Great atmosphere, good vibes and great drinks ! Came here with the girls for a little outing and loved every piece of it ! Also shout out to one of the girls working there who took multiple pictures of my friends and I and got different angles and asked if we liked the pics she took ! I will definitely be going back again. I like the relaxed vibes this place gives unlike downtown bars give ! Thank you guys for a good experience!
Great atmosphere! It was full and lively, yet I could have a significant conversation without being overheard or feeling like other people were too loud.Fantastic layout, roll-up doors on both the East and West sides gave nice air flow. And there is a heated patio. The beer of course was tasty and nice. With an addition of adult blended drinks and coffee, there is something for everyone!
Oof. It was miserable hot inside when we went. Zero air circulation. I didn’t try their slushes but I heard they’re pretty good. Tiki juice drinks were really good. Definitely recommend them. We sat outside & it was definitely more bearable than sitting inside. Inside had an odd smell, in my opinion. Eh.
Western Collective is a phenomenal establishment. I’ve been to this location multiple times and the staff is always so kind and accommodating. Huge shoutout to the managers as well as the bar tenders (including Jake). We just had a fantastic experience with all of them as well as a few other staff members. Their truffle fries are TO DIE for and their drinks are on point. Not to mention, they have skee-ball! You can’t go wrong with this place. Food, drinks, arcade games, and incredible staff. Five stars. Without question.
What a cool brewery. Plenty of options and the staff is fun and professional. I’ve had the beer before but this last 106 degree day I was sipping on frozen drinks and they were great. A lot of fun to be had on the back patio, games, live music and friendly people.
This place is flat out rad! We had the slushie sampler, like most people did on the hot day it was. All of them were prime. Decor and atmosphere was laid back and really fun! Grabbed a 4 pack to go as well!
Cool place in a location of a previous well known brewery in Boise. They have high hopes of setting new standards for beer quality in the Boise area. The Western Collective serves their own beer made on site as well as Guns and Oil beer (a lager focused brewery originally out of Texas) which is also made at the same location now. They are very new as of this review (6 weeks new) and have released 3 of their own beers with many more in the works. It sounds like they are very interested in telling a story with each beer and being very local with ingredients and community.
Jake the Bartender is a boss. Bar manager is to die for.Cool spot, lots to do, tons of fun
A great place to grab a beer. Nice atmosphere and many brew options to choose from. My only issue is the whole kids and dogs thing always seems a bit risky. They say dogs must be on a leash but yet there is a dog that runs freely around the joint. Parking is very scarce near the actual building. And “Dickshooter” for a beer name seems a bit inappropriate when kids are allowed. Overall a good experience though. Will be returning.
Great drinks menu! No hard alcohol. They have yummy slushy drinks! You can take your dog there. Staff were great! The Lime and a Coconut food truck is parked out front and the food is really good!
Great beer and slushies! Cool place to hang out too!
The nitro lakeside stout is most excellent. Must have if you like dark beer.
Awesome beers and great staff. Loved the crux colab....... Fun space
Cute little brewery! The esthetic and theme is fun.Lots of seating on picnic tables outdoors or even fun western style seating indoors. On top of this fun brewery, they have slushies! They dont mess around! The watermelon slushie was on point. So good! Looked like there was a coffee stand as well for mornings/afternoons. Merch for sale as well.Definitely a great place for large groups or just you and your partner. Thanks for the fun experience!
Uniquely Boise. Neat vibe. Good brew and slushees. Ben was great.
I love the vibe and the drinks but the staff is less than friendly. Everytime Ive gone in they seem super annoyed to take your order or arent there at all and take forever.
Really cool and fun casual vibe. Great micro brew choices. Pet friendly.
As you can see, this place is super hip. Totally cool if youre into that vibe, but what really matters is the beer. 20+ taps, cider from Meriwether, Weenie Wagon in the back, dogs welcome. Great great place to have a beer and a weenie if you like. Highly recommend the California Reject Hefewizen and the Watermelon-Mint Idahoo. Get over here and have a beer!
