Lovely ambiance and food was nice, the staff were also lovely and very helpful.They are dog friendly and are obeying all COVID restrictions.The only downsides were that the pasta and burger dishes could do with a little more salt and the portions were a bit on the big side. Otherwise a lovely pub and would recommend!

Since discovering this gem a week ago, Ive been in thrice! Twice for drinks, once for food. Attentive (without being pushy) service, reasonably priced drinks (in Hove?! I know!), comfortable setting and nice atmosphere. The food was also good, with a wide range of options to suit any mood or occasion.Ive only moved to the area recently, and this is soon becoming my favourite local!(Special shout out to the curly haired barmaid who truly is a ray of sunshine!)

Excellent pub, nice staff and good food. Wasnt expecting much, a very quiet street surrounded by housing, but Ill be back. Its a gastro pub, without any of the gastro snottiness. And the only pub in the world that actually gives you enough biscuits for the cheeseboard. Had a great time.

GREAT PUB, GREAT STAFF, GREAT FOOD.I found The Better Half when searching for a good roast dinner in the area. We were not disappointed, I booked a table for 5 pm yesterday 05.09.21.From the taking of our booking to the paying of the the bill the staff were very friendly and accommodating, my wife and I both had pork with all the trimmings which was exceptional, the best pub roast we have had in many a year.Also good choice of beers and wines I will have to get the wife to drive next time.

Loved this pub. The starter meat platter was fabulous, we really loved the fig and honey chutney. Also, the linguine was amazing... its a very big portion! Definitely coming back

Best roast Ive had in Brighton, pork belly was incredible, more a food pub than somewhere to just drink, has a more restaurant feel and quality of food.

Good value food and nice beer. Live Jazz on when I was there at lunchtime, which was good but made it difficult to chat which is what we wanted to do.

Popped into The better half after hearing a lot about their food and atmosphere. We went for a mid-week Eat out to help out meal and were not disappointed! The staff were super friendly, the decor is perfect and the food was incredible. Highly recommend to anyone considering for food or a nice pub for a drink.

Fabulous roast this Sunday. The beef was fab. Sticky toffee pud to boot. Really cant say enough about this place.

Dont seem to have much luck with this pub. The first time we went there, was a Monday night, and the pub shut around 9:30; with the staff turning the lights off where we sat and still drinking. Tried to have a drink 3 Sundays ago and they shut the pub as we got there. I guess I need to go there during the day 😄

Outstanding roast! 10/10, I’ve been to quite a few pubs for Sunday roasts in my 8 years living in Hove. Today, I was blown away by the quality and taste of theirs... Will definitely be returning and recommend highly.

Just visited here after lockdown and we are so impressed! Such a lovely local pub with a cozy vibe and really friendly staff. The food was incredible, in particular the meat platter, vegan burger, pie and bangers and mash. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Just before lock down number two visited here for an evening meal having also had Sunday lunch before. Lovely food, staff, good value and great selection of beers. Hopefully they weather the lockdown to come out fighting.

Exceptional staff. Really great safety management for covid. We didnt have a booking but they did what they could to get us a table. Great food and wonderful service. Dog friendly. Kid friendly but adult atmosphere in a good way

Me and my family absolutely love this place and come for dinner regularly. Fantastic food, amazing quality highly recommended and great price too which is pretty unheard of! Fantastic vegan options- particularly the Sunday roast.Great decor and cozy particularly in the winter but fab in the summer too.Barman with shaved head is a great (sorry I dont know your name!) one of the friendliest in the city, really makes the place even more amazing.

Went there with my wife and son recently, lovely atmosphere, we felt comfortable and relaxed. For starters we had prawns and chicken liver pate with rustic toast, both looked and tasted great. The main courses were shepherds pie and sausages with mash.The food arrived surprisingly fast considering the high quality and taste of the dishes.Finnished up with excellent coffees.Highly recommended with friendly staff.

Good food and beer. Lovely staff. Lots of seating. Good local pub. Not pretentious. The owner is very present which is nice. Good variety on the menu but not too much. A mix of booths and tables. Lots on beer tap and a wide selection of bottles.

Have to say the service in this pub is a step above the rest. We visited as a group and they were tentative and down to earth. The roast dinners were tasty and I enjoyed the vegan option. Speaking of which the vegan and veggie options are good and as any good pub would, they offer the option of extras such as Yorkshire pudding or gravy. Fine selection of beers as well. One of the best pubs in Hove!!

Superb dog-friendly place with fantastic food. The pub has a nice warm feeling and has a nice buzz as it was nicely filled. The food is superb, the menu is short (it fits on a single page), but it has something for everyone. A mix of British pub food done excellently, veggie options including a Malaysian-style curry, steak, fresh fish and burgers, cheeseboards and more. There didnt seem to be any vegan options except the hummus as starter and the side salad, so bare that in mind if visiting with a vegan.Everyone found something they fancied. The desserts are all classic British deserts - you cant go wrong.The Scotch egg in the starters is fantastic, but massive for a starter! Cut it in half and share it with someone so you have room for the rest.We loved our visit to The Better Half and would definitely visit again.

What a delightful and delicious gastro pub. My daughter took me in there for a meal after recently buying here new home not too far away. The decor is fun and quirky, but the food was outstanding. I was only sad I could not stay longer, but look forward to my next visit :-)

Really friendly and accommodating staff on a Sunday afternoon. Amazing roasts with high quality ingredients. Went with a few friends and we loved the both set up for privacy and cosiness. Bloody Mary was a little expensive at a tenner but everything else was a perfect 10.😊

Was at The Better Half Pub on 6 July and had a really good time. The staff were welcoming and obliging, and the food and speciality gins were excellent. Highly recommend going to this place, and I hope to make many more visits when in Hove.
