Have gone in many times and every time I did not feel welcome. I’ve gone looking for a specific gun and have asked if they have it but for some reason I’m always told “you can’t afford it”. That is not a great way to sell yourself nor a great way to sell anything. Green top is a much better place to go even if it’s out of the way. I’ll drive the extra 30-40 minutes to bring my money there.

When I initially walked in the store the workers was a bit stiff with their attitude. One employee in there actually helped me He was very informative and attentive. He answered all my questions with full detail.

This place is nothing but attitude. Better customer service at Green Top. I was purchasing a product and the lady at the counter filling out the paper work made fun of my name to my face several times. Stay away from here. The staff act like you’re bothering them half the time and they’re just not good people.

Awesome experience, I feel like every gun shop should be like this. Staff was helpful and friendly. Called for a specific gun, gave me a deal on it; and ended up buying 2 guns since they had a shotgun I had been looking for a while now. I have bought guns in other places around Fredericksburg, big name places like Ganders, but is not the same. Other places either the staff is rude or their stock is limited, SSG Tactical is not like that, 5 stars all the way. Will recommend to everyone from now on, and definitely buying my guns here from now on too.

Not impressed. Went in looking for a new revolver, found two I really liked and probably would have bought one of them as the prices were very good on one and reasonable on the other - but couldnt get anyone there to help me! One of the ladies said someone will be with you in a minute, but 15 minutes later I was still standing there. And they werent that crowded - there were more staff than customers by the time I walked out. Will take my business to Green Top from now on - the staff there are excellent, and they are almost always packed and still manage to find time to help you.

Going to have to piggyback on the rude employee comments (Fredericksburg). I dont know what the deal is with gun store dudes having a holier than thou attitude. First guy I talked to was fine, kinda had short answers, but no biggy. Second dude was the quintessential ex/cop/military guy thats above working at a gun store, but working at a gun store.If customer service doesnt bug you, these are some of the worst prices Ive seen. To back that up, they had a Scar 20 priced at 4400...you can drive 10 minutes and get one for 3700. Want a Q Fix, youre going to drop 600 over MSRP...just to name a few.UPDATESo I went back because they had a particular gun I was looking for. A guy named Brian helped me out. Really knowledgable dude and went above and beyond to help me. Upping my review to 4 stars as their prices are still pretty high. Kudos to Brian for redeeming my faith in this store, some of the other guys could take a page from your book.

I recently bought my first gun which was a glock 19, i had no problems went in told a member what i was looking for he helped me out by answering all my questions after i filled out everything i was good to go after the background check I believe his name was james appreciate you on helping me get my first firearm I definitely will be shopping here often!

Went here to buy an ar pistol for my wife for Christmas, went to the range shortly after and realized that the adjuster for the gas piston system was missing. I looked back through pictures I had taken of the gun both at the store and when my wife opened it and the piece was missing. I took the gun back to ssg and asked for help on the missing part, they said how do they know I’m not lying and we didn’t lose it, I showed the pictures, they then sent me over to their gunsmith that said he’d have to order the part from the manufacturer and they’re slow so it could be a year. I asked to exchange the gun I had bought new with a missing part, their response was we don’t take used guns, one round had been through it. So I decided to wait, never heard back, called after a month and they said there’s nothing they can do but wait, so I waited another month and still nothing. So I called the manufacturer who said they haven’t heard from ssg and they sent the part free of charge with the tool to install in under a week. I’ll never go here again and will discourage anyone I know from going here. Horrible business practices and just straight up lying to their customers.

One of the best experiences Ive ever had. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about weapons. The store has all the equipment you are looking for and very good prices. I got there without knowing what I was looking and leave fully oriented. I recommend them 100%. Thanks you Guys..!!

Doug at Stafford was good to work with however do your homework online. Guns are over priced. Found my $600 gun online for $140 cheaper. Should have researched before buying. You cannot return and they do not match price. Also don’t trade in your used guns even if they have never been fired. They will only steal them from you with insulting offers. Better to sell them to online companies.

