I came to this place all the way up from NJ to visit a friend and we shared some pastries and desserts plus coffee, the place has lots of personality, the staff is friendly and courteous. Their products tasted heavenly, not too sweet, just the right amount, they were fresh made and looked amazing. It was hard to choose out of so many options. They definitely have something for every person. I would love to come back. We should have one Buttercooky in NJ ❤️
Always had a positive experience! But this time my 5 year olds cake was made in a hurry and ended up with a massive hole where the fondant design was too heavy for the cake.We used props to fix the problem! But his cake pictures couldnt show is name. It was important to make his cake the highlight of the party. But unfortunately this time we had to cover it up.
Lots and lots of delicious looking baked goods! It’s a nicely decorated place. There servers were fast & friendly. Good prices too.
What a beautiful bakery. Theyre definitely a busy one but its worth the small wait. Staffs are so friendly and eager to help and it just makes the experience even better. We had a surprise birthday at work and had this chocolate cake pre-ordered. The process was smooth and the end result was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the cake and this will surely be a spot to return to. Thank you for great service and a delicious cake. 🥮
Great Bakery. Tons of options you could never try everything in one lifetime. They are so delicious. The cakes are great. My family loves their cakes. Staff is very patient and helpful.
Check and double check your receipt before you pay. Pastries are good, but I ordered 1/2 a pound of rainbow cookies and was charged for ONE AND A HALF POUNDS at $21 a pound. Such a ripoff.
Ive consistently given Buttercooky good business for about 9 years, and have brought friends, family, and business colleagues to also support this place. After today, however, we wont be giving this place any more business because of their massive 20% increase in orders AND that stupid 3% credit card fee they throw on their consumers. So were talking about a 23% increase just to buy an 8-inch cake?! HELL NO. Well be buying at their competitors shop instead. Were truly disappointed, but wont be dumb enough to keep buying at these dramatically inflated rates.
This is the best bakery on Long Island. From the food itself to the service, there arent enough words to accurately describe how great this place is. Walking into the bakery gives off the same vibe as getting to a family party with your loved ones you havent seen in quite some time. 45 minute drive is beyond worth it to me as it does not feel right to get my baked goods from anywhere else.
I bought 2 round vanilla cakes from buttercooky bakery to celebrate my daughters birthday and mine. They were both very dry and had more filling than cake. I was recommended to buttercooky and was very disappointed. I called to speak with a manager but was told there were on vacation and no one there could help me. 50 years in business and cant get a vanilla cake right. Never again...
Came on a Friday night and there was about a 10 minute wait, which was well worth it. This is one of the few remaining Italian/American bakeries that has a combination of good variety and taste. Staff were very friendly. Menu includes different types of seasonal/holiday cakes/pies as well as classic cakes such as tiramisu. They also have an assortment of creative cupcakes, breads such as challah, and classic Italian cookies such as sandwich jelly cookies with really tasty white chocolate covering, as well as rainbow cookies.
If I could give no stars I would! Ordered a fifty person cake. I had books made for the top of it . They were two inches big. Looked ridiculous on the cake. The owner told me it’s because of the size of the cake. Does that make sense? Make the books fit according to the size of the cake I never heard of such a thing! Line is out the door, quality not worth it, service not worth it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!
Idk what is this bakery hyped for but i have been so disappointed with their cakes one too many times. This time i tired funfetti cake. And it was so disappointing that i had to write a review. Tooo much cream that oily and flavor less. Cake is so little in there and dry. Whoever i got cookies from there and they were delicious. Their cakes always disappoint me way too much mousse or cream.
I have been ordering from this bakery for many many years. I always call ahead for pick up. My most recent purchase was this past Saturday for a tres leches cake. As always, I called for pick up. I told them I needed writing and that I would be picking it up within 10 minutes. They collected payment over the phone and I picked up my cake. I call today to place an order for pick up and a very rude female employee tells me that they don’t do pick up because people don’t always pick up the cakes. I told her that I had just placed an order for pick up a couple of days ago and that I paid for it over the phone and picked it up within ten minutes. She kept telling me that the person who took my order made a mistake and that they do not take orders for pick up. I am extremely appalled with her customer service skills. I asked to speak to someone else and the gentleman that got on the phone was not helpful. He told me that if I want to place an order for pick up it has to be a different size than the cakes in the showcase. I have never experienced such horrible service from this bakery before. My family and I have been purchasing cakes from them for more than a decade. It makes me extremely sad that they have such rude employees working for them. Needless to say, I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
Lots and lots of sweet tasty treats, so many varieties to choose from, 💕, cake decorations will blow your mind. Line may be long but its worth the wait. It helps to call and other ahead. Employees are respectful and helpful.
