Customer service sucks . Drone guy always answers the phone and is rude plus no other knowledge of rc cars or planes. I would recommend Nakin Hobby . They have always been helpful and knowledgeable about the products. Excel has just lost 3 Customer myself and 2 of my friends. You need to get rid of the drone guy . Never again will I visit this store. Every one that has a good review is a white red neck they have help because I believe they dont like to help anyone else that is of color. They always have the stuff I need. The guys there will take the time to explain and show you how to do controls. Cars trucks and airplanes, drones arent the only thing the sell.

I needed an arm for an old quad, and instead of just telling me they didnt have one, they searched through old stock and found several, saving me days of waiting and allowing me to try again today. Awesome

Fred solved my problems with my Redcat Gen7 Pro, and I am pleased that I will be getting a new chassis to put on. Dont bother calling for anything DJI.Edit to 3 stars because even though DJI pulled support(and thats beyond their control), the person on the phone didnt have to be so curt about it, and their site/phone prompts both say DJI repair...

So I order three tamiya spray can from here, and all three had a little amount of paint in the can. Then one of the colours wasn’t the colour I order.

OverpricedBought a Kyosho Mini-Z Crawler RTR Jimmy set for $250 today. The retail price is only $199. Staff is extremely knowledgeable. Prices compare to online shopping. You may have to speak up and ask for help... They clearly had a lot of window shoppers but once you let them know you have a question or youre interested in making a purchase they are very helpful. There is a small indoor place where you can practice flying your smaller drones.

Very underwhelming experience with this place, albeit at the recommendation of another hobbyist. Initially I called and spoke with the Madison Heights location, looking to have some LiPo batteries soldered with different connectors. Over the phone, the Madison Heights location advised this Garden City location does the soldering, had the connectors, and could assist me. Having recommendation and assurance over the phone, I took a 45-minute drive to this location. I arrive, they had one guy who could solder, and they were too busy to get to the batteries in the 20-30 minutes I spent standing around. To be fair, they did offer the option to pick up later in the day, but I do not live in the area. I also needed a part for a Traxxas shock, which they recommended the Nankin down the road for Traxxas parts. Ironically enough, another employee here recommended the Madison Heights location for the soldering, which was closer to me - my initial call. I opted to leave with my batteries and Nankin took care of me down the road.

Good customer service. They helped my husband with his DJI Drone. the parts were very inexpensive... the labor charges is what threw me! $12 part and $125 for labor, overall they helped I guess that what counts.

So far I am happy with the place. The staff seemed to be knowledgeable. They helped me a lot. This is a new hobby for me. With a learning curve for me and my daughters. I did buy x3 $20 small drones (and a few other things) to play in the house. And to start practicing before getting a bigger and more advanced one ;-). The only downside is, I tried to register on the website (from my mobile). But I cant log in. I click on forgot password (although Im sure I used the right pw) and email but never got the recovery link. 🤷🏼‍♂️. Also tried to log on to their portal but it said Im not allowed. But that could be only because I havent finished set up my account 🤔. But otherwise Im very happy. Will sort those problems out when I go to Westland again. Hopefully it will be soon....Drones are a good addiction 😎😂😎. Happy with Excel Drones and their staff 👍

Best drone store there is becasue its the only one in Michigan! Pretty much they have any part or accessories you need for what ever Race, freestyle, photography, and even the micros. Very knowledgeable staff when it comes to FPV. I was starting the FPV with only knowledge of youtube, when it came to building it they had every part and several options to buy and each had personal experience with it all. And if your into the Tiny Whoop stuff they have every accessory there along with a course to fly sometimes! (the whoop i have picture was all bought from excel rc and nothing is stock)

Sold me a quadcopter. Gave me one with the wrong tx. I noticed before even leaving the store, then proceeded to tell me I would have to pay a 30% fee on the $200 to get them to exchange it for the right one. Terrible customer service absolutely would not recommend. (Unless you want to spend your money and then get charged an extra fee to get the product you asked for in the first place, after selling you the wrong one)

I went into the store and bought a charging device on 7/24/20.I tried to return it that following Monday 7/27/20 to find out that their hours had changed and that they are now closed on Mondays.I then drove back out to the store on Wednesday 7/29/20 to do my return with receipt for an item I used all of one(1) day. I was told that (by who I can only assume was the manager): oh no, you bought that about 2 weeks ago-i even remember when I sold it to you.I show the receipt show the purchase date whereupon I am then told: oh, it dont matter you used it and i cant sell it as new so you cant return it or get a store credit. I am a small store with only 5 employees so I cant be expected to do returns.People, be careful about shopping at this store, if you have any problems with their merchandise it is your problem alone once you walk out that door.If I could give this place less than one (1) star I would.I will be satisfying all my droning needs via Amazon or dji directly in the future.#buyerbeware

Both times Ive come in for help, the same guy has helped me, and both times he was incredibly patient and helpful. He was great at making suggestions and giving advice to me as Im new to the hobby, but even went the extra mile when advice about a different RC project I was working on. The selection is surprisingly excellent, and the prices are pretty darn competitive. Best of all, you dont have to wait for shipping! Its a fantastic store and Ill definitely be back!

Prices are pretty much on par with what you can buy over the web, so why wait for delivery from china when you can get it now? An excellent stock of everything.The staff are absolutely great, friendly and helpful. A lot of them fly, themselves, so you are going to get great recommendations if you arent sure what you want, or where you want to go with your flying.

Stopped by to get help with an issue I was having with my radio and got expert help! Not only did they f oh x my issue but showed me step by step how he did it! Great place and I will be returning to buy all my drone parts from these guys!

