We were on a road trip and they got us in extremely short notice. Great service at a reasonable price. Needed a diagnostic/ oil change and tire rotation, to set us up for the next part of our drive. One of their employees was even able to drive us to breakfast. Very personable and gave us recomendations on what we could do in flagstaff/ surrounding areas. You can count on them!

We were on vacation in Flagstaff when our check engine light came on and the car started sputtering. We called Flagstaff Auto and we were NOT disappointed! Not only did they greet us with a smile but they fit us in so we could get home. They had a nice waiting room too. We called other auto shops and they were not as nice or professional. All were too busy and didn’t care how we got home. Never been so pleased with an automotive repair shop before. Thank you Flagstaff Auto! Oh they also recharged my AC which also decided to go on the blitz on the way to Flgstaff. It was so hot and only getting hotter. They saved me! Going home was so comfortable and we had not a worry on the road.

Flagstaff Auto Repair is an 11/10. So my window broke and I didnt have a lot of time to go in for repairs due to the nature of my job. I work at a group home for individuals with special needs and we were low on staff-- so I really needed to be at work. Also, this was right before monsoon/flooding season.Not only did they fix my window within the day, but they drove me to and from work AND Flagstaff Auto Repair. I’m so grateful I called! The price wasn’t too bad either. Thank you for your awesome customer service ☺️

Not only did the staff here help us right away but they let the 6 of us chill in their waiting room for 3 hours while we figured out a hotel and car. Then they went out of their way to check on product recall for the broken parts, then gave us as many discounts as they could. They made our car a priority and fixed it as fast as they could and were overall kind and caring. I’m very impressed with the level of service here

Howard & Laini run a great operation and seem to care about their customers. On 2 occasions they have bailed out my Phoenix-Metro based Mazda 5 when weve been visiting the cool pines of Flagstaff.The first time my car had run over something on I-17 and something plastic was dangling off the under carriage and rubbing. The team took care of it by tacking it back up and weve had no issues from it since.The second time my car was overheating and boiling the after a run up Humphreys Peak to see the changing aspen leaves. We pulled into the lot at about 4:50pm (they closed at 5) and Howard came out to look at the car and made a quick diagnosis that the system appeared to be holding some pressure and they could put some coolant in and check it in the morning. Long story short, the next day they were able to determine that the radiator cap was bad and while the system had pressure, it wasnt enough pressure. What might have been a repair in the 100s was much less because of that rascally radiator and the honesty of Flagstaff Auto Repair.Finally Ill offer this as a comment to all of the negative reviews, nothing in life is perfect, but when things go wrong its how we react that defines who we are and how we are perceived. Auto repair is no different. Treat people with respect and they usually return that respect to you.

As I was moving from NC to CA, I unexpectedly hit a pothole and my car immediately started shaking. I found Flagstaff Auto Repair and they offered so much help! Despite not being able to find a rim (due to availability) for my car, the service was definitely top notch. They even offered to take me to get some food while I was waiting for the diagnosis. Traveling with kids in a used RV cross country is not for the faint of heart. When things invariably break down, having someone who shows empathy, someone who takes the time to go over the problems and coming up with solutions. I drive a 2010 jeep and had a issue with the A/C. I found this shop online and stopped by an hour before closing. They were amazing and generous, talked me through all the possibilities and causes. They even took my jeep into a bay and checked on it right there and then. Definitely a shop I will be coming back to.

As I was traveling from UT to help my son and his little family move, we had car problems and arrived in Flagstaff not knowing anyone or how significant our car problems were. Went in needing a new water hose but the part was not going to be available till most likely Monday and we were driving back home to CA that day. He did what he could do seal the broken part at no charge and all with a happy demeanor. Not pushy but very informational all with a party in the back.

My boyfriend and I were driving through Arizona in our 88 Chevy camper van when we started having issues at 9pm. We found a spot to camp for the night and called several places in Page the next morning and nobody would even look at it for a week. We managed to make it to Flagstaff and we found this place on the way and gave them a call. They told us to stop by when we got there, so we did. When we arrived the owner came immediately to greet us and came to look at our vehicle in the parking lot as he knew this wasnt a desired pit stop. He let us know they were headed to lunch, but he would look at it as soon as they all got back in 45 min. When we came back they took it into the shop immediately and were all very friendly. When the problem was identified the technician came and got us immediately to show us what was going on, which we loved because we always want to know more. They charged an extremely fair price and we were out of there within 50 minutes. When we were finished he provided recommendations for what we can do in the future if we have similar problems and thanked us for coming in. Best experience I have had in an auto shop in a very long time! Highly recommended !

