put a hold on my credit card even though they didnt have the product.And secondly, I never received one email in the entire month I waited about the product being backordered. I had to reach out to them to hear it was on back order and then a few weeks later to find out it was still on back order.I would never deal with this company again. They blamed Nikon and the pandemic in two seperate live chats. Not once did they offer an apology for not staying in touch with me! Look in the mirror!

I recently bought a brand new Nikon Nikkor 35mm ZS F/1.8 lens from Unique Photo from one of their Ebay listings. The sent me my new lens in a box with no cushioning to protect my purchase. A joke of a store. I called to see if they had a d-tap battery charger in stock. The expert who answered the phone asked about the voltage I needed. I said it should be a simple charger for a 12v d-tap battery. The expert said since the voltage from a wall outlet is 120, perhaps 220 depending on whether or not its installed in my house, but its usually 120 volts, so a 12v charger wouldnt work. All I can say is, OMG.

I purchased a drone from Unique last year around Christmas and they were great to work with. The customer service has always impressed me and I was glad to have them to work with after my girlfriend crashed it about a month ago. Even though it had nothing to do with the drone, they helped me with the repair and got me back flying in no time. I would definitely shop here again.

Second time in a row that I called ahead and was told one thing and when I arrived I was told something completely different. Last time it had to do with a tripod I was purchasing and this time I called ahead about a camera repair and the person on the phone went over the entire process. They even told me it would take longer than normal due to the COVID situation. When I arrived to drop it off, I was told they are not taking ANY repairs in at this time. Frustrating !!

Ordered a camera through UniquePhoto. I got the order number and shipping confirmation. UniquePhoto shipped the item but before it reaches me they revoked the item. When I inquired UniquePhoto said it is because of bad address the shipping agency sent the item back to shipper. Later when I check with shipping service with tracking #, it is because of sender request the item returning to the origin place. After all UniquePhoto said they will send it back once they receive item. But UniquePhoto cheated/lied at me. I have been waiting and checking with then almost every day but after a week they flipped their word and never send the item to me. One of the worst online shopping experience.

Came in for an appraisal for a lens. Got a super lowball offer and to make matters worse they removed my $25 Hoya UV filter and never put it back. When I got home I noticed that it was missing when I went to move it from my small bag to my large bag. I called right away and they told me that they didn’t find any filters and I must have misplaced it. I literally watched the rep take it off and they were appraising that and another lens. I wandered around and when I came back they were done and had already capped my lens. Their suggestion was come back in so they could sell me one. Yeah nice try you won’t be selling me anything ever again. I’ve spent at least 10k in the past but you’ve lost me as a customer over $25 just for being sketchy.

Purchased a camera online, only hours after it went on sale. It was labeled as in stock. I used a coupon code for it too. I received an order confirmation email. As it was after hours on a Sunday, I did not expect the camera to ship until the next day. When I did not receive a shipping confirmation by the afternoon of Monday, I used the chat feature on their website to ask the status of my order. I was told that everything was in order, and that they just needed to confirm my mailing address and phone number. I thought that somewhat strange, that I had to reach out for that to happen, but I confirmed it and was promised the camera would be shipped that day or the next.On Wednesday, when I had not received any word from unique photo, I emailed them to ask the status of my shipment again. I received an email back stating that the order was cancelled. I immediately began a chat again with a Paul asking if this was true, and to have the order reinstated. I was told that the order was cancelled. I asked if it could be reinstated and I was told by Paul that there were no more cameras and that it was not even back ordered. Inventory mistake on a web store? I asked why I had to contact them to find this all out and got no response. A courtesy email would have been nice. As, by this time in the week, most other retailers had sold out and had I known unique photo was out, I would have bought somewhere else. Given I contacted them Monday and was not informed lead me to believe that they new in advance they had more orders then cameras and, instead of delivering them to those who ordered first, they passed over those who used a small coupon and gave the few cameras to those who paid full price. Very shady.I was told there was no back order. They said they would contact me if they ever got them in again, but had no idea when that would be, and that they would only honor their earlier price through the end of the month.I wont shop there again, even if they have a great coupon code or sale. They arent honest brokers.

