Rude employees who look like they all came from some punk rock band. The heavy female manager with the colorful hair, beware she dont like people approaching her. If your looking for something, look for it yourself, dedicate a good few hours to find what you need, BUT! Beware! Do not ask for help. Its scary how they get angry and frustrated at you like you just ruined their high.
I don’t have a Half Price Books in my area, so I drive from Fresno to the Fremont store just to shop! They usually have great stuff at great prices. If you’re looking for media or want to sell your media, I recommend Half Price Books!
Everyone is friendly and environment is welcoming but do not sell your old books or textbooks here. I sold two textbooks here that were worth at least 30 dollars each used and they ended up giving me 17.25 for both. Complete waste of time just go donate your books or use bookscouter to sell online to companies that will actually give you your books value.
Always love coming here. You dont get much for your books if youre selling, but everyone who works here has been super friendly and helpful, and the prices and selection are phenomenal.
Half price books is a great stop for those who still enjoy reading of any age and lots of different genres. I love stopping by to see what I can find. They organize based on subject/genre making it was easier to narrow down by interest. Most books are also severely discounted to help save some money. They also buy back books!!! This is a great way for me to fund my book habit. Recycling those back that I have already read and getting some money to buy something new. Definitely stop by!!!
This is a wonderful book store. I couldnt say enough about it. It has great prices and great selections. Worth stopping by if you are in the area!!
Good selection some of there prices seam high compared to other sources
Great place for used CDs and vinyls. Reasonable prices and good selection.
Theres nothing bad I can say about this place. They buy back your old books and they sell you new or used books at really good prices. They even have things that are beyond just books like games and cards and all sorts of stuff. The staff is always more than friendly and always ready to help in fact they love helping. I highly recommend going here!
Very organized place with many interesting finds! Got 3 books the first time I visited at a very affordable price
We love checking this place out for books, classic movies and taste video games. Theyre awesome
Oh my goodness! Went in looking for some music, but I did not expect the selection they have. Impressive!!! I had to stop myself from getting more than I planned to buy. I haven’t even scratched the surface of the shop yet. Can’t wait to go back and explore when we have more time to peruse! Shout out to the friendly staff!
One of the rare bookstores still standing! Cute bookstore to take your kids to or enjoy on your own. They sell new and used books across many genres, and even sell second-hand video tapes and CDs for those that still have VCRs and CD players. They will also buy books, CDs and video tapes in reasonable condition, if you are looking to give away these items.
They have a great section for kids gifts
It’s great to have a bookstore in Fremont and the Tri-City area. Diverse selection of products in different genres & interests.
Ive called about 4 weeks ago to have a book from the Citrus Heights HPB store transferred here and they havent called back. They have forgotten about my request. I was able to receive an order quicker from a seller on eBay. They are also low ballers when buying from customers. No wonder their stock is limited when customers are trying to look for something specific.
Always find something worth picking up here.
Good collection for early readers and kids dont forget to check clearance
They have good collection of books. I usually go there since my 5 yr old is a voracious reader and loves to have a book per week. To cut down the expense, we tried this store and to my surprise they have used and new- all books. I dont mind using used books since they are well kept and in great condition. $2 can get great story books, $5 to $10 can get encyclopedias and novels and most of them. A must visit if you are a book lover.
Always a fun hunt for everything they have. Had a great time with my niece and nephew!
This is a wonderful local bookstore. Huge selection of so many awesome books. Plus, there is a small number of used board games, including some that may be out of print. I highly recommend visiting just to browse.
Staff is very friendly and the layout makes it easy to find books to purchase.Prices they pay for your books are in my opinion very reasonable.
A remarkable selection of literary treasures awaits you here. Staff are friendly and very willing to help -- but also know to stay out of your way and allow you to explore & browse their selection. There is plenty of reading to offer on any particular topic that suits your interests. Come browse for an hour or two. Bring a coffee.
This is an endangered business. I m glad they still operate after the pandemic. Be aware that some item is more expensive than amazon.
Has not changed in over 10 years. Good deals especially if youre looking for board games and used books.
Love this store. More than just used books. Great variety.
Boy did they have a lot of books. Older books but still very good used books, and they also had records and CDs used but in very good shape. Nice place to visit if you need records CDs or books check it out.
A good place to get rid of old books, and pick up new ones
Good selections for a good price
Like this book store. Great selection of new and old books, CDs and Records. Well staffed with friendly, and knowledgable people. Had a great time just walking around looking at all the books. Also have a good selection of Role Playing books, Board Games and Video Games... to much to see in one visit... We will definitely be back.
Amazing selection and the price was reasonable.
Nice bookstore. The staff is nice too.
A great st store for books cds and DVDs, cashiers are always friendly and helpful, if you dont find what your looking for you can have them do a search in other stores and either send it to you or pick up at store nearest you
Easy to lose a lot of time exploring any interest
Great place for book lovers. They always have a sale or a discounted price for most of the popular writers. You can always find a gift for someone here. Highly recommended.
