My suggestion - Drive a bit farther to get more courteous service and better selection.A friend and I stopped into NOVA firearms recently and didnt have a particularly good experience.Pros:1. The younger guy who was working there was genuinely enthusiastic and friendly2. There are some neat pieces to check out3. Theyre really the only game in town.Cons:1. Selection is very limited.2. Prices are OK, at best.3. The owner was excessively curt and dismissive.I was seconds away from purchasing an M&P Shield from them when I asked to see how it tore down. The owner bustled over and shut us down with a we dont do that and walked off with no explanation. I respect that its his business, but he obviously wasnt interested in doing use the courtesy of taking more than a second to explain.
Stellar service! I shipped a firearm to them from WI as part of a trade deal. The gun I accepted was not was described. They were willing to dent acceptance of my gun to ensure I wasnt screwed over by the seller, who was THEIR customer. All they had to do was accept the gun and charge their fee. These people are beyond helpful. I trust them and would repeat the story to anyone who would listen. INTEGRITY! Thanks you Jamie and crew!
I ordered a pistol over a month ago and paid for it via the online page for NOVA. Two weeks go by and no call for the weapon. I send an email and get no response, then call NOVA and am told by a very nice lady that the pistol is not in the store yet. No explanation on why the order is taking so long, but the lady with whom I was speaking advised NOVA would call when the weapon came into the store for pick up. Flash forward two more weeks and I send another email, get no response from NOVA and after three days, I have to drive to the store to check on my pistol order. I talk to the gentleman working and he gives me an interesting story on how people are being laid off in the gun industry due to the fact that Trump is now President and demand for weapons is way down. Great, if this is actually true, I would at least like to receive a call or email telling me this, instead of going to the store to get this interesting story from the gent at the store. I really would like the management of this store to check their emails and tell their customers on line and if they are waiting for an order, what they think a delay in receiving a weapon is caused by and when the weapon may be in for pick up. It is not good enough right now the way this store is treating customers with pending orders. I did notice that while I was in the store one of the gents working there was really enthusiastic about teaching a young woman how to clean a gun. Great. At least you guys have your priorities straight. Once I receive this pistol (within two weeks I hope or I am cancelling the order) I think I am done with this store as I should not have to beg for information after handing a vendor over 1000 bucks of my money. Answer your emails or remove your email address. Or, make an effort to respond to your customers via email.
Nice enough people. Very few guns. maybe 40 in the store that werent part of the Personal Collection denoted guns that were not for sale. Shame, seem like nice people and Id love to have a local gun store, but this one has few guns and nearly no ammunition or accessories/gear. Cant see a reason to go back there.
Excellent customer service. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to assist with any questions you have, no matter how novice. My FFL transfer took 15 minutes in total to pay for and complete - zero issues. Its a great shop, with competitive pricing and a really pretty pit if youre into dogs. 5 stars ***** - will visit again.
I recently transferred a firearm to here and the experience was hassle free. The staff was fast, friendly and NOT pushy. They allowed me to take my time and not try to rush me out of there. So long as I live in and around the area, I will be doing my business here.Thank you guys for the best atmosphere!Addendum, this review was for the previous occupants The Gun Dude and not NOVA Firearms. I have some experience with their previous McClean store but have not done any business with them since they moved to Falls Church...yet
Visited NOVA Firearms this August for the first time. The staff was friendly & knowledgeable. I purchased a Glock 43 my first visit. The pricing was good & the staff very helpful. I purchased an AR-15 online and had it shipped to NOVA a week later. They were more than happy to take care of the transfer. Its nice to find a real firearms store in side the beltway. I hope the local firearms community will support them.
Nova Firearms is a community fixture. Theyre consummate professionals, kind, knowledgeable, and will work to earn (and keep) your business. Im glad that theyve relocated recently, hopefully those shiny picket signs will draw some new business. I may be able to save a dollar or two by shopping online, but Id rather support a locally owned business. JB, Rachel, and the whole team have my business & my respect.
