My experience with Powells furniture was phenomenal. While they have great products it is the people that made our buying experience from entry in the store to delivery a reminder of what customer service truly means. Our sales member Alex allowed us to take our time in looking at recliners. He didnt pressure but was there to answer questions from quality of manufacture including history to what does this color look like in different lighting Once we made our selection the purchase transaction was quick and straightforward. Delivery was prompt - less than 96 hours after we walked in the store. The team was on-time, courteous and took the time to make sure we were happy with the two recliners and ensured they worked. I truly appreciate the entire Powells team and the positive experience.

I went to Powell’s with my mom after her recommendation— she has had furniture pieces from Powell’s for over 20 years that have held up beautifully. I was looking for a very specific size/shape of sofa and we hadn’t been able to find it in any other stores we visited. We were greeted by Lloyd who let us walk around and look, and we found the exact sofa I was looking for- and on sale! I purchased it immediately and found out they even had it in stock so it was available for delivery the following weekend- exactly when we needed it. It was perfect! We had a couple of hiccups (the original sofa was damaged, so we thought we would have to find a new one), but they ended up getting a delivery with our exact same sofa that week. We picked it up that Saturday and it fits perfectly in our space. We have gotten so many compliments on its great fit in our living room and how comfy it is! We purchased bedroom furniture from Powells over 16 years ago and it has served us so well that we returned to them when it was time for the living room set to be replaced. Had a great experience with the sales manager, Alex Wilson, and got what we think is a really good deal on some very nice furniture. We had a great experience at Powells this past Labor Day! Going in the staff was welcoming but not overpowering. They offered to help if we needed but also allowed us to browse and look at the entire store. Which has a HUGE selection by the way. We couldnt believe how much there was to offer. The advertisements are true, they really do have the best prices around. We are building a new home and were worried about storing furniture until the property is finished. It was no worry, they will hold our furniture until move in. Most things were in stock and available.Our sectional is going to take several weeks but nothing compared to other furniture stores. We have been looking for a new living room set and were not quite ready to purchase as we still had a few more stores to explore. Jerry and Mr. Powell both took time explaining the quality and the inner structure of the different power couches and love seats. What a great experience! I had ordered a couch that after 5 months of waiting never arrived, so I went to Powell’s. I found a beautiful couch that was in stock and it was delivered within the week! Wanted to pick up an accent chair for the living room, and found Powells. Danielle Brandt was wonderful to work with. Very cheery, helpful without being pushy, and connected us with what we are looking for. We will need to replace some other furniture later this year, and we will be coming back. Nice to see quality furniture that will last longer than a year or two. The showroom was huge, and it was helpful to see so many different set ups.

We have been wanting a soft comfy sofa for several years..and we have looked off and on but never found what I was looking for. I recently got rid of our sofa and was finally ready to find a replacement. I visited several local furniture stores with Powels being our last stop. I found what I thought i was happy with and decided to take the weekend to think about it. On Monday I asked my sister to accompany me and take a look at what i had decided on. She suggested I check out a few more options...and there it was!! One of the most comfortable sofas i had ever sat on. The manager David was extremely helpful AND patient since he had already written up the order for the first sofa that I had called about before meeting my sister to look at my selection. I now have to wait possible 15 weeks...but I believe it will be worth the wait!

Quality Furniture Store!I would absolutely recommend shopping for furniture at this store! Browsing the store is pleasing, and have many choices to pick from. Staff is extremely friendly - both in-store and the delivery staff. In my case, I worked with Kelly, whom was extremely friendly, and was very accommodating and welcoming. We have an inconvenience in which the sofas picked did not fit into the home the first time. The delivery staff was understanding, and patient, and Kelly was very helpful in helping us pick something else that would work for us. Great experience, and great quality furniture for reasonable prices.

