A nice, well-maintained indoor range with experienced and helpful staff, and attentive but not overly intrusive range cadre. Excellent prices on ammunition and accessories.

First time going to this range and I must say it was a wonderful experience. The establishment is very nice inside with plenty of cool things to look at. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Getting set up and ready to shoot is easy and organized. The lanes are clean and operate very nicely. Everyone was having a great time and we will definitely be returning!

Do not go here for your HQL training. In addition do not use their expedited service, as it will not be expedited. The company doing the expedited service are good, however, The Machine Gun Nest staff responsible for handling their side of the application are a mess! You can do it faster yourself. Because of this I will not be buying any hardware from here (plus they are overpriced compared to other shops in the region).

Havent taken any of their classes yet, but I expect I will. When I need range time next, I know right where Im going!

Let me start off by saying this is the 1st time I stepped foot in there and won’t be the last. I just started my first rifle build and I walked in with a ton of questions. I got every question answered and even a list of recommendations from reputable companies that they did not even carry there (they were not pushing me to buy from them and that’s a great feeling - no pressure).Joe & Brian where amazing and knowledgeable people. They interacted with us as if we were regulars there, they were super friendly, and even better they gauged my wife’s interest in guns to where she also started asking a few questions herself... Because of these two employees I will be going to them to build my gun and use their range.

Ist time visiting here today. Had an excellent experience. I live in Rockville, and came here because they allow you to bring your own ammo if you have your own gun.Very friendly helpful staff to say the least! I had a malfunction while on the range which required some Gunsmithing. Dan the gunsmith and his fellow GS Joe took it, and had me back on the range in no time! I was prepared to pay a fee for there services,, and Joe said no charge. Wow, blown away, and my pistol worked flawlessly after putting 100 rounds through it.Great operation, I highly recommend you go here and check it out! Thanks again to Joe and the rest of the staff for a great experience!

Best place if your are a beginner! After they took care of my husband ( knows how to shoot) They took the time to go over everything, by the time he was done I felt very comfortable with the gun he picked out for me. I wish I could remember the guy who helped but in all honesty they ALL were very good. Thanks again and with the experience I had, we will be more than happy to make the hour drive again. Hands down one of the best ranges in the area. My wife Cindy and I are members and live in Gaithersburg. Its worth the travel for us to come here every weekend. Very knowledgeable, warm, and very friendly staff. Doesnt matter if you are a newbie to the sport or a seasoned veteran, you will be treated with the same respect. Very organized, very clean facility. Never a long wait and if there is one, you can relax and enjoy yourself in their lounging area thats equipped with nice flat screen TVs and a play station. Great variety of pistols and rifles to rent. Even full automatics. The range hosts classes taught by the L5 tactical group. Highly recommend them for top notch instruction both in the classroom and live fire on the range. Cant say enough positive things about this place!

My brother and I went in for the first time a few weeks ago, and we had a great experience! The people working there showed us everything we needed to know, as it was our first time at an indoor shooting range in general. They have a nice clean setup, and it wasnt overly crowded at all, so we were able to take our time until we were out of ammo.After we were done, Kelvin took us to the front of the store and spent time with us answering all of our questions regarding their fully automatic weapons. They are a little pricey, but Kelvin explained to us all of our options and what would be the best money saver, and we definitely look forward to trying some of them in the future.Kelvin and the friendly staff ensure that we will definitely be back with friends and family, and we highly recommend this range!

First impression is a lasting impression; staff was great, knowledgeable, courteous and the facility was clean. Really nice place but customer service was lacking. I purchased a riflescope from them. After delivery I noticed that the scope was previously mounted and used. But they did not want to take any responsibility and blamed it on the supplier. I just wanted to get an exchange for the riflescope, but they wanted to charge me 40% restocking fee for something that was previously used and returned to the supplier. Never buying anything from this place again.

The best TEAM ever to be in one location of any retail outlet I have ever been to. Yes even APPLE! I have been there 4 times over the last month. Dealt with different people each time! Had gun transferred there, bought a gun there, and took my son there so shoot an AR. These guys are helpful and as attentive as they can be even when busy! If they make a mistake they own it and fix it! Really have to say they are 30 minutes from my home and wont go anywhere else to shoot. There is another Range about 6 miles from there....no names but they are the worst! Im no relative LOL but a recent gun enthusiast and collector, and would give these guys 10 stars if I could!....... Hoping this continues as I plan to be there often!

What I love about this place is the staff. On our first time here they taught us how to properly hold, load and shoot a gun. They would even tell you the differences in their gun collection. They would answer all our questions and they would even tell us additional information about their guns. Overall if youre a beginner and youre interested in going to a shooting range go here cause theyll assist you in everything.