NOVA Firearms has a very strong inventory and Web page. The employees are very knowledgeable and are customer focused. The employees are not high pressure sales. They has a Gunsmith on site. Located on Chain Bridge Road next to the Exxon gas station at the corner of Old Dominion and Chain Bridge Road. Ample parking infront of the store. Located in the center of McLeans business district. If you are a gun lover ... make time to visit.
The gun dude (former business there before nova firearms) was better. - the staff wasn’t welcoming at all and didn’t seem like they wanted me there...so I left. They also increased the price of the transfer fees.
I dropped a rifle off to have a scope mounted and the owner failed to mention they were moving to a new location. So I went back as agreed on a Wednesday to pick it up and the store was cleared out with a sign that said they were moving with no forwarding address. Their answering service and website had the same info. After calling 10 times the owner JB finally picked up and said they would have the scope mounted later that day. On my way back to pick it up, he called me and said the scope was mounted and they still needed to bore site it. So he postponed until the next day. That was the last I heard from him despite numerous calls and texts for 48 hours. Then I got a call from his wife saying the scope wasnt actually mounted and that the dovetail base was mounted on with lock tight, so it would have to be drilled out to come off. When I brought the rifle to a reputable gunsmith, they said it came off fine and had no issue changing the base. It hadnt even looked like they attempted to remove the base. I would steer clear of this store, amateurs and at worse may ruin your firearm.
We highly recommend NOVA Firearms. In late January 2018, we picked up a transfer and had repairs done to another firearm. The staff was super friendly, professional, and patient. Five stars!
Horrible service, They tend to close without any online notice here or on their website so call ahead of time. They said theyd transfer my rifle but refused when it arrived, but insisted I should pay but shipping and a full transfer fee when I wanted to transfer the gun to a local gunsmith for MD compliance modifications.(edit:) theyve been holding on to my rifle for over a month I havent been able to reach them via phone or email for over a week, and there was another two week period of not answering before that
Its great to have another gun store in the old Gun Dude location. The staff might be as bro-ish and the Gun Dudes were, but who is? Theyre still friendly and professional Theyve done some great work on four different pistols of mine, and its always been reasonably-priced and high quality. Im glad to welcome them to the neighborhood.
The class was very fun and easy going! The instructor Denis is very friendly and he will answer any questions you have. Questions came to mind and it was 11pm and Denis answered my questions within minutes over email. I will recommend his class to anybody!!
Stay away. These thieves should be shut down. They literally stole my gun. Sleazy and dishonest. I bought a gun from them online when I first moved to Virginia. When it arrived I went to pick it up but still had an out of state drivers license, so they werent allowed to give me the gun. They never mentioned anything about a daily storage fee until it came time for them to steal my merchandise and pocket my payment. By the time I got a Virginia license and went back to pick it up, they told me they owed me nothing because it took too long for me to pick it up and they had to charge me a storage fee. $600+ they took from me and I got absolutely nothing in return except a staff member yelling at me.
Wish i could give them a zero. Worst customer service i have ever experienced. They do no answer the phones ever and then they never call you back. You show up and there is a sign on the door that says closed for remodeling yet its not posted online or anywhere. By far the worst customer service ever. Ive worked at a gun shop before and i would stay away from this place.
Excellent service! They are very helpful and took the time to answer my questions and showed me how to clean my shotgun. Saved me a lot of money too.
Great experience. Very helpful. Staff is always willing to answer questions. Not a huge superstore but they can help you decide what you want and order it pretty quickly. I cant speak to prices. Obviously buying online or from a large superstore might be cheaper, but they are helpful, courteous and you cant beat the location if you are in the NOVA area. I also love the hours because i can stop by after work. Its a really relaxing spot, family atmosphere and i always feel welcome whether im coming to purchase something or just coming to talk shop. The company is under new management and the guys over there are really listening to the consumers and working hard to improve the image that may have been established by prior ownership (deserved or not).
