Cute, locally owned homemade ice cream shop in Old Town. There was a line out the door when we went but it moved quickly. They have 29 flavors that change (dont know how often) as well as sorbet, sherbet and fro-yo. Cups, cones, chocolate covered cones, toppings, mix-ins... all the things. Customer service was great and the ice cream was delicious! You can sit inside or there are 3 different areas to sit outside. We loved it.
I had the French toast ice cream in a chocolate-dipped cone. The ice cream tasted very fresh. As an Italian, Ive had some the best ice creams in the world. Though it doesnt quite compare to Italian gelato, this was some of the best ice cream Ive had in the states. The staff will allow you to try as many samples as you like. Would definitely go here again!
This place has a cool friendly Vibe and is a Fort Collins original since 1987. They have a bunch of different good flavors and will make pretty much anything you want. The place is staffed by friendly people. If you have people coming from out of town and want to show them something that is uniquely Fort Collins I suggest this place.
Have been here several times and the flavors are always muted. Went again and the Blue Moon was the worst Ive ever had, it was basically vanilla flavor. The cappuccino and pecan flavors also had little in the way of taste. Ditched the ice cream and went to Kilwins instead. Great staff though.
This ice cream shop is by far the oldest in Fort Collins, and it defines home made. Its the place locals go. It has unique as well as traditional flavors. Best of all is how they will chop things into your ice cream - cookies, M&Ms, Reeses, and much more. Nice outdoor porch in front, and some nice tables hidden outside the back door. After you get your cone, check out the murals while you walk down the alley stretching S out the back door.
Lots of choices. I didnt think the chocolate had much taste. BR has better quality
I was excited to try this place but I will likely never return. The employees there tonight (two young boys, and a young girl) obviously do not value customers. I know they are young but it was truly disappointing. First their lack of communication let me get forgotten about and it allowed someone to skip me. I was speechless and my anxiety literally caught my tongue, so that is my fault for not saying something and making a scene. Then when one of the boys finally asked if I have been helped I said no, but I would love to be helped. And then got a nasty look from all three of them. Then to top it off, what I ordered was not even correct.I recommend my go-to Ben and Jerrys or literally anywhere else.
This place is so awesome! Every time I hit up Big Als I make it a tradition to go to Walrus! Just so many flavors, the line is out the door almost always but theres a reason for that and its worth the wait.
Clearly a popular place with the locals. The wait in line was worth it. Our group tried a good mix of flavors including mint chip, Swiss dark chocolate, Jack chip and Bing cherry. They even do half scoops so you can try 2 flavors in one scoop. 😋
I recommend this place highly the people were really nice prices were reasonable and I thought they wouldnt be. And the ice cream was excellent
Been here a lot over the past few years. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Always an excellent selection of ice cream with all the toppings you can imagine. And I really appreciate the delicious vegan options. Theres a reason this place has been a downtown staple for so long!!
Ehh, its good, but not worth the hassle
I’ve always loved walrus the ice cream is always good and the staff is always nice, but when I went in this evening me and my group were waiting to order and had an extremely rude and over the top young lady move us along, I’m not angry at being moved along I am more annoyed at the manner it was done, she didn’t do it just to my group but did it to just about everyone behind us. I asked one of the guys there about her and he informed me that she’s one of the owners. It makes me question if I really want to bring my company to Walrus if that’s how the owners treat guests. Plus if that’s how they treat guests I can only imagine how they treat the employees.
Stopped in for the first time. Great selection of icecream and it tastes great!! Will definitely be going back.
Lots of variety in flavors, but the dairy-free cappuccino flavor wasn’t tasty. The bathroom was quite visibly dirty, especially the sink.I appreciate, however, that they have outdoor seating and the indoor tables are spaced widely-apart.
Can I say this is the worlds best Ice Creamery? No. I havent been to all of them yet, but I can say this is definitely one of the best.
Cute shop with wonderful service and ice cream. They also had some great dairy free options.
Wanted ice cream late at night and found this shop. Loved it. Large variety of options and it was amazing. Definitely a great place for ice cream
Great staff Wonderful selection of ice cream. However, I ordered coconut chip and I didnt taste any coconut. Tasted like plain vanilla chip. I would go back and try new flavors and always ask for a sample first.