This is a great shop in many ways. There is an amazing selection of inventory in both parts and complete firearms. I have completed a few transactions at SSG and can say their staff are very knowledgeable. Respectfully to SSG, this is not the shop to complete an FFL transfer inbound or outbound. Whether it is not profitable for them or just an inconvenience you risk waiting several days for a firearm to ship out, or to be allowed to pick up a transfer at the shop. Surprising as the transfers are not cheap.

Went there for first time today. Had an amazing experience. Store was packed but staff was friendly and helping everyone in a timely manner. Took the time to explain about each pistol I was looking at and different accessories for them.

Ive been to this location multiple times, only because I keep ending up with gift cards from here. Almost every time Ive been here the employees have been in a bad mood about something. Unless you are assertive they will leave you standing around waiting. Ive been to many gun stores and SSG Tactical is the only one Ive felt unwelcome in. This is a shame because they have a good selection of products and some knowledgeable staff once you get to speak with them.

What a joke, charged $45 for 2 day shipping and it did not get to my ffl for 9 days. Also charge a ffl fee from ffl to ffl ( dealers do not have to pay a fee amongst themselves) because they can do whatever they want. Save yourself some time and go to Greentop where you get treated decent and not lied to just to make them more money.

Im a first time gun buyer/owner. They took the time to explain options, good/bad of the hand guns I looked at. Very patient, knowledgeable and respectful. I gained a lot of knowledge from them and feel confident in my purchase. Would definitely recommend them.

I went in looking for a revolver and had very little knowledge about how to select the right gun for me (Ive always used my friends gun at the range). The staff was very helpful even though they were visibly very busy. They would assist me and then help other costumers giving me time to shop on my own without feeling pressured to select something quick. They asked really good questions to make sure I was buying a gun that was the best for me and they also made recommendations of other guns that fit my needs. Once I made my choice the guy helped me pick a holster and ammo for the range to practice with and defense ammo. He recommended I try it out before I started carrying it and even told me of a cool place close to where I live. I ened up leaving feeling confident in my purchase and with a holster and ammo. I will always go here first from now on! Excellent service, and very knowledgeable staff.

This place is all attitude. I wouldn’t spend a penny with them even if they had what I was looking for. It was a waste of a trip. I’ve experienced far better and more inclusive gun stores. Stay away!!

Needed some .50 BMG in a pinch today, SSG had it. Havent been in SSG in over 5 years, seem to remember it looking different inside last time I went and not as much inventory. They had a great selection of guns and ammo, Ill definitely be going back for anything else I might need. Customer service was on point too!

Went in yesterday to purchase a gun and there were two employees behind the counter. Both were just chatting with a customer. Not showing a gun nor speaking about guns. After standing behind both customers for several minutes I ask if I could get some help. The short blond headed guy rudely stated that they were helping customers but then excused himself with the woman who he was chatting with and came to help me. I purchased from him but his rude attitude both before and after this incident will prevent me from returning.

Went here (a woman) with minimal gun experience, but enough to know what I wanted. Staff was very knowlegeable about the guns and helped me pick what I should carry for protection. Very happy with my purchase and the process took around 10 minutes after I picked the gun I was happy with. Thanks for making this painless and for being patient with my many questions!

Quite honestly, Ive never purchased anything here, but as each of my three oldest children turned six, Ive visited SSG Tactical to visually show each of my growing children the wide variety of firearms, models, sizes, colors, etc., so they have a better understanding of something potentially dangerous should they come across a person or child wielding one. The staff, knowing Im not buying, still welcome me and my children, and on at least one occasion, even joined me in discussing basic firearm safety with my kids.

Great selection, they almost always have what I am looking for. I do not enjoy having to prove my knowledge about guns and tactics every time I go here. I do not look like your typical CCW holder. For this reason SSG is my last choice if I need to buy something today. Way too much posturing.

Service was haphazard. Six or seven employees in the store. About eight customers. I had some difficulty getting attention of someone. I knew exactly what I was looking for. When I inquired about one weapon, they were out. I asked about ordering and got a non-answer. I asked about a revolver and got a look and feed back like I didnt know what I was talking about. Not impressed given I was talking about spending up around $3,000 and they didnt seem to care.

