I had called to try to set up an appointment to have a remote starter installed. He asked me what day I was looking for and I said Saturday. His response was we dont do appointments on Saturday and hung up on me. Seems it would have been better service if he asked if a different day would be okay instead of hanging up on me. I have spent thousands of dollars with your company but will never be back!!!

Shoddy work... Used to be loyal, to many mistakes though. Brand new focus ST they tore the main wiring harness when they routed wires. Next car I brought them the install was ANYTHING BUT professional. Wires everywhere, clippings left all over. An absolute mess!

Where do I start? Was told they could fix my remote starter. Had to go back three times. All the while trying to get me to put a whole new system in. Discourteous, rude, vulgar, inappropriate to describe the workers behavior. Never mind the fact that they’re lazy and incompetent to boot. Do yourself a favor eat the extra money and go to the dealership.

Let me just say this..DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE, TRUST ME!!! I have had 4 different vehicles here and have had sound systems and remote starters installed in them. They have all turned out perfect, no problems at all! ...until i moved to South Carolina and now i am trying to get my sound system transferred into my new vehicle, it is a disaster down here . Every car stereo place here is 4 times as much as Mickey Shorr and the people are rude as well. I may just end up driving back home to Michigan to this Mickey Shorr and just have them do it again, because i know i can trust them and they do a WONDERFUL JOB!!!

If I could star this place a Zero I’d do it in a heart beat. This place is a joke. I went there a week ago to buy an amp they told me it would be here Tuesday at noon, I went Wednesday to pick it up and they put it in someone else’s car and told me they’d have more Friday. I called to let them know I was canceling my installation due to vehicle issues and I again tried to pick up my amp they told me they still don’t have it and I have to drive to a different store to pick it up and I said no thank you I just want my money back. I went there to get my money today and they told me they don’t have my money. I will never return to this store after they return my money.

My speakers went out and I brought my car to this Mickey Shorr location, the guys there quickly figured out the problem and gave me my options. When I mentioned my budget they worked with me and gave me their recommendation on brand and price. Got all four speakers replaced and very quickly! Had a good conversation with the other guy at the front desk while I waited too. Overall a very pleasant visit and I left happy and w my car bumping music 🎶

These guys did an amazing job. Went to the Plainfield location to get my charger done. I had them put a sub and 4 c1 speakers in for me and it turned out amazing. These guys can get all the high end stuff and if you want it done right taken to Ed B.! If you want it done right and to sound right, I suggest spending the money to do so. Micky Shorr has the best prices and quality upgrades to any type of mobile transportation. However, not all installations are created equal. If you are going to do it, use a location that can get it right the first time. Today, I was treated as though I was their only customer. Helpful staff and a variety of services and products offered. The technicians are very knowledgeable and charge reasonable prices. If you would rather do you car stereo install yourself, they have everything you need from power wire to Subwoofers.Bonus: Although they specialize in cars, I believe they also sell marine speakers for boats as well.

Mickey Shorrs customer service was unmatched. I had contacted two other providers for a remote car starter, and was given the basic service and response one would expect. When I contacted Mickey Shorr, I was personally called by the regional manager, Shawn, given the complete breakdown of what I would need and why, and given a promise that I would be well served when I arrived for the installation. They followed through exactly as he had stated and got my car done in a timely manner only a day and a half after we spoke. Every step of the way, I was confident I was in good hands. Service is clearly their priority, and customers will continue to have great experiences with Mickey Shorr if they provide them the same service they did for me.

