Im done with shopping here. The service is terrible. Employees are more interested in standing around talking to each other. They also dont know about the products in the store. I have been told they dont carry an item and then I find it myself after looking for a few minutes. There have been other similarly disappointing interactions too. Thats frustrating enough but there is also a cashier that has the worst attitude. Im over it. Will not shop here anymore. Ever.

One thing I like about Ace Hardware is, that the service people are more knowledgeable than the other hardware stores. I was at the same store yesterday and, the gentleman that help me found a perfect alternative to the product I needed. Today, was a totally opposite experience. He couldnt find what I needed quickly and he didnt have time to search deeper. Nevertheless, I found an alternative item without his help. I simply needed one little tiny part and it took an hour. Again, this was not a normal experience and I will continue to go there of course. They actually have many parts the mega hardware stores dont (ie. hardened nuts and bolts for car parts).

Truly local hardware and always willing to help with finding what you need plus ideas to make the job easier.

Bought 3 products to replace some parts for a pressure washer. These parts ended up not working with my pressure washer and I had attempted to return these. What is the point in advertising a 30 day return policy, when you dont honor it? All I got was Well how do I re-sell this? and a no. Not shopping here again

I love visiting the Grayslake Ace hardware. The employees are much more helpful than the big box stores. Ace also has more variety in the products Im looking for.Today, however, an Ace Hardware employee went above and beyond when she returned my wallet to me! I visited the store around 7:30 pm on 7/9/2020. I must have accidentally left my wallet near the cashier after my purchase. I returned home without even knowing I left my wallet. Later, around 8:45 pm I heard a knock at my door and it was the cashier returning my wallet! She drove out of her way after work to return my wallet to me. This is one of the nicest things someone has done for me. Im writing this review because it was the only way I could think of thanking her.

First off let me say I love this store. Most of the people in there are helpful and knowledgeable. I understand that some people feel more comfortable wearing a mask due to the current pandemic. I choose not to wear one. A young lady with dyed red hair told me to wear a mask next time I come in. First off, it is not a law but a suggestion. Secondly, if your going to approach me as a guest than at least be consistent with your team members first. I looked around and found a few ace employees with them below their noses. Seriously, dont bother me with your opinions next time I need a paint brush.

Today, Monday, June 8, I went to Ace for a new hose and reel. I needed help because I could not find what I wanted. I asked for Scott to help me, not his department, cut he went out of his way to find the items for me. First I thought I would have to go to another store, but Scott checked the inventory and said you had both items in stock but they were not on the shelf. Scott went to the back and found exactly the hose and reel I wanted. Must thank him for going out of this way to help me and sent me home with what I wanted and made me a very happy customer.

Always take me a while to find a nut or bolt but besides that it is a pretty great place

I like Ace because I can almost always find what I need and its usually good quality. The floor staff is helpful.I dont like Ace because check out is painfully slow and the check out ladies are almost always grouchy. Some items are overpriced.

I love all the Ace Hardware stores in our area. Being one of the larger ones allows this one to be a step up due to more space for a larger selection.

A well run, locally owned hardware store. They are always pleasant and knowledgeable about what they have in stock . Speaking of which, they have almost anything you could ever need.

Usually Ace is great, but not these days. Unhelpful and grumpy workers doing the bare minimum. I was helping their customers more than the employees were. Literally.

I have always been a supporter of ace because I grew up n a small town and we had an small ace hardware and Purina thats was it. But they always had everything I needed. I recommend.

Went in to store without a mask. At checkout some KAREN had to push the CNN agenda. Was told to get out and never return. Sign for mandatory mask on door was at floor level didnt see it. Mask in truck. Said shes trying to save my life??? Lol. While killing my sons economic future. No loss ace is about 200 percent overpriced. The tone in her voice was the worst. SJW at its worst. Ill take herd immunity over herd mentality any day!!!