Love the atmosphere and the drinks and food! Open patio and also indoor seating available! Bring your whole family and the pup! Definitely good place to be!
Great atmosphere with delicious beers. They had an awesome hazy line when we stopped in. Good service with a helpful staff to take care of needs and questions 🤙
Great beer, wonderful staff. Would definitely recommend!
LOVE the beers, and BOO!!! to Pikachu Skreet for being greedy and petty! Western Collective is better without the homage, which I would have found flattering!
Ordered a green beer for st Patricks day only to find out they had run out. They did give me a regular beer on the house, Which was cool of them. then I asked for a caramel apple slushy and was told it would be out in 3 mins. 20 mins later a different server came by our table and asked if we needed anything and I told him I was still waiting on my slush. He brought it out promptly but with no caramel and he never came back to the table except to bring our tabs, by then I was finished drinking my apple slush. Sucks because everyone else at my table got good service except me.
Marissa made us feel like family!
Been wanting to go here forever, we finally did and we are so glad! Our drinks were delicious, the outside area is perfect and overall just a great atmosphere! The customer service was absolutely amazing! Our server was the sweetest. They have a really nice gift shop too. Can’t wait to go back!
Western Collective is a hip brewery tucked away in Garden City. They have some great beers and my current favorite in the Boise area is at Western (Extra Juice - a great Hazy IPA). Inside they have comfy couches and bar seating. They have picnic seating outside and just put in a place to serve on the patio with 24 tap handles. Sundays during the nice weather they have a DJ and that attracts a very young crowd.Keith the head brewer is great to talk to and learn about their beers. Kerry and his wife Melissa are the brains behind what theyve done which really is amazing since they moved here from Austin about a year ago to open Western in the building that used to be Payette Brewing.
Im from out of state. My daughter and I stopped for some drinks, lovely atmosphere!
Great beer and cool hipster atmosphere. Wish there was better seating through and since its in a warehouse the layout and parking are confusing.
Good beer and they have great slushies for the non-beer drinker.
The slushies are delicious and there is a happy vibe to the place!
Really cool environment, dog friendly, and the Tiki Juice is delicious. Fun vibes in a growing community.
I was invited to dinner with a couple that is unsurpassed in kindness, acceptance, and generousity. Not to mention that their selection of the EDGE for a place Id feel comfortable in was excellent. Tried some samplers of their in-house beer selections, which made my homemade prison squaky seem repulsive in hindsight. Dinner was served as if we had a exclusive table side chef. Food was suburb, and in the normal course of beer drinking, I had to use the restroom. To my surprise, the restrooms were UNISEX. It was a first for me...but a good and welcomed experience.ALL THE WAY AROUND... this experience was FIVE STAR PLUS . . . Good place to bring the kids...the entire Klan.
Great drinks and atmosphere!
This is a great spot! Enjoy some incredible brews in a fun, unique atmosphere. Staff is super chill and very friendly.
Fun place! Great atmosphere.
Their new nitro Russian Imperial stout with all of its rich chocolatey / coffee overtones is out of this world delicious!!.I used to think that Deschutes Brewerys Abyss imperial stout was the best ever....BUT now there is a new reigning Czar of stouts...this is truly the nectar of the gods and all others are but pretenders to the throne!!
Fun environment good staff. Great drinks and fog friendly. No food when we went. You can order in though. They have food Thurs Fri Sat
Great People and Products!
Great beers and friendly staff. Very cozy and laid back. Love the way its decorated.
Great indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of space for distance. Definitely up on our list!
The new beers here are tremendously delicious. Shout-out to the new brewers! Cheers🍻
Just got some beer/Frose delivered TO MY FRONT DOOR! It was perfectly chilled and ready to drink. And not to mention - delicious! During a time of crisis, this is a definite perfect pick me up! Such nice people, too. Highly recommended!
