Great forums and quick shipping! Good prices as well! Shop local!
Theyre knowledgeable, quick to respond, and prices are competitive. Mark is also talented with his hand finishing. Highly recommend adding that to your knife purchase. Thanks CKTG!
The advice I got in choosing a knife was great, and Im very happy with the sale/transaction. The knife is beautiful and the in-house sharpening seems well done. This is my first good quality knife and first Japanese knife, and its been a good experience.
Chef Knives to Go has absolutely the best selection of Japanese knives on the internet, and possibly any brick-and-mortar shop. Mark is very knowledgeable and has guided me on several purchases as I delve deeper into Japanese blade profiles. They stock everything from fully functional entry-level knives, to the most elegant high-end blades. If something you are interested in is out of stock, be sure to send them an email requesting it. I wanted a particular cutting board, and they actually ordered more from Japan the next day.I have also used their knife sharpening service on new knives. The edge arrives hair shaving sharp! Turns out that the craftsmen in Japan believe that THEY are the masters at forging the blades, but WE are the masters at using the knives, so they presume we will do the finish sharpening after receiving the knife.
Great website to buy Japanese knives from. Large selection with reasonable prices. Customer service has been good so far.
CKTG are my go to store for all things kitchen knife related. They have a huge selection of knives, sharpening stones and accessories and the service and prices are the best. Mark the owner always has time to answer questions and set you right with your choices. Simply the best on line kitchen knife store I know of.
Excellent selection of products at the best prices available. Shipping is very fast and customer service is as good as Ive ever experienced. CKTG has earned my trust and loyalty.
Wow, Im really sold on this business! The Japanese handmade knife industry can be very confusing when you first begin to explore it, but CK2G makes it accessible to the average customer by describing the significance of the blacksmiths, and the distinguishing details of their knives. The reward is a knife that you will prize above all others for its astonishing edge formation/retention and simple beauty.I purchased my knife online and it was in my hands three days later. Their site seems to be the ONLY repository of meaningful information about this class of knives, which was crucial to helping me make an informed buying decision. The knife I purchased was far from their most expensive offering, yet both the quality of construction and finish were excellent. What a great value! In fact, I could afford 2-3 gorgeous CK2G knives for what I paid for my Shun Kramer, (which handles like a 1974 Lincoln Continental in comparison). Two thumbs up on this business!
Absolutely terrible customer service. This is a perfect example of how NOT to treat your customers.I purchased a knife that was never delivered, These things happen, but unbelievably enough, the seller then offered no replacement at all, or any other kind of help to sort the problem out.I WAS offered a discount on a replacement item. However, seller then refused to ship this item via FedEx (more reliable in our area) even though I offered to pay the cost in full!!! So I payed for a knife that I never, ever got, and was simply left out to dry. Does it get worse than this??(My replacement was, in the end. purchased from a different vendor, again at full cost.)
ChefKnivesToGo has been an incredible wealth of knowledge when entering the Japanese knife world. The forums offered a great place for me to ask questions and get answers on everything I was worried about. The tips I learned from the forums in maintaining, sharpening, and skills needed in caring for high carbon steel knives let me be confident in my decision as a home chef to buy a high carbon Japanese knife. I encourage everyone to visit the sales site and forums.
I ordered a Masamoto gyuto knife, and when it arrived it had a chipped tip. This isnt uncommon for Japanese kitchen knives (they are very hard and chip easily), so I emailed Chefknivestogo support asking about returns information. The next morning I had a reply from Mark R asking if he can send me a return label and offering to replace the knife when the defective one was received. Only a couple days later I received a new knife in the mail with a return label and a box to send the original knife back.I really expected this to be a complicated process and wasnt sure what to expect, but they took care of the issue very quickly and tactfully.
Nice customer service. Mark was really helpful. He answered my emails within a day each time.
Fast shipping and very reasonable prices for quality goods. I bought the Suehiro Deluxe Stone Holder, Yahiko Stone Tray and a neat little 60-120x microscope all for around $60 shipped. Very pleased with the service and products I received.
ChefKnivesToGo is the gold standard when it comes to fine Japanese Cutlery. When I began my exploration of carbon steel knives, I was completely confused and overwhelmed. CKTG provides its customers with more than enough information to make an informed decision. As far as I know they are the only vendor to provide hundreds of product videos that show the knives in detail (very important when buying knives sight unseen). They are a comprehensive shop backed up by a community of professionals and enthusiasts who are always willing to help you navigate the world of fine cutlery (via the CKTG forum). The service is excellent. Most of my orders arrive within a couple of days (USA). The owners, Mark and Susan are gracious and are always diligent in curating talented blade smiths. They work very hard to keep the site updated and fresh. FIVE STARS
Awesome customer service and enormously helpful! Mark and Susan are literally the best!
I have made several purchases from Chef Knives To Go and each time they have provided great service and very quick delivery. Orders usually ship the same or following business day. Their website is absolutely the most informative on the web regarding various types of steels used or methods employed to make these fine tools. The variety of knives they carry is staggering and Mark is always listening to the forum community to try and bring in the type of blades the professionals and enthusiasts are after. There are few other stores or sites on the internet that give you access to the handmade Japanese knives from both master blacksmiths as well as up an coming young blacksmiths who have apprenticed under the masters. Honestly I have had such a great experience with Chef Knives To Go that I just do not have anything negative to say. If you are looking for a new chef knife be it a factory made knife like a Tojiro or MAC, or you want a one of a kind Harner or a blade from an aging master smith like Anryu this is a good place to look first.
Just wanted to say that I received the knife yesterday with the saya. Absolutely elite customer service from your part! Order to receiving in only 4 days! No issues with Dubai customs control which was a bit of a surprise, just FYI in case you have more customers from this region, which I think you will. Already one colleague of mine was amazed by the product and wants to buy one himself. The out of box sharpness already easily surpasses all of my previous knives!Great support from you guys and definitely will be back for more when the wallet allows :)Kanehide PS60 Gyuto 210 + saya