We had a great experience with Danielle at Powells. My husband and I were looking for a family room set and recliner with the right mix of texture, comfort, durability, and ease of cleaning. Danielle was not only very knowledgeable about every piece in the store, but she went above and beyond to help me pick out beautiful fabrics. She spent the ENTIRE afternoon helping us but was not overbearing. She gave us space when we needed to talk but was there to answer any and all questions (ie, NOT a pushy salesperson......very much appreciated!). We were extremely happy with the service and friendliness of the entire staff, the selection, and prices of our purchases. I have no doubt that we will be back to Powells for future furniture needs!

My husband and I bought our first home and decided we needed a fresh start in regard to furniture. We were hesitant with such a large purchase, but Powell’s eased those worries and really delivered a huge bang for our buck. Affordable, yet quality is not sacrificed. We visited during their Memorial Day sale. Danielle Brandt greeted us as soon as we walked in and explained the entire layout of their HUGE floor rooms. Yes, ROOMS. She allowed us to roam and check out their offerings on our own, which I really appreciate. She came to check in with us every so often. She was there any time we had a question or found a piece we were interested (I don’t know how she always knew when we needed her!). We had our two toddlers with us and Mr. Powell himself helped ease the boys’ high energy levels by offering water bottles. He made us feel so welcomed and appreciated, even with our two high energy boys running around. We weren’t 100% sure on what kind of sectional we were looking for, but Danielle nailed it and showed us exactly what we needed. I am currently typing this review sitting very comfortably on said couch. The gentlemen who delivered and set up all the furniture were so pleasant and efficient. We are Powell’s customers for life! We tell all our Richmond friends and family to make the trip up to Powell’s as the quality of furniture and their customer is beyond A-1!!! I could go on and on raving about his wonderful locally owned business.

Went to Powells Furniture on August 21, not looking to purchase but to shop around a little bit more after finding a sofa & love seat at another location. Met with Kelly who pointed us in the right direction and let us know that she wasnt going to hound us, but would be available if we needed assistance. Needless to say, we purchase sofa & love seat which will be delivered on Thursday! Kelly was very knowledgeable and friendly. Powells Furniture had a very large selection and the prices were reasonable. There was also a dining room table there that will be in our house in the near future.

I have nothing but great things to say about this company. My husband and I went and looked at getting a new living room set on Saturday. Jerry was very helpful and knowledgeable. And the set we liked was in stock! Jerry put us on delivery for that following Thursday and we got a text that morning stating they would be there between 12 and 2. Well sure enough they showed up at 12 and the delivery guys were great and made sure they were placed correctly and everything was working before they left. Highly recommend Powells!

Horrible Customer Service. Ive been online searching for a sleeper chair that will fit in my apartment in New York City. Most of the sleeper chair in NYC are too wide. I was super excited to find a sleeper chair on this website that would fit my apartment as I am transitioning to living on my own after a trauma that occurred in my apartment. However, the person on the phone refused to assist me because I did not live in the area. I explained to her that I would be willing to arrange the delivery. I asked her, if my money was not good enough? Her reply was your wasting your time no one from our customer service team will assist you, they will tell you the same thing I just said. I am super disappointed.

My wife and I went to Powell’s this passed weekends to buy furniture for our new home. We were greeted promptly by Vince. We explained what we were there for and Vince gave us the space we wanted to shop around without hovering over us, but always close enough to answer any questions we had.I was in dad mode looking at recliners. Vince asked what features I wanted, style, etc while keeping in a certain budget. He took me to a recliner that was well under budget but had everything I wanted.He made the process a breeze and we can’t wait to get our furniture delivered. We will definitely be back.