Dont purchase items from their retail shop. They have an All Sales Final policy. I bought a $65 pair of muffs for ear protection and they dont fit. They refused to exchange or return them because the package was open. How are you supposed to try on ear protection if you dont open the package? Lesson learned.

We went to TMGN today for my husbands birthday. They truly went above and beyond for us. We all had minimal to no experience and wanted to shoot machine guns. Needless to say these guys were extremely patient and knowledgeable. Felt very relaxed but safe. Can’t wait to go back.

Service is like no other shooting range in the area. First time shooters are welcomed with open arms. The quality of the staff is amazing. They don’t make you feel bad if your not an expert with guns. I live 2 mins from a shooting range that has horrible service, and I make the 45 min drive this range because of the service.

This was my first time at the gun range. The facility was very nice and clean and the staff was amazing. Even though it it was Extremely busy it was not a long wait until I got to go on the range. While on the range I noticed this young lady shooting And explaining gun safety, hand placement and aiming with a couple guys that were with her but then I noticed when I went out to get more ammo she was working behind the counter. When I went up to the counter to get more ammo I asked the young lady Brittany didn’t I just see you on the range shooting? Also I asked why she didn’t have the same shirt on as everyone else that was working. She explained to me that she was not working today she just came in to shoot and saw how busy it was but she wanted to help our customers and co workers. I was very impressed with her response because most people would not have helped and would’ve just left. After asking her 1 million questions which she knew the answer to all of them which I was very impressed with. I thanked her and apologized for taking up her time and she replied with no problem this is what I’m here for. Thanks Brittany for your amazing help. I will be returning soon.

Very different than what we’re used to in WV. Very draconian environment, constant reprimands, overall disrespectful environment. Perhaps we’re not used to the Maryland firearms ethos, but we were so taken aback, husband nearly refused to shoot fearing public shaming. I think we’ll stick to our hometown ranges in the future.

Just wanted to give an amazing amount of kudos to Kelvin Wu and the staff at The Machine Gun Nest. I went for a birthday outing and our group was majority of first-timers. Kelvin made us feel super comfortable, answered all of our questions, managed our anxiety (reminded us to breathe ha!), and made sure to check on us throughout the process. All of the staff here are truly knowledgeable about the different types of guns, gun safety, and getting rid of first time jitters. Definitely check them out!

What an exhilarating and amazing experience. As a first time shooter, I was VERY nervous. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked in, Mike was attentive and helped us throughout the whole check in process. He was very thorough and patient with showing me how to use a gun. He made sure I was 100% ready before using the real thing. Walking into the range, we met Kevin who helped continue the amazing experience. I felt safe throughout my whole time being there. I had lots of fun and would def recommend this place for first timers or anyone feeling uncomfortable or just anyone. Will def come back again!

Indoor range for larger hand and long guns. Wide variety of firearms for puchase or rental! For those in need instructors and range master are always on point! 45/60 minute drive (depending on traffic) but well worth the trip!

Not very good at answering the phones, but would see folks standing around behind the counter 5 minutes after trying to call and driving in there.I have some questions. What do they do with confiscated magazines in excess of 10 rounds from incoming transfers as cant legally sell them in the State of MD? Why did they keep my magazine with the pinky extender specifically but let me have the other one without?

I have been to many ranges and gun clubs, and this is by far the BEST experience Ive ever had. The staff are friendly and helpful, and (unlike other places) are welcoming to novice shooters. Nobody talks down to you or gives you the stink-eye here. The range rules are very safe, but not overbearing. The facility (including the bathroom!) is clean and well-maintained. They have a good selection of guns to rent, and the stuff for sale is reasonably priced. Im SO GLAD this place is in my area, and even though I dont shoot often, I am happy to be a supporting member. Recently visited and had a problem with my gun, and a staff member went above and beyond to help me troubleshoot it. If youve had bad experiences at other shooting ranges, Machine Gun Nest sets a new standard of service. Im seriously blown away by how awesome these folks are, its a breath of fresh air compared to other places. I would give 6 stars if I could!!

We had a wonderful experience here, and I highly recommend the Machine Gun Nest! All the staff were friendly, patient, helpful, and professional. We had a large group of varying experience (bachelor party), and they were very accommodating - they helped us understand what was available, and made sure we all had an awesome time. The staff was very knowledgeable, and provided some interesting history and background in addition to the safety training. My friend and I went there for the first time over a holiday weekend. It must have been everyone elses idea too. The place was packed 5 minutes after we got there.We were kind of lost not knowing the process how they set up for machine gun time and due to the super heavy store traffic that day, we were accidentally forgotten about. When we brought this to the attention of the great folks at the counter, they immediately made things right. We were put into the class educating us on the procedures used to keep everyone safe and having fun with full auto weapons.These folks are all business when it comes to safety. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the weapons we would be using and imparted that knowledge to us before we ever started.All in all, AN ABSOLUTE BLAST to do! Great people and GREAT fun! If you only do it once in your lifetime youll be glad you did. I CANT wait to get my chance to get back there to do it again!