Half price books is my favorite book store! Ive been shopping for books with the store for years. They have a great selection and great prices! The staff are always helpful and friendly. Love love love this book store!
Great place to sell your used books and albums.
Loved the books and the prices. Also the norms that are followed are great. Loved visiting this bookstore.
I love that you can find college textbooks. Great for old folks like me that want to learn something in detail as a nighttime read.As theyll also buy your old books, its great for the reuse part of reduce-reuse-recycle.
Great store and collection
Well - To Manga Book Collectors ~~~~ this is THE BEST PLACE you can get to look & buy Manga series physically in the Tri-city Area !! i have over 150 volumes n most of mine from here with HALF the original price !! Sometimes from Clearance with $10 for 10... i couldnt find all 10 but like i paid $2 each for 3 volumes of the Shinobi Life Romance Manga series !! What a great buy!! They have some Attack on Titan volumes too which are about $5.99 each !! LUV ITTTT
I went in to see if they were interested in some of my old books. The store is clean, well stocked and well marked regarding covid guidelines and I was greeted immediately by a friendly employee. I had two boxes of books for her to look over so I had time to wander around the store. It is really a blast to the past for me with a lot of vinyl from back in the 70s as well as single 45s. The book selection and DVD selection is quite extensive too. If you live nearby and are looking for some books, LPs etc., at a good price, I would recommend that you check them out. PS. I didnt get much for my books but its nice to know that someone may enjoy them - they took about 50% of what I brought in.
Always clean and organized and staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their stock.
Nice book store with friendly staff
The best used book store. I hope itll never go out of business.
Good selection for good prices.
Great collection of books and surprisingly, childrens books. The prices were very reasonable too
Lots of books low prices friendly service they really enforce the mask rule no mask no entry. They also have records, movies, comic books I like the place, they need more computer or tech books
Amazing place to go by yourself, with your spouse or with your kids ! Love this place
This place...has EVERY BOOK IMAGINABLE.
So many book selections, same with the vinyls, CDs and cassettes.
Social distancing parameters well marked, aisles generally clear so no crowding, staff very friendly and courteous, and efficient.
Prices are high - thriftbooks.com is way better. I tried to sell some books, but they would not accept and no proper reason was given.
Amazing selection with great prices compared to other places
A really nice selection of mysteries and kids books.
Great quality books for way less. Some books have a little scribble here and there but way worth the cost.
Best place to buy used and unique books, worst place to sell back your books though. Offered 11 dollars for ten brand new books that hadnt even been read.
I go here so often. I love it some much and the books are always a good price. it is the first place i go when im looking for a book.
I found the book I wanted online for half price compared to their price.
Well stocked. Great variety. New and used.
I brought 1 box of books yesterday and was given 4.12. retail for the books were over 200.00. i was advised the books would not sell fast enough for them and they needed books to sell fast in order to bring back employees. i came from Sunnyvale and it was not worth my time or gas for 4.12. i know they will make 200 - 300 dollars for the books and paid me about 4-5 cents a book that will sell over time. plus some dvds. i was given some flack that i could always take the books back. so i was paid 4-5 cents a book. that the store will charge 4.00 for. i think donating to Goodwill or the library would be better and we would not waste our time. they have no respect for their customers and steal from them when they pay so low for books. i would have felt better if they were able to pay 25.00 for the lot. i understand that they have to make a profit. but i think ill donate my books next time and saving my time and gas
The best place in Fremont to find used DVDs, CDs, video games, books, comics, and more. 💿📀📼🕹️🎮📕📓
Great staff, the selection is very good, just a bit overpriced. I bought two items.
Could shop around this store for hours
Glad it is finally open. Love this store. Always have what I need. If they dont, they csn usually get it. 👍👍👍👍👍
If you love book stores this one will not let you down. This was my first time visit to this bookstore and I was wowed. The store is huge and well stocked with books, music CDs, vinyl Records, games, comic books, calendars, video games, toys, etc..... there was so much to look at. Everything is well organized and clean. It has an awesome vibe and there were plenty of friendly employees to help you out.
We love our HPBs, its our pastime place. We usually go to the Dublin location, which has good books and theyre clean and organized. This Fremont location is even better. The book selections are better (i.e. eclectic subjects and more specialized science and engineering books) and many of their books are in really great condition. Many of their kid series books have never been opened or untatterred.
I took one box of books and one box DVD and CD to the store. I have been waited for almost one hour. They told me because these items cannot be resold, they could not accept them. After I came back to home, I have found one valuable book was missing which is $16 on Amazon. I called the store and told them this issue. They were not friendly at all.
Good selection, but definitely a flea market kind of approach to book shopping. You never know what you will find or not find as the case may be. They do also have DVDs, vinyl records, games etc. So not just a bookstore. If youre in the mood for browsing for physical books to purchase, which is a rarity these days, this is as good a place as I need to go to.
Great second hand bookstore. Lots of good technical books and a good selection of second hand vinyl records. Half price bookstore is really not a fitting name. Love this place.
