This place has so much potential! Deli offerings are 5/5 every time. Bakery, not so much. The bread is always fresh and so are the sandwich ingredients. Donuts and bagels are baked everyday, cakes and cookies arent. Steer clear of anything sweet and youll be alright. For breakfast, buy the bagel and make the rest yourself- trust me. Cant go wrong with the sandwiches tho!

I lived in the NY/NJ area for 6 years before returning to MD. One thing I missed was a GOOD breakfast sandwich like how I was used to them being made in NY/NJ.I ordered a BEC on cin raisin w/ caramel latte. The bagel was FRESH and TASTY! Beverage was delicious, not overly sweet. Only downside was use of imitation egg vs. real eggs, and from a place advertised as “NY Style”! I’ve never had imitation egg on a breakfast sandwich from any NY/NJ deli or bodega.

One of my favorite bakeries in town! Their apple fritter is the best! A hint of cinnamon, good balance of crispy apple and dough really make it delicious. Pastries like choco cigar and almond horn are also very good! Good collection of pastries, bagels, donuts, cookies, and cakes.

Had the Wednesday special meatball sub came with a side $10. Sub was huge and delicious. Some other sandwiches seemed expensive $12+

Favorite weekend breakfast place. The staff is so kind. The bagel sandwiches are the best. Quick and efficient service. Outside seating. They did a great job keeping it a safe place to visit during the height of Covid madness.

This is one of the best bakeries in Germantown. I first found out about this place because my work place used to have bagel Fridays and the bagels came from this bakery. In the very first time I fell in love with the jalepeno bagel and the spicy cream cheese. Its been one of my only favourite pickup breakfast option in Germantown ever since. This place opens up as early as 6 in the morning and have all their bagels nice and fresh which makes it all the more better. It have a lot of other options like donuts, sandwiches, sweet rolls made of chocolate/strawberry. Also a few pastry options.

After taking several bites, I noticed something discolored inside my apple turnover. The pastry was full of mold.

Awesome place! I’ve been going here since I was young, and I’ve always really enjoyed it! My favorite thing to get is easily sausage, egg & cheese on an everything bagel. They also have really good pastries and sweets. The lines can get really long, but typically the line moves quickly because the staff works efficiently. The staff are also very friendly which is nice. I’d suggest taking your food to go from here because the seating tends to be limited during a breakfast rush.

Delicious local bakery! Im so happy I found this place. The lattes are quite good; not too sweet, not too bitter, just the perfect amount of creaminess. My favorite items Ive tried so far are the strawberry shortcake and the toasted everything bagel with cream cheese. The selection of baked goods is tantalizingly on display.

Best bagels and doughnuts on the planet and more. Make up your mind before they ask for your order because its a little busy. They like cash. The original owners sold it but the current owner kept the traditions alive. Pastries are decadent.

I can’t believe this restaurant is still in business. If a health inspector were to visit, it would be shut down immediately. None of the staff are enforcing the 6 feet rule. There were too many people standing right next to each other. The staff do not properly wear their masks FULLY covering the nose, they’re only covering the tip of the nose allowing air to bypass the filtering ability of the mask, if you can call what they wear masks. I saw one person wearing gloves and the rest were handling food without gloves. This is not safe. There is no hand sanitizer in sight. Staff are not sanitizing before and after each customer. Not safe. Even if they are all vaccinated, they are still passing on the virus through the air and indirect contact. Did I mention there’s no air purification? They pay absolutely no mind to the protocols Dr. Fauci has explained in great detail. This is not how we flatten the curve.

Absolutely the best spot in Germantown for bagels and pastries. Highly recommend the Apple fritters (and honestly everything else).

We went to Royal Bagel today for a sandwich at 3:45, ordered our sandwiches got two drinks and sit down in a booth next to another couple eating, and as soon as were handed our sandwiches and go to sit down the guy behind the counter says in a snide tone just so you know we close at 4. Implying that we shouldnt bother sitting back down and should leave-even though it was not yet 4 pm and there were still other people eating. So we obliged and sat outside. I got midway through my sandwich and it was soaked through in juice-the center of the sandwich was hot but the bread remained untoasted leaving the juice from the tomatoes and oil from the cheese to seep through the bread very quickly). Not sure well return-the guy was really rude and the food was subpar, we really dont enjoy eating at places that are not consistently high quality with positive service.Original review:Gorgeous selection of baked goods. Turnovers, bagels, cookies, etc. We got 2 huge specialty subs, a large pastry and 3 bottled drinks for under $25. We could only eat half the sandwich and the high-quality bread stayed fresh for 1-2 days. Well be back!