Didnt even have to go in person to realize customer service is all attitude. Just called and asked simple questions, unfortunately I got complicated answers mixed with attitude.I was planning on spending at least $1,000, but this is the LAST place that will get my money, actually they never will. Thanks guys for saving me the trip down there, good luck staying in business with staff like that!

None of the employees or customers wore masks. I did not feel comfortable in there at all. I was the only person with a mask on.

Not a single person in this place has any interest in helping you. All but two people in there have such a terrible attitude. God forbid you have to use their FFL service. Its clear that unless you buy it in their store they almost go out of their way to not be helpful. Not to even mention how over priced everything is. Same gun, same features, it was $100 cheaper at the gun store 2 miles down the road. If you like overpaying for garbage customer service this is the place for you!

Prices are decent, I had a friendly sales associate from another store that was a great help. I am from Ethiopia originally and when I filled out the ethnicity part which allowed multiple choices, I chose three that pertain to me. Then I heard them saying I dont know why people do that when entering the information in the computer, while another says yeah some do that. The big older guy that works there was very rude, asking me if I needed a gun because people are picking on me, Im 26 not a child and shouldnt be talked to in that manner. He then takes the pen from my hands and sets it down when I was filling the paperwork with the other sales associate and says doesnt want people filling in random boxes and going crazy with it . The other sales associate was instructing me and had a better grasp on how to do it. To reiterate, *He took a pen from my hands while he was on the phone sets the pen down... then says some go crazy do I know what he means. *- He wasnt that way with the other customers at all. May it be my age or the color of my skin. He most definitely treated me differently. Would not spend money at that backwards place again.

Bought two guns from them at a gun show. Turns out that their prices were pretty close to gander but they were quick to get the paperwork done and both of those guns have become a favorite to shoot. Although that probably has more to do with the fact that its Mossberg and s&w. I think Id definitely go to their store again if I cant find it at gander.

Bought my conceal carry firearm with them earlier to add to my collection. Sales associate was cool throughout the process. They like to crack jokes which were funny because I have a similar sense of humor. I think a few might feel offended, but that’s because they probably get offended at every single thing. To those people who get offended, I’d say lighten up. I had a very good experience. Will go back to pick up another firearm once I do more research on what i want next (because you can never have enough).

I’ve visited this establishment a few times and during my last two visits I asked if there were any milsurp AKM attachments, magazines, or equipment they had for sale and was treated as a lesser being for owning an AK instead of an AR and that I had “Made a poor choice”. Another time I was in with a friend and when he was checking out the associate asked if he was military or law enforcement to where my friend didn’t hear him correctly so he asked him to repeat what he said to which the associate responded “Are you military or law enforcement it’s not that complicated of a question.” I had also called in recently asking if there was a certain type of ammunition in stock and was told “No.” then was immediately hung up on before I could ask if anymore was coming in stock. Prices are pretty high compared to other local stores as well. I’m giving two stars because they have a large selection but I get a major “elitist” vibe from the associates working there.

Thoroughly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Spent over an hour with me ensuring I found the exact right gun. Offered a safety class. Processed a complete background check. Securely packaged the weapon for non concealed transport. I was very impressed.

Went in a few times to buy ammo, both times the associates were very short and condescending to me, not to mention the price hikes in their ammunition. Wouldn’t have spent money there if any where else had ammo, so that’s why I gave it two stars instead of one.

Ive purchased four weapons from SSG since 2016 and once again today they reminded me of the reasons why I continue to go there. I went in looking for a pistol similar to what I normally carry but wouldnt profile as much as my CCW. Within a minute they directed me to the ideal firearm and I couldnt be happier. With the help of the sales person ordered a rifle New Years Eve. Next day went on their website to double check and found it was not the correct gun. Sent an email and stopped by the store to cancel the order next day. They wanted to charge 15% restocking fee, even though it was their salesman who did not understand the difference between two models. Ended up disputing credit card transaction and got my money back. Worst retail experience in a very long time

I would give them a 5 for selection... A 3.5 for prices... But a 2 for customer service... Ive purchased 3 firearms from here and all 3 times I felt I was being treated as I wasnt there... Went in to buy a SR 1911 in .45 ACP and they were out of stock. Looked at alternatives and settled on a Rock Island Armory at about 1/2 the price. The staff at SSG Tactical assured me that the pistol was a good one, so I bought it. Took it to the range today and it performed as well as the SR 1911. Good service, good advice, and fair prices make SSG Tactical my gun store!