What can you say that hasnt been said a thousand times about the best bakery on long Island. I ordered a Napoleon cake for my wifes birthday. They decorated it with yellow and pink flowers and the happy birthday mommy was done in yellow and pink like intertwined amazing. It was absolutely delicious as it is all the time. The place was wrapped around with customers due to the storm coming but with their trained and great staff they moved the line very quickly.
Custom made to order cake turned out excellent and delicious too. Effortlessly pick-up.
You can get any cake or cookies you think of an prices are very affordable. They are the best an the staff is very friendly an helpful, they treat everyone like family
Not worth the hype! Stopped in recently while in the neighborhood and had not been here in a long time. Girls working in there have a major attitude, no one wants to help, they are all just walking around looking around. Cake displays are messy and not up kept well. I was a little grossed out by this. No masks in the store, no gloves by the employees. With the same hands they are taking your payment they are putting your order together. This is for both the Floral Park and Manhasset locations. Save your time and money and head over to another bakery. Lulus bakery in Fresh Meadows is WAY better than this place!
Many moons ago this place used to be amazing. Now the quality has declined and the prices have increased. Ordered a cannoli, lobster tail, and black forest mini cake for $15. The cannoli was perfect, lobster tail- pastry was soft when it should be crispy, black forest- was an overwhelmingly thick mousse/ chocolate Ganache with a cherry inside (not what I was expecting).
What I ask for I didnt get for my baby girl 1st birthday. Put in an order since Thursday and the pick up was a Monday. My 4 year old could of done a better job. But thank God for one of the girl who works there made it really pretty.... the cake was so dry. Im so disappointed. I always do my familys cake here. But after this thats it Im done. NEVER AGAIN
Totally disappointed with my last order. Half a sheet cake with two fillings and a design. I was told the design would be layed out flat on the cake, it wasnt...it was in 3D, making storage nearly impossible when your sharing a workplace refrigerator. The rep never said it would be 3D however it was written on the order form. Their claim was, it was an upgrade. Someone should have called to inform me. After paying $220 for this cake they could have offered to take something off the bill. Be careful when ordering your cake with a design...Im done.
My goodness!.... they made the perfect cake for my hubby... just the way I requested it, there was a little glitch but they were creative in the fix..... perfect!
Must try tres leche cake amazing food, very friendly staff
My favorite bakery! I had used a bakery named Everest for years and they went out of business. I was crushed!! However, I stumbled upon Buttery Cookie and it was a cake/dessert lovers dream. I was so happy because I cant bake to save my life. Ive convinced my family and friends to go here and we havent ventured away yet!! You must try strawberry short & cheese cakes; they have minis! The minis are a life saver because, Id have to buy whole cakes; cholesterol level is doing quite well I must say! Oh, my favorite is crumb cake, to die for!! Not for everyone but try it!
Have been ordering for years from them. Had a cake ordered for a birthday and paid by CASH. The order was a mess, not the colors I ordered and the manager Anthony did not give a satisfactory resolution. Very disappointed and unfortunately I cannot dispute the charge because it was cash. Will not purchase there anymore. It was a masquerade theme, purple, black & gold.
Love the 3 leches cake, my favorite . Exelente bakery, keep like that.please!!!!
This place is the worst. You pay people todo nothing. If you pay $100 for a cakeYou shouldn’t have to wait in line for an hour with every other person to pick up when you paid already. Your people sit at the cakeCounter doing nothing and couldn’t care less about service. You need someone to manage your operations. I will absolutely never use them again.
Delicious pastries and desserts. A great variety.