I would highly recommend her!When I first visited the store, I had my toddler with me. Kelly was very kind and friendly and even thought to point out where I could find a changing table in case I needed to change my toddlers diaper. She clearly knew what a mom needs while furniture shopping which I really valued.Throughout our entire experience choosing furniture, Kelly managed to strike the perfect balance of making sure we had all the help and information we needed while still giving us the space to shop without the traditional pushy salesperson tactics we found at other businesses. I felt very informed yet not at all pressured, which is exactly what I search for in a salesperson.Ultimately, we are thrilled to have found a sectional that will be perfect for our new home! He immediately took us on a tour of the store which was much larger than it looks from the road. We were looking for living room furniture that we wouldn’t have to wait months to receive. They took extra care to ensure that the furniture was taken care of even though it was raining they got it in the house without a drop on the new furniture. My husband and I were shopping for a power reclining sofa and loveseat. We had been to four other furniture stores, not finding quality furniture. This may be lengthy so I apologize in advance. I have been searching for American made white leather recliner sofa. I was told by friends and family to go to Powells. Knowing exactly what I wanted I went to the web site and saw I could text the store my questions. David (GM) answered my text. I asked him to send photos of the white leather recliners so I could tell if that was what I was looking for. He told me there were too many to photo that I would just need to come in. His response to me meant I was not important to him. He could not take the time to send me a few pictures.I drove the 2 hours to the store with my mother over the weekend. My only two comments while entering the store were 1. We are not buying the first thing we see and 2. I do NOT want to work with David.Then we met Lloyd!! He was FABULOUS!! The very first sofa he took me too I fell in LOVE. Bought it! Powells Furniture had beautiful selections and quality brands. I would highly recommend Powells and Lloyd. I am glad I did not let Davids unwillingness to help me deter me from coming to Powells . I believe in excellent customer service and I never except less than 100%. Our first time visiting and a very large and friendly staff. There wasnt any pressure to buy, and let us wonder on our own. Plus, meant items on sale helped. However, the prices werent without the sale prices were reasonable for the quality.

We always love the selection at Powells and the customer service is top notch. Danielle was wonderful to work with and kept in contact with us until our furniture was finally delivered. Due to the coronavirus, part of our order was very delayed, but we were kept up to date on the status weekly. I love how the store is full service and they leave nothing for the customer to worry about. One of our chairs arrived with a spot on it and they immediately called it in and had someone out to fix the issue very quickly. Very hard to find this kind of service in furniture stores nowadays.

End of April came and never received any update. Called multiple times, left a message and never heard back until finally, I refused to be transferred to a voice mail and demanded to speak to a supervisor/manager. At that point I was debating to cancel the order already but after speaking with the supervisor/manager, we were assured that the furniture has shipped out and should arrive by end of June. Now we are almost at the end of the month and still no update so I decided to call to check the status and now being told that it will come in in August!!!

We wanted a corner couch that was comfortable and family friendly. Found it at Powell’s. Beverly Cherry was helpful and gave us the tour of the store and helped us find what we wanted. Ordering from her was a nice experience. She wanted to make sure that the date she gave us was correct so she contacted us later for the information. I saw on the reviews of others being frustrated about furniture taking longer to deliver, and I just can’t help but say that good things take time to make and deliver. It was worth the sit for our couch. Good place to shop and nice people. We will come back.

Recently purchased a power-lift chair from Powell’s due to having heart bypass procedure. We purchased a protection plan which was pitched as a cover all for anything that happens to the chair. It’s not! Once we got the chair home found it had a ripped seam (floor model) they came out and addressed that issue right away by sowing the seam. After my heart surgery the chair worked great for about 3-4 weeks at which time it stopped returning to the full upright position. I immediately called and was told by the customer service people that it would be 2-3 weeks before they could come. I told them I recently had heart surgery and needed the chair to sleep in and asked if I could continue to do so. I was told I could. When the technician came he said the chair was unrepairable, it had came off the locking rails while I was asleep somehow, damaged the mechanism and cut the electric cable for the remote. The protection plan refused to cover and the store manager did nothing but offer to sell a new chair at 20%. I now have a useless $1200 pile of junk sitting in my living room! In no way shape or form should the chair have had this kind of issue after one month of use. Poor quality product and power customer service from both the store and the protection plan company.

We went in over Memorial Weekend to purchase a living room set and Vince U. was our salesman and he was very helpful with coordinating colors for our custom purchase. We also bought a recliner there last year, Vince was our salesman then also, and we have always had great service.