I really like this place, but I know I speak for many others when I say I would really love to see more vegan options. I enjoy going, but there are only two to choose from so I often opt to get ice cream from the store since I have such a larger selection of fun flavors. If they had a few more fun flavors that were vegan, I’d be taking my family wayyy more often and I have several friends that would go more, as well 🥰
Love that they have gluten free cones and a large seating area. This last visit, however, the ice cream was pretty lame. We got strawberry and cappuccino, and felt like they were bland and diluted. After finishing our scoops, we actually went across the street to kilwins for the same flavors. (For science!)Way more flavor kilwins.
My husband is prone to getting severe respiratory infections, so we have been locked down very tightly over the last 14 months. We took a drive to Fort Collins to break the monotony and decided to get some ice cream while we were there. There was a short wait. But a very friendly young man greeted us warmly when we got to the front of the line. This shop has a large selection of ice creams and sherbets. I chose butter pecan. My husband got butter pecan and strawberry. The very friendly fellow that greeted us, rang up the order and thanked us for coming to the shop.It was a nice day and we went to the patio to enjoy the treats. The tables and chairs were nicely painted and spotless! The only downside is the ice cream was OK, but nothing special. I give an A+ to the young man that waited on us though.
Walrus Ice Cream - always delicious. Swiss Dark Chocolate in a chocolate waffle cone is the best.
Im sorry to do this to a local business, but this is easily the WORST ice cream Ive ever had! Its gummy and bland. The sea salt caramel flavor was bad. The price on this awful ice cream is insane. $6 for a single scoop which appears to be tiny.Cold Stone Creamery is right up the road and has far better ice cream for around the same price. Please dont waste your money here.
It was the place to be on a summer night! Upon arrival a very happening place thats perfect for families. Absolutely love the upgrades they have made for an outdoor patio with seating. Ice cream samples were offered and icecream was delicious. Great customer service throughout my visit to get some icecream.
The flavor and consistency of the ice cream here is a little odd. Its okay, but not as good as people hype it up to be.
I decided to grab some ice cream at Walrus tonight. Visiting from Charlotte NC on vacation, I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I visited another ice cream shop in the area last night, Old Town Churn, which was quite good. But I was not expecting the experience I had with Walrus I ordered a two scoop sundae (think they call it Saturdaes), and was blown away. I had a scoop of coconut and a scoop of a coffee flavor within almonds(sorry, i cant remember the name) with hot fudge and caramel. This was by far the best ice cream Ive ever had. Completely blown away!
Always fun and tasty. We masked up and biked down on the first warm weekend day to enjoy some great ice cream. Lots of delicious and interesting flavors - I enjoyed Lemon Ginger - and standards - Dark Chocolate. Theres almost always a line, yet it moves along reasonably fast. Recommend!
Absolutely my favorite place to go for ice cream!!! So glad that all of the big chains havint chased them away. They employ many of the college kids and offer an excellent product, while supporting local school artwork. Love this place! Ive been going here since college. (thats a long time)
Great service and had good conversation with guest! A classic place for icecream. Since I was in high school.
The local go-to, sample any flavor, ask the counter kids about their favorites. Take your bowl or cone and stroll the sidewalks of old town.
Their flavors tasted too sugary and artificial for my taste. The joke flavors are fun, though!
Great place to stop for a sweet treat. Gluten free cones and offerings are here as well and staff are trained on how to deal with gluten allergies.
Definitely worth the trip! Unique, delicious flavors, a must try!
This place seems dirty. No hand washing. Even after handling money. The staff is not attentive. I did not receive what I asked for, even though I clarified with the employee. It seemed weird that nobody wore gloves to handle the cones. Also, watching the employee dip my dairy ice cream into the peanut topping bowl, and then my wifes non dairy vegan sherbet into the same bowl, was really disgusting. She just threw away her whole cone. This places needs better structure for the employees to follow. Also the employee that helped us seem to be very stoned, but Im not sure of that, because sombody thats high should be good at making ice cream treats. This person, was not.
Lots of flavors and variety of treats if you dont feel like ice cream. They have cute gear too
We have been going to the Walrus for years, always great ice cream and staff.
My family loves this place after meals in Old Town. Any time we have out of town guests we always treat them to Walrus. Friendly and welcoming environment. Oh, the variety of flavors is top notch. Thanks all.
Awesome little ice cream shop. tons of flavors and great customer service! I would recommend coming here for some great ice cream and a amazing vibe.
