I went in for a straight forward ear mold for my aviation headset. Quick service and nice conversation with the staff. Less than 15 minutes later I was having the mold completed by Dr. Roach who made the process seamless considering this was my first mold I’ve ever completed. I would definitely recommend this location and will be returning here if need be.

Slightly more than one year ago, I suffered an attack of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL). As a result, at age 52, I found myself, without warning, suddenly profoundly deaf in my left ear. Despite doctors’ best surgical efforts, they were unable to restore my hearing, and finally recommended that I consult an audiologist to determine if hearing aids could possibly help.As luck would have it, Ascent Audiology of Fort Lauderdale was located near my home. I apprehensively made an appointment with Dr. Roach. At my first appointment, I was anxious and depressed about my new impairment. Dr. Roach introduced himself, and then patiently took time to fully examine my ears and to test my hearing loss. Because of the nature of the nerve damage causing my impairment, Dr. Roach was concerned about whether devices could be properly fitted without increasing the distortion and tinnitus that my defective ear was producing. Dr. Roach was honest and forthright about these concerns, while at the same time optimistic that he could improve my hearing.After taking measurements, Dr. Roach noted that each manufacturer’s devices may sound slightly different. He offered recommendations based upon his experience as to the devices that he thought would possibly work best for my impairment and my lifestyle. Dr. Roach then went the extra step of arranging several trials of different brands of devices, in order for me to better understand what each device offered, and which devices sounded best to my damaged ear. By the time I finally settled upon the “best” set of devices for me, I had full confidence that I was making the right choice. This was very important to me, because top-of-the-line hearing aids can be a costly proposition. Which also reminds me that Dr. Roach worked diligently with my insurance company, fully documenting my available coverage and then designing a treatment plan that ensured I would get maximum care and benefits with the least possible amount of out-of-pocket costs.I must also mention that during the last year, whenever I’ve had any questions or concerns about my devices, Dr. Roach has been amazingly responsive. He always promptly returns my calls and follows up to ensure the least possible amount of down-time.I know that there may be cheaper audiology services offered by big-box retailers and on-line discounters. But as a musician, audio engineer (and Dad who loves to hear his daughter sing), my ears deserve the best possible care… and that care comes from Ascent Audiology and Dr. Roach. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr Roach and Ascent Audiology & Hearing.I feel compelled to write this review to help others in choosing where to go for help with their hearing.Dr Roach is capable, knowledgeable, kind, and thorough. The staff is warm, welcoming and conscientiousI lost my hearing aid this summer, which I purchased from another local audiologist. I returned to the original doctors office to discuss my insurance plan. I was told the replacement would cost $750. I needed my hearing aid but simply couldn’t afford It.I subsequently went on a quest for another I went everywhere I could to price a replacement.Luckily I wondered into the Ascent office where I told Dr Roach my story.Dr Roach informed me that the cost of that particular replacement, with the insurance policy, would be no more than $200.Incredulously I returned to my initial doctor who again ensured me the replacement price was a non negotiable $750.I gave Dr Roach the serial number and within days of dogged pursuit, he got me my replacement hearing aid. Dr Roach retested me and fitted me with no extra cost.I saved $550!!!My new hearing aid is perfect. I am so grateful to have found such an angel of a man.

We were from out of town and my wives Hearing aid needed repair and When we called Ascent they saw us immediately and fixed the problem. It was great customer service.

I took my Mom,who just turned 97 and has had difficulty discerning words for quite a few years. She had hearing aids but they really werent of much help, to the point where I tried all types of voice text devices but they all made conversation laborious. We then had the good fortune to visit Dr Roach and everything changed. He is one of the most kind and gentle hearing Drs we visited . We really needed someone who would take their time as she had such a hard time hearing what he was saying. he did a test that confirmed the specifics of her loss and picked a set of aids that were not the most expensive but the ones that would do the job at the least cost . His consideration in that regard was much appreciated .The new aids were a vast improvement and he actually visited her at her residence several times to be sure she understood completely how to use and care for them. I live on the other side of the country so to have someone take care of her in that way was a blessing.She also got a device that is an external microphone that connect via Bluetooth directly to her hearing aids. It is great when she is in a crowd of people at a table as it clearly can pick up what each is saying. It can be worn around her neck to to help pick up soft spoken people.All in all, Im very glad we visited his office. It has made the last year so much fuller for her. Had an issue with my hearing aids and got my left one fixed for a fee but later realized that my right one was not working either.These days when money is tight, was trying to figure out an inexpensive way to fix the other one but with Oticon nothing is inexpensive.Was ready to tough it out with only one hearing aid but Dr. Roach a few days later found me a donated hearing aid that he reprogrammed.I offered to pay him for his time and effort and he refused.That’s Old-School considerate and one should be very appreciative of people like that.

I initially saw Dr. Roach due to a concern about my hearing. The front desk service was prompt and professional. I was quickly escorted to an exam room and Dr. Roach came right in. He was personable and professional. He performed a complete history and proceeded to run a battery of tests. He suggested that my issue may require medical or surgical intervention and referred me to an ENT instead of trying to sell me hearing aids (this speaks to his ethical and moral veracity). He has followed up with several phone calls over the last four months to check on my aural health. If you need an audiologist, I highly recommend Dr. Roach. Okay, so hear me out... I have never had any issues with my hearing, but a wise man once told me that everyone should get a baseline hearing test. Hearing has never been all that great in my family, especially later in life, and being that this location was so close to me, I decided to stop by Ascent and check it out. The good doctor was extremely knowledgeable, as well as patient with any and all questions that I had. While my visit did not require any further testing or result in needing any type of devices, I am very confident that the expertise exhibited was not only for me, but also for any individual that walks in that front door. I have been hearing aid user for over 40 years I lost my hearing at a very young age. Finding hearing aids to meet my loss was a challenge. Dr.Roach is a excellent audiologist he is the 3rd audiologist I have seen in the past year and i couldnt be happier with his service I definitely have found my doctor going forward with anything concerning my hearing .

As a concert photographer, I first found Dr. Roach as I have been looking for a source for custom earplugs to protect my hearing against very loud music. Before getting started, the doctor recommended that we do a hearing test to get a base line of my hearing so we could address any issues in the future.He took probably 30-40 minutes to address any of my questions, explain various elements about hearing and custom fit my earplugs, allowing me to pick the color for the final product as well. If you need earplugs - definitely go to Ascent Audiology.My second interaction was just as positive. After flying home the night before and experiencing some discomfort, I couldnt get my ear to normalize to the pressure, so I went to see Dr. Roach. Again, he did a number of tests, spending 20 minutes with me and helped assure me that everything was fine and may just be the cold I was developing and should go back to normal again soon.Besides that, the office is clean and bright, the staff are friendly and they even have these little ginger snap cookies that are delicious and find myself grabbing a few when I go in to the office.Ive never been to another audiologist but pricing seemed quite reasonable and fair.