I live in Tucson and my son is at school at NAU. HIs car heater and defrost stopped working - not good in Flagstaff in January. :) I was referred here by a friend who lives in the area. From my first phone conversation to the car repairs being done and receipt sent my way I have been thoroughly impressed. Its difficult to manage these things long distance and they made the whole process completely comfortable and I trust them completely. I will be recommending this great shop to all of the parents I know who also have children with their cars at NAU.

Fast, friendly, reasonably priced. Ive been seeing FAR for several years for my Nissan XTerra and they always do great work at incredible speeds. They also offer a shuttle service to drop you off from the shop/ pick you up and take you to the shop when your car is ready. Would definitely recommend!

I called Flagstaff Auto Repair after visiting a chain car mechanic and getting told that my repairs would be approximately $2000. I talked to Dustin and he gave me a price estimate over the phone, quoting more than half the cost that the other place had told me. When I dropped off my car, Dustin told me that first they would check to make sure that my car actually needed the repairs that the first shop told me I needed. After they determined that I did, he told me of the repairs in language that I could understand, and charged me a very fair price for it. The customer service was absolutely fantastic, and they do great work.

I was on a road trip when my van broke down four times in four different cities in the span of 1 week. Luckily the fourth time was in Flagstaff where I found Flagstaff Auto Repair. They were able to diagnose and fix the issues that the other mechanics were unable to fix. I have driven the van for over 1000 miles since their repair without any issue. If I lived in Flagstaff this would be the shop that I would bring my vehicles to for repair.

Professional enough to tell me they cant start on my truck for 4 days and they recommended 2 other local shops that they are confident in. The shop I chose was great, fast and had me back on the highway in 2 hours. Their professional courtesy got me back on the highway quickly. That is class people. That is class.

These guys have worked on 2 of my vehicles. Both times they were excellent and did only what was needed. They did not try to upsell me to unneeded work, or do work i requested that the vehicle did not need.I am a very cautious person when it comes to mechanics, but these guys really are that rare shop that treats its customers well.

My experience was only bye phone I called to get help with a quote on pricing for my pt cruiser because I need a new starter put in and the lady answered the phone and said rudely that she was busy and couldnt answer my questions and asked me for my number so that she could xall me back to give me a quote and guess what I never received the call. To sum it all up they just lost a customer and money but hey now I know that I should shop around.

Took my clutch in to get fixed. They were able to take my car same day and wasted no time getting it done. Something I really appreciated from them was they gave me an excellent update on the condition of my engine and what they saw inside after the repair.

So I took my truck in to here to fix a starting problem that ended up being my fly wheel. After I took my truck to a different shop to get an estimate I was informed that I was missing a starter bolt and they had cross threaded one of the other bolts from when they checked the starter. Also I got the job done for $300 less then what they quoted me!

Gave them a call when smoke started coming out of my car. Dustin was absolutely friendly and patient. He kept me updated on what the problem was and got it fixed quickly. Definitely a place I would recommend.

Just bought a 1986 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with a 22re engine. (You car geeks out there will know what a great vehicle this is). Spent a day in the shop getting Free estimates on everything I want to fix. When the car developed some severe bad noise sounds, the great folks at Flagstaff auto quickly identified and fixed the source of the problem - broken U joints. The could easily have sold me a new clutch, but they recommended the most cost-effective way to get my car back on the road. And on the same day too!

Im really impressed with this place. I had my car towed there after it died and they fixed it simply enough to get it running for 60 bucks. After pick-up it was running rough so Howard did some research based on a new diagnostic test and again found a simple fix. He was also professional enough to explain the process to me technically instead of trying to dumb it down.My experience in the past has been that shops are eager to experimentally pull and replace parts until the car runs, all while you foot the bill for parts and labor. These guys will not do that. I will be recommending them to everyone I know.

Well, since the review dont let me reply. You get another bad star review. Apparently they dont have time to fix car but they do have time to read reviews and reply. Terrible customer service again. Do not lie about what you said. You kept stating many times Dustin tried to tell you, dont be a laughing stock. If you are Dustin then admit it, if not, what you know about what he said to me?? All he told me was he will call me back before 5pm (I brought the car over close to 9a.m) because he had to finish few people in the morning before me. That is why I was okay waiting the whole day. But if you are busy and there are 30 people ahead of me (according to the phone call I CALLED TO FOLLOW UP A DAY LATER), then should have said that in the beginning and admitted that it may take you few days to get back instead of giving people a fake timeline. At least I would know if I needed to go to another autoshop rather than thinking you will call me back. If I was impatient and wanted to be placed before others who have come before me, I would NOT have waited ALMOST 2 DAYS and called you MULTIPLE TIMES. Oh, and the owner said you will call me back first thing in the morning when I CALLED. That was another lie again. So say what you really said and dont even making things up or you will get more bad reviews. I am glad I am not spending my money at your place, neither I want to be your customer NOW NOR IN THE FUTURE. HOPEFULLY, THIS COMMENT I PUT SERVES AS A WARING to those in the future coming here because they have more than 4 stars reviews.