First time gun buyer here, my experience at the machine gun nest today was great, the staff are friendly and respectful to all people. I went in today to buy a ruger 10-22 as my first rifle . Never did they try to upsell me or, take advantage of my first time buyer status, forgive me for not knowing his name, but the bald guy with the beard was extremely helpful in showing me what cleaning supplies and other accesories I would need, overall a great experience and I definitely will be shopping here again.

I love this range! The place is bright, nice and clean. The ventilation system on the firing lanes is top of the line. Imagine outside air while shooting indoor. What makes this place great above all else are the people working there. Everyone is just nice and helpful - never an condescending attitude like I have experienced with other ranges.Great place for beginners and experienced alike. They are well worth the visit!

Ive gone to many ranges along the entire east coast. This range is the most enjoyable time Ive had at any of them. This range is how everyone should operate their range. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They care about your interests and will make sure that you are being safe and fun. They treat you like a friend and I highly recommend this place. You do not have to be a gun enthusiast to shoot here and have fun. Bottom line, great people, great place, and great fun. I will continue to visit this place and it is worth waiting. Other gun ranges should take notes.

I went today alone and this was my third range experience. The place was very welcoming and neat. I was assisted initially by Ryan who educated me on gun types especially since I’m a lefty. When I got in the back James took over and assisted with a better shooting style which gave me confidence removing my nervousness. Was an overall wonderful experience and I can’t wait to go back!

If youre not police or military DO NOT BUY a firearm from the Machine Gun Nest in Frederick Maryland. They treat people who arent blue like second rate citizens. I waited for over an hour to be helped and when i asked why they kept helping people that came in after me i was told to Show some respect to law enforcement. The help i ended up receiving was shotty at best, the guy tried to sell me a 9mm as a .45 and then tried to say my inexperience was the culprit to wasting his time.With all the competition in town i suggest going some place reputable like Gun Runners or Atlantic. I just had an absolutely awesome experience here! I highly recommend this gun range. Chis and his cohorts were full of knowledge. I told him I never shot an semi-auto hand gun before and he spent at least 30 minutes with me one on one going over the basics of the gun and shooting stance and grip. Chris was very professional and had no problem helping me and most importantly making sure I felt comfortable with a large caliber hand gun. They were extremely busy but very efficient and they helped everyone and kept a great attitude being so busy. After shooting I like the gun and felt so welcomed by the outstanding customer service I told him I was ready to buy the same model. Again can’t say enough good thing about this place it’s a bit of a drive from where I live but definitely worth the 45 minutes. If you go make sure you ask for Chris he was a pleasure to work with.

Worked with Deryck on a fact finding mission for purchasing parts to construct my first AR Pistol, as well as pricing for accessories. Also got great information on hunting equipment as well as Handgun info and pricing for personal and home defense. The whole atmosphere and feeling working with Deryck was professional but without coming across as prohibitively so: I was offered information in a way that was easy to understand without the hint of condescension. Cant wait to work with these guys more in the future. Every first time firearm owner or even a fire arm skeptic should make this the first place they go.

The facility is very clean and modern. The rental selection is large and diverse. They have just about any firearm you would want to try out before purchasing. Many smithing jobs are done on the spot, and their fees are almost half of what you can expect elsewhere.Their range is also well-lit, supervised at all times, and their rental fees are VERY reasonable. I drove almost an hour out of my way because Id heard such good things about The Machine Gun Nest. Even with such high expectations, I was still pleasantly surprised.

It come with 2 pair of ear and eye protectors, 1 hour of admissions for two, one rifle, 4 boxes of 9mm ammo and two shooting sheets.It’s my first time doing shooting range and staff are super professional and informative.First thing first, they directed me to watch a safety short video, then sign the “new shooter waiver “. After that you get to choose what gun you are interested to shoot with, as soon as you chose one, the staff will instruct you STEP BY STEP on how to properly use it. ( shooting range, load bullets, hold the gun, aiming and body positioning)You will need to make the same position right after the staff demonstrated to you, and if you make any mistake the staff will correct you.Once you are confident enough, you can walk into the shooting range room. A safety officer and assistant are inside already. So very easy to find help.* Must wear closed toe shoes.* Bring you ID* Does not take reservation, first come first serve.* They welcome you to take picture inside the shooting range room.* They offer D-lead soap for you to wash your hand and face after you finish shooting.* The 1 hour admission start when you go inside the shooting room. So you do have plenty of time to shoot.* One box of 9mm rifle ammo have 20 bullets.* Shared the rifle and shooting lane with my friend. You could choose to have your own if you want. But always a good idea to watch you friend and take picture of each other.

