I know this place as Tom Thumb which is a well established restaurant and bakery. The Dairy Queen is merely attached to it. My review is for Tom Thumb the restaurant. Good food, reasonable prices, and good service. This place is a Fort Dodge area icon.

Your choice of good home style cooking (Tom Thumb), Dairy Queen, and full-menu drive-through. Hungry or feeding the crew? Items like fries, slaw, and cheese balls are available in measured quantities. Get there from the western highway 169 parallel road. For to-go, order everything from the north side menu sign. If youre only ordering DQ, they will tell to go to the second pickup window. Its usually okay to bypass the people in line for restaurant food. It occasionally gets funky but so does getting out and getting back to the highway. It works. Look out for the curb if you turn hard right out of the parking lot and then trust the signs or just figure it out yourself on the second try.

Many things are wrong with this place. Lets start off with the fact that whenever I try to order a strawberry cheesecake blizzard they always somehow outta cheesecake. How. Second I bought a small cake here. Was supposed to have layers of vanilla ice cream, fudge, the chocolate cookies or whatever and chocolate ice cream. Even says that on the damn label. Nothing but pure vanilla ice cream and frosting. Lowkey very disappointed. 😔😒

We had an awesome day today. There were plenty of laughs, drinks, and great times. Plenty of memories were made today. A family came together to celebrate the birthday of a patriarch. And then the sun set over DQ... WHAT A DAY?...

Waited way too long for nice cream. They are short staffed. Ice cream made me sick to my stomach.

Couldnt give negative stars or I would. Went thru drive thru and teen girl told me I couldnt have ice cream because I didnt order properly. I was told to drive back around and order again. I politely declined.... I will NEVER give this business my money again. Hope they go bankrupt

Good ice cream friendly service, very busy

Lazy, instead of making something that would take a little thought, they have everything for it, they will just tell you they don’t have it. Save yourself the time and headache and just go to the Dairiette or the snack shack, they have WAY better service AND ice cream.

Messes up my blizzard basically just handed me a cup of vanilla with strawberry syrup on top not mixed at all

Hey did you know they close at 9:45, they dont at all, its actually 11 but apparently the workers in their just decide when they feel like serving people. God ive never seen them hire anyone with double digit brain cells.

This Dairy Queen...yes, it has the sign & everything...they dont take (or sell) Dairy Queen gift cards. What???

The ice cream was good and fairly friendly service but the entire place was disgustingly filthy. Im sure if the health department walked in they would close them down for a major cleanup. Will not return until clean.

They do not use the traditional Dairy Queen ice cream. It was almost like they blended up store bought ice cream. Horrible, not worth the money.

Love their Ice Cream... Staff is very friendly. They are usually pretty busy year round so be ready for a little wait. But you will find it is worth the wait.

Food was good, but it took twenty minutes to get our food .and the order was incomplete.they fixed that part, just set the onion rings on the table and walked away...unacceptable. I wouldnt recommend this place if youre looking for food quickly.

Ice cream is great but the wait was long. I understand tho 2 girls working they needed help it was busy.

I get Blizzards a lot. Id like it if just once, the stir ins were actually mixed into the ice cream instead of just smooshed in the bottom of the cup and covered in plain, vanilla ice cream.

Worst DQ that I have ever been to. Twice I have gotten blizzards here and they have very little in them. This last on I got the Royal Cheescake. . . . Very little cheescake in it and half way through there were no strawberries! Very disappointed!

I was supposed to be getting a cookie dow blizzard and it was white and fluffy and tasted like a cup of whip cream. One of the worst decisions of my life. I gave it 1 star. It deserves no stars. Bad service. Bad ice cream.

This was one of the worst places Ive been in a while.The booths were TINY. Im a larger guy, I know that, but I couldnt technically fit in the booths. Every other booth/table was full. The lines were long, the prices were high, the quantity was relatively low, the wait for the food was long.Just dont bother in my opinion.

They got the orders wrong and they never turned the blizzards over. Needless to say they were melting before we left the parking lot. We will think twice before spending $35 before going to this diary queen again.