Had sights put on my husbands G19. I raved to my husband about the pleasant experience I had. He told me about some of the bad reviews for this establishment and I couldnt believe it! All the employees were so helpful. The very friendly guy behind the counter took care of us right away and got my sights on. We browsed around and felt completely comfortable (as a female sometimes it can be awkward, but not here) We will definitely be back. Great prices, large selection and amazing customer service 😊

This place has every firearm you could want. They have a selection that would make any gun collector drool. The staff is very knowledgeable and dont try to make you feel like an idiot as I have experienced with other gun stores. The prices are up there but they are reasonable to a point. If your unsure about what to get and need some help from people with first hand knowledge, these guys and gals are going to be there.

I wish that I had looked at all of the google reviews instead of the two glowing ones at the top (probably placed by the owner and employees). They promised delivery of an online order in three business days and when they never called I went to the store a week later and was told it never came in yet and had no concern or offer to find out when it would be coming in. I guess the next step is to contact the better business bureau and then dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Went to purchase a firearm and they turned me down with no real why except they don’t deal with Maryland FFL’s but I called and they said they do over the phone, was it because I was a young black male?

Have read some reviews here of rude staff and waiting forever. I have never had that problem at all. Staff is always very friendly and helpful and I come here to support our local small businesses. Great place to go and recommend you go by and see for yourself.

I have shopped with SSG on several occasions and always been completely happy with the experience. A knowledgeable sales staff has always been eager to help with any questions I have had. They have conducted special orders and transfers as well as new/used purchases flawlessly.

Went in Saturday 3/24/18. Ordered 2 Sig P229 Legions. Top notch service. Very pleased. Price is a touch high but the quality of service equals it out.

I have purchased from them twice, when I saw them at the gun show, in Chantilly, VA on 2 separate occasions. They had exactly what I was looking for. I checked with the other booths to see if I could find a better price and the other gun dealers where either the same price or more expensive. Whatever discount I could have found on the internet would be negated but the shipping and transfer fee so I bought from them. This past weekend, I took my sister to her 1st gun show and by sheer coincidence she saw the gun of her dreams at their booth as soon as we got in the door. They made her first gun buying experience painless and ensured that she understood the paperwork. Next gun show that I go to, I will make sure to look for the SSG sign first.

Great selection of rifles, hand guns, and other self defense weapons. My gf and I stopped in on a whim and the prices are really very reasonable for a firearms shop and the knowledge of their employees is hands down the best. Our awesome associate, Craig, was really-really knowledgeable and actually was able to change our perspective on our current decision. They carry an extensive variety of firearms and accessories that would cover just about everything you need and even your ammo needs. They are a good source for NFA items and the crew has been very professional and courteous. I live hours away but id love to o there more often. Good selection when I visited but what really turned me off was when asked if I needed help (sales person was an older black gentleman with a Stafford Sheriffs Office hat) I asked if he could look into and order me four magazines for my pistol. The employee said sure and walked away but an older couple walked in wanting to touch AR-15 rifles. This was shortly after the Sandy Hook school shooting, so everyone and their brother was buying AR-15s. I stood there and waited and looked around while your salesman watched as the husband and wife played with the rifle like it were a toy and asked 20 questions and after 15 minutes, gave the rifle back. The salesman then proceeded to help a man looking for a certain 1911 pistol. I wasnt even 8 feet from the counter when this was happening. So I walked out never to return. SSG Tactical I get it, a $1,000 rifle sale trumps a $160 accessories sale. But god dammit it is only polite to serve one person at a time. If your staff is multitasking, train them to do so! Also, The sales person in question seemed like a buffoon and an idiot.So after that ungrateful experience of being totally ignored and forgotten I had at SSG Tactical I decided to drive almost 70 miles round trip to a gun store in Culpeper Virginia, where not only the sales staff was coherent and helpful, I placed an order for four magazines. I was pleased to receive a phone call when the items came in and will gladly do business with that company again.

