Im a first time boat owner and bought a used 2008 Tahoe deck boat that probably had never been tuned up, so I knew I was going to have to have some work done. I brought it in to Dakota Marine on a referral from my neighbor. Mark Jr. and Sr. are straight forward and explained exactly what needed to be fixed, how much it would cost, and when it would be done. They told me things they recommended to be done immediately and things that could wait. I got my boat back a day before it was promised at the price I was quoted. When I picked it up, Mark Sr. asked, Which boat is yours again? to which I replied, The blue and white Tahoe. Mark looked me in the eye and said, Ohhhh, that one. You are going to notice a difference! He wasnt fooling around. My motor ran flawlessly and I couldnt be happier with the work that was done. I dont normally write reviews, but wanted to give a special thanks and shoutout to Dakota Marine!

We took our Sea Ray to Dakota Marine to have them fix our exhaust manifold gaskets because another dealer didnt winterize it correctly. They were very helpful, had it done very quickly. Boat has run flawless since. They were very nice and easy to deal with. I wont go anywhere else from hear forward.

I left my boat with a buddy who is good with fixing them, but ended up re-assembling my lower unit completely and utterly wrong - he had my boat for about 45 days. I picked up my boat from his house and brought it to Dakota Marine & Motorsport the same day to drop it off - this was around July 6th so it was an extremely busy time for boat maintenance. The NEXT day I had a call saying they had taken it apart, found the issue, and reassembled. The only reason it took my an extra day to pick it up is because I work overnights and had to work it into my schedule, and they needed my permission to install a new thermostat. Overall, 3 days. Did not screw me on price, did an excellent job, and the speed at which is was completed is absolutely mind boggling. I will be coming here for the rest of my life.

Well, so far, I have spent well over $3,000 and let me tell you, they have no problem taking your money. But when it comes down to brass tacks this place is an epic failure. Brought my boat in 2 days before fishing opener. Went in 2 weeks later and they still hadnt even looked at my outboard motor. At this point I will probably contact the better business bueareu to file a complaint. I brought my boat in 1 year ago to date, and just had it serviced AGAIN (this was the 4th time) and my outboard is still not operating properly. I think most people would agree that if I give someone $3,000.00 the motor better run flawlessly. Not once have they offered to make it right, actually fix my outboard motor without continually charging me for the work over and over again. See, where I comeFrom if you run a service shop and someone brings you equipment to repair and this is what you advertise, You repair it, get it running and give it back to them. And, for some reason I dont fix the issue, I would fix it on the house since I took that persons hard earned dollar and put my stamp of approval on it. Not the case here. They charge you for work that didnt actually fix the problem. So, if you dont want to be taken advantage of and screwed out of thousands of dollars I would suggest taking this to a professional who actually wants to fix/repair your outboard motor and do right by you. Or, if you want your motor to continue to run poorly and when you take it back they charge you for NOT REPAIRING it, this is the place for you. awful experience, crooks.

He told you what it needs and you’re sore because you bought a lemon. Don’t blame the mechanic.Cry us a river so we sail on that- Dingy!-Elliot and Bill get real-

I bought a used boat that was in great shape. I had Dakota Marine winterize it for me. In the spring I had them look at the motor. Its a four stroke so its much slower out if the hole. The issue I was having the motor would stall if I gave it too much gas at take off. Their certified mechanics said I needed 4 new carb kits for $1,600.00. Long story short, I had to take the boat back 4 more times to try and get it fixed properly. Every time I took it back Mark (owner) treated like I was lying to him. Nearly arguing with him over the phone. So, after I spent $1,600.00 on carb kits they tell me my fuel line was clogged up. Then after they replaced fuel line my gas gage no longer worked. Charged me another $250.00 and told me its only accurate until the 1/2 tank mark, after that point it doesnt read properly. It seems like every time I brought the boat back they are charging me for something else. I picked up the boat for the last time fixed or not (I made the decision not to go back). I took the boat out and the motor ran worse now than when I bought it. Motor still stalled at take off and lost 4 mph on top speed. I go to clean the boat and noticed a temporary patched up hole in it (below the water line)! I had to call them before they would admit to it. Said the wind caught it when moving it and pushed it right into another trailer hitch. They did pay for the repair on the hole but after spending nearly $2,000 on repairs with the boat running worse now then before I took it to them is extremely disappointing. There is no way there mechanics are certified. They need to stay with shrink wrapping and storing only. Leave the repairs to a marine that have real mechanics.
