Walking in to Addison Homebrew is like walking into Cheers, everybody knows your name. It used to be just the owner, Eric, running the show but now business is doing so well that he has hired on a few staff members and opened the days of operation to Mon-Sat! I am so happy for Eric that his business is thriving; he deserves it, what a great guy! I also love supporting locally and privately owned businesses. They pass off a great deal to their customers. Buy all of your beer bottling supplies and carboys here; he has the best prices I can find anywhere! He also has a soft spot for making mead and has great prices on honey.Although I really have not participated, I appreciate the online community they have created on their message boards. They host classes and brew tastings at the store from time to time too.Addison Homebrew is a one stop shop for the majority of your homebrew supplies. I am always impressed with the variety of bulk grains they have. My one and only complaint…they do not stock leaf hops, only pellets. I prefer to use leaf hops for at least dry hopping and often times finish hops if I have enough around to spare. Eric says he does not have the space for it...I think he could make the space if he wanted to. I do have to do some of my brew supply shopping online because of this, but it’s not a huge inconvenience for me…I would rather be giving all my brew money to Eric though!

Started homebrewing with this shop and still is my go to. From the beginning Eric was helpful and always answered my newbie questions. Cant go wrong, he has everything you need and is always willing to talk beer or answer questions!

Poor Customer service.i went to this location on a Friday around 11:10am and at around 11:20am i see a guy pull up with the store shirt on, cool the guy is opening up shop nope guess he was an employee not the owner. I had to wait until 11:55am for the owner to show up and open up. Guess he does not trust his employees enough to owner the store. So anyways i walk in expecting a regular shop, nope it looked like a storage unit with shelves so i walk around and checked out the prices they had and seemed to be higher than other brewing supply locations. I then started to ask the owner a few questions about brewing and instead he gave me vague answers he was busy in his computer instead of talking to a customer then he just kept saying to buy the beginners home-brewers kit not much help in answering questions at all. He might know alot about brewing but when it comes to sales and customer service he failed totally. In the end his attitude and lack of customer service made me walk out without buying anything. My first impression place has enough supplies but to pricey, second owners attitude toward customer service was terrible and being on the computer while i was talking to YOU was a total lack of disregard and respect. This was my first and last time i walked in there.A place i would recommend that are better and have everything you can possibly need is beermore in riverside.

Read the poor reviews but I wouldnt rely on them. AHP is a great place to spend your beer, mead, and wine dollars. Eric Addison is knowledgeable and very helpful and he employs the same sort of people.Eric stocks a large selection of grain, hops, and yeast. In the future, I hope he carries more whole hops. The prices are competitive. If you want a 1/4lb pound of Crystal 120 you dont have to buy a 1lb pre-pack bag. You grab a scoop and weigh out 1/4lb. Exactly how much you want.He stocks much of the hardware you might need; caps to kettles and bunches of stuff in between. As for the poor reviews: If you were a butcher and someone came in to your store and said whats the best cut of meat? what would your response be? I cant imagine what my response would have been to the reviewer who said whats the best kit?.A better question might be I really dont care for dark beer but I think I like IPAs. Can you recommend a kit?

Im very surprised about the few experiences with bad customer service at AHP. Whenever Ive come in the shop, whether I know exactly what Im picking up or I have a list of stupid questions, Ive always been treated with respect and very fairly. Eric is an expert and treats all his customers with care. Very fair prices and they have everything you need to start homebrewing at home like a pro! Also, its the only homebrew supply store in North OC as far as I know. Unfortunately I moved away from the area so I no longer stop in the store, but when I lived nearby I always looked forward to my visits. They hold brewing demos on Saturdays from time to time (scheduled? I can never remember but I get the emails) which unfortunately Ive not had the chance to attend. Great place to buy supplies.Cheers!!!
