My husband and I went to this Spa about a year ago and had a pleasant experience we did the 30 minute massage chair, it was quiet and peaceful. My most recent visit was not great at all. I rung the little doorbell that they have inside the door when you walk in two times stood there and no one answered so I walked over to the other side where there was a lady at the desk and she said the woman that could help me was out but I could go start the chair up myself. She ended up getting someone else to help her start the massage chair. I had the headphones on to hear the calming music that was nice, HOWEVER all I could hear was the employees loud talking and laughing the whole massage it was not a peaceful massage and I will not go back.

At Massage INDY we are obviously biased that nothing beats amazing hands for massage. But we also understand that not everyone can justify the higher cost or is comfortable with someone else touching them. The massage chairs at Self Service Spa really do a full body massage experience. Our staff uses them quite a bit.

We booked an appointment online to use the massage chairs, and when we arrived, there was a DOG running around the facility. Now I am an animal lover, but I wasn’t really happy nor did I think there would be a dog at the Self Service Spa when we arrived. The employee picked the dog up and put in one of the massage chairs and told it to stay there. It made me wonder how many of the other chairs the dog had been in, and since I was somewhat dressed up, I really didn’t want to be sitting in or getting dog hair on me for the duration of my date. When we were in the massage chairs, I had to ask for headphone because the other people in the spa were talking. I went through 2 headphones and my date went through one because the batteries were worn down and it kept repeating that the battery was low. We got the replacements, after we pushed a button, that notified the employee we needed something. Those must not have not been working either because it was at least 10 mins each time I pushed it, before the employee came back. I wish they would have told us how to adjust the chairs ourselves or that they could even be adjusted at all. There were times when I felt the massage was too much for my back to handle but I just had to arch my back during those times because I didn’t know what to do to adjust it. I noticed the controls as we were leaving and saw that there was also a button for heat. Wasn’t told that there was an option for that either. I just felt that we should have been more informed as to what to expect and what our options were (eye covers, blankets, heat for massage) since we told the employee it was our first time. Instead I felt that we were hurried to just sit down and start the process. After the massage chairs stopped we went next door to pay and the same dog proceeded to growl at me. It was just a small dog, but again, I didn’t think that it was appropriate to have a dog there that was not well behaved. I defiantly would not suggest anyone else use this Self Service Spa nor will I be going back again myself.

I only rated it 1 star because when you have poor customer service and you own a business how do you expect anything higher then that. Now granted its a nice place I wont take away from that but how the business is ran and the owner who is horribly sarcastic and doesnt know how to talk to customers as if he isnt running a business is shameful and I understand that business can be busy and everybody text now a days but to feel like somebody is getting smart with you via text then to blow it off and still come in and get the real version is person is honestly pitiful you want money but dont know customer service ... doesnt work like that they go hand and hand.

I am a prospective customer. After witnessing how you publicly mis-managed some negative feedback on social media, i have decided to take my business elsewhere. The Groupon incident was shameful, and you should have accommodated that new customer. Instead of providing good customer service, you chose to be stubborn, hot-headed, prideful and waste your energy on arguing rather than any sort of therapeutic or healing values. It left this potential repeat customer with the impression that you just bought a bunch of machines and threw them in a building to generate revenue. Your response might be “it’s a shame you never got to experience our services in order to rate us,” but my response is “it’s a shame your negative, sarcastic attitude and mismanagement prevented a potential customer from giving you a chance.” Good luck!

Wouldnt recommend this event. I felt the whole experience was very unorganized. Our party was overlapped with another groups party which cause a confrontation between both groups. The website advertised that we could use the hot tub in which the owner told us it was to much of a mess to open up. It was also advertised on the website that karaoke would be available for us to use in which it didnt work. The owner spent over 30 minutes of our time trying to fix it and was unsuccessful. There was also only five available massage chairs because one of the chairs was missing a portion of the foot rest. I would recommend that they switch back to old ownership ladies night was something i looked foward to. The whole self service spa deal needs some work. The owner never tried to accomdiate us for all the options that were missing from the experience. Basically the seven of us spent 45 dollars for a massage chair and the room.

I have to say that I typically only write reviews when I have an awful experience, so awful that I want to prevent my neighbors from having the same experience. This is one of those times.I purchased a set of floats on Groupon and on the Groupon it had no restrictions or black out times, nothing. So I purchased the set of Groupons and then called for an appointment. I received a message (voice mail) during business hours saying that if you want quicker service to text another number. I did so and asked if this was the correct number for float appointments. The person on the other end said YES! it was and asked what time I wanted to come in. I then explained that I had a groupon and they said that groupons were not being accepted this weekend (I called on a Saturday) or next weekend due to Valentines Day. I was frustrated but texted So I wont have any problem next week? Just the next two weekends? He or she responded with Exactly.Tonight, (this week) I called and again, tried to get in. I asked if they had any available appointments and they said they did. I asked what time and waited. Then a couple of moments later they said they wouldnt be able to accept the Groupon tonight either because it was Valentines Day. I sent him or her a copy of the text from Saturday showing that he/she had said I would have no problem getting in next week. He/she argued via text back and forth with me. Here is one of the quotes. I agree. I told u any day other than the next two weekends which means over 360 plus days of the next 365 u can come. Just not the next two weekends which is now just one weekend. He/she was not making any sense to me. Honestly I felt and even told him/her I thought they were messing with me.The bottom line is I began to end the conversation telling the person on the other end of the text that I will not be coming in - ever - and I will be contacting Groupon with a complaint. This was their response Sorry 361 days out of 365 wasnt enough for you. We will try better to be open more based on your feedback. I cant remember ever in my life when I felt so dismissed and disrespected by a business. I paid for the service and they denied me the service I paid for, twice.I believe I would have been one of Self Service Spas best customers. I have need for this type of therapy and if it worked, I would have tried to go in every week. All they would have had to do is slip me into one of those open slots. Now, as a result, they lost a potential long term customer who wont hestitate to voice my concerns about this business to my friends. I wanted this place to be great. In fact, I was excited to try all their services. Unfortunately, they werent, at all, in anyway, great. I wish I could have seen the inside and experienced their services first hand but you will have to do that on your own. Or not.