The place looks nice but wouldnt buy again if it was the last bakery on the Earth. So I spend all this money on special cake and the when the day to pick up comes, I have to wait on line. Probably have to spend another 45 mins to pick up. The lady on the desk for special cake order is just sitting there and I have to wait with all the customers who are ordering regular orders. I mean have two separate lines for regular order and spacial orders. That is very nice while employee just sits there waiting for someone to place special order while the customers who paid and here for pick up only has to wait with everyone. They treat their customer who order special cake like this. Would NOT recommend this place. Order from small neighborhood shops rather. They will treat you better. BAD taste in mouth before I even ate the cake.Lol. Went back and manager told me thats the policy. He fails to understand that this is a lame policy and policies are not set in stone. Sometimes policies have to be amended depending on the situation. His policy resulted in more than hour for me.
My husband and I went in to get a birthday cake for my mother-in-laws birthday as we had heard RAVE reviews from friends and coworkers. The shop is beautiful and the cases look stunning! We chose the vanilla flower cake, and sfogiatelle, tiramisu, and a couple rolls. My husband loved the rolls, and the tiramisu (although the brandy was heavy handed), and the sfogiatelle was good, a little burnt on the bottom. The cake was a disaster. There was an unexpected layer of chocolate pudding? something runny that I was not expecting. The cake layers had ok flavour, but a little dry. The frosting was a CRIME! It was the taste and consistency of vegetable shortening! No sweetness, no vanilla, no flavour at all! It stuck to the roof of my mouth like wax. We politely ate around it at the party and threw 3/4 of it out.Update: We ordered cupcakes for a work function and the frosting was nasty again. I dont understand how something so heavy can taste like nothing...
We have ordered many cakes for lots of occasions and they look and taste amazing. The cakes, cookies, pastries and even coffee are all delicious. The customer service is impeccable too. Dont know how all of the employees are skinny. Love this place!
So disappointed. I purchased a custom 2 tire cake for my daughters 16th Birthday. Paid $250 for it. When I went to the store to pick up the cake I was informed that I needed to wait on the only line they had for people who were purchasing items for Mothers Day as well as placing orders for custom cakes, cookie and pie order. I waited on the line for 1/2 an hour. When they brought out the cake for me to see I notice that the white fondant on the top layer was smudged and streaked with black and silver smudges and dots (Not part of the design) the back of the Pink Bow with was the high light of the case was discolored with green and blue smudge marks. When I pointe out the issues to the young man behind the counter he said that he would take it back to the kitchen to see what they could do about the issues. Granted they sprayed the cake and the issue was resolved. The same young man boxed up my cake and placed it every so gently in my car. I drove home and had my husband take the cake out of the card and place it on the table which we were displaying the cake for the party that same evening. Mind you the cake was going to be served within 3 hours I specifically asked if the cake needed to be refrigerated and was told NO. Well imagine my surprise when the bow cracked in half and fell off the cake. I called the store the next day since it was after hours when the cake broke. I spoke to Anthony the manager who asked me to supply pictures of the before and after and told me he would get back to me. I had to make a follow up phone call and still havent heard back I would never use or recommend Buttercooky again.
Great place, great cakes, great food. Highly recommended. The best in the area. And the new BC Bistro next door is great too! Check it out
I ordered a cake for my mother- in law’s birthday. I ordered on a Thursday to pick up on Saturday. After I ordered the cake I received an email confirmation of the date pick and time and it was correct. When I picked it up on Saturday and after waiting a while, the confused girl said I was supposed to pick it up on Sunday. Of course I rechecked my confirmation and my receipt and showed her my information. Yet in seemed like the person who took my order put the correct date but wrong day??? The worst part is the solution they gave me…to pick it up on Sunday !!! Why would I order a cake to pick up on Saturday and they tell me to pick up Sunday??? I was disgusted and felt disrespected. I have always ordered cakes here. But I have noticed the decline in service due to the high schoolers hired and lack of management. The manager wasn’t even there…I shouldn’t have to babysit a cake order!!!
I could not find anywhere to make a rainbow specialized cake for my 5 year olds birthday and they did it!!!! It is sooooo delicious and it was very pretty!!! I paid a great price and was very happy with the communication, price, and flavor!!! I took a bite out of the cake before the picture it looked sooooo good I couldnt wait. We added a little ice cream in the side 😉
Very very poor customer service, Buttercooky highers a bunch of kids to do professional work. This one kid last week messed up my 500.00 order and claims he was not told about the order. Will not mention HIS name, however the fact of the matter is that Im tired of spending thousands of dollars at your bakery every year with the poorest of customer service. The manager should be held responsible for not training and educating his/her staff well. Will not waste my money at this place again.
