We found this place on the way back to Texas. Dont let the exterior fool you, this place has the makings of a top diner with that old school feel to it. The hot dogs were great, the waitress was so fun, the atmosphere was great, and the overall price was affordable.

These guys know the secret ingredient of a legendary coney is the coney sauce! The breakfast was excellent as well.

This place is always fantastic and the food is always spot on. Met a new fella this time by the name of Will and he was so much fun. The man had a fantastic sense of humor and was right on top of the job! If youre in the area stop and grab a bite to eat and be sure to say hey to Will 🤠

Plainly stated order, specifying details to the initial waitress that seated us at the downtown restaurant. New waitress brings our food. My companions was fine, mine was wrong. Not what I ordered. I very carefully specified what I wanted, and nope. Not what I got. I said that I didn’t want that, and to just take my order off the bill instead of remaking a new one since we needed to leave relatively soon. The waitress left to go to the register where the manager was, and they started to discuss how to fix the situation. Again, not bothering to listen to what I asked them to do. I reiterated that I wanted it just taken off. I didn’t want anything else. Just take it off the bill. Which the manager said she would do. I returned to my seat, my beverage glasses empty. The manager came over 2 more times to deliver and pick up the check, and refused to refill either my or my companions glass. My companions meal was fine, I left a 25% tip.

First time here, loved it! Our waitress was so friendly! Food came quick, awesome pricing, filled this Polynesian boy up! Endless coffee too! Definitely a return worthy stop!

Well...that sucked. Service was fine, no issues there, but the food quality was lower than what Id imagine gas station food to be. The four of us ordered various chili dogs with onion rings. Not good. The onion rings are an extra $1.50 and you get 5 rings. If youre going to charge extra, I expect extra. The chili quality and was poor. Overall, it wasnt a great experience.

Today was exceptional! Ordered the meat omelet to go and what what I received was a generous size, delicious with the hashbrowns perfect. And quick. My only complaint would be the styrofoam container, but options arent exactly great out there.

Double stack burger, chili cheese fries, and cookies and cream shake were all excellent. Service was good. However, burger was medium instead of medium rare, thus one star short of perfection. But that’s just me being picky; it was a great lunch and I will be back!

Staff was super sweet and working super hard, my only complaint was they messed up some minor things in the order but fixed them immediately! I do recommend. Food is tasty, I will be going back for more chicken tenders :)

Consistently the slowest or nonexistent customer service in Grand Rapids. They may be understaffed is all I can gather, which I feel they should address. Myself and other customers around me had mutual feelings about the quality of the service here .

The music was great, the food was phenomenal, it was very clean and our waitress was great. Oh and the prices cant be beat! They even had a pack of goldfish Graham cookies folded into the kids menu, which was super perfect for our impatient toddler.

I had forgotten why its been a few years since I visited this establishment, today I was reminded why that reason was.Kid at counter takes a name for wife and I and said itll be 10 mins to be seated and then proceeds to sit a single person and then 2 people who walked in behind my wife and I.We will definitely not need another reminder.

Ive been going to the Grand Coney for 15 years, and though the menu has changed and the faces are new, its still the same pleasant experience every time. The coffee is always fresh and hot, and breakfasts are always delicious - no matter the time of day. Thanks for keeping GR happy!!!

I ordered a skillet meal. It was okay. It wasnt the best. Utensils wasnt given to me at first needed to wait for them while my food was in front of me. I had to ask for more coffee and jelly for the toast wasnt provided. I didnt ask. Wasnt asked how my food was. I realized they were a bit busy, however I would have enjoyed a bit of service with smile. I

The place was filthy. The foyer was disgusting. I didnt eat there. If the entrance, which is your first impression, is filthy, you know the kitchen is just as bad. If they dont care what the public sees, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like that the public does not see. They hadnt been open that long when I arrived, and the front glass doors were disgusting. I didnt want to touch them.

Good down to earth diner food. The chicken lemon rice soup is my favorite.

The kids menu has a lot of fun activities to keep your kids busy, they have delicious breakfast, great gyros, hippie hash, smothered waffle fries, and fritos pies. The coney dogs with the original Koegel are some of the best Ive had anywhere in the country. Michigan street is open 24/7.

Paid almost $4 for about a handful of waffle fries to go. the menu says $2 something. it was literally a half full tiny square styrofoam container. maybe 7 whole waffle fries total. seems like they skimp on to go orders.

Usually decent food but the quality was lacking. Ordered a Chicago dog and they forgot to cook the actual hotdog. They took it off the bill but there were other quality issues that night.

