I walked in and was greeted right away!! I forgot to get the names of the girl and guy working in there but they were great!!! She showed me the layout of the store. It is very well laid out by yarn weight. They had a great selection of hand dyed yarns, including their own, which is beautiful!! I bought a few skeins and an adorable progress keeper that looks like a Boba tea!!! They caked up some of the Yarn for me and gave me a card so I can order more. Next time Im in the area Ill be back!!

This Mom and Pop store is a source of many kinds of yarn, the kinds not generally available at places like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or JoAnns. There are also just fibers, with different types of spindles to make yarn, and spindles to roll yarn into cakes or balls. There is a welcoming conversation area with comfortable chairs and a couch, for those who want to sit and knit. There is a clean bathroom with fragrant soap. There is a back room with a large table, suitable for a class. The owners, and even the customers, are friendly and knowledgeable, and not at all hoity-toity, despite their beautiful wares. The store is artistically decorated and such a sensory joy to look at and experience.

During the pandemic, Ive really been trying to support local yarn stores. However, I found that the ones in Dallas 1) dont have functional websites, 2) have barely functional websites that make it hard to navigate their selection online, 3) have a very limited selection with only one or two skeins/hanks per thing, 4) arent open and dont offer curbside, or 5) a combination of all those factors.West 7th wool has a fantastic website. Its very well designed and very easy to use, even on a mobile phone. They also have a very large selection of yarn. The pictures are well done, so it was really easy for me to tell the true color of the yarn from the website. The descriptions of the yarn are really nice. And overall it was incredibly easy to find exactly what I was looking for, and a compare things that I was considering.Their website is ultimately what made the difference between me choosing to shop at the two stores here in Dallas, or drive an hour to pick up yarn at West 7th wool in fort Worth. The curbside pickup experience was seamless, and my yarn was nicely packaged and ready to go. Because of covid I didnt go into the shop (I think the showroom is closed anyway) but I could tell that it was very nicely organized. Two thumbs up. Great job adapting to the pandemic! And thanks for the awesome yarn.

Coronavirus, not fun, but perfect time to knit. I needed blue DK weight yarn. I felt so bad for them, because I know I was putting all the pressure on them. But literally gave me what I needed and brought my purchase to my truck. If I needed to see the yarn, I could have made an appointment. And, when I had a Chiaogoo question it was completely answered with no pressure to buy. When you do go in, yarn is organized by weight/size, then color. Easy to go straight for what you need. And, they have yarns dyed locally. Theyve always been great to me at this store 🥰

I wanted to take advantage of our extra time at home during COVID, attempting to learn crochet. I reached out to West 7th Wool to see if they would help me learn. Amy was so gracious and willing to try Zoom meetings! We did a couple lessons with a pattern I was trying to complete. Without Amy’s help I would be lost. So grateful, she was a tremendous help! I finally completed my project thanks to her 🥰Thank you so much!

Amy and Hunter both knit and can help with just about any question. There are classes to learn to knit, crochet, weave and spin. They try to stock a lot of local Texan indie dyers and some that have their own sheep, goats, llamas, and Alpacas and do all the phases of yarn production. Everyone in the shop knits or crochets. You can go there and just work on your latest W.I.P. Love the place.

Started knitting recently and stopped by here to grab some yarn for a project I had that none of the craft stores (Michaels, joanns, hobby lobby) had the right yarn weight for. This store is a godsend, and all of the employees were a delight and very helpful. They suggested the group knitting on Thursdays, and thought why not give it a shot. Easily 20 ladies there and had a WONDERFUL time.

Ill put my 5-star review in with the others...stopped by yesterday to check it out and was given a tour immediately. Being a crocheter, I was so pleased to see half of the projects displayed are crocheted! Usually there is a dominance of knitted items in a store like this. I do LOVE knitting, but like to see my own craft given a place, and not relegated to the backseat. So, thank you for that! ;-))) I mainly came to check out the shop, being new to the area, and bought a shawl pin, hat buttons, and some delicate wash. I felt so welcome in this store and will most definitely be back with patterns in hand for yarn purchases next visit! ~Heidi