Incredible ice cream! I cannot believe the quality, as well as texture and flavor of their ice cream. What a fantastic place with friendly and helpful customer service!
The ice cream is usually good, so when I ordered an ice cream cake, I was super disappointed. When I picked it up, the staff member was so incredibly unfriendly, didnt offer to let me see it before paying, and just genuinely didnt seem to want to be there. Im glad I brought a second person with me to pick it up because the container is WAY too big for the tiny cake you get. It was rattling around all over inside. For the cake itself, it tasted like nothing. It was supposed to be cappuccino flavored, which Id had before and thought it was delicious. In the cake, it was like they forgot to actually flavor it. The frosting and crust (very thin crust) were good, though. Just felt really expensive for what I got, and I was really bummed about the customer service at pick up when theyd always been so friendly before. Id mostly recommend their ice cream still, but their cakes just dont seem worth it.
Long line but worth it, great ice cream, friendly staff, great selection of flavors even sherbet and sorbet. They have 2 different gluten free cones available.
The best ice cream parlor I have ever been to there country peach pie ice cream is my absolute favorite flavor
Very nice. Very busy. Nice real people working there. Good customer service. Lots of families with children. Highly recommend.
I absolutely love walrus ice cream. They make the best shakes and they have a lot of unusual flavors but you cant get anywhere else. Its a nice little spot to take the kiddos to get ice cream or you and your girlfriend stop by but if youre in the mood for ice cream I definitely recommend this place it is absolutely awesome. I hope this review helps you decide to go here.
Always awesome! The only problem is deciding what to have...its all so good!
Great local place! Must visit if you’re in town! Great flavors and friendly employees !
Very friendly staff and tasty ice cream with plenty of flavors
The ice cream was good, but what stood out was the extremely rude girls working. I went in on 2/28 around 8:40 and I brought my dog with me. Their website says on Sundays they give out free puppy ice cream. I walked in; and no one said a word. I finally walked up and waited for them to take my order. The girl said hi and told me I wasnt supposed to have my dog with me. Im curious as to how they literally sell dog ice cream but dont allow dogs in. We werent going to stay, we were ordering to go. While I understand dogs may not have been allowed, they were still so rude. I ordered my ice cream as well and asked for it to go in a cup and she rolled her eyes at me. I asked for a bag to put everything in and she was also rude about that. Definitely dont recommend this place.
Walrus ice cream is a great place. The ice cream us amazing and the staff are courteous and fun.
Yikes, this place is FILTHY! I love to support local over places like Kilwins in the area but my goodness the ice cream has so many stabilizers its gummy.
Incredibly delicious! It was hard to choose the flavor I wanted. There also have sherbet and vegan choices as well. Many toppings, fruits, cotton candy, and candies to add. They also sell coffee and got chocolate. Yum! Air conditioning inside as well as patio. Play toys inside for kids. I do wish they had a recycle bin inside for you to throw away the plastic containers they serve your ice cream in. And or had more of a eco-friendly option instead of the Disposable spoons which were not biodegradable.
Like many other ice cream parlors there is a wide range and variety of flavors which is amazing. When I went there there was a long line the led to outside of the shop and more and more people were arriving so you could tell it serves some good icecream. I ordered white chocolate raspberry and it was delicious.
Delicious and unique flavors, a cozy atmosphere, and outstanding customer service. The manager is super kind, and I greatly appreciated Maddie being so sweet. We had a rough experience through Noco Nosh (not at all Walruss fault!), and our treats were replaced for free so we could try the ice cream as it was meant to be tasted! So, so delicious. Thank you so much!! Well definitely be back!
Yummy ice cream cake and beautiful flowers on enjoy ice cream outside on patio.
C/S was amazing. So nice.
Quality ice cream and an efficient friendly staff
Today I visit this place, and as they never treated me badly. I am Mexican, I live in Mexico and my English is not so perfect, I asked for my snow and the lady with a very bad face. then I asked him to stir my snow, and his fingers touched my snow, without gloves he took the money. When I paid, I asked her if she was angry and there she bothered me because a face in very bad taste, like discriminating and making fun of my pronunciation, as if I was laughing at her. Finally I asked him for my receipt and he no longer knew what to do. Another lady arrived and did not know how to give it to me. A visit in very bad taste, the good thing there is the snow 😥
Decided to get a ice cream cake for my husbands birthday. With COVID I wanted to support a local business rather than a chain. So glad I did, the cake was the best ice cream cake we’ve ever had, EVER. The cappuccino ice cream with caramel swirl and Oreo fudge crust are addicting, and I’m really picky being from Europe. Also, the employee on the phone was very nice and super helpful.