1/5/2019 Update just found out they closed there doors and are no longer open. It a shame as they where a nice gun store at one time but there customer service dropped and this just goes to show what bad customer service can do to your business.Nice gun store friendly staff
Two Saturdays over the last three weeks they have been closed for either training or inventory. They dont mention it on their website or on their message machine. They wont answer the door if you knock, even though they are supposedly open on Saturdays. They also dont pick up the phone so that anyone can ask if they are open before driving there. After driving there to pick up something twice and facing a locked door, Im left wondering how someone shops there when they wont answer the door during publicly posted shop hours.Horrible customer service.
These guys are awesome .They could charge more but they dont . They add value to your purchase and if you feel comfortable around them its OK because you are in good hands. You should consider them a primary go to for your shooting desires . Their honesty is a virtue, their knowledge is a shared asset . They never talk down to anybody in the store and they deliver on their promises . My purchase was a Springfield M1A SOCOM 16 CQB ( a thing of beauty ) . I dont know what my next weapon purchase will be but I do know that it will be at NOVA Firearms . Who am I ? Nobody really, just a guy in his 60s that has been shooting and hunting for 55 years, a veteran, I have a collection of man made metal parts in me that kind of make up for some of the original ones that got shattered and I still have a passion for shooting . The guys at NOVA Firearms share that same passion . If you are in the area you owe it to yourself to drop in .
Super welcoming store. Nice and bright, clean with a very polite staff. No one even made fun of me for being from Maryland.
Professional staff. Visited for FFL transfer of firearm. They completed paperwork pretty quickly. Website has all the information you need if you are transferring firearm through them.
Dont waste your time unless you want to get screwed. I think these guys voted for Obama because he is making them rich as they profit off the hysteria.... They are trying to line their pockets for retirement I guess because reputable gun shops are not gouging customers and planning to remain in business from loyal repeat customers long after this mess calms down.
JB the new owner is fantastic! I bought a glock 43 gen 4 from him and it was a great experience. Customer service was great and their wealth of knowledge on firearms is intriguing. I now will buy all of my weapons from him now. I also cant wait for the new place to open up. #customer4life
Great guys. Made purchasing my first firearm a much less complicated process, and I left feeling like my patronage was appreciated
Used NOVA Firearms for a suppressor transfer, they were more than patient with me using my trust of the first time, its a place to go if you know what you want or know what you are in the market for. If you want general Q&A go to youtube or google for your questions. These guys run a class 3 shop meaning they carry high products and cater to a select market up here in NOVA. If you are looking to browse and have a greater degree of products by brand and price hold off and go to the national gun show.
They don’t respond to emails, voicemail or Facebook messages. Was told by an employee my item and stamp were not there, had to go in and told it was on the shelf. Go to a different FFL. Don’t waste your time.
Drove 20 min out of the way to come here to find that it is closed, nothing on the website about not being closed. Its simple to update these things, dont care about potentialcustomers time
Always responsive. Valuable insights and knowledgeable. Nice to finally have a store so close.
Awesome transfer experience. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended shop.
Great experience with the staff, friendly and helped me purchase my very first handgun. Thanks guys!
Unassuming exterior, if youre not careful youre likely to drive right by it.Good variety in the selection of arms available for examination, including a few pieces from the owners personal collection just for show (and what a show some of those were). Accessories available for nearly everything on the walls or in the cases with reasonable prices.Cramped quarters when they are busy, but ample competent staff ensure individual transactions are completed quite rapidly. Even with the relative speed, speed did not seem to be the goal. They have an atmosphere of customer oriented focus on accurate and complete service.I personally made a purchase in late May 2016 from the pre-owned side of the business, a couple of revolver pocket pistols. Clean exterior on both, but severe fouling in the cylinder and barrel on one of the pistols. I understand the concept of as-is, but like with other reviews Ive written of gun shops in the area - that fifth star comes at a price of clean (or free cleaning with purchase) pre-owned merchandise.Overall experience beyond satisfactory and well into excellent. I hadnt even planned on making a purchase, they just happened to have exactly what I didnt even know i was looking for.
