Absolute worst gun shop I have ever been to as far as customer service and product knowledge goes. I dropped off a built upper receiver to get the barrel dimpled for an A2 fsb, and they didnt touch it for over a month for a simple hole to be drilled. I called every few days after a week to check the status since I was given an original estimate of one week, and every week it was well get to it next week. One time an employee even blamed the job taking too long on Biden. Another employee told me that its taking them so long to get it done because the sight had to be pin and welded. However, I never gave them a muzzle device, or even asked them to do anything of the sort. Between this experience, and few other negative encounters that I have had with Scotts, it is very clear to me that the staff is clueless when it comes to firearms. Ive met 18 year olds with more knowledge than these guys. I do not, will not, and will never recommend this shop to anyone as far as gunsmithing goes, or even their wildly overpriced stock items ($240 for an AR15 lower for example). Save your money, and go to anywhere else except Scotts Bumsmithing
Ive dealt with Scott personally and found their service to be well above average .
Dropped my rifle off a year and a half ago so I called to see how much longer until it was finished. The owner starting laughing and said it would be an all day job so he wants to work on other guns first. I went to pick up my gun a few days later and when i asked for my gun back with the scope parts the owner laughed as he did on the phone and had an employee go get the gun. I will never return here again and would warn anyone else from wasting their time here.
I went there to buy ammunition and was informed that they were out of that caliber. I ask when did you think it would be in he said condescendingly, like he didnt want to be bothered, dont know...I ordered two weeks ago, should be here, its in the mail. Call back everyday at 4pm to see if it came in.. Right like Im going to do that. Went elsewhere w/o a problem. The interesting thing is, I sent my wife, my son, and myself over the past year to buy it and they said the very same thing. Very unprofessional, crass and rude. If your reading this go elsewhere. Oh, I also took a 38 special in to have it looked at, cleaned etc., and they told me it was dangerous to fire........?! Totally a lie. Im still using it today after a year. I wont go there again. I get everything I need at Outdoor World .
Nice shop, nice people, and a good selection of accessories and weapons.
Scott fixed the grip on my revolver for very little. I thought it was going to cost closer to their hourly charge for labor. He did a great job with it. Its rock solid now.Scotts also sold a rifle for me on consignment. I took them 3 more, today. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable. I saw some negative reviews on the “older white hair guy”. He’s a great guy, actually. He may come across as rude to some folks, but I think he’s kind of funny that way and I appreciate him sharing his knowledge.
Very condescending and poor attitude. Unwilling and unable to help me. I would recommend finding elsewhere to have work done if you need anything beyond a simple parts swap.
I stopped by Scotts Gunsmithing today. What an experienced gunsmith Scotty is. His knowledge of firearms, their history and specifications was impressive. His integrity and honesty is superior. I will never go anywhere else. I will tell all my friends to shop here.
Will not be taking my gun there to be cleaned again. Cleaning was done in less than a day and gun was returned with gunpowder residue on the parts inside. For the price they charge they should be returning the gun in perfectly clean condition. A phone call to the establishment was fruitless since the employees there have a dont care attitude. Very poor uncaring, customer service.
The absolutely most incredible and professional gunsmith in both the Baltimore area and the State of Maryland. They not only fixed my firearms properly they have an on site machine shop and can fix literally any firearm from a single shot break barrel shotgun to a fully auto machine gun. No one else will get my firearm repair business but Scotts
Bought ammo today but a while back I bought parts to build my ar15Overall great staff very helpful and friendly will be coming back again
Stopped in to drop a gun for a transfer and met the staff. Great bunch of guys who have been around the block and know their stuff. Great local shop
A grouch who answered the call told me dont know if they can fix my rifle until they see it. Called back later hoping to get someone intelligent, wrong, was told after describing it to bring it down no problem. Im north of Baltimore so hour round trip and 8 bucks for the damn tolls. After getting there was asked oh when do you need it done by? I said tomorrow, and was told that will not happen, there are dozens of people ahead of me, but if I wanted to pay double I should have it by tomorrow. Waste of gas money and my time. You would think the guys answering the calls for a repair they would ask when do you need it, because we have so many people ahead of you. That way you dont waste time money. Its up to you if you go. I do NOT recommend this place.
Excellent prices and selection. The staff is great and once they get to know you, you need not, nor want to go anywhere else. This store rivals the online tactical marketplace which means you can get what you want now instead of waiting until next week.
Been going since I was old enough to buy a gun, I went with my Dad before that, I use to recommend this shop to everyone but not anymore my best advice is stay away the older guy with white hair is rude and talks down to you, he also over charges for services and state to state transfers by about 30% higher then everyone else. Their are plenty of great shops in the area I would suggest going to any of them over this shop.
Scott is the man! I always love coming into a shop to shoot the bull Scott and his fellow co-workers are very courteous and nice to talk to really good place to go for knowledge of firearms I took my 1911 into get a front sight installed and Scott was able to fix me up in about 10 minutes
Good, honest staff. Decent selection of firearms. I appreciate the quality of their smithing. There is a downside to that: Scotts is often backed up and it may be a long time before he gets to your firearm. Still, Id rather get good work done, and wait, then poor work.
Larry, whom I spoke with at this store, was both informative and friendly. The prices seemed reasonable in comparison to other shops in the area. They also release firearms 10 days after purchase (not making you wait the 100+ days).
I had an inline Muzzle loader with a seized breach plug. I could not remove it. Took it to Scotts Gunsmithing and they had it out within 10 minutes. Really appreciate the work.
Very good selection of tactical arms.