Funny enough I found some rare gems that I wasnt expecting so thanks for that.
One of my favorite bookstores simply because service is always great, prices are fantastic, they have a lot of variety in books, games, and music. Great place to get a good deal. I’ve sold books here and sure maybe you can get more somewhere, but it’s really convenient.
A great place to get not only books BUT also CDs & LPs!! If you want to go to a store front for great buys, I highly recommend!! Very courteous staff also!!
Same as always although I did get charged for the same book twice. I enjoy going through their gifts for adults and children. Was able to get some toys and such for the grands. Always nice and organized and clean
Woth all the other books stores closing down its nice go have a quaint place to go and just browse. I love how the books are arranged by categories that a totally make sense. For instance the cooking section features cookbooks by diet and by ailment. Its so easy to find what youre looking for. Everyone in there is so dang friendly too!
Best buy back value Ive seen given the convenience. Expect to spend some time waiting as they sort through everything, but Ive made hundreds selling my old books that were gathering dust. Hope they find a good home!
Always great customer service
Its great just to have a bookstore where you can browse at leisure. Half Price Books has a wide selection of used and new books, calendars, CDs, DVDs and a host of other things. I have gotten some really nice childrens books and cookbooks there that I wouldnt have known about. They also buy books from you but note that text books get a better price. The location in Berkeley is pretty good too.
Wow, what highway robbery when one tries to sell books to them. In my case, about 15 books in fair to very good condition, some hard cover and rare, the offer- $4.80. This was a place where I used to spend hours and would buy some books so long as it was a decent price and condition. No more. They offer cents and resell at high dollar value no matter the condition. It is American corporate rip-off passing off as agents of literacy, but more about making profits off the good intentions of loyal customers as well as nostalgia. They continue returning and taking their meager offers for boxes and this is the problem. This is my first time doing this as Ive always donated countless books to the public library and certainly will continue doing so. The irony of it all is that if I would have had an offer above $10 I would have spent it on specific books I was eyeing at the store. Their loss in so many ways! For sure, the BBB will hear about this, although the amount of online complaints is staggering. Im pretty sure that store closures are in the future for this meager chain.
Ive sold books here and bought books here for about 3 years. Both experiences have been great! Their prices are very reasonable and they are always friendly here. Ask about when their sales are. These are the times when I love to shop.
Selection was surprisingly deep for a smaller storefront, but this branch really should be named 80% Price Books, and theyll offer as little as possible for any trade-ins you have. Its also pretty obvious that they get their pricing values from Amazon, and charge the same price youd pay for used entertainment from there or eBay. Made me miss the stores up in Seattle. Went twice, dont think Ill go again.
Half price Hell if youve worked here. Half price Heaven if youre a customer and catch a good sale.TIP: ALWAYS ask if there will be sale or promo coming up before you buy. Save your money! Some promotions can be around 20% off and with text books and taxes thats adds up. You can hold books up to 3 days. Just saying.
Great book store with great prices. They have a large discount section where you can find books and movies for $1 - $3. You can also pick up new books here as well. They have a decent selection of vinyl records if you enjoy listening to music old school, and a section full of video and board games. The staff has always been friendly and willing to assist with anything you are looking for. Finally, if you have books, movies, or games that are just gathering dust, you can take them in and sell them here.
Like the place.. lots of books on diverse subjects available. I did not find mine but other than that the place has a good collection that was nearly catalogued and marked. Wish they had one in Santa Clara area.
Not a great selection of books written by Black authors and about Black people.
Great place! Been following them since they were at the Auto Mall location. Have bought and sold countless books there over the years. Great selection and awesome employees.
Their books are over priced, but when buying your books, even great ones, they only give you pennies.
Very nice book store. They buy back your books - which is great! They will recycle any of your books that they are not able to buy back. The store is very well organized and clean. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, help you find books that you are looking for. This store sells a variety of books ranging from reference books, foreign language books, childrens books, etc. They also sell DVDs and CDs. Most of the items I saw were priced fairly and were in very good to like new condition. Plan on spending here minimum an hour if you like books! I will be coming here again.
I have bought my books here for years and they never cease to amaze me! Excellent prices and rare collectible books and items. Not to mention a clearance section that readily provides great finds.
Awesome store with thousand of titles in all genres and medium. They have some pretty crazy finds like hard to find Nintendo Gameboy units, some obscure titles you would not find anywhere else. Their record collection is awesome as well. Really impressed with customer service. Located on a strip mall that has seen better days.
It is not the largest book store, but they have various kinds of books and 80% of them are cheap. They sell bookmarks, posters and a lot of best selling books, audio CDs and some movies as well. They buy books and old e-readers and Nintendo games and even consoles if you go sell them. Cool place to check out!
Always A Pleasure to go and see their Selection of Items. Great Staff & Always Very Helpful. LOVE this Store.
Love all the variety of books and the prices
This is last of the few brick and mortar books store left in Fremont, book lovers should visit. You can get good books with great discounts. The store is very well organized. You can also sell your old books here. They have a place where childrens can go and read books.