Wonderful staff, VERY knowledgable about guns. JB and Rachel are fantastic. I buy EVERYTHING from NOVA FIREARMS from hats to guns, they have it all. I can promise that taking a trip to NOVA will NOT be a disappointment.
As a first-time gun owner I found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable.
There an amazing gun shop i woluld give them 5 stars if not for shipping from there web site tacking 2 long but apart from that there great the always respond if you can get rachales email she has been the best if help with every order
Theyre going out of business....I guess? but didnt bother telling anyone....especially people whose FFL transfer theyre holding. They have a website and a Facebook page but apparently thats too difficult to use to actually communicate with their customers since they never answer their phones. Lets just say customer service leaves something to be desired. Use Gunbroker to find another FFL.
I ordered a hand gun on February 9. They told me 7 to 10 business days. I called them on the 23rd of February. The owner told me to wait another week bc they have been having issues with orders. I waited. Now on March 2nd, I called no answer. I also drove to their store on March 2nd and 3rd during their business hrs. They dont answer the door. Do not buy from these ppl!!!! They are Unprofessional! I am in the process of getting my money back. BEWAREThey claim they do not handle refunds only the manager can do that. I ask when does the manager come in. They respond that they do not know his schedule. They told me they left him a message to issue me a refund. It has not been processed. I have decided to escalate this issue.
Very friendly and service was great. I arrived from Maryland an hour before they opened- Store attendant gave me my order so that I would not have to wait around.
Recently used NOVA Firearms for an FFL transfer for an out-of-state firearms purchase. Could not be happier with NOVAs customer service, professionalism and overall care for my purchase. If you are looking for a shop to use for an FFL transfer, I highly recommend NOVA firearms!
Sending a huge shout out to NOVA Firearms, you guys rock! They know their stuff here and if an employee isnt well versed on any particular weapon, they find the answer. They took the time to contact VSP, ATF, and the dealer I purchased from to work through the particulars of an out-of-state purchase. These guys went the distance to help me. Other firearms stores in the area werent willing to coordinate an out-of-state purchase but you guys took the time to call, coordinate, and figure it out. I truly appreciate your efforts and youve got a lifetime customer for it!Thanks again guys (and gal)!
Great experience! Very Professional and always willing to help
Purchased firearm from their website. FFL fee included. When I went to pick the product up, was charged again for FFL fee, fee not refunded at the time. 2nd transaction was a transfer, I reminded them they owed me back for 1st FFL fee and they were more than willing to wave the fee on 2nd transaction. Email communications could improve, and calls could be returned otherwise so far not too bad an experience.
Nice display and updated inventory. good customer services..
Good luck getting them to answer the phone. Other than that they meet all expectations
Great experience! The civilian guy there was awesome!
This group of people are non chalant and not informative at all. I wish that someone would have caught me on the way in because I wouldnt have did business with them
I specifically called in the morning to find out if they have the new magpul magazines for my Glock 17. Their answer was absolutely and I told thim great Im on my way. Not even an hour later I drive all the way to their store and to my surprise they dont have any in stock . The staff has no product knowledge and unwilling to help me out.Manager J.B just contact me by email and apologized. I have updated my review because of that. Not a lot of business would do that. Thanks NOVA
Great service and the guys will help you through almost anything and everything.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Good selection.
Great shop. Friendly and knowledgable staff.
Just tried to visit, no go. They’re closing permanently. Hopefully, you will get your transfers.
I had good service from them I order something online . I feel their were fair. Their could be little more friend .
Awesome place, very friendly staff and awesome owner
My wife purchased her 1st shotgun there it was defected and they would not take it back. Finally got them to return it after a long battle. My wife is anti guns since that experience. The owner is a real piece of work.
Everything about this company is top notch.
Excellent Stuffs. Friendly.
This place had little to no selection. The staff was not very knowledgeable about their products, what they had or what they were even selling. Was an absolute waste of time. Will only be going to SPECDIVE from now on.
Great store!
Good selection
Buy and sell guns and ammo