I was there at 7AM today and parked right in from of one of the garage doors.Not a soul around so I figured I was first in line. Another pulled up at 7: 20. We talked a little, we were first and second.No one else showed up until 8:25 It was 22degrees out so I stayed in the car being as old as I am seemed like the smart thing to do rather than stand outside for 2 hours . Well about 8:45 they really stared to line up at the front door. The guy who opened up put the key in at 8:55 and employees started to walk in moving quick to get things going.The front door opened a little after nine and it looked like, black Friday at Walmart. I went in and walked up front and told the man that I was there at 7 and was the first in line in front of the door. He couldnt care less. You have to be in line with all the others. I said well give me my money back Ill go somewhere else. I told him I paid cash and thats what I wanted. Then things changed a little and he asked for the keys.I was early so I could get some other things out of the way. Its 2PM now .I think they are just messing with me now. This will be the last time. Ive had good service on 2 other cars they put remotes on years ago why should this be any different?They need a better system for appointments. Theyre not the only people who are busy and want things done in a timely manner. Save yourself some head aches shop around!Will Keller

This is bs! Came in yesterday with coupon in hand. Cost twice as much as coupon said (fine print)! Salesman said to come back next day for installation....open at 9:00, but he would be here at 8:30. Now 8:59, doors locked, no salesman, we all waiting outside in cold and wet! First guys here not seen first!!! BS! Salesman from yesterday said he would be here at 8:30 (now 9:20 and still not here!) and said job would take 3 to 4 hours, done by noon....now they are telling me 9:00 pm tonight!!! I went in to check on a couple parts I needed to install a new radio. The kid at the counter gave me a price of almost $300, I said no, I just need the parts I got the radio, he says, yea, you need.......(lists 4 parts off) then installation, Im like, No, man I need JUST THE PARTS, then here list the 4 parts again and quotes me $218.... I drove to Meijer got the TWO parts I REALLY needed and paid a little over $80. If you go in you BETTER know what you need and what youre taking about, if not I would recommend you bring your own HUGE JAR of KY Jelly, because youre GOING to need it. I havent seen a guy try to screw someone that hard since I was an Alterboy!!! I would NOT recomend!!!

In turn I bought the additional Steering wheel control harness and a new Head Unit. Everything was competitively Priced. The staff was friendly and personable. Should be a ZERO star. Had a remote start put in. Had issues directly after this with car not starting! Turned out to be a computer issue that they tap into for the starter. $1000 later they refuse to admit and responsibility and will not even return the starter even though its been only a month and the car was in their shop 3 times for the problem before I took it to a auto shop! Bad business practices there folks!

Well Jerry Heit is set example of great customer service! We drove 40 mins after working all day to stop by to have our key fob looked at, this was the only day convenient for us. The man Jerry can multitask! He is smart, friendly and a sense of humor and very knowledgeable! He has our back. He changed our battery (this was easy to change of course) and made sure it worked. He even answered all my questions!

Back in November of 2018, I had Mickey Shorr do a Subwoofer install on my 2014 Honda Accord. I waited an understandable 3 1/2 hours for this job to be done, but as soon as they handed me the keys back to my car, I got in it and right as I turned my car on the subwoofer would blast for about 5-10 seconds before shutting off and working how it should. I didnt have time to wait there any longer because they took much longer on the install than what they estimated. Because this place is a first come first serve, having a full-time job made it very difficult to come back. I did some forum reading and found out that several people were having the same issue. The fix was very simple I just didnt have the tools necessary to complete it. So after a few months (2 days ago) I went into Mickey Shorr, told them the issue started back when they installed it, I told them exactly what the issue was and what needed to be done to fix it. They told me No problem, it is a simple fix $42 out the door. I thought that was pushing it because the fix was so simple. All that needed to be done was unplugging to microphones in the, one above the dash, and one above the headliner just above the rear seats. 2 pins are holding up the headliner to access it. Anyway, I gave them my card and paid for them to complete the fix. About an hour later, they came in from the garage and said they had good news and bad news. The good news was that they figured out the issue, and the bad news was that it would cost $35 to fix it. Now, in my head, I was thinking this would be 7 dollars cheaper than what they originally said. But no, they wanted to add $35 on top of the $42. So I asked what I would be spending the $42 on. They said A garage check and troubleshooting. Now, these are the things I found funny: #1, they never once mentioned anything about a garage check, and #2, they said they were using the $42 to go towards troubleshooting when I already told them the exact issue. I didnt have the time to have them fix the issue nor did I care to give them more money for such a simple fix. So I left. I sat at my works parking lot, grabbed a screwdriver and fix the issue in 5-10 minutes without damaging anything. So then I called them and asked for a refund on my original $42 because it was illogical for them to have the right to take my money for absolutely no reason and then lie about it going towards troubleshooting when I already told them the issue. They refused and started using excuses about it being out of warranty from my November 2018 repair when all I was talking about was the refund for the $42 I gave them for no reason 2 days ago. I have now contacted my bank and disputed with them what my issue was, and they are investigating the situation. I DO NOT recommend Mickey Shorr because I feel they have taken advantage of me and are refusing to cooperate.

