Im in the co-op at least 4-6 times a week. The staff there is knowledgeable and friendly. Zack does a great job keeping the carts clean and sanitized. Jenny and the other office managers are always available to answer my questions. Ashley, Michelle, and the deli staff treat me like a friend and not just another number. The people at check out are efficient and cap off a pleasant time

Such a cute grocery store, but surprised by how much they fit in there! Prices are reasonable, they have a kitchen in the back, I didnt purchased a pre-made sandwich but will next time as they looked hire quality than at what you get at a conventional, chain grocery store like Giant or Safeway. They also have these pre-made food bags to help people in need that you can purchase and they take it straight to the facility, super convenient so we bought one right there. I love businesses that are involved in the community.

The Greenbelt Co-op is a special place. Ive been shopping there exclusively for a year now. The staff are friendly and helpful and even offered to set up custom in-bulk produce orders to satisfy my voracious appetite for fresh vegetables. This morning the card readers and ATM were down and I only had $12 in cash, but two of the cashiers paid the difference for me out of their own pockets, no questions asked. Where else does this happen?

I would be remiss if I did not use this opportunity to single out one particular employee for praise. I first encountered Michelle several months ago at a new position for her, cashier. Previously she had worked in the deli department. My first inkling of the idea that I should be singing her praises came when she was the first cashier in my 12+ years of shopping here that asked had I found everything I was looking for!!! Which she said with a friendly smile!!! As a lifelong employee & manager of retail (mostly in bookstores) customer service is the end-all -ll-be-all to me as a customer. Michelle was professional, courteous, & proficient during checkout...precisely the kind of employee I would have killed for was I was manager!!!

I have to say that Im rounding up. Ive been shopping at the co-op for years now. Its always been kind of 70/30 sort of a thing. Most of the cashiers there are quite friendly and know the difference between a time where they can chat with a customer or when they have to zoom on by.My biggest complaint is they often stop buying food that seems popular (if a gap on the shelf is anything to go by) and then they stop supplying it. My second biggest complaint is the majority of their stocking clerks in dairy and dry goods are slow and take up a good portion of the aisle. Lastly, Ive had issue a of finding food with a past by sell by date in the produce, meat, and dairy isle. However the pharmacy is excellent as is the deli counter. Their beer and wine selection is shockingly good for their size and I can find wine and beer that I cant find anywhere else.In general Im able to find what I need with a few extra quirks, both good and bad. 3 1/2 stars would be the closest rating but the new management and how the entire store tackled the 2020 pandemic has impressed me.

We came here first for the pharmacy after we were tired of CVS screwing up orders. These guys were quick, efficient, and within only two days already know our names and info before we even say anything. The grocery store itself? Again, fantastic. Small compared to the big markets, but its layout makes for a cozy home experience. Everyone there was amazing, and signing up for a membership was easy and super beneficial for us. Were pretty much kids compared to everyone else there, and for some reason, it just makes it quaint? Like a small town. The food? I love their pork ribs BBQ sandwiches. Always buy them on visits. The selection of food variety and brands are surprising. Youd expect a supermarket like Safeway to carry a wider set of food types but these guys had items we were looking for and had no idea if they were even sold there. It makes us want to buy different brands they have just to see whats out there.Overall it was a phenomenal experience, and I know I probably sound like one of those travel reviewers, but this is a rare time where my wife and I really appreciated the place. Definitely a permanent stop for us.

I love my Co-op because of the people. Recently I observed a neighbor who is disabled and slow in getting her words and thoughts together. I have known her for a long time and so impressed that the staff treated her as if there was no disability - Respect. I do like the way the store is set out. It seems you can carry a lot for a small store. As a limited walker this is very appreciated. Many times I have found things I needed that I couldnt in the larger box stores. In the past I have found produce that was not worth the purchase but it has improved. The pharmacy staff have always gone beyond my previous experience of other stores. The will take the time to explain or present options that helps in my care. They always extend themselves to help their customers and I have seen this over the years as I wait for my medication. I really love my Co-op!

At first glance the Coop appears to be a bit dated, but start scanning the shelves and youll find a wide assortment of food for customers of all stripes, plenty of value items for sure, and an abundance of organic, specialty, and local products as well. We do almost all of our grocery shopping here, knowing that we are supporting a local cooperatively run business whose profits go back to the members (anyone can join!) instead of to faceless executives who get big bonuses and payouts.