Best seltzer
This used to be my favorite boise brewery, and one of my favorites of any of the 80 plus breweries Ive been to. However, lately they seem to have lost their vision. The two new beers, the All Signs Point West DIPA and the Hazy DIPA, are the first two new beers in some time. They are good IPAs, but not really distinguishable from the bajillion IPAs on the market. The price, at $8 for a 12oz pour of the hazy, is far too much. You can go to some breweries and get a whole growler of an equally good hazy for $8 or less. Im hoping to see some innovative beers like the Chaidaho they used to make. Also, the coffee hasnt been hot the last couple times. For example, a week or so ago, three of us ordered hot drinks and the hottest one was luke warm at best. Perhaps this is due to a new staff. Also, they are no longer doing taster due to COVID, which I understand because its less glassware to touch. However, perhaps you could at least provide a small plastic cup so people can figure out which beer they like before committing to a $6-8 pint. The atmosphere is still a cool place to hang out, and Im hopeful that the downtown location(s) will be equally as fun.
Theyre super nice and good coffee and beer.
Good beer, relaxed atmosphere
Nice place staff is friendly. Did a great job social distancing during covid, tables were placed far apart and had to wear a mask when you walked to your table.
My husband and I were impressed with the beer here and ambiance. They have a great selection of beers with witty names :) Our only thought for improvement would be to decrease the $15 tasting flight. Highly recommend trying this brewery though!!
This brewery had some good beer styles and true to form. The atmosphere is really good for a brewery and is nice and relaxing. Lots of open space connected to the brewery itself. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They are also dog friendly which some of the breweries are not. Recommended them for the micro brew fans.
Im at the high end of the age demographic, but the beer is VERY good!
Never got seated. I was told I had to wear a mask... that’s ok. The host(ess) told me, “I don’t make the rules, I’m just the enforcer”.... Meanwhile, I pointed out 3 of their 4 customers and their bartender weren’t wearing a mask. Way to go, “enforcer” you’re an asshat.
I was super excited to stop in at Western Collective until I asked the bartender if dogs on leashes were allowed and he said yes then I joked about infants and he said they werent allowed. I was stunned and it took me a minute to realize he wasnt joking. So people can come in with their animals but I need to get a babysitter to come grab a drink in the afternoon? I have never experienced this in Boise yet and was truly shocked at the rules they have.I am so happy that other breweries in town wouldnt even question being inclusive of families.
AKA Western Collaborative. We went to soft opening. Theyve made positive changes to the tasting room. They werent quite done yet with their improvements, but we can see where they are headed. They only had their flagship lager beer on tap, but more are to follow.Follow up visit Sept 2018: still friendly service. Tried the pale ale and hazy IPA both tasty. Noticed they charged a bit of a premium compared to other breweries.
People watching at its best
Great location and awesome atmosphere, ok beer.
Easily the best place to get a beer in boise. The brewery offers a great atmosphere, unlike any brewery I’ve ever been to. Great customer service and the bartenders really know a lot about their beers. They also have food trucks on the weekend and hot dogs all day. Will definitely be going back soon!
Ill start with the good stuff. Their beer is some of the best in Boise, but I suggest buying it somewhere else. Ive seen complaints that it isnt kid friendly which I dont mind. For those of us without kids, its nice to find some oasis that doesnt include screaming children. We used to love coming it was super relaxed and theres a large outdoor seating area. However, theyre now apparently angling for the college crowd. Theres a weird pool and they really do sell $10 frozen rose that is so sweet itll make your teeth hurt. But the most annoying thing is their decision to sell like four overpriced hotdogs and restrict outside food. Im sorry how does that constitute a meal? Theyll tell you its a health code violation but I cant find anything in the health code about bringing outside food.So seriously unless youre looking to hook up with twenty somethings, get their beer elsewhere and avoid the headache.
