Great spot for all kinds of wood.Do mill work as well as glue ups, I admit I was jealous of the wall of clamps.Room full of exotic shorts a wall of pen blanks and a wall of other turning blanks.Nice staff who were helpful as we bought 3 pepper mill blanks.I’m not local so no boards today.

We are so glad we went to Frederick Lumber Company for our table project. They have an incredible range of different lumber from exotic to more common types. The staff is super helpful and will guide you through the process if needed. The sales person (unfortunately dont know her name) we talked to was very knowledgeable and patient with us. She encouraged us to look around and showed us different samples. We ended up with beautiful pieces of Hickory that we could not be happier with.

Maryann is great to work with on the front end order. Shes very patient and had great suggestions on options. I was working on shelves so varying thicknesses, lengths and depths. 2019 Project: 2 walnut shelves 48 in kitchen.

Being a person who loves to look at the different types of wood the world has to offer enable to either build with them or just stare in awe, this place is a slice of heaven for a woodworker. The staff that were there were very kind to us for people just looking around and also seemed to be very fast at completing orders whenever they happened so you were guaranteed a quick visit.

If youre looking for quality wood and great service for a project, or home improvement, this is a great place to go to. I just bought a slab of beautiful timber for shelf project. Browsing, the choices of wood planks, slabs, took my breath away. I had the pleasure of appreciating different kinds of hardwood, and soft wood, with each specific grains and colors. I was guided to the show room and found my perfect wood piece. I had it cut to my specification. I drove home beaming. The cut wood planks looked perfect, matching the wood grain of my furniture. Such a wonderful service. I highly recommend the Frederick Lumber Company. I will definitely go back there. What a treasure.

We worked with them to make a custom vanity top for a powder room remodel. They were patient and knowledgeable regarding what would work best and had relevant suggestions on what we wanted. We decided to go with spalted tamarind (even picked up a scrap piece for a small kitchen project!). The final result is perfection and well be back!

Ive been looking for a local hardwood shop with a good selection, this is it. Plenty to choose from, hardwoods, exotics, slabs, thin wood. Neil and Mary Ann are awesome. Extremely helpful and glad to help take care of whatever you need.

My new favorite source for wood!!! I was looking for 8/4 basswood. All I could find was 4/4 boards and 16/4 shorties. Exotic Lumber in Frederick had 10 - 15, 7 boards 6 - 8 wide at a good price ($3.95 BF). Mary Ann is super friendly. Great selection, outstanding customer service and reasonable prices. This was my first trip here. Its a pretty good haul from Southern Maryland, but worth the drive. All highway and not too much traffic on Saturday morning. I didnt have time to check out their entire inventory or take pictures, but I will go back next time I need wood.

Found a treasure cove !!Just learnt about them last week on FB, decided to drive up and check out and wow !! They have got great selection of lumber and everyone there is so helpful to answer any question foolish to hardest. Ended up buying as much car can hold. We will be back soon...

We had the most amazing experience! The staff were super friendly and offered to teach our boys about different types of wood while my partner and I explored the shops excellent selection. They helped us choose the best piece as a mantle. We installed today and it was a perfect fit!!!

This place is amazing. A treasure trove of lumber that you cant find anywhere else. The staff is very helpful is helping to select a type or piece of wood for a specific project and they offer services to cut, joint, plane, etc to your specifications. Just looking at all the types of wood is fun. My wife wont let me go unsupervised anymore :)

The owner is very polite and respectful. The warehouse is incredible. If your an artist working with wood I would highly suggest checking it out. I will be visiting again for more projects in the future and also to hopefully gain knowledge from someone who has made a living from wood. I love it here. I always walk out with something. Best selection of slabs between PA and NC. They have a pricing system based on size and wood type so they wont overcharge you. Super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable staff.

I shouldnt have waited so long to check this place out. They have a phenomenal selection at prices comparable, if not cheaper, than some places online. The show room is quite nice and everything was organized neatly. The woman behind the counter was incredibly friendly and very very helpful and knowledgeable about every product I had a question about.I buy wood mostly for making knife handles which requires medium sized blocks of wood. Most exotic wood stores Ive found carry mostly large furniture sized slabs or tiny pen blanks and not much in between. I was very happy to find Exotic Lumber had a great selection in all sizes.I am super happy this place exists right here in Frederick and I will be back many times. I could spend a lot of time and a lot of money in this place.

They have all types of wood here for sale. Lots of reclaimed wood cut down to boards of various widths, lengths, and thicknesses, but also large slabs that can be used for tables. We got some beautiful walnut that was milled into open kitchen shelving for us. They did a great job and we love how our shelves look.

This place is the place for serious woodworkers and those clients as well. In other words, people who love the look of wood and willing to pay for it.

Absolutely appalled. came in money no object. staff was rude as can be. they wouldnt offer to cut as was advertised on their website. stay away. lowes or home depot makes this place look like fast food.

I love this place. If you are a woodworker and are seeking exotic, hard to find, or wood that looks different than the usual stuff from box stores, this is the place for you. Its a bit pricey but you arent going to find most of these woods anywhere around here.

Wanted to make a cutting board of exotic and traditional woods. Their selection was unbelievable! I came away with a nice selection of traditional and exotic woods. If you are a weekend carpenter, this place is like a candy store of material. Great overall experience.

They have an amazing stock of woods of all species. It has the smell of wood being worked and offer some services to customers. If they dont have it In stock, they will get it. Make no mistake, they are not a box store with framing woods, more like a cabnet maker/millrite source. IMO, they are a great neighbor.

Dont think just go. The variety and the quality of wood available here is spectacular. If youve never been youll be easily entertained for an hour.
