Worst customer service i have ever had. Dont even bother calling. You will NEVER get through. And dont bother getting glasses from them unless you want to wait 1-2 months without your glasses. Better off taking your prescription elsewhere. Worst experience with an eye doctors ive ever had.

Friendly staff. I felt like the Doctor really listened to my concerns about my prescription and contact fittings. She made adjustments that have worked out great for me. The office has taken necessary precautions towards COVID-19 to maintain a safe office. I feel like I can safely go here.

My experience was fantastic - I had an exceptional eye exam with Dr. Broderick and the outstanding staff. Everyone is friendly and outgoing. It was a bit awkward at first with having to wait for my exam outside due to COVID but I felt safe with the protocols. They take your temperature before you enter the office. Once I was checked in, the technician did the preliminary testing and Dr. Broderick examined my eyes and found I have cataracts. She also detected an issue with my right eye that was a result of Shingles from several years ago. She and her staff contacted her connections at Eye Medical Group in Portland and provided details of my condition. I was seen immediately and they were able to remedy the issues with my right eye and I am being treated for cataracts in the very near future! Im thrilled! I will continue with Maine Optometry and Dr. Broderick for my eye care and will bring family and friends. Love this Freeport office! :-)

Terrible service - if your elderly and disable and its 26 degrees out they will make you walk back out in the cold even when they dont have anyone in the waiting room and they blame it on covid. Go to a real eye doctor that cares about you. They made me feel ashamed of myself because I could not walk. I will NEVER go here agian.

Really, really horrible care for my poor nine year old son. I asked to please talk with the doctor about the awful treatment of him and she never returned the call, which is such a disappointment considering she lives here in our town. Hard to see your own child not get the care they need.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! While I love my eye doctor, the incompetent staff has made it impossible to bear going to this office anymore. I have arrived to learn that my appointment was cancelled and rescheduled, arrived to my rescheduled appointment to learn I was given the wrong time, and was nearly turned away a second time. I ordered new contacts, which I was told would arrive by the end of the week, but when the week had come and gone I hadnt heard a thing. To get any answers or results you need to call at least 3 times, and the extension number listed in the phone menu is incorrect. I am very empathetic to the difficulties of customer service, and I also understand COVID-19 has created a ton of more difficulties, but this is just ridiculous. Even before the pandemic, customer service was lacking, and these last few recent interactions have been the final straw. While I am sad to leave my doctor at Maine Optometry, I cannot deal with the staff another time, my hair is falling out and I cannot see, because I am still waiting on my contacts.

This is the most disorganized Eye Health Practice I have ever had the displeasure of working with. My wife visited Dr. Michelle Broderick for a normal annual eye exam, which is covered by our medical insurance. Partway through the exam, Dr. Broderick announced that she did not have time to dilate her eyes and finish the exam, and asked her to return a few days later. That was unusual and inconvenient, but was just the start of the troubles. We eventually received a bill for ~$300 from the practice, because they used the incorrect codes when submitting the claim to insurance and they charged $100 for a second visit. After many phone calls to my insurance company and the practice, they finally coded the insurance claim correctly, but they are still trying to get their $100 for the second visit, which only happened because they do not have an organized schedule. to top it off, I have called their billing department more than 10 times about this, and they never answer the phone or return calls. I would NOT recommend this practice.

A very broken practice. I was referred to Dr Broderick by my GP when I asked for a smart reputable eye doctor in the area. Dr Broderick is indeed wonderful, but she is swamped in a system of bloat and incompetence in the office staff.Over $425 for an annual eye exam, which took two visits instead of one because they wouldnt dilate my pupils in my first visit.Like another reviewer experienced, I wasnt able to have my eyes dilated in the same visit (which has never been a problem ever before in the past with any of the 4 eye doctors Ive seen in my adult life), and that second office visit was a large part of the additional $150 on the bill, because I had a second exam on that second date.Further, a young unprofessional medical receptionist was rude to me when I came in 2 weeks later to get the dilation, suggesting that my account was unpaid, with such accusation in her voice that I was looking for additional medical services when I hadnt paid for the first one. I told her, no, that first appointment was only a couple of weeks ago and I hadnt seen the bill yet, and of course I would be paying. She highlighted the balance due on her paper and said again that patients are expected to pay when they have medical care. And another character in the office - the salesman optician they have who would not stop trying to push transition lenses on me, the new transition lenses when I told him again and again that I was not interested at all in transition lenses. His hard sell technique was over the top. After many back and forths and me giving him some chance to tell me about the new transition lens technology (although he didnt have a sample of a lens to demonstrate to me!) I told him thanks for your time, but as I suspect, I am really not interested in transition lenses they are not for me. He wrote out the cost of my new lenses (in my existing frames that I am happy with) at around $900 and said with the special one time limited deal with transition lenses, I could end up with two brand new frames, one pair transition lenses and the other pair could be regular clear or sunglass, and it came to something like $1300, and I was making a bad decision if I went with just the lenses. That person has a future at a used car lot or selling knives door to door. I cant believe I was so chased and bullied in a healthcare office setting. There must be 20 employees who work for the practice judging from the completely full parking lot that doesnt leave more than one or two spaces for patients who come for their visit. Only the eye doctor and her optometry assistant are direct patient caregivers. They are both excellent. A woman in billing is excellent. A woman at checkout is excellent. Besides that, this place needs a big shakeup.I feel sorry for the poor doctor, who worked so hard for her medical studies and seems to be a standup, smart, professional caregiver. She is surrounded by a horrible mess of overhead and incompetence. If you can afford almost $2 grand for your annual eye exam and pair of glasses and dont mind being harassed in the process, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I really hope to warn people away from this place until they can have a really strong rework of their issues.

