Loved my experience! I did a cake tasting yesterday and was not only blown away by the presentation and the taste but with the service! She gave us ample time to taste and deliberate and then helped us put everything together to make my dream wedding cake. And since my fiance couldnt make it she even packaged up our final selections so he would be able to try them. Seriously so thoughtful and kind of them to do and it really was the icing on the cake of a great experience. I will be recommending them to everyone ❤

The cinnamon rolls are delicious just add a glass of milk! Yes, they are $5 each but a good sweet treat worth it when you see the size. Chocolate chip cookies are good size for the price and taste good too! The service is always good when I stop in. The cupcakes are okay, nothing I would come here specifically for. They are small and the last time I had them were not flavorful.

A cute place in downtown Frederick. We’re gluten free and tried the flourless cakes and a GF macaron. My son didn’t enjoy the cake but my daughter and husband both did. The one year old enjoyed her macaron also 🙂 We definitely want to come back and try the GF brownies they had packaged up in the case, they looked yummy! We loved how there were kids books by the couches, too!

As an avid gourmet bakery lover, I figured I would give this shop a try; however, I was greatly disappointed. I ordered a lemon cupcake, the peanut butter Nutella/peanut butter cheesecake, a chocolate cookie, a brownie, and other pastries. The desserts tasted stale and did not have any type of rich quality. The freshness was insufficient, as the pastries appeared to have been baked a couple days ago. I ended up throwing everything away.

Cakes to Die For is our favorite place to grab a few BIG cookies so when we needed a wedding cake that was gluten free we knew to go back to them. They did not disappoint. Everyone loved the cake so much that we barely had a piece to save for our first anniversary. The cake matched our colors perfectly and the buttercream flowers were perfect accent colors for a Fall wedding. Great job! ❤

Good food, lots of vegan options. The older woman with short grey hair took off her mask to package cookies for an order. Proceeded to talk on the phone over a bunch of fresh baked cookies. Pick up at your own risk I guess. I think the hilarious part is that it was in front of the sign that said to not remove your mask for any reason.

COOKIES-ONLY REVIEW (because everything else in the case is stale AF):Cookies are EXCELLENT.This is exceptionally true for the sugar cookies and snicker doodles, which they sell tons of and make multiple batches of per day. I stop in for hordes of them whenever Im in Frederick.DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT purchase anything out of the case except the cookies unless you wanna be disappointed. For example, they will tell you the plastic-wrapped cake slices are fresh from this morning when in reality it is all days old.Stick to cookies only. Trust me on this one.

My favorite frederick bakery! Ive tested out the pies, cookies, cupcakes, brownies.....you name it Ive had it🤷‍♀️. And they are ALL delicious. This is the first place we take out of town friends to for a little sweet treat and is for sure one of the best treats in Frederick

They will prepare any flavor cake with any frosting and custom, handmade art. When I asked what kind of cake I could choose from, the response was Anything you want. A very wide selection of sizes and great customer service. The cake was delicious.Items from the case are very good - Im a fan of their scones.

Very organized and the cake turned out better than I could have imagined. Unique wedding theme was a kettle bell. The cake was a 3d kettle bell with our initials and wedding date on the bell where the pound of the weight usually goes. Chocolate was delicious. Also had variety of flavored cupcakes with kettle bell shaped icing. They allowed us to rent cake stand. Delivery was on time and they even handled time, etc through the site of reception.

Words cannot describe the owner of Cakes To Die For. I called Lucie the last minute for a birthday cake to be delivered to our grand daughter and without hesitation, she agreed to do it. Our daughter sent us a picture of the cake as we live in another state. It was gorgeous. She added some extra cupcakes and cookies to the cake order. She made our grand daughter feel very special. They told us the cupckae, cake and cookies were delicious. Thank you Lucie for all of your hard work in making our grand daughter feel special. I would not go any place else for pasteries.

