He opened a store. this store would be located in the desert and would sell food and provisions. He said this was way safer. His partners called it Way Safer, because of what he said. Over time the title evolved to Safeway. These pioneers that paved success for the western expansion of the United States started this store.Thank you ole cowboys of the past for building this great Safeway. (This story might be true.)

My experience today and in the past has always been refreshing. The young staff are very helpful and courteous. When they overheard us trying to find a commodity, they were there to help find what we were looking for. They all seem to know where everything is in the store. Everyone was courteous, helpful and friendly. God bless the workers at the Safeway on the Mesa.

I love shopping at Safeway, it is conveniently located near my home and there products are always fresh.

I had to wait in line just to use self checkout. Only 2 lines open for cashier checkout and lines were halfway up the shopping aisle. Of course no carts in the store. I think customers should get a discount for having to check out their own groceries. Probably will not be back

Good quality meats! Has a StarBucks and US BANK inside. As far as regular food shopping high prices the same items other stores offer cost more here. But the really cool part about tonights visit I got to do my laundry there.... LOL I washed my mask in the sink but they did have a air dryer and soap.

We visited the deli today to get some salami. We were next in line. After the deli clerk helped the person in front of us she ignored us, then helped another person, then walked away and did nothing, and then came and talked to us. We asked about salami and she then proceeded to ask us what kind. There was only one in the display case so we said the only one you have. She then got snippy with us and said they have more in the back. How are we supposed to know that. She didnt ask how we wanted it cut and was just really rude. Not a happy experience.

Store is too small for the amount of people shopping inside. Maybe buy the space next to ya and expand a little.

The Safeway on Mesa Ridge in Fountain is my favorite in El-Paso county in the Colorado Springs area. Its always clean and well stocked. Great customer service.

My review is for the pharmacy. I came in today in misery and the pharmacist told me what to use to eliminate my symptoms. Im already feeling better. With 2 little ones I cant afford to be sick nor do I have the time to. Thank you to the pharmacist!

Always slow when getting my order. Always have to get a manager to fix my order. Employees talking with friends outside inside picking up foodMy family orders online and never received my shakes, we get sorry were closed.We will never go here again.

Good selection of meats at a good price. If you dont have a Safeway card its probably not worth it to shop here due to the discounts you get if you use one. Getting a Safeway card is free so theres no reason to not have one!

I love this neighborhood safeway. The staff are always so kind and helpful. I enjoy grabbing a Starbucks and getting my shopping done. A good selection on all the food essentials.

If I ever feel like the service & planning at Walmart are bad, I go to this Safeway.Edit: I will not. I want public answers as to why the store is undermanned, the deli inventory is consistently short, and theres limited customer engagement. Its gotten worse over the last three years

Went to deli for sliced cold cuts, the DELI employee stated she could not cut ham or pork products because highly allergic. Why is she assigned to work deli?? She said to get precut deli ham, which who knows when cut during the day, did take a look over there but there wasnt any. Also had no gouda cheese. Worst deli ever.** Didnt overhear, told directly by deli employee, Im highly allergic, not cutting any ham or pork products.

I understand that Fountain is a busy area, a lot of people live here and this is the only grocery store that is conveniently located in Fountain. BUT I mean come on. Every time I go in there no matter what time of day it’s as though products are not available and the shelves have been cleaned out. The associates in different departments are usually very nice, very friendly except for the front end. Are there no customer service standards for the front end?! It doesn’t matter if I go to the self checkout or to a cashier. I usually go to self checkout and there have been times where I buy beer and maybe a few small items and the attendant will watch me walk up with the beer and WALK AWAY and go to the service desk so I have to chase them down or stand there and wait for them to verify my age so I can finish the transaction. But yesterday absolutely took the cake. I went to a cashier for my checkout. The associate barely even spoke to us. My order came out to $137. He watched me count the cash and I handed it to him and said “I have $134 in cash, can we put the rest on my card?” He ended up putting into the system $94 in cash and charged my card $43. And the worse part is he looked really confused when he put the money in the drawer. I’m sure he realized he made a mistake but didn’t even say a word about it. I should have been paying attention too but unfortunately I was not. So we had to go back to him and request the $40 he overcharged us and he did without a hassle. But I mean come on! If you make a mistake OWN UP TO IT. Don’t play with people’s money. I’ve received better service at Walmart than here, might be worth the extra drive just to go there instead of coming here.

My father-in-law and his wife are older with mobility issues. They wanted me to write this review for them.Dear Safeway,Thank you for helping us every time we come into your store. Not only does someone always help to get us a scooter from inside and ride it out to us, this week, someone helped us by collecting items that were too far inside the store. Each time they returned, they asked us what other groceries we needed, and we gave them our list. When we finished filling our basket, that employee helped us check out and even stayed with us until we got to the car. They loaded the car with our groceries and rode the scooter back to the store. You dont realize how much this means to us. Thank you!Robert and Virginia Wilson

Unfortunately we have to lower our standards in Fountain Colorado for grocery stores. This is the only Safeway that does not open Self Checkout at store opening hours. Management is obviously blind to this simple aspect of customers checking out with 1 item having to wait behind customers with a full cart in the morning hours. Do you not trust customers checking out 1 donut at self checkout? You would rather waste their time having to stand in line. Im sure Walmart would happy to assist in your self checkout failures. Hand baskets- Why are they not restocked at the entrances? If customer service is your Priority then make this easier for customers to get in and out of the store in a timely manner to escape the utter disgrace of the parking lot cluster.