We were helped by Danielle, who was AMAZING. When meeting my wife at this store,, Danielle first, helped me find her. The store is the size of two football fields. And then she seemed to know exactly when to check back with us. We did not feel hounded, or pressured. We were given our space to walk around to see if anything caught our eye. And when she checked back it was very What can I do for you. She explained everything very clearly and made the whole experience very comfortable and enjoyable. We left with sweet new couch for our new house! Thank you Danielle!

Since we walked into the store, Representative Danielle received us, was very courteous, she assisted us in a professional manner to select the Items we were looking for, and making our final decision, she made the buying experience smooth and friendly to us.

Powell’s Furniture is fantastic. I wish we didn’t waste our time at any of the other places we went to and just went here first. We were greeted in a friendly manner, not attacked by sales people. We were asked about our price range and what we were looking for. Our sales woman brought us to our options and didn’t try to up-sale us. We even talked about looking into a new coffee table and she recommended waiting on it because we have a baby and mentioned square corners and the baby walking. ( they didn’t have rounded corner ones) That made us feel very good that she wasn’t trying to just make sale and genuinely cared. The delivery guys were friendly, fast and on time! We will be going here for all of our future furniture needs.Thank you guys for being so authentic!

Terrific first experience at Powells. The showroom is inviting, well organized, with carefully curated examples of all they have to offer. Beverly was fantastic - she really knows the merchandise and we loved working with her. She was both professional and friendly and it was just a great experience overall. Not only will we be back, but we know well be buying again. Five stars.

Great experience purchasing a sofa from Powell’s! Kelly was very helpful in the showroom and helped us find exactly what we were looking for. She went the extra mile to let us know what was in stock and what would likely have to be ordered from our first encounter. Great experience with the delivery team as well, they were right on time and efficient! Will definitely go to Powell’s for all future furniture needs.

I recently purchased furniture from Powell’s and couldn’t be happier with the service and the furniture - even with the situation that the pandemic created for furniture manufacturers and retailers. From Vince Usman’s friendly and knowledgeable advice to Reggie and Leonard’s delivery, everything in my dealings with Powell’s has been great. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer!

The sales rep was nice and I LOVED that we weren’t followed around and pressured while we shopped. However, the store was supposed to be having a huge sale and I’m doubting it. We bought a chair that was $1200. That was supposedly 50% off the “regular” price, PLUS an extra 10% off—so, 60% off altogether. That means the “original” price of the chair would’ve been about $2650.00. I can’t imagine anyone would pay $2650 for one chair, nor have I seen any chairs in my shopping that are that expensive—it’s just a motorized recliner—it doesn’t do “extra” things. The ad for the sale said recliners “starting at $299”, but I saw NONE NEAR that price—and we looked at all of them!Despite the price frustration, we bought the chair. I asked if it would be taken off the floor since we’d purchased it (it was the last one). The rep told me no—not until Monday because they didn’t have warehouse help over the weekend. I said okay, but wasn’t happy that the chair would be on display and used for TWO more days, after we’d paid for it. Later, as I thought about it, I also wondered why we weren’t given a little more off the cost, since they were giving us the floor display item. We PAID IN FULL for the chair (no financing—which helps the store up front), so I also think this could’ve even considered in the whole thing.Having said all this—we’ve purchased from Powell’s in the distant past and been very happy with them.

Bait and Switch!!!!!! Went to Powells looking for the advertised Reclining Sofa and Matching Loveseat. The sales person brought me to another set which was double the price. When I asked her about the advertised Reclining Sofa and Matching Love Seat, I was told that is was junk and it was manual. She also told me that the set I wanted was not on the showroom floor.

Such a positive experience shopping at Powells Furniture! From the minute we walked into the store, we were welcomed by a friendly smile and given the opportunity to look around. When we had questions (which were a lot!) Danielle was able to answer them and provide expert advice, opinions, samples, and support. We had no clue there were so many options and choices and were so happy that we went to Powells. We even met Mr. Powell who is so friendly and kind! Would absolutely recommend.