The Western Collective is for lack of better words: Fantastic. Was in town for a beer & marketing conference and found this gem packed right by our hotel. Owner, Carey, and staff, showed unrivaled hospitality, that will hands down have me visiting Boise again. The Western Collective checks all the boxes. Fantastic ambiance, the decor is two thumbs up, from the eclectic upholstered chairs and couches, to the giant American Flag. The beer, you can grab a Guns & Oil lager, or a Wild Bill (weizenbock), all the way up to a Gravity Check (Barley wine.) A wide range of styles for everybody. Im usually a hop head, but found myself straying from my norms. Not a beer drinker? Theyve got coffee as well!A huge thank you to all the staff!Cheers& Beers
Always love hanging out here!
Recently we hosted our Talloo event at Western Collective. Our group was close to 100 people and the folks at Western Collective were straight up awesome! They were friendly, fast and truly helped us have a great evening out. Well be back and were telling friends! A huge thank you to all of the staff!
This place has a Rainey St vibe.Seem like they tried to make it in Austin, but decided to move to Boise and just copy what bars on Rainey St. are doing.Beer is ....ok, but not as good as other places in Boise. With the competitive market for craft beer in Boise its lucky for them that nobody had introduced Boise to a Frosé, or the likely would have gone under in Boise too.Still its not a bad place to chill on a nice day on the patio, but it can get hot really quickly.
The bar and barstools are metal, which makes for a cold time during the winter. The bartenders are awesome when they’re waiting on you. If it gets busy, then expect a wait. The crowd of customers varies greatly. Which means you might run into some peeps that don’t wear deodorant like we did while we visited. The beer and food tasted great, but with the odd bar furnishings, it has a cold feeling like visiting a doctors office.
Incredible beer (the Picabo IPA is fantastic), great atmosphere, and incredible service.
New beers were excellent. Bartenders were attentive and suggested several beers I wouldnt have tried, but were quite good. Mostly IPAs on the menu, not my favorite, but a few good stouts, porters and others. Even sampled two IPAs that were good.
Let me start off by prefacing: Western Collective has great beer and coffee, and a fun atmosphere for the most part. Most breweries in the Treasure Valley are accommodating as far as their clientele goes. However, Western Collective has shifted their focus to the single/raunchy patrons who like to dance on picnic tables and blast expletive-laden music over the loud speakers (see their usual Instagram posts), and doesn’t want to do so with kids watching. While I can agree I don’t think that atmosphere meshes with young kids, why is it every brewery in town can accommodate both types of clientele except for Western Collective? To make a long, pathetic rant short; your kids are not welcome at Western Collective. Luckily there are plenty of fantastic options that somehow accommodate all walks of life with very little/no effort!
Great place the staff that works there have all been super nice and friendly. Cool low key atmosphere there!!
Stop wasting your time looking for a cool place to hang. Check out the Western Collective. Very good collection, see what I did, of beers AND coffee. Totally revamped space, dog friendly.
Ive been here about 7 or 8 times.Theyve really come a long way since the opening. They have new beers and a new taproom layout and its all very positive in terms of change.Just one down side; its kinda starting to stink like feet. I know brewing beer doesnt smell like roses or anything but still ...
Fantastic place and great beers. Very hip and has a vibe like the breweries in Bend which is a good thing. Not just a pretty spot, because the drinks are legit.
Cool place to hang out. The beer is good enough. Skip the hot dog.
Amazing beers. Great music and a ‘party’ atmosphere on the weekends. Great stop for brewery hopping.
Great atmosphere and great pour over!
Found it ironic That they put a No guns sign on the door but there flagship beer is Guns and oil. So does that mean I cannot drink any beers with gun names in this place? After going in to this place I know feel like it’s just a marketing strategy to name beers after guns because they know out here we loves our guns. I also tried there triple cash beer super infested with Diacetyl flavor I had a home brew batch ruined a few years ago by that flavor so know I can pick it up easily in beers. Atmosphere was nice Like the new Concept with the living room but the bar stools were horribly hard not comfortable at all and putting a blanket on a metal chair looks like a half an idea. Bartender was good I liked Hemingway shotgun but again why are they gun names maybe rename your flagship beer to No guns Just Oil be cool?
Delicious beer with new types coming! The owners are amazing people that care about impacting the community in positive ways. Go check out the great venue!