What is the deal with the parking lot and size of cracks in it? Will they ever repair it? Maybe after their managements cars are affected by it. At least the store is kept clean.

We went into the Safeway for Starbucks. Great place in the Mesa Ridge. Luv it. Store was pretty busy.

The lady at the deli section, she was just chatting with her co-worker the whole time when I was waiting there trying to get her attention for over 5 min. Horrible service.

The staff and clerks were very helpful and polite. The shelves were out of many of the sale items. The produce and floral department were well organized and in order. Cashiers were quick and friendly.

I only go here if I really, really have to. I feel like their quality of food choices is low quality and over priced. It feels like they are always understaffed for some reason. Getting in and out of the parking complex is kinda frustrating also.

Clean, well stocked for a off post military store

This Safeway was fully stocked, very colorful, and their produce section was varied and beautiful. They had many displays and common items set out for display for Thanksgiving. It made finding the things I was looking for much easier. I grabbed some fresh herbs, which is fantastic because I didnt want to use dried. They have a great selection of cheese and butter and most things were on sale.

Their ATM swallowed my card. They were less than helpful. Basically telling me it isnt their problem I need to call my bank and cancel my card and order a new one. I understand they dont have access or control over those machines, but to be talked to like that by not only one employee but two, well... didnt even try to find a number I can call for the ATM and wouldnt. Just repeated I need to cancel my card and get a new one and thats that. Terrible experience and Ive been shopping with you guys since I moved here. Well not anymore.

Great shopping center for grocery and other items, has a full pharmacy, alcohol, and delicious, and Starbucks, and assortment of novelty/health items.

Walked in before 6am, because the doors were open and the hours list 5am as the open time, was told very rudely by a certain employee that theyre not open and he accused me of pushing open the doors. Bad way to start off the morning.

A little pricey. Excellent service. WIC friendly (for most items). Limited but good selection for one stop shopping. Unfortunately still requiring masks.

Clean, good deli, self checkout.

Some times this place is good for a quick in and out, but other times seems like they are under staffed at the regular cash registers. Lines could be down the grocery lanes, and still no extra registers opening up ugggggggg. So just watch your timing I guess.

Store is just too small dont have too much of variety in store products and prices are kind of high I was told to shop at kings super prices are cheaper over there and have more variety for what Im shopping for..Im new to Colorado so I guess I need to do some shopping around to b satisfied for what Im looking for

I do not recommend buying anything from the produce section. Bought a bag of apples and every single one of them looks fine on the outside but when you bite into them half of it is brown and rotten. Most likely because they have bounced around all over the floor and got bruised. Also, I saw some kid working there throw a bunch of cucumbers on the shelf. About half of them fell out on the floor he just kicked them around and then picked them up and threw them back in there without even hosing them down or anything. Absolutely filthy.

Very expensive store, expect to pay $2 or $3 dollars more than Wal-Mart for less product. Always out of stock and totally packed because of the proximity to 10,000 houses and Fort Carson. Pretty sure this place pays to keep any other grocery stores from starting up so they can keep the racket they have established going. Go the extra 5 or 6 miles to Wal-Mart, youll get more and pay less.

On Safeways website, Google, and on Facebook the hours are listed as opening at 5 am. Thats wrong. The store in person has the hours listed as opening at 6am. They need to get this corrected as its inconveniencing customers showing up before 6 am only to find it closed.

Im glad they only have one entrance open. We all know having two sides open gives you covid. SMH. The employees are very polite and the store is clean. So really its a good place to grab needed items. Only having one entry and and exit on such a bust store makes absolutely no sense though.

Several areas of the store are stocked improperly. One item stocked in multiple incorrect locations to enhance the appearance but selling items are out if stock- because they sold. Cant sell if it isnt on the shelf. The store crew is terrific, though and I appreciate their hard work. I was in retail management for 45 years and understand the problems they face. Also, almost every employee is helpful and courteous.

Consistently terrible curbside & delivery service. Lots of times it appears they just get lazy and mark half my order out of stock and Ill have to go in (vital ingredients) and find multiple items fully stocked. Its less inconvenient to drive further to a different store.

I was there to pick up coffee creamer, I didnt see the kind I usually get and wasnt sure if they even carried it. The guy that stocks the dairy noticed I was looking for something specific and he approached me to see if I needed any thing, he went in the back and got me what I wanted.... it may not seem like much but the guy went out of his way to help me out and that was awesome, wish I caught his name but great dude

I normally have wonderful experiences at this store, but when you have only one checkout open backed up with several carts, and self checks open, and my order is large and the person running them says I would be better off in regular checkout, then please open more checkouts.