Obviously furniture shopping in COVID times is challenging with the shortage of supplies and delayed shipping. But this store was able to turn my experience around. I must have visited at least 10 other shops and visited a plethora of online shops. The service provided by Lloyd was exceptional. He was able to problem-solve given the uniqueness of the space I was trying to furnish. He was super kind and very much a southern gentleman. His professionalism is a rare find in this day and age. Thanks, Lloyd! We’ll be back!

Last weekend I went to shop for a new kitchen table at this store. Jerry greeted me with a smile and helped direct me to a few options in the showroom. I loved various tables and ended up buying one the next day! Jerry made the experience easy and smooth, and we were able to get our table the following week. The delivery guys, Jerry and Mak, were also very friendly and put together the table within minutes. Overall I had a great experience and will be returning soon for a bedroom set. Thank you Powell’s for taking the time to help! I recommend this store to any of my friends or family.

Powells came highly recommended to us by friends. We werent sure about driving 1.5 hours to look at furniture but I am so, so glad we did. I was shocked that we werent bombarded by sales people when we walked in the door. We worked with Danielle Ripoll. Her personality clicked with ours quickly. She gave us the space to walk around and look at everything. The store is huge. We quickly realized a lot of the furniture was our style. We came for a couch and ended up getting more furniture than we expected. When we got home and realized the sofa was a little too long for our wall, Danielle worked quickly to come up with a solution. This is definitely our new furniture store.

Our family went out today in search of new living room furniture. Our first stop wasn’t Powell’s but it should have been. We were greeted and helped to find something that was perfect for us, where as at our first stop we were ignored. I highly recommend coming here and we will be back again I can promise.

I have been looking at a sleigh bed in Powell’s for a while but decided to do some comparison shopping. Nothing was comparable so I returned to Powell’s. I worked with Danielle R. She was extremely knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and was open and honest about current delays. She is very spunky and personable and I enjoyed working with her. I am excited to get my sleigh bed. I always get great quality furniture from Powell’s.

I had a great experience at Powells Furniture. My sister and brother in law have been raving about them for months now. So, I finally bit the bullet and made the 1 1/2 hour drive out and to my surprise I was NOT disappointed. I loved how you can customize almost everything, completely built my own reclining sofa the way I wanted it. The staff was excellent and not over barring at all.. I was well taken care of by Jerry, Ryan and Mr. Powell himself. Great place for sure, hands down!

What a wonderful store!!!! Our daughters family visited your store on Saturday, and purchased lining room furniture. We waited to see how they liked your store prior to also making the driving from southern maryland. We made the drive on Monday, and were also amazed at your selection. We purchased new living room furniture as well. Kelly Lipkin greeted us upon arriving and we really like that your sales people didnt hover over us while shopping. Kelly always showed up at the proper time and answered any questions we had. We couldnt have lucked out any better than to have had Kelly as our salesperson. I went in today to purchase furniture for my new home. I had previously came to Powell’s and was assisted by Danielle. I didn’t purchase previously but knew I’d be back. I came today looking specifically for Danielle. She is absolutely fabulous! Her expertise and knowledge are superb. She is very professional and goes above and beyond. Alex is awesome hands down. We only deal with him and he makes the process as painless as possible. Even working with us to get extra measurements to make sure it would fit the room (it was tight). Handled everything over the phone/email/online and super fast to respond to all questions.

My husband and I bought a love seat, couch and ottoman back in August 2020. It hasnt been a year yet and our stuff is breaking. The love seat and couch have reclining seats, they all broke. They sent out someone to fix them and he did. Today, I moved the ottoman so I can vacuum my rug. One of the wheels broke off while I was pushing it. The love seat and couch are not comfortable at all. When the couches broke, we asked if we could exchange for something else because we really dont like these couches. Best they could do is fix them. Im extremely disappointed of the quality of our furniture. Not coming here again.