I will never again go to Maine Optometry. The doctor was fine. He seemed to do a good job and I liked him. The problem came when they made me a pair of glasses. The first pair was made wrong, the lenses werent set right so they had to make me another pair. No problem, everyone makes mistakes. The second pair came and they were fine except that they charged me for both pairs, the pair they messed up and the pair they got right. I pointed out that this did not seem right but they insisted. I tried everything I could to explain how this couldnt be a reputable way to do business but they would not hear me. In order to avoid having my bill sent to a collections agency I gave in and paid for both pairs. The didnt even give me the pair they messed up. So I paid an extra $267 for nothing. An expensive lesson.

Im not one for annoying bloggers talking smack about businesses unless theres a real reason to. Unfortunately this is one of those times. Let me be clear, Ive gone to the Gorham and Standish offices multiple times and have had stellar results. Even my first time in Freeport wasnt an unpleasant experience, it was actually fairly great. While I was there for my check up, I was asked if I had any real concerns with my vision. I did mention that I had floaters that were now prevalent because I work in front of a computer with a white screen 90% of the day. I mentioned I may have had them before, but Ive always had physical labor jobs and I never really noticed them until now.I was then asked if I would like to have a dilation done to make sure if everything was healthy as floaters are common, but can also be a sign of more severe health issues. I was then told that it was included with my yearly check up covered by insurance with my $20.00 copay. Was told I didnt have to, but it was recommended just to be sure. I said why not? Ive had dilations done before and they have always been included in my insurance, its just another trip to have it done, might as well. So I finished my appointment and booked the follow up dilation for a few weeks later.Fast forward a week or so later. I went to pick up my contacts swinging through town as I got a notification that they had been delivered. I ended up spending over 10 minutes waiting as they searched for my contacts. Eventually after about 15 minutes they found them and then proceeded to almost charge me the full amount even though my insurance covered it. I wrote it off as a simple mishandling and mistake, no biggie, Im easy going. Then I go back for my dilation a week or two later. I get there 5-10 minutes before my scheduled appointment and end up waiting 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be seen. Again, fairly laid back person, Im fine with it. Just a good thing I didnt have any other plans that day.I end up having my dilation and confirming, yes, I have floaters (as if I couldnt see those) BUT my eyes were healthy and there was no issues there (thank god!). I leave and head on my way after spending close to an hour and a half in the office and go about my business.About a month goes by and I receive a letter in the mail from Maine Optometry. I open it up thinking its probably some kind of receipt confirming my visit or something of that nature. NOPE. Its a bill of $280.00 for my dilation that I was told was included in my eye exam.I give a call to get some more info about this as Im thinking it must be a mistake. I find out that it was billed as a medical issue and therefore it wouldnt be covered by my vision insurance. I ask why it was billed as a separate item vs being included in my exam billing. I was told that I had mentioned floaters and it was a health issue. I then asked if it was because if I had to come back for a second visit instead of doing it all in one day and I was told that dilations almost never happen the same day as the exam unless you have or are prone to diabetes. I continually asked why I was being billed for something that I was told was included in my exam and I was told there was more done than just the dilation and essentially was told You could have been billed more, but because of a mistake or the doctors choice of being nice and not including it, youre paying this lesser amount for something you were told was included.Needless to say, this is a very, very bad way of doing business. Seems like their business practice is telling you that you can have services done and theyre covered by your insurance and then theyll find a way to change the way they bill it to your insurance so they can take your hard earned money.Do not come here unless you like being screwed out of your money. Please go somewhere that cares about its patients and dont try to gouge you. Im going to be switching my eye care provider to someone as soon as possible.