When in the neighborhood I stop by Buttercooky Bakery, their Tres leches cakes ir individual size are amazing. Among there various selections if desserts are also good but havent tried them all yet.
This place is great. Top quality everything. If youve never been you must make a trip down there.
Baked goods at Buttercooky really are better because its baked with butter. Everything is just so much richer and more flavorful compared to other bakeries. There are so many things to choose from, its pretty common to be lost for quite a while trying to decide what to get. Fortunately, the staff is extremely helpful and will be more than happy to provide more information about every item. I love eclairs, and there are around 10 different types of eclairs to choose from. There are also some giant baked goods like the big apple turnover that is at least a good pound worth of buttery sugar goodness. This is a place that one should be cautious about visiting, especially if on a diet.
Very large selection. Metered parking available.A little pricy. I spent 30$ but not sure how.We got an assortment 2 large cookies (both very dry), a watermelon shaped/designed cookie (hard & dry) the cheeseburger cupcake (dry), macaroon (tasty), a Oreo mini cheesecake and a mini fruit tart. It was great visually. The taste was okay. Young staff very friendly. Just so you know in advance.... If you use your card and not cash you pay a 3-4% fee. It was a good experience to visit a bigger high traffic bakery.
The pastries are fine; the customer service - not so much. Never saw a single employee with a smile on their face. During the last visit I was blatantly ignored by multiple staff for a good 10 minutes of standing right at the register. When I finally asked why I am being blatantly ignored, I was told we assumed somebody else must have already helped you... I guess customers who have been helped frequently just stick around at the register enjoying the view?. No apologies were offered. So will definitely be my last visit. Such a stunning difference with the most friendly staff at the Manhasset location too
BUTTERCOOKY BAKERY IS A 5 STAR BIZ THE COOKIES, DANISH,CAKES OUT OF THIS WORLD RECOMMEND TO GO THEIR
I only get the tres leches cake and its always great. Cant comment on anything else.
They charge me $600 for a 2 tier fondant cake with a bow. They were supposed to do two shades of purple. The only fondant on the cake was the bow which was glued on and fell off with seconds into driving I thought I would be able to fix it but couldn’t because the was no support to attach it to the icing on the cake was very tin and the cake was 90% filling and 10%cake. The cake was badly spayed instead of using color fondant so the bow scrap of the paint. The cake was so bad we couldn’t display it.
Very disappointed by this place after going here for two years. We ordered a beautiful birthday cake from them that cracked on its own. We showed them the picture of the cake and was told that it was our fault for it cracking and fell apart. The manager was very rude about the situation and came up with the world of excuses. We did not receive a refund or an apology from Buttercooky.
They have pretty good tiramisu. Ive tried the pistachio moose also which was delicious. Could br a bit more organized behind the counter but overall great bakery.
First birthday cake and they ruined it....No one ate that cake . I ordered cake with fruit in it . It came out all mushy inside .Everything was running into each other fruit filling cream ...Very disappointed ☹️It was my sons first birthday, jungle theme cake but didnt taste well at allNo body ate ....Horrible color and font wasnt good either ... Messy handwritingSeems like they made it in hurry.......They ask $125 for 8 cakeFont wasnt good they compensate $10I didnt ask for itBut since they didnt have any Baker inside at 5 pmThey couldnt frix itBut I didnt have any option just take itBut font was compromised but cake should taste good but it wasnt good eitherCake was compromised tooBought $ 115 mess on the tableWe bought cakes earlier those were amazing .I guess more customers they get, less value they give to their customers, wont effect they lose one or few.Not ordering again !I had to change my last review !!
My experience has generally been very good, and I love that there is a wide selection of cakes, pastries, cookies etc, but sometimes if you buy bread be very careful that they charge you for the right bread. I often buy sourdough bread, and on two occasions the person that helped me, different people, overcharged me for the bread, rang it up as an Italian loaf instead of sourdough. So instead of paying 12.25 for 5 loaves of bread, I was charged 18.75.. it should be 2.45 per bread not 3.65. So buyers please beware!!!
