First time here and I am impressed. This place has THAT feeling. Its unexplainable. The creaks of the floors, everything and anything, everywhere. Walls filled with all sorts of cameras and equipment, the smell of old stuff and new stuff mixed together. It just gives you the sense of belonging. The only similar feeling I get is when I go to an old diner and/or army surplus store. Guys were helpful and knowledgeable and the stuff didnt seem that expensive. Dont forget that these people are trying to stay in business and have families as well. So paying 3-4-5 dollars more on some stuff doesnt even matter. This is the type of store our grandfathers would visit when they were growing up. I love it.
Where else can you go anymore that can give you the straight poop on photography than Sunny Schick? Ive been shopping here for almost 35 years, back in the film days. They even helped me transition, reluctantly, to digital. Its a small business so if you stop by when they are busy you might have to wait a minute or two but the knowledge base here and prices are worth the wait.
Great place to get your camera gear. Knowledgeable staff and friendly service. Local photographers will miss you dearly.
I stopped in there with the intent of spending up to $1500 for a new camera. When I entered there were two clerks - one on the phone, the other with a customer. After waiting several minutes - without even an acknowledgement, the customer purchased something and left. The phone rang and the now free clerk went straight to the phone - again,no ackowledgement from either. I waited another couple of moments and left. This is similar to the only other time I stopped in there several years ago. I decided to stop this morning to see if my impression was correct - it was. Wont be back for a third stike. :(
Helpful, informative, knowledgeable, and friendly. Well stocked. Exactly what I look for in a camera shop.
Good old fasioned camera shop, where you can buy new Canicon gear. A great selection of accessories, Frendly staff. And always a great selection of vintage gear at great prices. I love my Yahsica-Mat and Minolta 9000, also got a few used FD and M42 lenes at reasonable prices.
