Normally, I would not bother to write a review for a company I chose not to do business with, especially with how busy I understand contractors are and in the tough time the world has faced over this past year; however, I am extremely disappointed with how this company wasted my time not once, but twice, and how, on the second occasion, the estimator nearly interrupted an important presentation for work.I initially scheduled an appoint a week and a half out, blocked it out in my work calendar, and was prepared. Nobody showed. I received a call 45 minutes AFTER my appointment time where the secretary (presumably the secretary, that is) said the person was running late . . . In my mind, he was no longer running late; he missed the appointment—period. It was a stormy day, however, and I get that unforeseen circumstances arise, so I gave the company a second chance. The secretary said she would try to setup another day at a specific time that would work best for me so that I would not have to wait another week and a half to two weeks to get a quote (since they typically only do estimates on Th/F), and I agreed on the suggested day and time. She called me back after speaking with whomever was going to do my quote, left a voice message asking me to call back, so I did. Eventually, a Doug called me and asked if the day/time (stated specifically) that the secretary had said was still good to which I said yes. I blocked this off in my calendar for work again. Two different people stated the exact same date and exact same time on the phone with me at this point. That day and time rolled around, and unfortunately, I was not surprised when nobody showed up yet again. Instead, TWO HOURS later a white truck pulled up in front of my house. I was minutes away from presenting to nearly 800 people, including senior leadership, for work. At that point, I’m on video, and I can tell my dog is about to lose his mind because he sees the truck sitting outside. The person with Highland Fence finally called me after waiting a couple of minutes outside of my house as I’m getting nervous that he’s going to call right as I’m about to start my presentation. I had to turn my video off and leave the room to answer. He tried to tell me that they had him down for this hour and not two hours earlier, which I had confirmed twice with two people at the company and had blocked off immediately upon the final confirmation (and I would not have agreed to this hour that he showed up knowing the importance of this company-wide meeting I was on and that it would likely run late). He then said he would call back for us to try to find another day and time, and I was respectful but stern in stating that this had happened twice, and I would take my business elsewhere.Thankfully, my presentation did not start without me being present, but the entire second situation could have had serious implications for my work—let alone that Highland Fence failed to be organized and communicate on two separate occasions. (Additionally, I was told I would receive a call about a half hour before somebody showed up or when they were on the way to my house—on neither occasion did I receive a call in advance). Although I can’t vouch for the quality of the work or the install staff, I feel it is important for prospective customers to know the administrative faults that they might run into.

Absolutely Outstanding! Highland Fence will not disappoint. Rick, Tom, Dan and Jay were excellent to work with. The level of professionalism and their attention to detail is second to none. They install quality fencing with the utmost perfection. It was truly amazing to watch the crew make it look easy. Even with minor tweaks, the crew adapted and made my requests come true. The sight lines of the fencing is truly a work of art!

Highland Fence did a fantastic job repairing our vinyl fence. We had significant damage from storms and they repaired it sturdier than ever. There is a reason they have been in business for decades. Tom was extremely professional and reasonable with his pricing. I highly recommend using them for your repairs or new fence install. Their materials are also top notch!

Highland Fence did a fantastic job replacing a split picket fence around my back yard. My yard has a slope to it, including where a gate is, and it looks fantastic. They also installed a fence around my vegetable garden which I’m more than happy with. Customer service was over and above what I expected. They also gave me the best price of the three companies I contacted. There was no upselling or surprises. I’d highly recommend them and would use them again.

Ill preface this by saying these guys do good work and Im happy with the finished product. The gentlemen who came to my house to do the job were friendly and they were pretty quick getting it done as well.That being said, my overall experience with Highland was a bit disappointing and they need to improve on communication with customers.I reached out to them because my fence was badly damaged and i knew it wouldnt last through the year. I called and the owner came to my house in the middle of summer and assessed the job, and I explained that to him. He gave me a quote and said if i wanted to get this done soon that i needed to book a spot ASAP and I did just that and put money down. I was told 7-8 weeks before theyd arrive (October time frame). 7-8 weeks came and went. No call, no show. I gave them a 2-3 week buffer before I called them for an update and was told itd be probably another 3 weeks or soOver the next month and half, I had to call them 2 more times for an update because they hadnt shown and kept telling me it would be just a little longer each time. Eventually at the end of December, I spoke with the owner who claimed COVID had them backed up and they would be there soon.During this time I spoke to several other contractors and they all agreed that COVID or not, it shouldnt have taken that long to get to me, especially since I had a relatively small job.A short time later, after waiting for 5 months and not getting a single call from them, I called again and threatened to cancel the job and ask for a refund if they didnt show by the end of the week. (Something I dont like to do, but felt Id given them plenty of time).They showed up 2 days after that....Its not lost on me that COVID has impacted businesses nationwide, but knowing that, you shouldnt be stretching yourself so thin that you set expectations with your customers that you cant meet. Even if you initially DID believe you could hit that timeframe, once you realized that you couldnt, the least you could do is call your customer to let them know youre running behind and give them piece of mind that you didnt forget them instead of leaving them in the dark. Something I didnt expect from a company who has been in business for over 30 years.

My experience with them was and still is terrible. Paid thousands of dollars for an automatic gate for easy access to the car from my backyard for my elderly, handicapped mother. Within a year it was already nonfunctional. They came a couple if times, quick fix and within a couple of days it wouldnt work. Repeatedly called and was blown off and when I actually got a hold of someone they were very rude and INSISTANT that it had something to do with the household electric which was not the case. When we changed the fuse, no matter what we did the gate just slams into the other side blowing the fuse. Now, I cant even manually push it open. Completely stuck. Of our own fault we had misplaced the paperwork from when we purchased it and asked them for copies. Apparently the paperwork is missing from their office. Very convenient for them. Mostly dealt with a man named tom and a man named cory.

Highland Fence and Construction was a perfect choice for our fence and referred to us after many close friends and family had a superb experience! Very experienced and knowledgeable with all the questions and ideas we had. Its hard to bring custom ideas to life and they did! All of the employees were courteous and prompt daily making the experience even more rewarding. From start to finish with the owners our experience was second to none. I have used Highland Fence for fence installation and snow removal and have always been happy with the professional service they provide. They have taken care of snow removal for our personal and investment properties for five years and Rick always comes to double check the work of his employees, ensuring everything is done to the quality they stand by. We have had two different fences installed and were unsure of the type of fence and layout we should go with, but Tom was able to guide us and we couldnt have been happier. Highly recommend them.

I could not be happier. Tom spent a lot of time with me helping me make some decisions and made multiple trips to my house. The guys who came to my house were very nice and made sure everything was 100% before they left. They made some adjustments and did it with no issue. Strongly recommend Highland Fence, they are very good to their customers.The only downside is that it rained much this Spring so I had to wait a few weeks before they could start, but they started the date they penciled in as a tentative start date.

Tried to order material for a damaged fence I went to thier location and spoke with Corey and he said he would look into getting what I needed and would call me back with the results and he never called me back and I tried calling him and left a message for him to see what he came up with and he still never called me back maybe they are great with doing big jobs but in my case he didnt even have the decency to call me back to let me know if he could help me or not

We used Highland a Fence and Construction to Fence in our yard and couldn’t be happier with the final outcome. The quality of the fence and professionalism of the staff was exceptional.

Called for quote, no response called back a couple of weeks later told got my number wrong (note we are a repeat customer). Finally got Tow here to see our project after a mix up on the appointment time. No quote so after 3 weeks call and told they got out e-mail address wrong. Gave the OK was told 3 weeks but maybe sooner. After 6 weeks told them to forget it. 3 months no fence!
