I’ve been a patient at this office for several years and have seen Dr. Ethan Ly, O.D. for most of them. Dr. Ly is an excellent doctor. He gives comprehensive eye exams and remembers details from previous visits without needing to refer to his notes. He is patient, kind, and takes time to educate his patients. My son had an appointment the next week with Dr. Ly. After conducting the eye exam three times just to confirm, Dr. Ly determined that my son no longer needed glasses or contacts. He didn’t even charge us for anything other than the retina photography. We certainly appreciated that kindness since we were paying out of pocket. Since the office is located in the Cool Springs Mall adjacent to Lens Crafters, they have very convenient hours. (We didn’t purchase my glasses from Lens Crafters ... too expensive! See my reviews for Costco and Warby Parker) I highly recommend Dr. Ly!

Same as another customer...was 10 min late (traffic), was advised to return an hour later only to then be told they were fully booked. Office staff is never the same and nobody knows anything about anything. I know customer service is a thing of the past but thus office never seemed to have any to begin with...wont return

After I booked an appointment, they called me 3 times over the weekend within a 24hr span trying to confirm the appointment. I don’t want to be harassed over the weekend. When I came in for my appointment I was 10 min late (due to holiday traffic and no parking), they said I would now be treated as a walk-in and would have to wait an hour to be seen. I get having to wait a few extra minutes but to be put in the back of the line for being a couple minutes late is a little ridiculous, especially since I’ve been coming here for 6+ years. I think I’ll go find someone that’s a little more accommodating moving forward.

They are all very polite and thorough. My doctor is fantastic and very understanding. He introduced me to contacts. Im loving them! Their prices beat every place I checked including online.Today I thought I put my contact lens in inside out and I couldnt get it out. So I drove to the office. The wait was only a couple of minutes. He got it out instantly with no added discomfort. He gave me recommendations for over the counter eye drops for minor irritation.Im glad I found this office. A place I trust.

The staff at H.M. Calvert M.D. & Associates are quite accommodating, very polite and well-trained. The technicians explain each step of the exam throughout and generally make you feel comfortable and informed until the end of the process. But, to me, the shining star of this whole outfit has to be Dr. Lee. Upon the review of my exam results, he was immediately available with information about how my drastically changing prescription relates to my management of type 2 diabetes, something I had never thought of and had not known until my visit to his office. He assured me that over time with the help of my regular physician and closer monitoring of my glucose levels to control my diabetes that my vision would surely benefit and theres no need to worry. Dr. Lee has a level of confidence that can only come from experience and superior training, yet he knows how to make sure you understand his diagnoses without complication and I trust him implicitly.

I see Dr. Ethan Ly every year for my annual eye exam. I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Dr. Ly and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We moved to the area about seven years ago. I’ve never had a negative experience in the past 7 years of patronizing this practice. Nor has my husband. On the contrary, we receive thorough eye exams in a very courteous and professional atmosphere. We are consistently satisfied and will continue to see Dr. Ly for our vision care needs.

Dr Steiner was fantastic. The last two optometrists Ive seen were unable to get my prescription right. Dr Steiner and the staff patiently worked through several solutions with me to make sure I understood the options and was satisfied with the end result. Thank you.

I will be back! The front desk was friendly and helped me understand my insurance. They were knowledgeable with all the machines and told me about each test and what it does. I never knew what the dreaded puff of air was for until I came here!! They took pictures of my eyes and I could actually look at them with the doctor! Well worth the extra $15 !! And the doctor was very thorough and answered all my questions. I will be returning with my children very soon!

Wish I had the ability to say no stars! The nurse in the office, I believe her name was Brooke, tole me and I quote You have a $35 copay and a $50 contact lense fitting fee as required by your insurance I called my insurance. My copay is only $20 and the fitting fee is completely up to the doctor and not an insurance requirement. Kinda makes you wonder how much the have conned people into paying.