Well, I really wanted to give a five star review and am saddened that I just can not. Id been wanting to visit this shop for sometime now and finally got the chance too. The shop is cute, comfortable and stocked with lovely luxury end yarns and fibers. The prices were reasonable. What it is missing is warmth. The lady was friendly enough, but the gentleman working there acted annoyed by our presence and wasnt friendly at all. He seemed even more irritated that he had to stop doing inventory to check out my purchase and wasnt happy about having to wind our yarn at all. Gee, I spent almost $300 and youd think hed want a return customer.Ill admit we had a toddler that is on the wild side. But he want touching the yarn and Ive seen a lot worse. The lady was nice and brought him some toys to play with, but the same guy obviously doesnt like children.Sorry...people that knit and crochet have kids. They are not all little old ladies. I was used to the warmth and friendliness I used to receive at Jennings Street Yarns. No friendly greeting, no one asked us if we needed assistance, no friendly banter, nada. I was hoping for a new friendly place that I could go to for classes or sit and stitch.. Its not here. Sad, so sad. I wont be back. I can find all the luxury yarns on line. I was looking more for a friendly brick and mortar shop to call home. Sadly this isnt it.

Store is in a great location, very large assortment, really nice place. They have a large assortment to choose and are quite focused on keeping the floor stocked, & having a very tidy, very cute store.Regarding the assistance... The review by Ellycia Knauber, that was discredited, is very much on point. I watched as my repeat buyer wife was handed the same experience - little assistance. And we found out that we are not worth a long 15-minute investment of the owners time to wind the purchased yarn at closing time, to keep us from having to make another 30-minute drive the next day to pick up our order. Unfortunately, we also had to leave without purchasing - totally not our desire.Edited: My hope, just as I called, is that you will learn the high value of customer acquisition and retention, and closing time, as you have a very fine store and many nice reviews, Hunter. 15 minutes spent with a repeat customer is, just as you say, invaluable. My wife and I both have a background in retail management of a large retailer & also as a buyer, domestically & internationally. I would absolutely write up my employee for failing to stay 10-15 minutes to ring up someone who was 5 minutes after close. Especially if I found out they called ahead.

I have to say, there is a reason we should all write reviews in these days of Google. I read it, and as we traveled to Dallas/Fort Worth area, picked this particular store based on reviews - and it didnt disappoint! It is all the good stuff mentioned, and more. I liked the history behind the opening, the collection of the yarn was one of the best I had seen (I travel at least 6 times a year, and its my thing to go to yarn stores in every new place, and Ive been knitting for over 25 years), the organization, the friendly (but not over-the-top) approach, the set up - it was all A++. I would suggest, if I may, to put printed labels at the cabi tops with the basic yarn description (like: 100% cotton, 100 g, 375 yards) for easier navigation (especially for aging eyes:)). Other than that - thank you! Highly recommend!

I went here once, and now I think I’ll wind up here (pun intended) at least once a week. ;)I’m a beginner knitter and have found that I’m obsessed with beautiful yarns. West 7th Wool has all the yarn eye-candy I could ask for, so much variety, and high quality, luxury options. I’m also impressed by their selection of local indie dyers. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gentlemen (one of the owners?) who told me how their selections were organized according to weight, and where the local brands/dyers were stashed. Oh, and he helped me hold the door open upon entering as I had my little wild-child son in a stroller. (Let me tell ya, the door/stroller struggle is real).I picked up some MadiTosh and Yarn Carnival goodies! Still deciding what to make with them.A woman was in the lounge area knitting and she engaged me in conversation about knitting and asked about my son.Turns out she’s doing a class there for knitting a shirt next month, and told me I should take it. I just might!I felt so welcomed there. Now I see how tight-knit the community is here (there go my puns again...) and I feel all the more inspired to advance in my newfound passion for knitting.VERY pleased with my visit, and excited to have a local yarn shop this good.

This place cares about the details. This is the absolute best yarn shop in DFW and even better than most stores Ive visited around the United States (which is quite a bit). It means a lot to me when shops go the extra mile with their customer service and this place does just that. Ive noticed that in most yarn shops it is rare to see a smiling/welcoming face fron the people who work there but I ALWAYS feel soo welcomed and comfortable when I come here. I live much closer to shops in Dallas but it is worth it to drive here instead! I hope this shop stays around forever because I LOVE IT. Thanks for your awesome shop and being such sweet people.
