Was in the area for work and stopped for a breakfast sandwich, the staff was very friendly and the place was very busy. The bagel was great and loved the vibe of the business. Would definitely recommend this place and will return in the future

Rude, incompetent staff. Dingy. Try Bagel House Lodi or Bagel Brunch Passaic for yummy food & actual service.

Garfield hot bagels used to be one of my favorite bagel spots in Garfield. Jen is hands down the best cook and never gets the order wrong. Unfortunately over the last year or so Garfield Hot bagels has fell off. With the exception of Jen, the cooks are extremely slow I could order my order 45 min in advance and when I get there it still wouldn’t be done, yet even made. The bacon usually isn’t cooked all the way. It’s a shame that a place that once was great is now a last resort for bagels. I would suggest Garfield hot bagels steps up their game because Midland Bagels is by far the best.

When you call and order 15 minutes ahead of time, Do youA get there and your order is readyB get there, wait online, watch 7 people get orders before you and leave, and your sandwich still isnt ready?IF YOU CHOSE B THEY ARE IS INCOMPIDENT AS ANYONE ELSE THESE DAYS YOU ARE CORRECT!!!!!

Really good food but their service is way too slow.I ordered two breakfast sandwiches on the phone and its never done on time. I often have to wait over 45 minutes from my phone call. Usually when I show up they start cooking it too, I can hear and see the chefs rushing. A big inconvenience if youre rushing.This happens every time.Nonetheless theyre a good bagel shop and have good food.

Before I even got my food I knew I would not be coming back here. There was a line when I got here but nothing crazy.. maybe 5 people and there’s 4 working behind the counter. Definitely manageable. I get to the counter, place my order, and as I am offering the money the lady snatched it out of my hand. Now it wasn’t an accident like she didn’t mean to and it just happened. She intentionally snatched it out of my hand and then wouldn’t hand me the change. She placed it on the counter... which ok fine not a big deal.. but it was intentionally out of my reach. With a few people in front of me I could see how she took and gave money to the other customers and it was not like that. This was my first time here and I was not rude or difficult when ordering.

If I could rate this place no stars I would! The service is horrible the cooks are terrible no one can follow directions or orders they tell you your food ready when its not and then yell at you for asking for it and then yell at you for standing there for because the food is taking too long to cook I would never recommend this place for even to feed your dog

A small place to grab a bagel, muffin, sandwich or coffee.Weve been looking for a good bagel spot in the area and this has been at the top of our list.The bagels have a terrific bite, with a nice crunch on the outside while soft and chewy inside.Sesame bagel was surprisingly sweet to us.Whole wheat everything was terrific.Large selections of spreads or other bagel toppings, includes cream cheeses, eggs, cheese, lox and more.Cash only.

The bagels are great but the service and the customer service is HORRIBLE!! They are lucky and should be grateful people continue to come here. Theres another bagel deli opening up near me in a few months and cant wait (on palisade ave, garfield).I am not joking, order your food with intentions to wait 45-50 minutes for a simple order of a plain bagel with cream cheese. Also this establishment is cash only but yet fail to have it posted anywhere and tell you only when your handing them your card. To then go into dunkin donuts and use theirs atm (another 5 mins) and extra fees. Go elsewhere unless you have nothing else to do with your morning.

The taylor ham egg & cheese here was REALLY good.I am knocking a star off because it is a Cash Only establishment, which is not a big deal but they have absolutely no type of sign anywhere (as admitted by the counter worker) that indicates this. Its 2020, if youre going to be cash-only you need to make sure that information is readily available beforehand. No ATM either. Luckily, Dunkin was open. The woman was also a bit rude about it when I suggested putting a sign and she basically shrugged it off.Overall, what I care about most with these types of places is the food and the food was bomb so yeah.

Good bagels but very cheap on cream cheese

Food is very good. Staff is very friendly, but the owner needs to clean the place up a bit. The counter is crumbling due to water damage and this place is starting to have a bad smell.