Well I cant write an experience about what they did, because I could never get them to do it. I was trying to get my wife a car starter for Christmas. I tried 4 times at this location, and probably due to the nature that every one wants one at that time of year I could not get in. They dont take appointments. You have to show up on a first come first serve. But the main reason I gave it one star, is because I then waited till after Christmas, and I called just to see if they were still busy, and they just left me on hold for half hour, then I hung up. I did go to a different Mickey Shorr location and did get it for my wife. That review I will leave for that location. My advise is, if you want a car starter at this location, get it in July or show up hour and half before they open so you can be first in line. :(

Bought an Alpine radio and had these guys install it, I asked if they could look at my speakers cuz only one side is working. They tell me that they can’t do anything with speakers unless I buy some from them. Then when I get my truck back, the Bluetooth mic doesn’t work. I bought a remote starter from them for my wife. I’m out of town. She asked them again to look at the speakers and the Bluetooth mic. Said the only way they could fix the speakers is if we buy speakers from them. Why would I buy speakers from you when you can’t even tell me what’s wrong with what I have. Oh, the Bluetooth mic still doesn’t work. I paid for service and didn’t get it. I wouldn’t even give these guys one star, which is really sad because back in the day Mickey Shorr was the place you went to get your stuff hooked up. Guess they forgot where they came. I won’t ever go back!

I bought a radio from them over this summer and they told me they didnt have a dash kit that fit the radio flush with the dash so they built me a temporary part and said they would call me in a week when they shipped the new mount in. Free of charge. I waited 2 months for them to call and called them twice durring that time and they said it was on its way. The never called me back. After 4 months I went back to ask if they had shipped my part and they said there was never an order placed and it would cost me another $100 for shipping. $100 DOLLARS FOR SHIPPING. I went on line and can order the part my self and ship it for less than $30. I will never use Mickey Shorr again for anything. Its a scam and a rip off.

I was naive to got talked into having a car lock installed in my Honda thinking that they cared. The manager said that they will look at the car alarm and horn and will make It work. It was Saturday and the car was done right at 5 pm before they closed. They didnt have time to fix the car alarm and horn and advised me to come back the following week. When i returned they werent enthusiastic as before. Told the manager exactly where the horn and car alarm are located but still all they did was open the hood if the car and pretended to fix the problem; only to be told to go to somebody else because they cant fix it and it is not their job. Not cool!

My name is Jeff Hoodhood. I have been installing car audio longer than anyone in the history of Grand Rapids...I cut my teeth on 8 tracks and cassette players ! I have read ALL the reviews on Mickey Shorr and I could not be Prouder of my relationship with them. They are honest, and fair and above all....I TRUST THEM. 90 % of the reviews are EXCELLENT. I certainly know that not every car goes as planned, but if you have a problem, you bring it back and give them a chance to make things right. The installers at Mickeys since 1980 have been incredible. As for the bad reviews, especially the Anderson Sisters, they reported only what they wanted YOU to hear. Remember...there are always 2 sides to every story... Theirs.....AND THE TRUTH. Car audio can be a very tricky thing. My advice will ALWAYS be to try and work EVERYTHING out so there are no bad feelings and bad reviews... Remember... Loud is BEAUTIFUL...only if its CLEAN. ! Keep Rockin, Jeff.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable but the costs are insanely high.I stopped in for an 8 ga. amp kit and a universal aux input / FM bypass.Online price is $14 for the amp kit and $24 for the aux input... In store price was almost $45 for the kit and $70 for the aux. input.Id happily pay a few dollars more to not wait for shipping... But not 4X more.Wont be back... Waste of time