The guy behind the counter let me hold many different handguns, talking about them all the while, and on the range an RSO helped me resolve issues I was having running my AR for the first time. He was very persistent in helping me troubleshoot and identify the source of the problem, and did not condescend or make me feel bad about it. Rentals are affordable and the selection is great. The facilities are clean and attractive. A+ experience! A great place for new shooters like me to learn the ropes.

I brought my friend here from out of town to let him have his first full auto experience and I sighted in my new AR.The place is very new and clean. This is a really good indoor range. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Matt certainly goes out of his way to make people feel welcome. I have been a member for over a year and have had good experiences with wait times, professionalism, and shooting advice. As far a appearance goes this place is a good balance of modern but not over done.I can understand the frustration with the 100 dollar fine when hitting the target holder. Fortunately I have not (yet) and do not plan to. My target is kept between 3-7 yards and I try to be extra careful.One of the biggest pros is how this company is sharing firearms education with the community of Frederick. Maryland is a tough blue state, but hopefully with more education and less fear of weapons we can help pass some more constitutional laws.

This facility is geared for the serious enthusiast. Very safety oriented and very much aware staff. We were handled professionally and they had very good product knowledge. Great parking lot, lounge area, and display and business counter. The range area is well planned and well maintained.I could go on about why this is a top flight range but there are so many areas of excellence. Just know that this is a well run range that will provide you with an excellent shooting experience.

My dad had been ranting and raving about this place and the people that work there! Ive been wanting to buy a gun, shoot and become more comfortable with owning a gun, so while I was in town my dad and I went to shoot! 1. The place is very clean and very nice! 2. Every single person that works there was so friendly and despite the crowds (day after thanksgiving crowd) they each took time to help, correct and advise me during my time there! I really cannot say enough about how impressed I was with literally every aspect of this place and its people. My dad and I are already talking about going the next time Im in town to visit again! Keep up the great work guys!

Went there on my birthday, Im from New York with stricter laws, no full auto. The staff was great. Selection was pretty nice, rented out assortment of sub machine guns, assault riffle, and the Barrett m82.Had a blast shooting them.The only downside, the price. Wasnt cheap by any means, but was worth the experience.Would come back again to try the one I wanted to try, but was out of service.

Went there with my wife to try out a few different handguns. Rental selection was great thought they lacked a large section of guns for actual sale. Staff was nice and professional.

We took our buddy here to kick off his bachelor party and had the BEST time. Great facilities, a dizzying array of firearms available to rent, and an exceptionally knowledgable and helpful staff. Special shout-out to Natalia, Anthony and Ryan who helped us out.

Went here with about 7 people for my brothers 30th birthday. We had a lot of fun and the guys working there were all very friendly and helpful. My brother really enjoyed getting to shoot the machine gun and getting the free shirt to remember the experience! My other brother mentioned that he liked this shooting range much better than others like Gilberts.

The whole thing was a great experience. It was my girls first time shooting and she couldnt have had more fun and been in better hands. The staff is excellent and was one of the reasons it was a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Liability waiver was bit of a hassle, but the overall experience wasn’t bad. This place was open when Heritage was closed for private lessons. The Asian manager there was awesome, he understands customer mindset and was able to offer incentives to join membership. Commended.

Great experience! It was my first time shooting a gun and the instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. Wait time was slow, however we did come in during the afternoon on a Saturday. Overall, I will be definitely coming back =)

I had never shot a gun before I went to the machine gun nest. I decided to finally go based on a recommendation of a close friend and now Im a part of the MGNs ladies club! Ive even shot an AR-15! Every single staff member Ive come in contact with here are hugely knowledgeable, personable, and very approachable. All of my previous fears about firearms and shooting have completely disappeared. Hailey, Stephanie, Matt and Dalton are huge standouts to me, but honestly everyone that works here is outstanding!

The owners attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this range. Clean, attractive interior and top of the line safety equipment with a very impressive selection of firearms for rental. Where they really hit a homerun is with their staff selection. The nest makes even first timers feel like family. They strike the perfect balance of professionalism and personality. Highly recommended for shooters of all backgrounds.

Place is awesome! Very efficient, technologically advanced, employees are super friendly and helpful. My fiance and Id new favorite range. 45 minutes away and Id rather spend the gas to be more comfortable while practicing and trying out newly built fire arms!

We came to TMGN as amateurs, and now feel confident handling many different types of handguns thanks to the staff, all of whom are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They are always willing to not just answer questions, but step in and offer advice when they see a way you could improve your stance, or your grip, or your aim by doing things a bit differently. Their whole aim is safety first, fun, technique, fun, training, fun! Every visit is enjoyable and a learning experience. We love bringing others to the range to experience all they have to offer.