The bagels were good but they forgot to give us the cream cheese after I repeated confirmed the order. Its frustrating to have to run back out after picking up food but they were busy so Im not mad just disappointed.

Our local bakery closed so we were on the lookout for a different bakery and decided to give this place a shot. We purchased: cheesecake, and chocolate cake and husband tried the pastries but we were both disappointed. Nice staff but no good.

1st time buying the bacon egg and cheese bagel and im not impressed. The egg wasnt fresh, tasted like the powder eggs u get at McDonalds. The bacon was ok, crispy but super thin. When amount of egg and bacon you get on the begal was laughable. Didnt taste bad but definitely not worth the 4.50 they charge. I understand u get what you pay for but I couldve gotten a better tasting meal at wendys for the same price. Would have given 3 stars but the customer service definitely couldve been better.

This is a gem of a store with all the traditional NY bagel bakery items you’d expect. For pastries, I particularly love the black and white cookies and carrot cake. For sandwiches all of the triple deckers are amazing! Well managed, always a pleasant experience to go in. I will miss this place when I move!

Sadly they are not like they used to be. Going backwards in their services and delivery. I understand the Pandemics situation but it does not mean you take advantage of it either. Higher prices and lower quality. Bad combination. Look at this bagel with cream cheese. (Published it in the photos section). Happened the last couple of times. They are cutting corners. They put less than even a table spoon size of cream cheese. I hope they come back. Until then no more.

Excellent sandwiches and the chocolate cake is to die for. Call ahead and the sandwiches ready in 7 minutes. Their pastry selection is amazing. Cant go wrong with any selection.

Royal Bagel Bakery and Deli is beyond words awesome. The chocolate cigars are delectable, the cookies are great, bagels are indescribably good, and their deli sandwiches are insane. We got a strawberry shortcake for a party and it didnt last long. Highly recommended!

Staff move quickly to fulfill orders

I grew up in Germantown so I was a regular at this bagel shop until I moved away but always take the time to visit whenever I am in the area. So today, I was near the shop and was in the mood for a chai and bagel. Let me tell you, I am a chai latte guru and can confirm this place does not know how to make a CHAI drink. The drink was so terrible after a first few sips and I threw it away. Such a waste of money. At first, they mixed my chai with a HUGE HUGE amount of milk and it does not look right at all. I told them I prefer to mix it with hot water for my iced chai because that is how I always like them done. They used cold tap water. I mean, it tastes beyond awful. I miss the previous owner of this shop before the owner moved to NYC. This bagel shop has great bagels but steer clear of the chai making drink. THIS PLACE is clueless. Invest in training then I will be coming back.

Hidden gem with baked goods you cant find anywhere else. Bagels are great too but the coffee is standard issue/complimentary waiting room fare that isnt complimentary in this case. But the treats and cookies and cakes and whatever else theyre baking up more than make up for it.

This is the only place I can find whitefish salad. Its a Jewish delicacy, and it is almost TOO GOOD!

Swung by here by complete chance and was not disappointed. Bagels was amazing and fresh. Service was prompt and friendly and everything looks clean. They also have alot of pastries and treats that will put a smile on your face

I dont go here too often, a little bit out of my way. You can smell the deliciousness of baked goods before you even walk in the door. The apple fritter was awesome, not too dense or doughy like some other places.

Lets just say their butter cookies, bagels, and bear claws impress even a New Jersey son.

Love this place! The food is great and the staff are so friendly! Only thing I’m not a fan of is the store owner/manager. She is ridiculously rude and mean to her staff.

They have a huge selection of pastries, bagels, and savory menu items. It was my first time there so perhaps I got the wrong stuff but I didnt really like either my almond horn or my tuna melt. The horn was not a light pastry and felt like a brick with a bit too much almond flavoring. The tuna melt was much better but not something Id order again.

The food is good but very over priced, its not that good,, iwill not return

Usually love this place, the women with glasses always makes my drink and food great, however the man with glasses helped me and he forgot to toast my bagel that I asked to be toasted and it tastes like he put a shot of espresso or some type of coffee in my chai which I did not ask for, or not nearly enough chai concentrate. Just kinda a blower since I always look forward to a little pick me up from this place. Everyone is always super nice.

If youre in Germantown you have to stop in and get a sandwich and a pastry. This is the epitome of what really makes America great. Theres nothing stereotypical about this place everything is a surprise everything is delicious.

We have been here twice and it has been great both times. The bagel breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. The employees are really kind and helpful and the customer service is great. We tried samples of the pastries and ended up buying one of everything we tried because they were all so fantastic. The owner is amazing and even threw in a free pastry for us. We look forward to making this our regular weekend breakfast place. Highly recommended!