Cakes to die 4 is HORRIBLE...I purchased cupcakes yesterday they were dry, tasted like they were days old. Frosting was extremely hard...My kids didn’t even want to eat them.I respectfully contacted the company to make them aware of my concerns and I was told by the manager that I was “Mistaken, the cupcakes weren’t dry”. The manager was very RUDE/Argumentative, she insinuated that I was lying.***I had a better experience at the bakery “4 The love of sweets.” The service was amazing and the cupcakes there were to DIE 4!!!***

Great baked goods, cookies, pastries, cakes and more... truly to die for haha. Great selection and very reasonable prices considering the high quality of products. Friendly staff also. They offer drinks too as well as some indoor seating to enjoy your baked good on site. Located near plenty of other food and shopping establishments in downtown Frederick. Would highly recommend.

I order vegan cupcakes from this bakery quite frequently for office birthdays. Over the last two months I have been quite disappointed by the decline in presentation and flavor. The icing is fine but the cake is a mess. You can tell that the cups are being overfilled because the cake is spilling out over the sides and looks terrible. I’m embarrassed to present them to my coworkers. And I’m frustrated that I pay $2.50 a cupcake to have them look like this. The flavor has been less than wonderful as well. I used to be excited to bring them into the office. Now I won’t order them anymore. Sincerely disappointed.

Yikes!! First impression is everything. Walking in I didnt get the sense that this was actually a bakery. The sweet bakery smell was non existent. I should have walked out at the moment. I looked at everything in the cases and decided to give the salted caramel cupcake a try. The cupcake felt unusually dense. I get to my car and figured Id try it. The cupcake was very cold to touch as if it had been sitting in the case for days. I tasted the frosting first and it had a weird stale refrigerator taste. I could not bear to eat anymore. It was thrown away. I will never spend my money there again.

Seems like this bakery has consistently gone downhill, even the counter service. i got a chocolate eclair last weekend and practically needed a saw to eat it. it was obviously very old. this bakery used to be very good, everything was fresh, and the staff was friendly, but not anymore.

Absolutely loved my experience with this business. I ordered over the phone for 20 cupcakes. Even though it was super last minute, my cupcakes where done the next morning and they were beautiful and delicious! They even brought them out to my car for me. We will definitely be back again!

My husband and I ordered a custom Shimmer and Shine cake for our daughter’s birthday a couple of months ago. They were very nice to accomodate us even though it was pretty much a last minute thing. We had a three-layered cake (chocolate-vanilla-chocolate combo) and it was amazing!! We told them how we wanted for the cake to look like and they delivered! All the kids loved it (and adults, too). Will definitely go back here!

Lucy did an amazing job with our wedding! The whole process was so easy and stress-free! Her and her team know what they are doing! The cake and cupcakes were a great hit at our wedding! I should mention that not only did they look amazing, they tasted more amazing than I could imagine! 10/10 would recommend for anyone who needs an honest, hardworking business to take care of their cake/pastry needs.

Cupcakes and single serve apple crumb pie! I wanted to give you a 5 star, but there are days when Ive been in there that the products have been off. Perhaps the baker didnt get in early enough or someone was in training? But overall good, yummy quality.

HORRIBLE 1st and LAST EXPERIENCE. If I could rate less than zero stars they would get a negative scoreI went to Cakes to Die for to order a cake for my daughters Sweet 16 Party scheduled for April 2019. Knowing that these things take time I ordered it 2 months in advance (Feb 2019). I put half the cake cost down as a deposit. 3 days before my daughters party I go to pay the balance. At first my order couldnt be found?? It was then found and while the woman I ordered the cake from was coming to ring me up, she tells the other young lady she was training that she has to add an additional $15 charge to my order for a dowel to hold my cake up. Excuse me? So I asked why wasnt I informed of this 2 months ago when I ordered the cake? Her response, she forgot. So I basically stated that since that was her error she should eat the $15.00 cost as it was her mistake that she didnt inform me at the initial quote months ago. She advised it was nothing she could do. I asked for a manager and was told that the owner would tell me the same thing she had. I advised her to call anyway and of course she supposedly called and got no answer. I advised if the owner says the same thing then Id need a refund. I left. About 10 minutes later (if that), the store clerk called and stated that the owner stated the upcharge stood and I advised I would be there for a refund. Please tell me how you run a business and cant quote correctly? Or how you didnt know the supplies you need for a cake and this is a bakery. There are over 100 people coming to this party and the cake was the main focus. You guys definitely lost a potential long time customer and all the business that wouldve come along with it. Get some competent staff in your store who care about the customers because if not...youll be closed soon. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE..