THEY ASSOCIATES THAT INSTALLED MY RADIO RIGGED WIRES FROM MY STEREO TO MY CAR LIGHTER FUSE TO MAKE THE RADIO WORK. THIS WAS NOT LIKE THIS BEFORE AND I HAVE HAD MY STEREO REPLACED BEFORE AND THEY DID NOT NEED TO DO THE SLOPPY RIG TO INSTALL A RADIO. THE LIVE WIRE WAS JUST LOOSELY HANGING FROM THE FUSE WHICH MADE IT SO THE FUSE COULD NOT SEAT IN THE HOUSING PROPERLY. ALSO BECAUSE OF THIS RIG THEY CUT THE WIRE THAT POWERED ONLY THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND REWIRED IT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION. AFTER BEING HUNG UP ON BY MIKE WHO IS SUPPOSEDLY THE STORE MANAGER I HAD TO CALL CORPORATE TO TRY TO GET THIS RESOLVED ONLY IN THE END TO BE TREATED BADLY BY THREE OF THEIR ASSOCIATES {MIKE WHOM HUNG UP ON ME JERRY WHOM TOLD ME HE DID NOT HAVE TIME AND FINALLY ALEX WHOM TOLD ME I AM TRYING TO TELL YOU BUT YOU WONT SHUTUP. AFTER ALL OF THIS THE WIRING IS STILL NOT FIXED IT IS STILL RIGGED ONLY THE CORDS ARE HIDDEN EVEN THOUGH JERRY ASSURED ME EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO HOW IT WAS BEFORE AND WAS FIXED NOW. TOO ADD TO ALL THIS I WAS BEING FORCED TO SIGN PAPERS ON THIS RECENT VISIT TO GET THIS RESOLVED THAT I HAVE NEVER SIGNED THERE BEFORE ON THE 05/17/2019 DATE, BUT WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS STANDARD PROCEDURE. SO APPARENTLY SOME OF THE ASSOCIATES ARE DOING THEIR JOB RIGHT WHILE OTHERS ARENT. MY CONVERSATION WITH ALEX BARBIE WHO IS THE REGIONAL MANAGER DID NOT GO SO WELL. HE KEPT INSISTING THAT HE DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING WHEN I TOLD HIM AND THERE IS A RECORDED LINE THEY SAID HAD THE CONVERSATION I SAID, WOULD IT BE FAIR TO SAY THAT THIS ALL COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF SOMEONE IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE UP SALE THEY WERE DOING SOMEONE COULD HAVE SAID MAM THE TYPE OF CAR YOU HAVE CALLS FOR SPECIFIC PARTS IN ORDER TO HOOK UP AN AFTERMARKET RADIO BUT WE CAN RIG IT SO IT WORKS OR MAM WE HAVE A PART THAT CAN BE ORDER WILL ALLOW FOR A SMOOTH INSTALLATION OTHERWISE WE WILL HAVE TO RIG IT TO THIS OR THAT. ALEXS REPLAY WAS THAT HE DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING! WHEN THEY CAME UP WITH AN EXCUSE AS TO WHY THEY RIGGED MY CAR LIKE THIS IT WAS MAM THE TYPE OF CAR YOU HAS NEEDS THIS OR THAT AND THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY WHEN I ALREADY INFORMED THEM THIS WASNT THE FIRST INSTALL I EVER HAD AND THEY DIDNT NEED TO CUT CORNERS LIKE THAT SO WHY WOULD THEY NEED TO. WHEN I ARRIVED THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS REQUEST ACCORDING TO MIKE THE ASSOCIATE THAT HELPED US BEHIND THE COUNTER ONLY THAT IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $156.00 TO INSTALL.WHILE THAT WAS A HIGH REQUEST TO INSTALL A RADIO I OBLIGED AND THE INSTALLATION BEGAN. THROUGHOUT THE ALMOST 4 HOURS WE WERE THERE MIKE CAME OUT MULTIPLE TIMES INSISTING THAT WE NEEDED NEW SPEAKERS BECAUSE THE RADIO WOULD NOT WORK EVEN THOUGH INSTALLED PROPERLY. AFTER WE BOUGHT SPEAKERS FOR ANOTHER $300.00 WE THOUGHT IT WAS OVER ONLY FOR MIKE TO COME TO US AGAIN AND TELL US THAT MY SPEAKERS DID WORK THEY JUST WERENT HOOKED UP RIGHT. HE WAS GOING TO ADD AN EXTRA CHARGE ON TOP OF THE $156.00 IF I WANTED TO JUST KEEP MY SPEAKERS INSTEAD OF THE 330.00SO CONFUSED AND FEELING SLIGHTED AND HAVING PURCHASED THE SPEAKERS AT THIS POINT WE OBLIGED. SO I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE AT THIS POINT, BUT THE RADIO WORKED SO I WAS OKAY WITH IT. THAT WAS UNTIL I BLEW A FUSE FROM HITTING A POTHOLE TOO HARD I OPENED MY FUSE PANEL TO FOREIGN WIRES DANGLING FOR DEAR LIFE FROM THE LITTLE FUSES. THEY ASSOCIATES THAT INSTALLED MY RADIO RIGGED WIRES FROM MY STEREO TO MY CAR LIGHTER FUSE TO MAKE THE RADIO WORK. THIS WAS NOT LIKE THIS BEFORE AND I HAVE HAD MY STEREO REPLACED BEFORE AND THEY DID NOT NEED TO DO THE SLOPPY RIG TO INSTALL A RADIO. THE LIVE WIRE WAS JUST LOOSELY HANGING FROM THE FUSE WHICH MADE IT SO THE FUSE COULD NOT SEAT IN THE HOUSING PROPERLY. Awesome guys! Half of these poor ratings are from whiney people who have destroyed their own setups and want to blame someone for operator error.These guys can hook you up with whatever you need. Hell, I brought in my F150 to have them do the big 3 upgrade for me. Normally its something I would have done but it was just too hot and I was lazy. Guys did a spectacular job, especially since Im pretty sure I was the first big 3 that they have done in a while if not ever.So if you read these reviews and want to second guess these guys Ill gladly show you what my truck sounds like and then you can pick your jaw up and go have these guys set you up.