Ive bought from these guys 2 times so far. First time was great, but second time I had an issue... I wanted to return some motors I had ordered accidentally (their website has a buy now button for different items on the same page as an item they were out of stock...).Anyway, I tried to contact them via their webpage form, and their helpdesk several times, and no response, over a period of 3 weeks... Im sure my $40 is gone for now. Could be worse.Their shipping is fast, and I got the item that I had ordered (unknowingly). But their customer service is nonexistant, and now Im stuck with motors I have no use for... oh well... If you buy from these guys, keep this in mind.

Didnt have enough money from there entire day in the register to return the items they sold me. None of the items I got from them were able to bind and when asked for help was told we should hang it on a wall because its a wall decoration even though we had bought that drone there less than a week agothey also told us we would have to leave the store or they would call the garden City Police because we didnt come in to spend $1,000 that day we just needed them to do a $20 drop offsoff and came in fifteen minutes before close. IhI to drive back three different times for them to return all of the money and were called multiple names in the process. The employees were rude, standoffish, and arrogant. I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy.

I stopped here looking for a replacement part for a drone which they did not have. But they did have an excellent selection of drones ranging and prices from $150 all the way up to 25,000 or more depending upon cameras and other attachments that well fit various drones. The staff was very helpful answer my questions talk a bit. If I was to get seriously into drones I would probably frequent this business a lot more often. Theyre very knowledgeable about their products and its a pretty friendly atmosphere.

Great stuff for quads and drones- obviously. They have a lot of inventory which is rare nowadays. They also compete with the prices of the online stores too. Very happy to have Excel here. Good job guys.

I used these guys to repair my Inspire II. Very competent, fair, and friendly. I drove 400 miles round trip from Cincinnati and would do it again. Actually, I dont think I would trust anyone but these guys. They know their stuff.

I walked in and approached the first gentleman I saw behind the counter. I explained my needs and he immediately went straight to the $1000 drone, or should I say he pointed across the room at the drone. To much for me! Then he suggested a $600 model again pointing to the said drone. He never stood up and he tried to lead me to believe that entry level is at six bills. I was looking to spend well under two hundred. Everything else is a toy is what he said. I left without a word. I had done my research and what I need is around a hundred bucks. I just need it short term. If it works out, then Ill go big. I was looking for a professional opinion to reinforce my choices. It appears to be a well stocked establishment with classes and training. Its in the neighborhood for me too.

Been to this location three or four times since just before Christmas time. Plenty of selection and things in stock, they also do repairs as well. Guys working in there are great, have dealt with Dennis (I think thats his name) on most occasions. Hes always helpful, polite and patient when answering questions. Definitely will be frequenting this store in the future.

This place is the best place in Michigan for Drones! Dennis and Jeff are super knowledgeable when it comes to drones. I came in with a custom quad I had been working on for a couple of years and with frustration never could finish it. I was told to go to Excel Drones. They were able to fix my quad quickly and at a very good cost. Excel Drones got me back in the air! I would highly recommend them!

I cant believe that Dennis guy still works here. He literally laughs at you like youre dumb if you ask a question he knows the answer to. Luckily for me he cant help me, so I can avoid him like the plague. Jeff is the best thing in that store, ask for him if you need help. I would spend more time and money here if Dennis wasnt around.

I had some issues with a repaired quad with the company and thought they took me for a ride, but after talking to the owner of this company we were able to resolve the problems I had with repairs and some of his employees. I do hope he takes extra steps to insure this problem does not happen to another customer. If you do have issues with anybody at this company talk to the owner directly, he is very fair and understanding.

First time in the store I was like a kid in a candy store Jeff is the best he was so cool nice and professional I dont know the black gentlemans name but he was super smooth and cool I bought two batteries came in next day and now Im having a new quad build I have no problem spending money in Excel I love them just wish I had info on training classes cause I just recently got into this hobby

Cool place to grab some fpv drone stuff. Not a lot of the latest fpv gear but they got all the propellers and tons of little replacements. Prices are pretty much the same as buying online.

All depends on who helps you, but if you get the right person, it’s great! They carry an awesome selection of FPV stuff and almost everything DJI offers. It’s great having this place around. It’s definitely been worth the drive down there for me.

Bought a used drone from them worked for a day and then stopped working...started smelling like smoke. I went in and they said they couldn’t help me... all sales are final on all used items sign wasn’t around the used items...read the fine print because they will screw you! I purchased 3 other drones from them too. The customer service sucks

I have gone to the store 2 times now it is a hour away from my home but the trip is worth it they specialize in multimotors/ drones .the staff is great and take the time to answer all your questions.and even let me try out a small quad in store to compare battery life to a unit I had already.i spoke with the owner the first time I went and he wants to have the best products like batterys motors props etc that hold up and meet specs that customers want .I will definitely be returning to the store when I get my large Ariel photography drone.

Everything I asked about that they had models on the floor for was discontinued super frustrating walking into a store that displays cool products your not able to buy.

Unlike the big box stores or Amazon, these people know the stuff they sell and are quite helpful. They also dont seem afraid to say when they dont know something.

Poor experience turned into good follow up.--- Initial Experience ---Poor communication. I ordered a part that would fix a grounded drone I use for business. 20 days later Im back at square 1. I ordered the part online, my credit card was charged immediately, and I received an automated order confirmation but nothing further. Asked for status update after 8 days and heard nothing. Asked again at 20 days and finally received a response. They indicated that they had initiated a refund that morning... another missed opportunity to communicate status to me.--- Update ---Excel Drones followed up with me and I do get the feeling that this was a rare error by Excel Drones exacerbated by a mixup by DJI. The person I spoke to seemed to take a great deal of time researching the root cause of the problem and adjusting to help prevent it from happening again. I will give them another shot in the future.