Regardless of all the negative comments, I gave this place a chance and I was very impressed. The staff worked with me and my speech impediment and gave me great insight on many different types of firearms. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot.

The real deal training. You wanna protect and defend yourself this is the place to train. They will teach how to get away from the wolves and back to your 5 year old

I read the string of reviews and am surprised by the few negative comments. Have been an avid firearms enthusiast since the mid 80s. Ive been to lots of shows, stores and even Pawn Shops.... Ive been dealing with SSG for a long time and have bought some of my nicest guns from them. SSG has been around a long time and they have really taken it to the next level by opening the shop on RT 3. They have a LARGE inventory of very clean guns. They pack a lot of desirable & hard to find accessories on the racks they have and they always have a ton of mags. They have a nice selection of practical knives and Class III items as well. All of the workers are a good fit. My experience is that the girls there know more than you expect. As long as there are guns there will be people who think they are getting a better deal at a Pawn Shop. Truth is Pawn Shops are bottom of the barrel in quality with top shelf prices. SSG is the real deal. I highly recommend you visit them and I challenge anyone to point out a store with better selection, service & prices.

The people here are all way cool and friendly. Way better prices and selection than Gander, and Dicks is a communist organization so this is the place to go in Fredericksburg. They even have a 20 mm Anti-tank rifle.

Ive been shopping at SSG for two or three years now. Extremely knowledgeable staff that will talk to you, figure out what your needs are, and recommend the right firearm. I meander in occasionally, buy a box of ammo here, a mag there, and do a lot of window shopping, but Ive never been pressured to make a purchase.All in all great customer service. The staff has been a little inattentive on a couple of occasions Ive been there, but so what? Every business has off days. The overwhelming majority of the time Ive had good experiences. If you want help, ASK. They wont dodge your question, and if they arent super busy with other customers theyre happy to chat with you for as long as you want.

Went to SSG for the 1st time today. Based on some reviews and personal experiences at other stores, I wasnt expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection, reasonable prices, and no-hassle atmosphere. SSG will be my go to LGS from now on.

I live in Woodbridge. I drove to here to purchase a light. Joe was happy to help me. I found out it was defective.i called and joe told me hed be happy to help. I came back and joe hated to help me. They had atleast 8 people working at the time and there was about 5 customers in the store. Joe said that he didnt want to help me with my defective light after he told me to come in so he can fix it. I called in the store to complain and a guy named mr ford helped me(great guy) i called later that day to let a manager know how joe had me drive just to put me out the store. Over that phone call joe said he was the manager, and he apologized saying sorry for the inconvenience and he would give me a couple boxes of ammo, so i drove back. When i got there he laughed. So i didnt get the ammo i was promised for the rude treatment and my 150 dollar loss. I will never return EVER

I just Bought an DPMS LR-.308 Oracle... SSG Tactical had one of the best prices I have seen on it.. the gentleman who sold it to me was very knowledgeable and very personable. I really enjoyed my visit to this shop.. I will be back...

Took a concealed carry class. Thought the instruction was thought provoking, informative and helpful. Plan to take more classes. Person at checkout and answering the phone when I called were helpful.

Do your research. High prices. Would not negotiate. Applied for their financing waited over an hour on an impulse purchase. Then they said they couldnt do anything for 3000 dollar purchase. Was supposed to get a phone call when the boss was in because they wouldnt call him. Five days later never got a phone call and when o called them I was told to buy it from another store. Unfriendly and Strange:Ive lived in 4 states, shopped at dozens of arms shops in each, and consider myself a fairly knowledgeable gun owner. The employees at SSG are straight up rude and unhelpful. Unfortunately, because this store is the closest to my home, I have found myself walking through its doors relatively often. No doubt SSG has great products and relatively good prices, but when it comes to customer service, nothing is more paramount than this when it comes to the firearms realm. On one occasion I asked their gunsmithing individual if he could fix and very old bolt action rifle of mine and he said, I dont want to waste my time on an old, cheap, $75 rifle. Do you want to know what this is code for?? *HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT*. He then handed me a card of actual gunsmithing professional in the area, thankfully. Ive decided that the last time I will enter through its doors was the other day when one of its employees told me that there is no such thing as a rear iron sight that can be adjusted elevation wise. This is what your dealing with at SSG. There are other stores in the area that Id recommend going to before SSG, but they just might not have the same quantity of selection.

