Best Asian supermarket in the region. Fantastic live fish and shellfish, but be prepared to wait 30 minutes if you go when its busy. Vegetables generally very fresh but they do better on Asian vegetables than American. Much better prices than American supermarkets. But kinda hard to find stuff if you dont know your way around, not really anyone you can ask except the cashiers. I think the only place you may find a better Asian market is in Virginia.

I am LITERALLY looking at the website on Bing as I type this review. My son went there--25 miles each way--to buy some Chinese herbal pills this evening. According to Bing, THEY CLOSE AT 10 PM. I called earlier in the day to confirm that they had the capsules. They did. I commented that my son would be sure to arrive before 10 PM tonight. At NO TIME did anyone tell me that they close at 9. My son arrived at 9:02 PM--literally. He called me and told me that the store is closed. I called the store and an EXTREMELY unhelpful man answered who a) could not care less that my son wasted a 50 mile round trip b) my dog has a nose that is bleeding and he needs the capsules and c) that online listed the hours until 10 PM. When I asked if he was prepared to take a negative review due to his INCREDIBLE lack of desire to help and honor the posted hours, he told me he didnt care. I asked for his name so that I could ID him by name and he refused to tell me. I asked if he was refusing to give me his name and he said yes, that was correct--he was refusing to give it to me. I am posting this on Google, Yelp, the corporate page AND their FB page and, hell, I might even tweet about it, too. There is ZERO reason why this man could not have helped; he just wanted to be a jerk.

This is one of those places that tends to be hit or miss. If you want a large selection of cheaply priced produce and some asian goodies, this is your go to place. For the most part, you can find what you are looking for when you are here and even some things that you never thought existed. Its a good place if you are up for trying something new. The down sides come when you walk back to the meats and find that they are floating in trays of blood and the fish are swimming in tanks surrounded by dead friends. At times, the bread they sell from bread corner is also completely moldy. So you do have to be wary depending on when you want. Over all, the produce and prepackaged Asian goodies are the only real reason to go.

I could spend an entire day in this place and still feel like there was more to explore. Staff are very friendly and I found pretty much everything I was looking for. Thinking I will try the restaurant next. Very clean and organised.

This review is for the steam table eatery located behind the produce. The staff are extremely friendly and the food (for steam table eats) is absolutely delish, but be warned: it is very homestyle cooking and not the standard chinese restaurant fare. The Missus (bless er) and I have enjoyed a wide variety of items. The Kid adores the way that they prepare pork hock, so that should tell you something.Go for the shopping, stay for the food...

They have something other Asian Grocery store no longer have- Herbal Tea from Taiwan that help with inflammation and inflammation is how COVID-19 Virus kill.Four stars is because they have alot of food stuff from China and you really cannot trust producs from a country that make money off producing poisonous baby formula.Some of the made in China product may also be made by Muslim prisoners in Xinjiang Concentration Camp. Be discerning when you buy!

GW Supermarket is a rather large Asian grocery store. I was amazed how many wonderful ingredients you can find there that you cannot find anywhere else. I do a lot of cooking for my catering business, and this is my go to grocery store for Asian ingredients.

This place is great for vegans and vegetarians given the variety of fruit, veg, and clean proteins. They have tofu in all possible forms, tempeh, curry bases, and tons of frozen vegetables dumplings.

Wide variety of Asian food. Items are very reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly and there if you need assistance. Fresh seafood and meat. Fresh cooked items too.Definitely going back!

Of all the asian supermarkets in the DC area, this particular one in Germantown is the one I go to and I live in Calvert Co. They always have the largest and best variety of fruit and vegetables. I like the hot food section and always seem to buy sesame balls when I go. Their seafood and meat section are exception. Im always buying mackerel to smoke or rockfish to grill. But the main reason I seem to pick this over other asian supermarkets is its cleanliness. Good selection and a clean store. Cant beat it!!

My wife is from the Philippines... How do you not go the Great Wall? Interestingly, there is a Great Wall in Davao, where we own a home, and there is a Great Wall there with the same store layout, yet I am told its not the same ownership. Nonetheless, GW is a weekly visit for us.

The food is great, great customer service but the butcher shop is so DISRESPECTFUL! Couple of Spanish men were saying inappropriate things to me in Spanish. Acting like I liked to be told these thing. I quickly left the butcher shop area to go pay. But those men need to learn to keep their mouth shut and just focus on doing their job. No women should be harassed in that type of way. I just want to get my grocery shopping done in a peaceful manner... but the way these men acted is shameful and disrespect.Btw I was wearing jeans and long sleeve blouse....