Great flavor selection but ice cream wasnt quite as creamy as youd think for a local place. But still a 4 star that you should support before franchise stores.
Delicious and our family loves the gluten free options, including cones. 🥰
Still a I remember.. a fabulous environment.
This is my favorite ice cream place EVER. The Chocolate Salted Caramel is my favorite, followed by the Salted Caramel. Must try!
Walrus NEVER disappoints!! Great, friendly staff and efficient. There was a line but it didnt feel like it because they were fast.
The best ice cream, been around for 30 years, I love walking down from my parents store and getting ice cream whenever we wanted
The place is dirty, the kids who work here are careless and gross. Purchased a large malt and they made a small.
The vegan chocolate ice cream was a great alternative for those that cant have dairy. Everyone was happy with the diverse options for ice cream, cones, and toppings. Never disappointed when going here.
Celebrated my birthday with a Ice Cream cone! Love their different flavors!
Great ice cream! Nice little ice cream shop with tons of options. Wanna try something? Get a sample, how ever many you want. I got their sweet potato ice cream. Sounds weird, but tasted just like a pumpkin spice ice cream. They even have gluten free options for cones. Get place, I would go again.😄
Delicious ice cream and good service even on busy days. There was a line to get in Saturday night but the wait was worth it 🍦
Walrus is a great local ice cream spot. Flavors rotate daily and they even have a weird joke flavor each day if you want to try something strange. A few of my favorites: smores, chocolate orange, chocolate strawberry, and the bourbon vanilla. if you like the ice creams you will the love the scry screams
It was very good. First time in fortt Collins.
Super yummy ice cream, with tons of flavors and other options. staff was nice :)
Such a cute little place. You walk in and are greeted with adorable little walruses EVERYWHERE! Our kiddos loved the raspberry sorbet and my husband loved the chocolate shake. We found the place by chance on our drive back home to Seattle, WA from Atlanta, GA. It was nice for the kids to be able to to stretch their legs and look at all the walrus artwork and play the jumbo Connect Four kiddie game. :)Id say definitely a must! :)
Best ice cream in Northern Colorado. No question
Love walrus, support your local ice cream shop!
First time here today. I had the watermelon ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone, it was very good and refreshing! My son had a mint chip shake and he loved it. The location is great and right in the middle of town. We grabbed it to go and walked around. Pictures of walruses throughout the shop, that was cute.
Staff was great, ice cream very tasty, drawback was double scope was smaller than a childs single and overpriced based on that amount.
Terrific Old Town location, quick service, great variety of ice cream and non dairy desserts, friendly staff, and the owner is often there working.Their vegan chocolate is excellent and their vegan vanilla is great on pies, especially for our lactose intolerant or dairy-free friends, and I love their various sorbets for a lighter, more refreshing treat, especially in warmer weather... though I seem to have kept it on hand year round lately....
Great selection of flavors and open late!
Delicious and lots of flavors.Great customer service 🐕🦺
Still not as good as Scrumptious in Longmont.
Great tasting triple berry sorbet
Always a great stop in Old Town Fort Collins. I love Walrus and grew up going here as a treat. Now that I have a daughter, I try to take her there as well.Their flavors are classic but interesting enough to keep you on your toes. I had the molasses sugar cookie and GOAT last time. Both were phenomenal with baking spice, sweet sugar, and texture.Their sizes allow for even the smallest child to get some without having to order too much.Try their joke flavor if you want to see something interesting.
I put their sticker on my iPad case - yes, it’s nerdy but we loved this place. Huge scoops, amazing flavors and so many to choose from. Great people watching venue as clientele is eclectic. But it can get really busy so don’t go if you’re in a rush. Interesting, informative, and funny (to read) decor. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’m a fan! Not us in the photo - but my daughter plans to copy this idea - haha.
Great customer service, nice variety of flavors, and the ice cream has a good taste to it. We usually end up going late at night because theyre open until 10pm 👍🏼
Great little ice cream shop.
The ice cream was simply amazing and the gal that helped us was polite and helpful.