I have been in this store twice. The first time I was treated with courtesy and my questions were answered. For that reason, after I had researched which gun I wanted, I came back, cash-in-hand, so to speak, ready to purchase. It was awful! There were several customers in the store and two or three employees behind the counter, one of whom was chatting up some highly made-up and pierced girl. Since I was completely ignored, I went to leave. An older employee spoke to me on my way out and I asked about the pistol I had in mind. It turns out the pierced girl is an employee and he sent me over with her to see the gun. She knew nothing about it and made no effort to talk to me or anything. The older employee never came over to help. I left, vowing NEVER to come to this place again! The pistol was $200 overpriced, too. If I am going to be treated like crap then I will go to one of the chain stores where the weapon will at least not cost as much.

I came across this store because recently, I had an amazing experience. The staff, and customer service was awesome, I was in and out in 20 minutes and bought a glock 19. I know the prices of guns and ammo has sky rocketed, its not their fault. I have been a DCJS/DOD/GSA ( department of homeland security ) security officer for over 9 years. I have bought lots of guns but this was the best experience hands down!!!!!!! I would recommended it and will be back for another weapon purchase and ammo.

I have purchased firearms from SSG and sold a couple to them. I have used them for transfers as well. They have always been very helpful and friendly. They have a huge selection to choose from and I will continue to buy from them.

I have purchased two rifles there. First time, I knew nothing about ARs, they guy explained in detail how they work and what the differences are. I bought a middle of the road DPMS. It’s a great rifle. Then a couple of years later I wanted something better. Again, the guy took the time explain a lot about what makes a better rifle. He sold me one that was less than what I budgeted for but if a fantastic rifle. I bought a Glock somewhere else and one day went by there with some night sites I bought on amazon. I asked how much to install them and guy behind the counter said “didn’t you buy a rifle from us?” I said yes and he said, “give it here”. He installed the sites for nothing. I haven’t been there in a while but I read some reviews about poor customer service. I have not seen anything like that. I have been there many other times and bought nothing, asked questions, looked at guns, held them and so on. They never act aggravated or rush me. This is a great shop to deal with and I’m glad they are in my area.

Not a good store. I have read other posts and agree. They openly argued over who was going to have to clean the store bathroom - right in front of me. It seemed to be the new guy lost and others hoped it was nasty in there. Most were there not to help you. The prices were crazy. Much better deals at Green Top in Richmond and a much more professional staff there too. Will be driving the 1 hour ride to them to get what I need -

Worst customer service Ive gone in 3 diff times and no employee ask if I need help or anything. This last time 2 employees helping one customer. Maybe its because everytime I go in i have my 3 year old son but they just lost my busines .

Complete scam artists. I was verbally told that the gun I was buying came with 2 magazines then after I paid for it and opened up the case I saw one. I nicely came back and spoke to the same guy about the missing magazine and he said he never told me that which is the main reason I bought the gun! He was either a liar or incompetent and misinformed about the gun he was selling me. Also, they said they were all military but they dont do a military discount. Disgrace!

I have had mostly pleasant experiences with SSG. They have somewhat inflated prices, but brick and mortar shops have overhead and cant have huge discounts off everything like online stores. I understand this and support local businesss. When it comes to a firearm purchase you arent going to spend $100s more, you might spend 75-100 more tops. But the staff is friendly and took their time with me. I was even upfront and said I just wanted to handle a few different pistols and they where totally cool and took their time with me and told me their thoughts on the pistols I handled. I was comparing the pistols to one I already had and the guy actually told me he thought I was better off with the one I already had. That he would not fight me if I wanted to purchase another lol but he thought I would be wasting my money looking for something else which is truly awesome.This place is way better than anything else local, especially if you consider making the trek out to king George to visit big dogs. That place is atrocious garbage. Go read my review on them to see what kind of crap I have dealt with from them.

Great shop with a very knowledgeable staff that actually knows what they are talking about not just reading from specs .I purchased a firearm from here last week and I am very happy with the purchase.😎😁