Im literally crying about how good these turtle brownies are. Its almost impossible to find a place that makes both vegan and gluten free desserts, but this place takes the cake - or rather, the brownie... Love them. Best brownies ever.

Even if you dont but anything, which you should, you need to stop in for the smells. This is a great little shop with lots of character. Ive tried more than I should there and Ive never been disappointed. Definitely worth a stop if youre looking for casual dessert while downtown.

Best place ever! I ordered a vegan carrot cake for my daughters birthday cake. Not only was it the best cake we ever had, but Kristen communicated great and the cake was on time and perfect! Thank you to all who made this happen!

This is my go-to stop after dinner every time Im in Frederick. I dont even look at dessert menus anymore at restaurants as I know Cakes to Die For is right around the corner or up the street. Everyone is friendly, every dessert ive tried has been amazing. Try the Peanut Butter Chocolate Parfait, the Lemon Crinkles or the amazing Blueberry Lemon Scones!

Great desserts, rich brownies that were almost like fudge, but just right portion sizes... Very cool bakery! We loved checking out some of the cool cake designs and watching them bake through the glass.

Ordered a cake for a baby shower for a baby girl. I was VERY specific about details on the decorating and colors. Cried when I saw the cake because it was NOTHING like I ordered!! I was SPECIFIC about lots of pink and the details on the dinosaur theme. Got a blue cake with a dinosaur that looked like a 3 year old made it! Thanks for ruining my daughter’s baby shower!!! Will never shop there again.

Reasonable prices for great tasting baked goods. Cookies, brownies, macarons, cupcakes, cakes...and I think they have ice cream too. They also have coffee and tea available, as well as inside and outside seating areas.

I was in town visiting from Detroit and my daughter ordered a cake and bought some other pastries. The petit fours were delicious. Can’t wait to visit again. This is my go to place for sweets.

The most unprofessional people. If I could give ZERO star, I would. I went into their store to placed an order, and was told that I would get a call back to confirm either way. instead of getting a call back, I call multiple times and they proceeded to speak in hush tone while I was on the phone about the woman whos cake youre not going to do is on the phone. do you want to tell her something or do you want me to just deal with it. This is after two days of waiting for a call back and they didnt have the courtesy to simply state that they wouldnt be able to make my cake. Well some other bakery got my $285 business and I will NEVER recommend them or even bother to remember this business exist. I will tell every social outlet NOT to use their business. The only color money has is GREEN!

The young lady at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. I got a variety of 4 different cupcakes to try. Oddly, the experience was the same for each cupcake. I found the icing to be flavorful with a smooth and creamy texture, but the cake on each was dry, grainy and lacked flavor. On two cupcakes it looked like the batter had not been mixed well enough as there were a few hard patches of white in the cake. The only one I didn’t enjoy at all was the lemon raspberry. No lemon flavor at all.

The people at the counter were polite, that is really the only good thing to say about my experience at this place. Stopped in for dessert while visiting Frederick based on good ratings. Ordered a coconut rice pudding and a carrot cake cheesecake to split with my husband. The rice pudding was inedible--dry, with tough rice, and an unpleasant fake coconut aftertaste. I love rice pudding and I had to spit my bite into a napkin because this version was so distasteful. The carrot cake cheesecake was edible, but only that--bland, dry, flavorless. Do not recommend.

Disappointed that I was given incorrect info on how much notice they needed for a wedding order. When I called, they were booked up. I needed specific and special (GF, DF and Red Velvet) and they were 1 of very few bakeries who could do those things. But no longer had time.

I went in for my first wedding cake tasting, and left with a contract! The cake tasting was delicious and we got more than enough information upon our first consultation to know for a fact that this is where I would get my wedding cake from. I showed her my Pinterest board, and within ten minutes she had drawn a cake that was exactly what I wanted!! All of the flavors that we tried were amazing. I would highly recommend this bakery.

