I prefer local paint supply store instead of big box brands. Lot of real paint trade knowledge and expertise available on my diy projects. Also a great resource for references for high quality paint contractors on larger scale more complex painting needs.

A few days back I quoted a job to paint in a subdivision that has a home owners association. This is my second year as an independent contractor, and I have one employee. The H.O.A. Supplied a paint code and suggested Benjamin Moore.My employee is an honest hard worker, so for the first time I entrusted my company card and the job of picking up the paint. I’ve lived in Ft Walton all my life, but had never been to this store, but I do understand the importance of quality paint. I shop at Sherwin Williams often, so in my quote I allowed between 4 and 5 hundred for 3 five gallon buckets.The Employees at Benjamin Moore convinced my guy that they were saving him money by using a paint of good quality, but not the same as the HOA had suggested. The cost?($700.00!) I immediately called the store to contest what had just happened, only to hear, sorry sir, it’s already been mixed.Their are a certain kind of people in this world, this work environment. These certain people are not the kind that try to help someone, when they know there’s been an honest mistake. But instead help to nudge, or even facilitate a situation that is advantageous for their business, without concern for an obviously inexperienced employee, who is depending on the experience of these men to help him make a right decision. Not to lay in wait to capitalize on another local business as soon as they see opportunities to do so. I myself might may not be the best business minded individual,But I would rather take a loss, than to gain almost purposely on someone else’s loss.

I was turned on to Hollywood paint by a friend and havent shopped anywhere else for paint since! I would consider myself a diy type client, so no professional background at all whatsoever... the employees take the time, everytime to ask me questions about my projects in order to get me the exact product I need to avoid buying uneccessary items, they provide a higher level of service, which is very difficult to find these days. Highly recommend!
