Still a very good hotdog but I do believe they are using a different slaw now. Even though I eat mine all the way the old slaw they used was much better. Still love the place and the staff working was wonderful. Great personality from most and especially one young man that took the money. Would be a five star if they used the old slaw recipe.

This is a fantastic place for old-school Southern hot dogs. The chili and slaw melding to hug a bright red hot dog is something you have to try. Its just hot dogs, ice cream, bottled sodas, and bags of chips, here. They stick to what they know and the results are delicious. Its like stepping back in time, in a good way.

Stopped by to get a big box of dogs and several pints of ice cream for a special birthday party. Each of the five different dog condiment combinations were uniquely marked for easy identification. Grabbed a small handful of napkins and a larger handful of Texas Pete. Attached is the current price list as of 8/11/21. And yes, they now take credit cards.

Incredibly friendly and attentive service in a overtly welcoming/laid-back/comfortable environment, quick order turnaround (*lines are common but move stunningly fast without sacrificing courtesy or accuracy), basic fare but of excellent quality at more-than-reasonable prices (*particularly delicious milkshakes), great corner location with good visibility from the abutting street, long and lauded history in the community, clean facilities, indoor/outdoor seating, local favorite, wholly nice experience overall. Limited parking on site. Recommended fully.

My son and I went for hot dogs and ice cream, they were both very good. I also liked that they were friendly/professional and there wasnt a long wait even tho they were busy.

Yum Yums is a staple of the area. Its a great, place with cheap hotdogs and cheap ice cream. Prices have increased a little over the last couple of years, but still reasonable.Definitely worth the stop in to check it out.

Good ice cream and portions. Guy behind the counter was very nice and helpful. Very laidback place that’s great to go to hang out and talk with friends. I do wish there were more flavors though. Still a very nice community spot. Would recommend!

I visited this restaurant today for lunch. Upon arriving they seem to moderately busy. I noticed that there was no handicap disability access ramp to the store as one lady with a wheeled walker had to get assistance coming down the two steps at the front door. I had to make two attempts to get in with my miniature horse service animal, but we made it in relatively safely. I had two hot dogs with mustard and chili. The food was delicious and I had a cone of mint ice cream afterward. The ice cream was equally delicious. The prices were fair and I would recommend stopping here if you have time and youre in the area. I hope that the store will add an access ramp for others with disabilities in the future. Thats the only reason I am writing this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5. No handicap, disability assisted access is kind of a downer when my service animal comes close to getting injured trying to leave due to no ramp.

I have always enjoyed going here since I was a kid. I dont go often, but its always a good experience, and feels like youre walking into a different time. Its practically an institution here in Greensboro, and a relic from the past, but the food is good, the price is right, and the service is friendly.

My father taught at UNCG. I was a faculty brat. I grew up with the campus as a playground. I started eating at Yum Yum back in the late 60s. The location has changed but the unnatural pink color and snap of their great hot dogs hasnt. Ill admit that the dogs are what draw me to Yum Yum. Im not going to criticize the ice cream because I havent eaten much of it. The hot dogs, loaded, are the best around. 5 star hot dogs all the time at Yum Tums!

Hot dogs were still amazing.The Oreo ice cream is definitely changed. They give you half as much and the flavor is not good anymore.Very different than the yum yums Ive grown up with.Maybe a bad batch? Even my 2 kids said it was very different and not as good.New owner changing the recipe? I hope not.

Nice place for hot dogs and ice cream. I love the vintage look this place has. I remember being here long before covid times and it was always fun to see everyone lining up to get a quick bite. I live in Charlotte now but whenever Im here Im glad to stop in and enjoy the food.

Wish I could give this place more stars, but the hot dogs were pretty sad and the ice cream we tried was flavorless and sad. Maybe we went on an off day? They get one star for nice staff, one star for the cheerwine and one star for being an interesting old restaurant.

This place can get crowded. But the staff here are very fast. The prices include tax. I find it interesting that the hot dogs have a pink color. The ice cream has seasonal flavors. Its creamy and delicious. I bought a peach ice cream and nice sized chunks were present. There is a atm near the store since it cash only but there is a fee. No fries are sold here and the menu is pretty limited. Its essentially 3 hot dogs just varied. Chips, soda and ice cream are sold. This place closes pretty early so its great for snack or a light lunch. The atmosphere is very inviting.

This place is a Greensboro and UNCG staple with amazingly cheap and delicious 🌭 hot dogs and homemade ice cream. The 🍦 ice cream flavors are always new and exciting and the hot dogs go down easier with an ice cold Cheerwine in a glass bottle. It has a 50s diner feel because the building is that old. Service is fast and friendly. Make sure you bring cash but there is also an ATM next to the store. This is a must stop!

Im blunt from here so I dont know about the competition but the hot dogs were good. The chili was good. Nice people working here. No complaints or improvements from me. It was affordable and I like it. This place is a staple in the community and has been here for decades. Seems everyone has a story of coming here, growing up, in college, hanging out to meet friends. It is worth stopping by if you want a hot dog and or some ice cream. Nice nostalgic atmosphere.

During my week visit to North Carolina, I learned that this state knows its hot dogs. I ate way too many good hot dogs while I was there. Yum Yums was no exception. A soft, steamy bun perfectly accentuated a tender, juicy dog--one that is perhaps off-putting in how red it is, but you accept that quickly. I cant speak for the ice cream, but the dog was on point. Im sad my parents and I could only split a dog as a snack, but what I had was tasty. The restaurant is definitely a dive and definitely older, and it shows--but the food was tasty and the people who took our order chatted with us about UNCG and gave us some helpful tips. Yum Yums is definitely a Greensboro icon and rightly so!

I attended UNCG from 1986-1990. Yum Yum was my absolute favorite while there. I still remember the hotdogs and lemon ice cream to this day. I have yet to find any hotdogs in Charlotte close to what I experienced at Yum Yum. And I cant find their lemon ice cream anywhere. The love of my life and I went there whenever he was in town. And he loved them just as much as I did. Thanks Yum Yum for such wonderful memories.