Grand Coney is sort of necessary to Grand Rapids. It fills the void of 24 hour diners. And its pretty good too. But, with no competition, their prices are higher than they should be in my opinion. For just a little bit more, you could be eating at a nice brewery or restaurant. That said, sometimes I (and many others) just crave diner food and Grand Coney delivers nicely. Ive never had a problem with their food, staff, or location. Just with their value.

Ordered a medium burger with fries and chicken lemon rice soup. The burger was well done and the soup was the consistency of risotto.

This is the best place ever to eat! They have the absolute best deep fried pickles and onion rings on top of many other dishes!

I slide a greasy $2 bill across the counter and the cook agreed to put gravy on ANY MENU ITEM.

Well yesterday after completing my review from this place it was a 5 stars but unfortunately Im going to have to deduct at least 3 stars maybe even 4 due to the fact that at 3 oclock in the morning I became very abruptly ill from eating your chili fries & hot dogs. Your food was the only thing that I eat all day long aside from a few snacking here and there but yes waking up at 3 oclock in the morning throwing up profusely over an hour is not exactly my ideal way have fun. I reached out to my girlfriend to find only that her as well also was abruptly ill. as she had the same exact thing that I did accept I didnt eat mashed potatoes. So now that is 2 people that have consumed through to from the place that now makes this a case of food borne illness outbreak. Local Health department will be contacted immediately .

My eyes are immediately drawn to the unique style of dish that the onion rings arrive in. They are a cut above the plain white plate, and of an entirely different character than the plastic baskets lined with a modicum of greasy waxed paper. It is oblong and mysterious, not unlike an albino, open-faced banana peel.Within this peel, however, one finds a reasonable portion of crispy onion rings, rather than the pale and smooth flesh of a banana. The onion rings seem fairly consistently breaded, almost to a fault, as it suggests either a ruthlessly efficient mass production in a kitchen (which, I admit, is possible), or the far more likely fruit of a frozen bag.A ramekin of zesty sauce was delicately balanced within the oblong dish, striking me more as a bold artistic statement on the fragility of civilization than an optimal placement for sauce.My initial suspicion of frozen rings seem to have hit a snag, as the onion rings ooze with a robust taste of butter and grease, coming from the core of a well-cooked onion. While possible in frozen rings, it is exceedingly rare. The batter is well seasoned, and is cooked to a delicate crisp without being overdone.Though the zesty sauce was precarious, it delivered a solid complement to the flavors of the onion ring. All told, I have no major complaints about the taste, but it was missing a little bit of the wow factor necessary to take it to the next level.Typically, the taste and texture of an onion ring are intimately related, and understanding one provides crucial hints to the other. In this case, the maxim holds true. With a good volume of onion-derived grease pouring out in each bite, I could safely determine (and confirm with subsequent bites) that the onions were well cooked. That is to say, not too overdone as to be mushy, and not so underdone as to be raw.Likewise, the batter hits the right notes between a burnt husk and a soft circle of raw better. There is some slippage, but not much. As with taste, the texture didnt quite hit all the right notes, but it was singing the right song.Though the onion rings are solid in both taste and texture, the quantity leaves a bit to be desired for the price. At $5 for the mystery dish mounded with onion rings, they dont quite manage to rise to perfection, but its a good bite at a good price.

Hair in the food, it was also cold. Only been there once and I know restaurants do have their bad days. The manager was very nice, however we unfortunately wont be going back.

Every so often they cheap out on the gravy. It was rare but once and awhile thered be barely enough for 1 maybe 2 biscuits. I originally thought maybe a new cook just judged wrong based on previous visits. Now the shortage happens everytime. My last 3 trips specifically.

Typical Sunday morning breakfast at Coney...of course it was busy. Waitresses there are always great and they were crushing it, however, one cook in the kitchen- and hes fighting the good fight, but hes getting buried in the rush. Manager on duty is playing Candy Crush or texting on her phone the entire time, too busy to notice that its all hands on deck and customers are waiting upwards of 30 mins for their orders. This is inexcusable. I get it with the phone thing, but when the whole crew is jamming, help them the @#$%&* out! Ive had many years in the biz, so this was crunch time and you needed to jump in and catch them up- it might have taken like 15-20 mins...no big deal, and well- thats your job! It generates esprit de corps amongst the staff, makes paying customers happy, and that builds into a more positive experience and leads to better tips too. Everybody wins...get off your damned phone for all those obvious reasons!

The food has been good every time but the service has always been great. The servers are always quick to your table and cooks are quick to serve. Definitely a place to be enjoyed on a slow Sunday morning.