Walked in and there were a bunch of flies in the bagel area. The lady that was serving me had a big cut on the side of her head that was still bleeding. As she was in the middle of wrapping up my bagel I watched her wipe of her sweat and proceed to wrap my bagel without washing her hands.I have went several times during the summer and the owner has the girls working in the store with no AC as they sweat over the stove in the heat.Definitely needs the health department called.

Maybe their sandwiches n bagels are good but every time I order from this place my daughter goes in and she has to wait for over 30 min just to get bagel with cream cheese while I watch people that walk in behind her get serve and leave !!!! This is ridiculous it happens every single time we go time for new place

Delicious, fresh bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Wait is always long when I go in.. sometimes I stay, sometimes I dont. Its tight behind the counter and they only have 1 person on the griddle..so you can understand why it takes so long but its good every time.

This would be Five Stars but I had to deduct 1 star for the disorganization and chaos that ensues on the weekends tying to get a bagel and 1 star for the rudeness of some of the employees and including the owner. Just making friendly conversation I said it was a nice day out today and the owner replied yeah its a nice day for you to get your teeth fixed I was very shocked at the remarks a business owner would make to his customers

I Think this place has great bagels cant find a bagel store near here that can stand in comparison. I usually get the Taylor ham egg and cheese on plain or w.wheat pepper ketchup they are stack the eggs and Taylor ham.Not like in other places Ive been to that give you paper thin egg and a thin slice of something thats not Taylor ham.Come on in and get your own experience.

I dont usually leave comments but, I travel all around NY/NJ area for work. Ive been to a lot of delis in both places, including many in Manhattan. This place takes the cake for bagels. Their cream cheese is also very good. If youre in the area pay them a visit.

Its been a good year since this previous update, and Ive changed this back to 5 stars. The quality is back to being consistently good, and the staff always knows what I want. Cant find a better bagel shop for miles... Sept 29 2018 Second update in two weeks, down to 3 stars. If the owner cannot hire a baker that can correctly roll a bagel or counter help that cares enough not to put a poor product into my bag only to find a pathetic misshapen item when I get home, Im starting to look for a new bagel shop.... Update Sept 22 2018 update: dropped to 4 stars, last 3 times Ive been here, Ive had to wait at least 10 minutes while bagels were baking, the baskets were all empty at 10:30 on a Sunday. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Just awesome bagels, with small grill and deli. Efficient and friendly staff. Perfect no-frills spot for coffee newspaper and lunch or breakfast. And they have Taylor ham....👍

Waited 45 minutes for an egg and cheese bagel this morning, seems like one person is handling the orders. First and last time I will be come here, no excuse for the length of this wait, regardless of the fact that it is peak time on a Sunday. If I didn’t pay upfront, I would have left.

Food was good but workers were very rude. I asked for my bagel toasted and the lady told me that they were just made with a huge attitude and scoffed at me when I Insisted I still wanted my bagel toasted. Guy working the cash register wasn’t the most welcoming and on top of that gave me the wrong amount of change. Then when I got another order to go he gave me the wrong amount of change again. Fix the attitude guys you work in customer service.

Ive been going to Garfield bagels since I was 8 (Im 25 now) There is no better bagel place than here. They were my Sunday morning breakfast with my mom and brother and there was no excitement like waking up Sunday morning to hot bagels. As I grew up, Id go out of my way to get them before work sometimes, and now that I actually live in Garfield, I continue the tradition and get them on the weekends with my boyfriend.Its fairly crowded on the weekends and I suggest calling your order in and picking it up. Its also hectic and every employee is buzzing around, but they try really hard to get everyones order quickly. As someone who worked in a deli as crazy as that, I empathize - its really draining to work at that pace everyday. Ive seen customers get furious at the employees and storm out for the tiniest reasons. Every employee is super nice. This place is cash only, but the Dunkin 2 stores down has an ATM. The bagels are always hot, whatever butter they use is amazing. I wish I could eat more than one bagel, Id probably eat 10 if I could haha. Also, the parking lot can be dangerous sometimes, so keep an eye out when backing out of the parking spaces. I wish them all the success in the world.