This review is for the pharmacy only. We live in the coop and would like to support local businesses but our experience with the pharmacy was unacceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for compassionate, timely customer service to go elsewhere.I called the pharmacy looking to transfer some prescriptions from another pharmacy. I was told on the phone to come in to the pharmacy because they did not want to take down my information via phone. I went down to the pharmacy with my prescriptions and was told it would take 15 minutes for them to take down my information. I returned 15 minutes later, and they hadnt recorded my information. I waited for another 15 minutes and was told they had my information and I needed to come back two days later for more information on the transfer. I came back two days later, and the pharmacist had not called in the transfer. The pharmacist later called me and said they would not call in the transfer because the prescription had been filled. I tried to explain that they needed to transfer the prescription over from the other pharmacy, but at that point I decided to take my business elsewhere.Throughout the process, I felt that the pharmacy was not interested in obtaining our business and was not sympathetic to the fact we just wanted our prescriptions transferred and filled. Considering the numerous great options in the area, go elsewhere.

Co-op is the neighborhood grocery store of historic Old Greenbelt, one of the cooperatives founded after the planned town was built during the New Deal. Its a small grocery store, but responsive to its members--anyone can join as a member, but you dont have to be a member to shop there!--so theres more variety on the shelves than youd expect. There are plenty of organic and specialty items, but also basic and budget stuff. Unlike almost all groceries in Prince Georges County, the Co-op carries wine and beer.If you join the Co-op, you get an annual dividend based on how much you shopped there, and a vote in decisions. We recently raised money to put solar panels on the roof!Greenbelt is a small town, so those of us who live here never go to the Co-op without seeing someone we know.

My grocery shopping is split between three supermarket: one near home, and then this is one of two near work... of the three, this is undoubtedly my preferred given its local business orientation.Ive had great luck with their fruits in the middle non-refrigerated bins (bananas, tomatoes, clementines, etc.) but less-so with the refrigerated food.Ive had particular difficulties with finding good packs of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries during those seasons. The Co-Op does stock Turkey Hill Tea & Honest Tea -- two particular loves of mine; and the hot food is convenient & tasty.Prices are generally comparable or lower than mainstream supermarkets.

Im extremely disappointed by the Greenbelt Co-op Supermarket. We live in the old Greenbelt, so its very convenient to shop there and we have been going every single week for a few years now. The staff has always been neutral or unfriendly. At first, I thought it was because we were new there, and we liked the convenience, but it has become clear now that they are just that. Unfriendly. So I dont know if its because they dont like younger people (because I see interactions with other older customers and I see them being friendly to them) or if you just have to be a good customer for more than 3 years, but Im just done. Today I watched in total disbelief 6 members of the staff (6! I counted them!) look at me, one of them even said hi, while I was waiting to be served at the deli. Not one of them offered help. Not one. Out of the 6. Unbelievable. And its not the first time either. The convenience of the location is just not worth the higher prices, limited choices and unfriendliness of the staff. Im not surprised that they are having trouble keeping a customer base when I see how I was treated. I will not be going back.

A casual and friendly neighborhood store, the Greenbelt Co-op features a pharmacy, fresh-baked bread and desserts, a soup bar, beer and wine aisle, community bulletin board, Greenbelt clothing gear, and more; it really has a bit of a variety-store feel. Earth-conscious, vegan, and fair-trade enthusiasts will be happy with many of the items carried here, but even if this isnt you, you should do fine. (The generic brands here are also pretty good.) While slightly more expensive than Safeway, the Co-ops prices are more in league with theirs than with other stores which carry organic and earthy brands, and very often I will find myself shopping there because I dont feel like facing the world at large, makeup and normal clothes. I run into one or another friendly face among the local eccentrics who shop here, and a trip to the Ol Greenbelt Co-op rarely fails to pick me up. Check it out! (But if they dont carry what you came in for- it IS a small store- you can fill out a request for the item to be carried in the future.)

They have an increasingly large selection of organic, vegetarian, and natural items and the staff is knowledgeable and mostly friendly (there are one or two who are less so). Its amazing what they fit into their space, which is nice because I hate having to tromp a quarter mile across the Safeway.Im lucky to live near it! For more unusual products, I also go to MOMs Organic Market in College Park, but the Coop meets nearly all of my needs.