Awful experience! I ordered a canvas enlargement that was for a wedding gift. Originally told me it would take a couple of days. Then their machine broke down and couldn’t give me the canvas when they had originally stated. Extremely unapologetic about the whole situation sandra had told me I had to wait an additional week. That if they didn’t repair their machine they would send it out to another shop and make sure I would receive my order. The whole week passes and no one ever reached out to me. At this point I couldn’t give the canvas as the gift as I wanted. I had to reach out to them again because they did, and when I speak to the staff no one knew anything about my situation. So I spoke to a manager this time and explained the whole situation and he said he would reach out to me a couple of days later. Of course, he never did. I had to reach out to them again and when I finally did he told me they were getting another machine and to either wait or cancel my order. (Great customer service huh?) I waited another week. This is already 5 weeks after I first placed the order. And again, no one reaches out to me, I call at 10am and Sandra again tells me that she has no idea about anything that’s happening and tells me that someone will call me. No one does. By 5pm I call them and tells me that they are having a delay with the machine again, that someone should’ve called me. Wow! So I ended up cancelling the whole order. Worst place to go. They might have good classes but stay away from ever printing anything here. They have the worst customer service.

I dropped my canon 24-70 today and the filter got all shattered. I went to the Unique Photo and the gentleman Korl at the repair department fixed it flawlessly with zero damage. It is very hard to fix as it got the B+W filter on it, so I know it is very hard. The best service I ever had! Thank you so much to save my baby!

Ordered a printer in May and they repeatedly said they would ship it. Now that its October they have canceled my order and the printer shows in-stock for twice the amount on their website. Hopefully the Attorney General investigates this company for price gouging during a declared emergency.

Unique photo has a knowledgeable and caring staff, whos professionalism has earned my long term loyalty. Unique isnt just a retail outlet, it supports the creative lifestyle. They offer classes and excursions through local environmental groups and businesses to offer their clients unique opportunities to practice their craft (photo video etc ). They cater to the amateur and every skill level all the way through to the professional. They even bring in professionals from around the country to provide opportunities to learn a wide range of skills from practioners. They also provide global excursions. Just about the only thing that they dont offer is studio rentals (to the best of my knowledge ). I look forward to each of their semiannual expos since they are fantastic. I continue to buy and rent camera gear from them as well as take their classes, workshops and excursions. Beyond that I use their fantastic lab for prints.

LYING AND PRICE GOUGINGFuji quit making FP100c film a couple years ago. I had ordered from Unique Photo last fall and had a good experience. I knew the film was coming to an end, so I called in January to see what the expiration date was on the film that they had in stock. The guy I spoke with said it expired in February. He didnt say anything about anything with a later expiration date, even when I asked. Since my busy season wouldnt be starting until the spring, I ordered from Amazon that had an expiration of August & September. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Rich Kelley asking if I wanted to buy. He sent me a written quote of $28/box for 18 boxes. I had to wait for some $$ to come in and told him I would purchase the next Monday. When he called me to get my order, the price had jumped to $31/box. I didnt order any. Luckily, my aura camera comes in digital.

I recently purchased a Go Pro camera from Unique Photo on Amazon as a birthday present for my husband. It stated it was in like new condition. When he opened it for his birthday we found it was not like new. The box was damaged, the power cord was missing, the previous owner of the camera left his SD card in it with all of his photos and video still loaded, and the Go Pro was broken!! Unique Photo refused to accept a return and they stated that I should pursue fixing the camera via the Go Pro warranty. How is this my responsibility?! Do not buy from Unique Photo, they are frauds selling broken, incomplete cameras to innocent customers. Terrible customer service and products. Terrible business practices.

Pros: Amazing staffβ€”qualified, attentive, professional and detail oriented. Brian Roy and Emily especially. I’ve had photos Emily printed for a show complimented for their outstanding quality by a gallery framer with decades of experience. I won’t let anyone else print my work. She deserves a raise.Cons: the technology they’re forced to work with is painfully slow. 20 minutes for a few photos to open was frustrating, and repeated tech delays were the only downside of working with Unique Photo to produce my show. They desperately need to upgrade their computers and software.