If I could give ZERO stars...I’ve had their desserts before and some that were passable. I had asked them to make my birthday cake supplying them with one of my favorite recipes to make sure It was something I’d love.I stopped in, called, emailed, and called several times to confirm that they would be willing to make a cake using one of my recipes. They agreed saying it was no problem. I even accommodated them by moving the date around to fit their schedule irrespective of when my birthday actually was.I arrived on the day that we agreed the cake would be ready to find they had NOT MADE THE CAKE. Nor did they ever call me to let me know there might be a problem when they knew what day and time I was coming. Extraordinarily unprofessional.I won’t be soliciting their establishment again, for any reason.

This was the first time I have ever ordered one of their cakes and I have to say it was very disappointing. I ordered a cake large enough for 12 and there was pretty much an entire cake left over. Very dry, no moisture at all. It literally crumbeled in your mouth. There wasnt much flavor to the cake or the icing at all. Needless to say I will never be returning to this bakery.

If I could give zero stars I would. STAY AWAY from this business for special occasion orders. My wedding is two weeks away and they left in completely in the lurch because they tried to overcharge and had my order wrong. Background: We called three times and finally got a tasting in February which took about 30 mins to schedule because the clerk was completely undone by the request that we have all five flavors offered at the tasting and could not explain the difference between a filling and icing. After it was scheduled and we chose our stuff for our small wedding that would be held across the street, we got a quote for $265 to include delivery, cupcake stand rental of $15 and simple floral decoration on each cupcake. Again this was resolved in FEB and my wedding is in MAY. I was told I would get a follow up email and went in no less than 3 times in person to go over the order because the clerks always seemed like they werent quite sure what was going on. Each time the order was written down again. I would also ask for an email that never came. Yesterday I went in to pay the balance only to be told that they are now charging $50 for cake stand rental and 20 cents per cupcake decoration plus an additional delivery fee. The total was almost 100 more than my original quote AND they had the order wrong. The person who waited on me was the same person who did the tasting. I texted my fiancee and friend to make sure I wasnt going crazy and they both said that this was an overcharge. I explained that I had been in three times to confirm but she STILL didnt have my order correct and I never got the email that was promised to me. So I asked to speak to the manager/owner. The clerk went back to get this person only to return and say she is too busy to speak to you. She is working on an order. So did I also not have an order? Unreal. I cancelled the whole thing and got my deposit back because at this point I was unsure I would even HAVE any cupcakes on the day of the wedding. They might just forget all together at this rate. Clearly this business does not have any interest in event orders-- I have been trying to support all local downtown Frederick businesses with my wedding vendors and am disappointed that CtDF are so rude and unprofessional. I started reading reviews and have seen that I am not the first person they have done this to. I think they just want to rely in walk in traffic to sustain them instead of higher end orders for events and that is fine if it works for them but in that case they should not offer a service they cant deliver. The cashiers are generally pleasant but they never have any idea of anything other than ringing up small purchases. The woman who did our tasting was VERY nervous during the tasting and kept repeating herself-- I wonder if it was her first day there. Other times I have come in the staff have been kissing boyfriends at the counter, talking on cell phones, etc. I expected more. I wont be back. I encourage others to look elsewhere for their event orders (I called another vendor and had my order placed in 5 minutes for a more reasonable cost. Sadly I have not tried the cupcakes at this late date so we will see how they are.) But it is stressful enough to get together even a small wedding without this last minute hassle.

Worst first time experience ever! I called the place 2 days in advance to order a vegan b-day cake for my hubby. The young men who took my call confined my order to be ready for pick up at 11am on 28July16. I went to pick the cake up it & it was not ready. The order was never placed according to the young lady at the counter who never apologized & instead gave me excuses (the young men was new & only completed an inquiry for you). I left very disappointed with no cake or apology!

Unreliable.... I wont go into much detail. But me having to be extremely persistant with calling them to verify everything after I was told two separate times that the baker was supposed to call me. (I called this order in about 2 months ago and called two different times and never received a call back.) A little dissapointed. two days away from my baby shower and Im worring weather the cake is going to be okayed by the baker or not. They also underquoted me by $40 because they expect people to think about details of cakes (I know nothing about cakes). So in order for me to attempt to save some momey, I said no fondant and no decorations. But the piece that holds the cake together is an extra $40 (which is fine, but I wish I knew that ahead of time). On the bright side their cakes and desserts are really good.