Good customer service is one of those things that you expect any time you do business with any company, however, we all know that these days it is very hard to come by. That being said, having someone to go above and beyond is nearly unheard of.Id like to take this time to compliment one of your employees, Thuy, for the excellent service she provided me on Tuesday, March 27th, 2018. I called in about an issue that I was having with my contacts that I purchased. During the conversation, I decided that contacts may not be the best fit for me. Without any hesitation and without me having to ask, she helped me to sort out my concerns and she offered to contact my insurance company to see if they could help with the issue. (She took all of problems and made them her own – at least that is how she made me feel – she told me she would handle EVERYTHING and would call me back as soon as possible.) Within 30-45 mins, I received a call from Thuy, stating that there was nothing that my insurance could do and before I could sadly say ok :(, she said “WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!” She had already spoken with her manager, Dawn Marie –Thank You, and the solution was waiting on me. The best part about it, is it wasn’t one of those solutions where I had to make a sacrifice, I was 100% satisfied with the results and it made me feel even better because never once did they make me feel like it was an inconvenience to them...or like most companies to the “bottom line.” Usually to earn this kind of service, you have been stressed out, had to raise your voice and speak to a manager…I didn’t have to do any of that :)!Now I must say, I have always been pleased with the service I receive at your office. However, Thuys professionalism and ability to get to the bottom of the situation quickly exceeded my expectations. I was unable to come in that same day and she said that she would make the team aware so that there were no issues when I returned. I just left the office, can’t say that I was surprised, but she did just that.Today, I had the pleasure of working with Kristen, and she put the icing on the cake. So pleasant and easy to work with, breath of fresh air. I came in on my lunch break, Kristen was unfamiliar with the situation. I was thinking to myself, “oh-boy I am going to have to begin the process all over again AND I will be late getting back to work. Nope!! Kristen went right to the back and came back out with the solution in hand.I could go on and on about the associates at this office and how they truly made me feel to know that EXCELLENT SERVICE and CARING people do still exist. This has been the best service that I have ever received from not only a doctor’s office but PERIOD! (Even better than Chick-fil-a :) )Such a commitment to great customer service is to be commended. You can be sure that I will continue to do business with Dr. Calvert’s office for years to come.

Summary: H.D. Calvert M.D. & Associates (Eye doctor adjacent to the Cool Springs Lenscrafters): Front of house processes need work. Back of house (where it really matters) was great. Cool Springs Lenscrafters next door: Took less than 5 minutes to anger me to the point I wont buy glasses there. Big mistake, Lenscrafters. Huge.Explanation:Eye doctor, front of house: I made an appointment online for 10AM. Got an automated email confirmation, asking me to arrive 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. No sweat. I arrive 10 minutes early, to find the door locked and the lights out. Employees are arriving, and seeing me standing there, but they go in, can close the door behind them without a word to me. Finally someone arriving at least says something like, We open in a few minutes at 10, at which point I remind her I was instructed to arrive 10 min early, and ask if they are going to leave me standing out here, or at least let me come in and sit. Only then do they let me in to start the paperwork. SMH!NOTE: They dont dilate and the papers you sign authorize them to upcharge you for services (like retinal imaging) that they deem needed. I wrote on my paper that I wanted prior notice before any up-charged services were applied. I was going to pay for retinal imaging anyway, but asking me to preapprove whatever they want to do is bogus.Eye doctor, back of house: Mike took over and was extremely friendly and efficient. He kindly explained the upcharge for the retinal imaging, and I happily agreed to it. He used all the needed equipment, including the Clarifye bits to conduct my exam quickly and apparently effectively. After that, I only waited about a minute for Dr. Selinda Van Dell to see me. She was patient, and thorough, answering all my questions, except P.D. which is the distance between pupils. She gave me what the machine estimated it to be but said they dont do that, and referred me to Lenscrafters next door which would. (You have to have the P.D. in order to purchase glasses online if desired). I specifically asked to walk out of there with copies of all my records (not just the prescription) and digital copies of the retinal imaging. Mike made all that happen, except for the P.D., and he walked me to Lenscrafters.Lenscrafters: The guy asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted to know about the specials and get my P.D. measured. He said, that P.D. is something we measure to get glasses going, but we dont just do that independently, then stood there silently. I asked, Are you going to tell me about the promotions? He spend 20 seconds or less on this then stood there silently. This treatment made me feel a bit like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman being snubbed while shopping on Rodeo Drive. I excused myself and walked back over to the eye doctors office. Mike saw me and helped me immediately. I politely told him the situation and that I thought this was B.S. He went next door, got the ruler, sat me down, and in 5 minutes or less had my P.D. measured for me. Simple.I was going to shop around no matter what, but would have probably given Lenscrafters the business for the convenience factor, personal touch, and affiliation with the doctors office. As a responsible consumer, I certainly was NOT going to let Lenscrafters try to KEEP me from shopping around!! Bad move, Lenscrafters.Overall the experience with H.D. Calvert M.D. & Associates was good, though. I will probably be back to them.