They were very kind and they worked quickly so we could get back on the road. I called my mechanic back home and he agreed with their diagnosis and pricing. Very upfront and honest! Our Tahoe had some very major issues and while we still have to take it in Monday for an error code on the 4wd its running up to par. Everything we needed to get done was explained throughly and asked permission to do before they did the work and charged us. They also did a full inspection and suggested new shocks for all 4. This suggestion also warned we wouldnt exactly need them changed but we would be wearing out the ball joints ($$$) and tires ($$) faster than they normally would. This suggestion shows me they are honest and reliable. The price quoted for that was exceptionally reasonable considering those are difficult to change out. High fives to everyone that has the pleasure of working here.

My transmission failed on my way to a hunting trip near Flagstaff, Az. While waiting to be towed into town, I googled best places in Flagstaff for auto repair/transmission work. Flagstaff Auto repair came up 1st. My wife also did some research from home and contacted Dustin at Flagstaff auto repair. She got a quote on the phone of about $2900, parts (Jasper transmission) and labor. Since I didnt really have the choice to fix it myself, I opted to go for it.They pulled it in right away and were able to diagnose transmission failure. The trans needed to be ordered(I get it. Small town). This was Wednesday. Trans wouldnt be there till Tuesday. While it was apart, they recommended seals on the transfer case. I said good idea. Dustin said theyd have done by Tuesday evening. Thats where my 5 star rating started going down. Their transmission jack was failing and their other one was broken. Truck wouldnt be done till Wednesday. Paid my bill and picked up my truck about 11am on Wednesday. Drove the truck about 30 miles and the transmission started leaking fluid and the front driveshaft seal was already seeping. Dropped the truck back to them. They took it in right away. When I returned, I was told that the seal on the kick down cable was folded over and leaking. Oh yeah, they replaced the transfer case front seal again too. All they people I spoke to were very professional and upbeat(Dustin, Dutch and Storm).In closing, I would give Flagstaff Auto repair another chance if the occasion arose. And just to be clear, I am no another shop bashing the competition.

Go here. Great experience. Extremely friendly people, good price, and fixed what we needed them to fix without pressuring us to do a bunch of extra stuff. We are out-of-towners and we needed a mechanic to fix a complicated electrical issue and some brakes issues before we got on the road again. A brakes issue is a chance for unethical mechanics to tell you to replace everything - they didnt! They showed me (literally took me into the garage) which brakes were bad (I agreed) and replaced those, and just realigned the other ones. They showed me exactly what they were going to do before doing it. They also gave us a ride to and from their shop, fixed a really annoying electrical problem in no time, were okay with me changing the order a couple times, and worked with us on the price (which was already very fair and inexpensive). More than anything, just really nice and competent mechanics. If I lived in Flagstaff, I would definitely, definitely, be a repeat customer.