Nice shop, eager to do business, and decent prices. Very good prices on surplus-style guns, and good selection of hunting rifles. Some accessories and reloading available.
The worst customer service Ive ever experienced gun shopping. I collect and sell military surplus guns and have never seen higher prices then the guns at Scotts Gunsmithing. They quoted dent removal for an 870 express mag tube for 75 dollars the tool online is $45 and would take me 5mins to finish they also said it would take 5 to 7 weeks
I was initially hesitant on stopping in but ended up going on a whim one day. The guys are a little rough around the edges but I can tell that they are a good group. I would recommend this shop for anyone modifying an AR-15.
Ive had zero issues interacting with these gentlemen. They have helped me out at a moments notice on several occasions and have been nothing but friendly with my wife and I. I plan on swinging by this weekend for some work in hopes they can help me out. I dont have to think twice about making a trip to this store.
Is a great place to go to they tell you the truth and keep it honest and tell you what you need to do to fix your gun or have something done to your gun Scotts a good man Ill be going to long as hes in that building
I walked in there shop trying to order a ruger sr762. They told me $2000 at first and as i walked out the door they started screaming $1700 lol they will try and screw you over if you let them. Everything there is way over priced to begin with. Just go somewhere else
Nice people very helpful and easy going
Having purchased items from Scotts before, I decided to stop in and look for a cheek riser, or a way to accomplish rasing eye height for my new scope and rifle. The sign on the door said Open I read the sign from the street, hence prompting me to stop at that moment. After ringing the bell, and being allowed in; an older man came from the back and rudely asked What do you need? Not understanding why the attitude (Im a hardworking natural American, a devout patriot, and arrived in a marked company vehicle. So if he was suspicious of me, Im not sure why) I replied in the nicest tone possible what I was looking for. He immediately snapped back that we dont sell that, get it online or in another gun store because we are closed all the while another gentleman asks the first man from the back what is he looking for? The first man doesnt reply. I said well Ive purchased parts for my other rifle here before I was then informed they only deal in and I quote scary black riflesThe standoff-ish demeanor, lack of respect for me as a customer and my hard earned money, and the general apparent attitude towards doing business; will prevent me from coming back, referring, or even mentioning this location to any shooters, hunters or members of the growing local patriot community .This experience reminds me of Barts in the center of Glen Burnie, the same reasons I stopped going there, and Id imagine a contributing factor to their closing. Id rather pay a few extra dollars and buy local, support local economy and small business; but instead im met with resistance to even discuss options to solve my problem, let alone the ability to buy something.
I have purchase numerous pistols and rifles from Scotts Gunsmithing over the past 12 years. I have found the owner to be very knowledgable, helpful, and willing to take time to answer many questions when he is not under extreme pressure repairing others property!!The assistants have been extremely helpful to all walking through their door. I have found everyone to want to discuss current events related to legislative actions related to the owning, purchasing, or modifying guns. I have founf them to be current on laws, both federal and state, and have provided accurate guidance and assistance to ensure I am compliant with all statues! The shops primary mission, from my perspective, is gun repair. Scott knows his business and advises customers accordlongly to ensure they do not waste their money or his time. And he and the team at the shop are fully engaged meeting their primary business. This is not to say selling pistols, rifles, or shotguns is not of high interest, it is and they provide excellent advice, assistance, and customer service to anyone visiting the business.I highly recommend visiting and engaging the team at Scotts any time, but especially when you are in the mood to purchase a new, or used, pistol, rifle, or shotgun.Regards,Rich Friend
I have 2 things to say. First I brought in a 357 S&W revolver that was locking up when fired in the double action. They looked at it for several days fired many rounds and determined that a small piece that is no longer used was probably the culprit. Upon removing this they only charged me $35.Everyone I dealt with was very knowledgeable and professional. 2nd, I was interested in purchasing a 9 mm Glock. They talked to me about why I wanted it and what my uses were going to be. I have been to many shops recently about this and they were the only ones to take the time with me.They spent about an hr goiing over different options rather than just saying sure here you go
Scotts is very professional and respectful to all his customers and thats why I go back all the time to him only
Good experience with this shop. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are a little hefty but this is MD not NC.
Scotts Gunsmithing is the place to go fo firearms and great gunsmithing!
Dont listen to the bad reviews these are great guys got my problem solved fast and without charge best gun shop youll find around here!
They are very impressive with the guns they carry and services they provide
Never going back. Swung by trying to support an lgs on a whim that maybe that they would have some parts available for a current project. As soon as I walked Im the old asshat behind the counter said what are you looking for without even looking up at me. I proceeded to tell him that I came by at the recommendation of another area gun shop and was looking for parts for my 1911(one of the most widely sold and smithed weapon, by far) his response to me was to go buy it from Brownells thats what I do and proceeded to go back to ignoring this potential customer. I bet I have more smithing experience than this bubba wannabe old fart whose skill seemed to be tapping receivers on old milsurps for scopes, which he had on display by the way. Maybe a place to get a cheap junk gun but was not a professional smith in any regards.
First I stand and wait for 20 minutes then when I am finally helped becasue I am not 50 years old or a good-ole boy they treat me like i am stupid. I ask about a repair on my pistol, the guy behind the counter takes it in the back and before I could even look around comes back and says, NOPE out gunsmith wont even touch this....no reason, just hands it back and says Next....WTF!?Thanks! but no thanks!
They will forget to send in your paperwork delaying you for a week. One job.
Scott is best gunsmith around!
It’s a gun shop and gunsmith shop. nothing more
Friendly staff