I love they have mini cakes and tarts so that you can try many different types.
Delicious pastries great customer service! I order my cake from them Im sure its going to be great
Pretty good bakery. Never had any issues. Cant wait for my birthday next month.
This is such a nice big bakery so it surprises me that they don’t have a single vegan option available. Their staff is nice so 3 stars but it’s 21st century so whoever is deciding the menu clearly don’t care about customer needs.
Possibly the best bakery on long Island. Amazing cakes, cookies and pastries.
Their Tres leches cake is out of this world. I LOVE IT.
First off all young people behind the counter nobody knows anything. Second no prices I hate that. Third a linzer tart is $4.75 3 pieces of rugula $4.50. To expensive I dont need to go there and get robbed.
Always great to stop in here. Get an apple tart
Too expensive$$$$. I think theyre taking advantage of their customers. A cake that feeds about 15-20 people should not cost over $200 dollars. I dont care what the design is. I went to another bakery and got the same cake i wanted for much less.
AMAZING!!!!! Definitely a go to spot for a cake of any occasion they have so much variety and Ive yet to be disappointed with their yummy cakes and pasteries. Also a great spot to go to should you have a craving for a snack or two with friends and family.
I tried trimaisu itsss so delicious.
Hello all!! Ive been recommended to go to this bakery by a couple of my colleagues, and I decided to give it a try this past week.. Being welcomed by a few of the staff as I walked in, I have noticed a couple things that didnt quite sit it right with my spirit. Being a black woman, I have experienced the ups and downs with discrimination in the workplace. Not implicating that I know the specific scenarios, but I overheard a Caucasian male, which i learned was the manager, speaking to a worker of his about chit-chatting in the workplace. At the same time I am overhearing the conversation, I see a little group of Caucasian females in the corner talking non stop, being that I was in the store for about 10 minutes before I got helped, seeing that this group ignored me. Other than that experience, I didnt get to enjoy my vanilla/chocolate flower cake that was beautifully displayed in the showcase due to the fact that it was very dry. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but my experience was not very up to par.. I wish this bakery the best and hope that they can learn from my experience.
I bought a mothers day cake from them yesterday and personally it was very disappointing. I dont know what these other people are tasting because my cake tasted bland. Presentation was cute but baby its not for me. Im a cake lover and my taste buds are truly unhappy. Not to be mean but if I could rate this a 0 I would. Have a blessed day!
I have been here twice. Honestly, I dont understand the hype. The pastries look amazing, fresh, clean and everything here looks really delicious and beautiful but none of it tastes like anything. The first time I ordered an assorted variety of pastries because I just couldnt pick one. The Italian rainbow cookies dont have that almond flavor which is staple in the recipe. Sadly, all of the cakes were dry bland and simple, none of them had any stand out flavor. Even their apple turnovers are a complete miss, the crust is something between a shortbread cookie and a pie crust, not flaky, or sweet. The apple filling texture is fresh and lite but again doesnt taste like anything, you cant taste the apples or the cinnamon in it but you can see both. Two stars for appearance. I really wish I enjoyed their pastries a lot more, maybe Im not ordering the right things? Not sure.
Speedy serviceTons of options for everyoneWould recommend
Amazing...any birthday v go to buttercooky...
3 stars JUST for the tres leches and the red velvet mini cake *chefs kiss* Everything else has been subpar in my opinion, especially the cookies.
Love their cakes. The people who work are all nice and very helpful. Theres a line yet its okay. Love their peach and apple pies. We always go for cheesecakes, finger dip chocolate and fruit pies.
I’ve been coming here for the last few years to purchase birthday cakes. The staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. But as far as the craftsmanship and designs... I’m sad to say. That they’re very mediocre at best for the prices I’ve paid for the cakes I’ve received from here, more than once. And more than once I’ve been extremely disappointed. Designs and details that I’ve pacifically asked for on more than one occasion wasn’t done, but the price that was quoted to me was paid. This place is good for some coffee, pastries, and regular looking cakes. BUT.... As far as cakes that entails details and designs go elsewhere. Morning forwarded I’m no longer getting any type of cake that calls for details from Buttercooky Bakery.