Let me first start out by saying how highly flagstaff automotive was recommended to me by close friends and also other online reviews.The customer service Dustin gave me was unacceptable. He told me over the phone my 4Runner would be done by Thursday, and I told him I would be in Friday to pick it up in which he said, “Okay it will be done Thursday.” I go in Friday morning (after hearing nothing from flag auto on Thursday) to pick it up. Dustin told me it wasn’t ready, and to call back in 4 hours. I call back in 4 hours, and again, still not ready. They tell me to call back again in an hour, I do, and still not ready... they finally call me at 2pm saying it is ready. 6 hours after I had initially come in the day AFTER he had told me the vehicle would be finished.When I go in for the second time on Friday to pick up my vehicle, I asked for some type of discount for my troubles( Dustin told me it was going to be done Thursday and was now the end of the business day Friday, I organized a ride that morning, got rid of my loaner car, called the shop multiple times, missed a morning meeting because I was counting on my car being done). After asking for some type of discount, I was laughed at.He went on to tell me that “If I knew anything about mechanics/automotive then you know issues come up that delay the schedule”. Of course I know this, and it is the SERVICE ADVISORS JOB (aka Dustin) to communicate with the customer to inform them about such time delays, which he ABSOLUTELY DID NOT.Dustin, the service advisor, told me I had already received a $100 discount because of a “stripped bolt” that was previously on the truck, and said he wouldn’t give any other discounts. I told him that part was original and Dustin told me that the Factory Toyota plant must have stripped the bolt in original assembly which is absolutely ridiculous. I told him I had never heard of this happening in my life in which he proceeded to tell me that “A kid my age without much mechanical experience probably wouldn’t have ever heard of this happening”. Toyota practices a quality control procedure known as six sigma. Please look into this further before claiming such ridiculous statements.Also, he went on to tell me about how he has taken classes on how to “handle people like me”. What does that mean? Handling a concerned customer about their vehicle? Maybe he should have paid attention to avoid situations like these where HIS SHOP screwed up.I then asked him why he didn’t call Thursday, (when he said the car would be done), and he told me, “Because you said you would pick it up Friday, and today’s Friday”... Even though I went in Friday morning to pick the vehicle up and it wasn’t done...In fact, it wasn’t done until the end of of the whole business day almost 7 hours later.Then, he proceeded to blame me, (the customer), as to not being specific as to the time I would pick it up Friday. (Told me it would be done Thursday before they closed) He continued to make very rude comments and remarks the whole time I was dealing with him, face to face. I left not trusting the quality of work done after my horrible experience there. From the beginning, he justified everything that had happened as not their fault, and put the customer on the defensive immediately.I have never been treated with such disrespect by any company in my life. I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend this mechanic shop to anyone under any circumstances. I am shocked as to how this company is still in business.MANY other reviews posted on various sights show this as a reoccurring scenario. Also, whatever deceiving reply Dustin/Howard come up with will not truly shed light on this situation. Their reply will twist the truth to make Flagstaff Automotive appear completely not at fault. Again, THIS REPAIR SHOP IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Broke down a few miles away had a service tech there within 15min and was able to get it started after 10min of looking at it, he new exactly what was wrong and was able to fix on the spot, so I was able to continue with my trip!

Used them once to repair vehicle and it was costly ($1400.00) but needed. Two years later vehicle begins making a sound that i suspect is from the same issue they “repaired”. I subsequently take it back to them to see if it’s the same issue. After three days of troubleshooting everything but what I told them I suspected, they finally state they suspect it’s the issue they repaired but won’t know until I pay another cost almost equal to the previous repair on a part that rarely breaks in a vehicles lifetime much less twice in two years. The problem was obviously not diagnosed nor repaired correctly the first time Won’t be going there again.

Excellent quality and good prices. Honest. Ive taken my vehicles here for several years and can rely on them to tell me if something needs to be done -- really needs to be done, not done so they can charge me more. Example: they recommended I change a belt that appeared to be wearing out. I agreed -- they showed me the belt after they took it off and it was just about to break, which would have left me stranded somewhere. The cost was only about $20, so it was not like they needed to do the repair for the money. They are very friendly. can usually get my vehicle in within a day or two (depending on the repair), and often the same day, especially for oil changes. I highly recommend this repair shop -- they are great!

I purchased brake pads the night before (but was unable to borrow sockets to change them). I called ahead to flagstaff auto, they said no problem they would have an open bay for me when I got there. I got there, said I have the rear pads all I need is someone to swap them for me real quick, dont worry about rotors (was on a tight schedule). They said no problem..... took another hour until they actually got the vehicle into a bay!... then kept telling me I needed to put new rotors on all wheels, they didnt even measure them or look at them (the upsell), and I had already stated, please dont worry about rotors. Then it takes him 30 min to do an estimate....Basically a 30min job turned into 4 hours, if I would have known they were going to jerk me around, I would have found another garage.Another star removed for making me reply to their really defensive reply.

We were just passing through flagstaff when our check engine light came on. The manager was very helpful and explained the cause of the check engine light very well. He also explained that it was not an urgent problem and we could continue on our trip. He was very honest man and did not trry to mislead us. Highly recomemded.

Fixed my problem in 30 minutes for about $60. Other mechanics I talked to told me it would take a few days and $1600. Staff was friendly and, obviously, far more knowledgeable than other places Ive visited.

Went out of their way to come pick up my truck at work to fix it, then out of their way to pick me up after work to get my truck. Was very honest with me and I recommend them to anyone for automotive!

Picked this place because of the reviews but having bad experience so far. Dustin confirmed to do the work but then he was unable to and making excuses. Instead of apologizing, he tried to find a way out. Thats what I call bad custoner service.

Great service, got my car in and out of the shop in no time and the waiting room was very clean and comfortable.

The shop did not do anything in car and it cost me 110?!

Be ready to spend 340 dollars for a new water pump that costs 45 dollars...and takes 1.5 hrs to replace