Mickey shorr is west Michigans number 1 mobile audio store. Whether it be your boat, Your motorcycle, or your automobile mickey shorr has solutions for you. The manager Mikey has always been super helpful throughout the years Ive had my system installed. Any problems I have he fixes them for free or at cost of materials. They have remote start kits, a wide selections of amps and subs, Id recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their speakers.

I recently went to Mickey Shorr on Plainfield to deal with an electrical issue due to cheap wiring installed at a competitor in SE Grand Rapids (will remain nameless). The staff at Mickey Shorr identified my problem immediately and were very professional and suggested some upgrades that would make my music experience more enjoyable. At the recommendation of the manager, I upgraded my JVC deck to a Kenwood and the sound quality is amazing! Not only that, but I had them install an upgraded 4-channel amp to replace my aging Alpine. They didnt charge me a dime for the installation AND took the time to tune the entire system at no additional cost. I have to say that my experience is far above and beyond what I had experienced at a competitor. I will definitely be back. The staff were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous and I left feeling as though I got a great deal! 5 stars isnt enough. My system sounds amazing now! Thanks again!!

I went and got my stereo system put in here. It was a big pricy for what they had to do but it was well done and I never had any problems with it. They were super friendly and super great at explaining everything. I got recommended to go to here but autozone and I would recommend it to someone else.

Told my radio was new and was just used to fill the empty space on the wall. Had to ask for the original box Purchased my last radio from them less that 6 months and it broke. I was told the company should have sold me a Marine radio because of the amount of moisture in my vehicle. Why they didnt I will never know since my van says Hall of Fame Mobile Grooming and it use to be an old recreational vehicle.

I wouldnt recommend going here for parts, its fairly pricey and theres not a good selection of cords unless you buy a kit. If you have the money and dont want to DIY, then its probably a good choice. Employees seem to know what they are talking about though.