Overall nice store, seems clean and maintained. Employees are more busy with talking among themselves than helping customers. Everytime I go in, I have to bag own stuff or wait until cashier bags with many other customers behind me, while 2-5 employess are six feet away hanging out, on thier cell phones, or literally just standing there.

I get work from my home health nursing job. My last patients we near the Air force base. I race to get to Safeway cause the hours say western union closes at 8pm. I get there at 7:50pm they are already closed. They closed at 7:45pm. What is the of putting 8pm to lie about it. why dont they put 7:45 pm on the website. dont make any sense!

A greAt place to get your Flu Shots. Not much wait, and if a returning customer, all of your insurance information is in their computer. Safe masks on all employees. I felt comfortable and at ease. Next.🤔😎

Why dont you have people who bag groceries anymore?? IM 5 months PREGNANT and you think someone would have helped me bag my groceries, also I do not think its fair the cashier has to bag all those groceries by themselves AlSO when I asked the sushi makers nicely to make me a spring roll or a crunchy roll without meat, they just shot me down and said they dont do that. I even told them Im PREGNANT and cant eat raw fish and they still wouldnt just make me one. WHOLE FOODS can do it, why cant SAFEWAY!? Im about to just drive all the way across town and start shopping there instead. PREGNANT WOMEN already feel so isolated, we cannot do allot, also I feel bad for the vegans here. They do not have allot of options....

I would like to talk about the extraordinary service I received today during my trip to SafeWay. I was hoping to place an order for a Ham for my thanksgiving dinner but I was informed by Cynthia who worked in the hot food department that they are no longer taking orders as the cut off date has passed. I thanked her for her time and was expecting the interaction to end there. However, Cynthia went out of her way by explaining that it is a simple entree to make at home and she could show me where to get the ingredients. Cynthia walked me to the meat section and helped me chose a ham. Then she walked me to the proper isle where I could find canned pineapples, cherries, and toothpicks. I have never dealt with an employee as involved and caring as her. She made my day and I would like to thank her again. I feel confident now that I can make the Ham on my own for my family. It was so moving to receive such amazing service during these times. Experiences like this is why I shop at smaller supermarkets such as Safeway rather than larger retail companies like Walmart. Thank you again Cynthia!

Have had horrible customer service the last three times I’ve gone into this store, today was the last straw. The cashier was rude and was throwing my items around as he checked and bagged. The prices in this store are outrageous for the subpar customer service you receive.

Needs an update on pharmacy hours and operations for lab draws. Google still shows Quest has a draw site there and we were informed by the pharmacy that its been gone for over a year.

They have a really great produce selection for lovers of a variety of fruits and vegetables! Lots of healthy selections, kombucha, low sodium options, gluten free items, and lots other ethnic foods. Ive been shopping here for years. The employees are kind and professional too. This is my favorite grocery store in the area.

Ordered a fruit tray to be delivered for the Super Bowl. Gave more than 24 hours notice as required - even received a confirmation. Got another confirmation the morning of. Delivery window comes and goes so I call the delivery customer service number. They had no updates but would call the store and call me back with an update. Never received the follow up call. So, I call the store myself to try to get a status... a really rude employee informs me we have nothing to do with online orders to which I replied to her that the store has my money for an item that I have not received NOR have I had the courtesy of receiving any updates for. She transfers me to a girl who tells me that they didnt have the fruit tray this morning and thats why I didnt get it but shell check to see if they have it now and would I like to come pick it up (ummm NO, thats why it was a DELIVERY order). Before I could say another word - either we got disconnected or she hung up. Why would they not call to tel me this so I could come up with an alternative at some point??? So, I have to call AGAIN. Finally, the last girI I spoke with got back on the phone and was speaking so fast you needed a translator. She says it will be delivered by 2:30 (the window was 9 am - 11:00 am) which doesnt work for us because no one was going to be home in the afternoon. No apology, no offer to refund my delivery fee - nothing. The store SHOULD have called me the morning they realized they didnt have the item to fulfill the order. (seriously, this was a catering item from the deli - not a jar of jelly). If we hadnt called in ourselves and spent an additional HOUR on the phone - I doubt we would have received it which is bad enough HOWEVER the worst part is the lack of communication. This happened with a BIRTHDAY CAKE we ordered last year. We will not be ordering again - this store does not have their ordering/delivery system down by a long shot...... and terrible customer service to boot. Shopping somewhere else from this point on and definitely cant depend on this store for special occasions....

Hours of operations are incorrect on Google, the store actually close at 11 pm and the manager was very rude as I was trying to apologize and explain online it was listed closing hours as 12 and not 11

Rude employees, ignoring me when asking for product, several times. This was not one isolated time but by multiple employees. Poor stock, poor customer service, dirty in front of the meat counter, raw shrimp on the floor. The manager should be ashamed of how his employees treat the consumer. Utter lack of customer satisfaction!!!!