The prices and selection of hard to find Asian products are pretty good. The germantown location is not a mob fest like Rockville. Most part prices are better than lotte or hmart. Only down side the customer service is down right rude. I saw a woman ask a grocer where is kale? He said no more when he was standing in front a big pile of what was marked as kale. Seafood guys close bags that not only leak but you have to destroy to open. Cashiers put up signs closed only to take them down as you pass. In a pandemic there are no wipes for the grocery cart. But despite that 3.99 for head on 20 30 shrimp is pretty damn good.

Great place! Cleaner/newer than Rockville. Supports GetUpside Cashback, only 3% and not 7% like Rockville. Also saw a mouse underneath aisle 1.

I like to shop there since its only a block away but they seem to be expensive than the other supermarkets in the area.Also I went there to buy a specific fruit to only find out that they dont carry it anymore *bummer*.SideNote: The cashier I had today was very talkative. Instead of focusing on the customers she was busy talking with her coworker and I had to call her attention so she can finish ringing up my grocery meanwhile a supervisor was standing there and not even saying a word.

As a grocery store serving Asian populations in the the greater Washington DC area, the GW-Supermarket does not disappoint. It is a full scale suppermarket offering a full range of grocery items. The store is pretty spacious and I could find all what I need. To my knowledge, there are multiple GW stores in DC area.

Would’ve given it a 3 AT LEAST! If you’re a women especially a young adult the male employees will stare you down as if they’ve never seen a girl before, it was so uncomfortable and unprofessional of them. I noticed one went into the back then 3 came out “to check” the meat aisle. (Yeah they all stared making it completely obvious they were talking about me) btw I was wearing shorts and a big t-shirt and STILL felt targeted. And no for the record they weren’t all Latino employees including the Asian employees passing by.

My friend (a minor) was followed around by a strange adult man who was taking videos of her. When she told Customer Service, they said they would go to the back and check security cameras, but it would take a while, and when she said she would wait, they went to the back and then came out within 2 minutes, saying that there was nothing that they could do. It was an incredibly upsetting encounter and I would hope that they would do more to protect the safety of their customers.

I will never step foot in this place ever again I brought collard greens from here when I got home to clean my greens they had mixed cabbage in the middle of my greens. I was heated took them back went to the customer service desk and they were rude as hell... Check Your Produce...

I mainly come here to buy produce. Prices are cheap, but quality and freshness varies depending on the type of produce and the week. The quality of veggies is more consistent (and also better) than the fruit. The service is average of an Asian supermarket. If youre one of those people who likes to compare prices of similar products on the shelves, be aware that the per unit price on the labels vary between gram, ounce, and pound (usually on the same shelf). I like 99 Ranch better.They never turn on the heat, so beware if shopping in winter. Also, they had a problem with the sprinklers in late January. When I arrived at the store, the sprinkler right in front of the entrance was leaking. About 5 minutes later, it started spewing water everywhere and the fire alarm went off. Luckily, no one was in the vicinity, only that sprinkler went off, and the big emergency exit doors were right there to let the water out. Still, it probably wouldnt have happened if they had turned on the heat regularly. It was freezing outside, so the water was turning into ice. There were two fire trucks when I left.

Very good selection of Asian products and oriental medicine. I got Korean Red Ginseng today, very exciting for me personally. I’m a regular customer, this GW is located in an awesome Asian shopping center that has a Bon chon Korean fried chicken and pho noodle soup restaurant. No galangal today:( But really convenient store, lots of ginseng here and good teas.

My go to for Chinese Veggie and fresh fish and seafood. Very reasonably prices. And Rice. They also have a hot food bar that serves the most amazing noodles in a north for pike $7 to $11? I think. Very delicious and the serving is a huge bowel, I believe the noodles are freshly made?

You should be careful and pay attention to the expiration dates. Otherwise the visit was very pleasant. The folks in the store were very nice and helpful.

Never have any issue. Many asian food options to select from. A bit pricey on certain items but b/c its MoCo. Their customer service should try to be more friendlier (interact with customer, say hello, thanks for shopping with us, etc), instead most of the employees have mugshot faces. Their cashier great tho, more open registers than Walmart for sure lol

If I could I would give this place zero stars. I will never buy anything from this establishment ever. Today I witness animal cruelty... they had turtles in a bin and they would take on by one and smash them against the cutting board to kill them. This was horrible!!! Plain cruel. Do not support this establishment, do not support animal cruelty.They didnt care about my complaint at all.
