The store has a wide selection for gardening needs. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I easily found everything I was looking for and the pricing was good. I highly recommend them to anyone. I have made purchases at all four of their locations with the same level of customer service.

Decided to stop into this place for the first time today. There was one employee behind the counter, I believe he said his name was Cody, that was very helpful! I had a few questions about nutrients and issues I’ve been having with my indoor grow operation. He recommended a handful of different products, and seemed to genuinely want to help me. I will definitely be shopping here again. I read a few reviews that complained about high prices, but I didn’t find the prices to be outrageous at all. Those complaints are probably from people who compared the prices with Amazon. From my experience, I will never purchase quality nutrients on Amazon again. I’ve gotten counterfeit/fake products that I purchased on Amazon more than once. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Really did love this place. You walk in and your greeter is a bunch of cacti can a elephant ear plant that is beautiful. I went when some reps were there got some amazing information and meet some friends while there. The guys/gals behind the counter are super friendly and knowledgeable! Looking into a mushroom bag for co2 and left with a cutting of a unique spider plant as well. Amazing people highly recommend.

I went in there to buy a couple of simple things their prices were so outrageous I decided to get online. I went to a few other stores and I found out that this place really charges a lot more than everybody else. This should be the last place you go to buy anything I would definitely check out all my other options and use this place for a last resort.

This is a one stop shop, not only you can find soils or nutrients to energize your garden, there’s Shane, Robby, Earl and even a mushroom/CO2 specialist Brandon, that is dropping crazy products right here in Grand Rapids. They are worth more than the money you will spend in the store. If they say it’s worth buying, you can trust they are steering you in the right direction. You won’t find another down to earth, knowledgeable group of guys who just like growing. Fairest prices I would say in my experience.

First time grower, my cousin recommended this place for all my growing needs and advice and he was spot on! From soil, ph adjustment and air flow, I feel much more at ease knowing these guys are a trip away if I need anything. Just stopped in today after moving down to Grand Rapids. First time stopping in here I wanted to grab some seeds starter soil. They didnt have any in stock but had a half bag. Robby hooked me up with the half bag. Very friendly and knowledgeable store. Will definitely be coming back!

Went into the shop a few days ago to find a submersible waterpump for an aeroponics setup Ive been saving money for months on. They didnt have my item, so I asked the guy at the desk if thats all the pumps they had. A short harsh response indicated yes. So, already being in the store, I figured Id at least pick something up. I asked the cashier what he would recommend, he asked what setup I was running, and I told him Ive been saving months to build this bucket aeroponics rig, but I wasnt sure which nutrients to start my first grow with. I was cut off by the cashier with a response: WELL YOU should KNOW what setup youre running before youre doing anything. Im obviously a beginner, but I took the high road with his rudeness and picked out the product for purchase. As I hand it over, he asked if I had a membership, which I said no, and he grunted and turned around. During this, another customer was having a discussion with a separate employee. In the middle of my transaction, the cashier decided to join the conversation uninvited. I tried to get his attention several times, which he ignored me. He slapped the receipt on the table with a pen and didnt even look at me. I picked up my item waiting for some sort of ok youre good or some form of goodbye. NOTHING. The cashier continued to have his discussion while I stood there for at least 30 awkward seconds. I walked over behind the customer he was talking to, and looked at him. He avoided eye contact. The other customers body language showed obvious discomfort at this point.This is some of the most unprofessional customer service Ive had in my entire life. I would understand in a corporate environment where people dont care about their jobs. However, farming is about love, abundance, caring, sharing, and sustaining the world. I saw none of that attitude from the cashier who worked there.I plan on building an industrial aero farm within a decade, on several acres, and was hoping to find a local shop to grow with. I will never return to this shop regardless of what is offered there.I would pay double just to have someone smile and exchange a few words. These items are all already found cheaper online anyway, so Im obviously not going into the shop to save money.Stay away, do not shop. Go elsewhere or Amazon.

I have never been to a hydroponics store before and really didnt know what to expect. Well I can tell you that as soon as I walked into the door I was greeted warmly, listened to kindly, given fantastic knowledge, helped with choosing a container, special soil, vitamins and even helped me plant my new citrus tree. I would definitely recommend this store to everyone and was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge given me. I so will be back. Cant wait until spring when my massive perennials starts growing and getting new knowledge and help with some problematic species I own. Thank you for a great experience.

I am new to this and needed some help getting started. I had gone to several stores before I went here. At the other stores, I was either ignored by the staff, or they seemed put off by my questions. Not here. This place is fantastic. I was greeted as I walked through the door. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They took time to thoroughly answer every one of my questions. They guided me through everything I needed to get started. I left feeling much more confident and knowing that if I run into any difficulty, the guys at this store are there to help me get back on the right track. I would highly recommend this store. Their customer service and large selection of inventory really sets them apart from every other hydro store I have been to.

I will continue to frequent this local business, as they offer expertise and customized assistance, a perk you cannot always find with big box retailers.OLD REVIEW:In an attempt to support a local business we were in turn given a poor experience. We purchased a lighting unit from this store ($300) and later noticed that on their very own website it was advertised for $50 less. The employee who answered the phone said they could offer a $50 in-store credit, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately upon arrival the manager told us he would not honor the listed price online or offer any store credits. What a disappointing experience.

I went in there looking for prices on potting soil, and walked out with soil, AND a wonderful product that increases the yeild and health of my plants! Shane was there welcoming me as I walked in, asked if I was there for something specific, so I asked about what I could do to help my plants out and a little issue Ive had, and he explained thoroughly, and easy to understand, what Id want and how it would help, for a great price too! It Was easy to trust his advice and knowledge, and let me say, he was beyond right, he knows what hes doing and Ill be going back for more!!10/10 would do again

Great service and prices! I was hunting for an 8 bulb high output t-5 and Robby hooked me up with a price that even beat the internet retailers. He gave me some tips on microbe tea and was just a super friendly guy to deal with. Because he saved me some $$ I was also able to pickup a couple of air stones and an air pump for my microbe tea bucket!I didnt realize that Growers outlet in south Grand Rapids was also part of the Horizen Hydroponics family of companies, so if youre on the south end of GR (which I am) you can get the same great deals and service without making the drive out to north GR on Alpine. By the way, I called these guys at 5 minutes to closing time to confirm some price and availability on the T-5 I was looking for and they still provided outstanding customer service. Another local company I called just before Horizen failed on the phone miserably which stopped me from ever walking into their store. If they were that rude and nasty to deal with on the phone, what are they like in person? I sure didnt want to find out.My bottom line:If youre looking for awesome prices and great customer service, then stop on by Horizen. Robby and the crew will take great care of you. Give them a call, and youll see how friendly and down to earth they are.

This is my favorite grow store in town. They know my name and they are always so happy yo see me, even after I steal some pizza to munch on and bug their Manager. Their manager is probably in the top five most knowledgeable people I have met as it pertains to his particular field.

Great advice, good prices. Okay to bring kids. My toddlers loved the tilapia fish they have in their aquaponic demo setup!I talked to the staff for at least a half hour about products, techniques, and getting advice. Everyone was kind and respectful. They do not push any certain kind of light setup or fertilizer on you - they let the customer decide. Worth the drive!
