In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the *new*. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new: an extraordinary experience from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the experience and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine retailing is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Mike’s famous motto, Anyone can retail. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist *can* come from *anywhere*. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius’ now at Fifth Generation, who is, in this critics opinion, nothing less than the finest store in Farmington. I will be returning to Fifth Generation soon, hungry for more.

I loved this store when we went 2 months ago. I bought a ring while we were there, but it already broke! I think I paid like $70 for it, and the stone already fell out! I’m so upset because I bought it as a keepsake of my husband and I’s honeymoon. I guess I’ll super glue it and be very careful when wearing it 😭

We were on vacation and stumbled upon this wonderful place a few years ago. I had purchased a ring at another business prior to coming to Fifth Generation trading. I ask if they could make a bracelet to match the ring. After the design was finalized, i paid for the bracelet and continued on vacation. The bracelet was shipped in the time i was given, it looked and fit wonderfully. Great place!

This place is incredible! It hosts an extensive collection of native made art, jewelry, pottery, blankets and knick knacks. I had to put my blinders on to prevent breaking the bank. They have a website that I would not hesitate to buy from. You are getting the real deal here. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I am so glad we made it a priority to explore before leaving town. Best values. The jewelry ran the full range from authentic traditional to modern esthetics. All skillfully made. Gorgeous.

This place is perfect! They have an amazing selection, great ambiance, and wonderful service. The prices are more than reasonable. My only problem was getting out of there without maxing out my card. If youre anywhere near Farmington, this place is an absolute MUST. I believe the woman who helped me was named Barbara. She was beyond helpful and very knowledgeable. Plus she really went the extra mile. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars.