The helpful hardware man went into the computer to help me locate the cabinet hinge that I couldnt find in the big box stores. Unfortunately, Ace didnt have it either, but at least he made an effort to locate what I needed.

Great selection of hardware such as nuts and bolts. Little bit pricy on certain items but overall good selection of products for being a small store compared to Home depot. and Menards.

Someone is always there to help you find stuff if you need it. The staff is very knowledgeable if I need tips or advice on home projects.

Want in today with a snowblower that wouldnt start. Fully expecting to have to leave it there with a possible 12+ inches of snow coming tonight. They got it running and now Im ready. (I forgot to get the name of the gentleman that helped me. Stupid on my part.) Also a shout out to Deb for looking and finding another item I needed. This is a great store with great people working there.

There is a guy there that looks like the guy from monopoly, very rude, a Mr. know it all. and I understand that you have to stick up for your fellow employees, but, when that person is wrong and trying to make himself look good, it makes the rest look bad. Also very over priced. I mean not even close in price. Unfortunately with this place, the small town business Isnt that great.

It’s a lot easier to ask for help or suggestions on tools for certain projects compared to the big box stores. A lot more individualized attention.

I came here to pick up a pressure washer that replaced the one I purchased at the Libertyville Ace. Rich had it ready to go for me. He then asked me if I wanted one still in its original box! After answering in the affirmative, he went to the stock room and carefully inspected the inside of the box to make sure all the contents were there and undamaged. Rich also offered me several pointers on the assembly. I was throughly impressed by his knowledge and expertise. After loading the washer into my vehicle, he thanked me for my purchase and said to call him if I had questions. Rich is certainly a credit to this store and a great representative of Ace Hardware.

Took my snow blower there for service they had it sitting there for an extra 2 weeks until I called because they cant read there own handwriting. Got it back missing the snow chute. They claimed I brought it to them missing parts. Spoke with a manager of some kind, told me I was wrong and they do not have and will not replace the parts that were lost. I MUST have them. Also when I got the machine home after I very angrily walked out, they didnt reattach the hood, the spark plug was missing, the cover from the cylinder was laying in the engine compartment. Also there was grass clippings in the cylinder. Im assuming they just left it open like that in their shop. HORRIBLE. I MUST HAVE THE PARTS AT HOME... never going back.

I wanted to like this store, but I found everything disorganized and items out of stock. The items I came to buy did not have price tags, the staff were missing keys to unlock merchandise Id purchased, and I had to run to another store to finish my shopping. Was already short on time.

I went into this ace hardware with a strange problem and a strange request. I was looking for a tool that does not exist, so essentially i was trying to create my own. I needed a tool that i could use to get something unstuck that was in a strange position. One of the the store employees named Wayne walked up to me and asked if i needed help. I explained my situation to him and he actually didnt look at me like i was crazy. He took a second to think and figure out what he could do to help me. He then came up with the amazing idea to combine a few little pieces together that he had in the store, and made me my custom tool. I was very appreciative and very happy to try it out. Sure enough, i went home and it maybe took me a total of 30min, and i had got the thing i needed unstuck. It worked perfectly! Now i can ride my new bike :) Thank you so much Wayne and you deserve this review and more, because you dont see customer service like this anymore, and we should all appreciate it!

Such a convenient hardware store. Employees are friendly and always asking you if you need help. Yes, indeed, I do need help as fast checkouts always seem to be an exception rather than the norm so perhaps the employees should spend more time eyeing the checkouts or management should plan accordingly. Your Round Lake and Libertyville locations never seem to be a problem. And yes, I left the merchandise on the checkout counter today and went to your competitor after some missing SKU caused the register to stop as not only the shopper but an employee went searching. Ace sells convenience, not often price, so if you are selling convenience, make sure the customers find it quick and convenient when checking out.

They are experienced and knowledgeable in different areas.

If you are looking for help and knowledge about tools, lawn care, go to Menards or Home Depot. you can go to Harbor Freight for half the price and same quality, but for knowledge staff members.
