Good people very helpful

I have mixed feeling about this company. They did not keep me informed about the day they planned to pack. Movers seemed nice and worked hard but I am still finding scratches and nicks on furniture that they moved. Despite taking apart a bed set to move only a short distance away, they were unable to correctly put it back together so that it now does not fit well and some pieces were actually broken. I felt the movers did not take good care with my furnishings.

Superb from start to end. Chipman packed and moved our household furnishings from California to Maine. The boxes were inventoried at packing and again on delivery, so we knew that nothing had been lost. With the single exception of an inexpensive wine glass, the furniture and all of the remaining items, including many fragile pieces, arrived in perfect condition, thanks to really expert packing and handling. Communication before and during the move was excellent, and their prices were competitive with other national companies. We can recommend them highly.

Nightmare starting with Chipman. Chipman was the key to my cross country move being a complete disaster and nightmare. The only thing this company did right was to show up on time and pack my belongings. After that I never saw most of them again. The first sign of trouble was when the lead packer made a comment on how he couldnt believe the company took this job seeing as how they already had stuff spilling out of the warehouse. When he saw my worried look he quickly recanted his statement saying that our items would be taken care of. They packed everything (only about 7200 +/- lbs) in two days and loaded them loosely onto two moving trucks and took off for the warehouse. Knowing what I know now these items should have been crated at origin with security bands in place.My shipment was delayed by 33 days due to Chipman being unable to crate my items in time. They claimed that some over sized items caused the delay.Getting in contact with Chipman during this time was extremely difficult. I kept getting passed around from person to person, including being transferred to the high level brass at the location, and only received a callback approximately twice from a low level agent.When my belongings arrived, I was missing a good majority of everything I had spent the last 10+ years acquiring.Long story short, I ended up losing about half of everything that they took and had to file a claim with not only the Transportation Service Provider contracted by the military but also against my own personal insurance provider for an amount in excess of 11K to replace everything that Chipman lost.You can make your own decisions. I personally will never have anything to do with this company again.

Used Chipman Relocations for a cross-country move from Ca to Ga. Purchased full replacement value insurance at a premium cost. Items were damaged in transit and they are refusing to provide reimbursement for these items. They owe me $1119. Dont use them. They are dishonest and will find a way to not honor their own contract.

After reading numerous accounts of problems with long distance movers, I selected Chipman Moving and Storage of Fairfield, Ca., as my mover. Everything, and I do mean everything, went excellently for my move from the Bay Area to Salem, Or. The crew who loaded our property performed excellently. The Crew who unloaded our property performed excellently. A dresser door was slightly damaged in the move as was a coffee cup. I know from moving myself that this is miniscule property damage. Dan Shane and Elizabeth Johnson went out of their way to help us. Ms. Johnson, was particularly professional and caring. I would not hesitate to use Chipman movers again.D. Lopez

Would give this company 0 stars if I could. The military used this company to move our stuff and after two weeks of not receiving our stuff on time and living on air mattresses they show up 7 hours late on the day they said theyd be there with the excuse of traffic then told me that they only had 3/4 of my shipment and that Id get the other part in three more days. Three days later they dont show up and me and my husband call multiple times with no answers. Just the receptionist saying he cant tell me anything and to talk to Rick who they say is at his desk. They transfer me and Rick dosent answer. This happened several times and weve been given promises with a call back with nothing. As of now I still dont have my shipment and couldnt be more angry with this awful customer service. As of right now Im assuming maybe they lost it and dont want to fess up. The people who unloaded were nice and professional while here but thats the only nice thing I can say about this company.
