I don’t think I have ever had a bad experience here. Today I had the lunch special, chili dog. One might think this is pretty basic, however, in typical State Street fashion, they put an awesome extra touch. The hot dog was very tasty, what made it good was the made slices in it when it was cooked to help evenly cook it. They were not skimpy on the chili, serving chili on the bun and a small side of chili “just in case”. The bun was actually toasted, which was an awesome surprise. The fries were fresh. Nothing bad. The servers are excellent, they all welcome you. Great place!
We got here at 9:00am on a Sunday and had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated (they are very busy on weekends, so it would be best to visit on weekdays), but the staff worked very fast to get us a table! Our server was very nice and helped us feel comfortable. It was a long wait before we got the food - about an hour - but we were a party of seven people. However, the food justified the wait time! Everything was high-praise worthy and we especially enjoyed the Reuben Sandwich, and the Spinach and Mushroom with Cheese Omlette! The food was very savory and tasted fresh; we were especially amazed when the french fries and hashbrowns werent greasy, but still absolutely delicious! The only criticism was the coffee, which tasted watered down. That aside, we left absolutely satisfied with our breakfast! This would be an excellent pick for breakfast or brunch on the beautiful State Street!
Stopped here while driving through Geneva because it looked like I needed to eat here! Was certainly not disappointed. Service was timely and thorough. Basic diner breakfast was excellent. You can tell these folks are family and their customers seem to be part of it.

Drive 30 minutes to enjoy Fathers Day breakfast. Took 10 minutes to take our order. Still didn’t have our food after an hour of waiting. Other people who came in after us were served their food. Had to flag down someone to get more coffee. Waiting an hour for pancakes!!This place needs a lot of work. I would not recommend going there.
Great old school dinner, with well made traditional breakfast items. Unlike most other breakfast places the menu isn’t loaded with items covered in whipped cream and sugar. I’ve been going here for a couple of decades and the food is almost always perfect. Very best blueberry pancakes around. Same with the patty melt, and the stuff on their SECRET GRITS MENU (ask for your grits “animal style”).However, the place isn’t big. They move the tables quick and the staff hustles and is very attentive, but their capacity is limited and like every restaurant post pandemic they struggle to find help. So don’t be a fool and go on a day like Father’s Day expecting five star service.

We frequent a lot of local restaurants around town for brunch. And State Street has always been our go-to spot for consistent and delicious breakfast favorites. But today was another level.... I had the special, “Enfrijoladas”, and it was so mind blowingly spectacular that it inspired me to write this review. So go! Go see for yourself what your missing!!!! You will never be disappointed. But be patient, because they’re a popular favorite amongst all us locals.
Great food reasonable price
We just went to State Street Diner for breakfast. We had an awesome experience! The hostess was very friendly. Our waiter was prompt with our order and refills. The food was excellent! I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a family friendly place to eat. It provides great service and food.

This is the classic small town diner. I love how intimate it is. Everyone is super friendly and the food is delicious. I am amazed at how they use their space. Everything I’ve had has been delicious!!!
My husband and I go here almost every Saturday. The place is so cute, it has counter seating, booths and tables. The staff is so nice and accommodating and even when busy they are still so nice. My husband orders different breakfast, he usually gets the chili omelette and highly recommends it. I order the Country Benedict and its so delicious! I havent found anything as tasty anywhere.

Excellent Breakfast!!! This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! I had the Denver Omelette and it was so, so good! My husband had a breakfast sandwich (egg, sausage, cheese), not only was it great tasting, it was really big, much more than he could eat. The staff as super friendly as well! We will definitely be coming back!

Ive been going here since I was two, and the food is still incredible. Great staff, great coffee. Ive known this place since it was under the name Mels diner, and thats saying something. If youre not sure what to get, I suggest a half order of French toast with eggs and bacon. Cant go wrong.
Perfect old school diner. Like going back to the 60s. Corned beef has 2 eggs over easy home fries and sour dough toast. Perfect.

My boyfriend and I came for breakfast and the southwest skillet was phenomenal! also, they have two different hot sauces that I had never heard of but are absolutely delicious. We will DEFINITELY be back.
My friend recommended the State Street Diner and I am glad she did. They have a really large menu with lots of choices. The portions are very large and leftovers make another meal.
Very cute place. Kinda small, but they were very accommodating to our big party and made sure we were taken care of. The food was good and not overly pricey, like you find at other breakfast/brunch places. This is truly a hometown kinda restaurant, in all the best ways.

This is a cute little place in Geneva that serves a wide selection of breakfast items. Its pretty small, probably less than 10 tables inside and a few tables on the patio but I highly recommend it. Its the perfect combination of affordable prices and very tasty food. The smaller footprint creates a cozy atmosphere inside, however I prefer to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine on their patio while eating breakfast. Every time Ive been there I havent had to wait which is good. Driving by you might miss it because it looks like a house, but if youre looking for a good breakfast place then Id recommend you try this place.
Good breakfast at a good price. Great for parties of 2-4 but not much room for larger groups. Really good if you get there early in the morning. Pleasant staff. Small.parking lot but on street parking is available.

So tiny! But the employees (owners?) are great- so friendly and attentive and you can tell who the regulars are by how well theyre known :)Food is high quality diner fare; not amazing but worth the prices.
