There’s no competing with coffee underground; it’s the perfect place to bring family, friends, or have a casual meeting. The quiet cozy environment always has a warm friendly vibe, and the fare never misses!! Josh makes the best lattes in town and always has my order ready when he sees me in the building! Service like the coffee underground has to offer is a RARE delight! A gem of an establishment
A downtown Greenville staple, located down a flight of stairs at the corner of Coffee St. and Main in the heart of it all. Exposed brick and well worn seating await you for some quiet reading or a group meet up after dinner.Coffee quality is solid and the food options are better than you’d expect for a coffee shop. A dessert case offers slices of pie, cheesecake, carrot cake, brownies, cookies, and other baked good like scones. I recommend the cinnamon scone!Service is usually quick and the staff are friendly in an unobtrusive way.
I have so many memories of this place from my childhood and I recently went for lunch. The coffee drinks are still amazing, especially the frozen black tiger. Lunch took 15 minutes to get from the time we placed our order, which was a salad and a sandwich. They were out of chicken salad on the day we went. Overall this place has lost a bit of the charm from what I remember, but its still a local gem. Also, I wish they had more gluten free bakery options.
Always a fun place to stop into. They understand when you ask for a Starbucks type coffee.... Laughed at my jokes. Clean survive a Lil run down, perhaps part of the charm.
I havent been to Coffee Underground in several years and it hasnt changed a bit. While it is wonderful to have a consistent experience, I wouldnt hate to see some of the seating refurbished or updated. Love the couch vibe, but theyve been around a while and could use a refresh. Coffee and tea is still the same great quality Im used to. ✨
I absolutely loved coffee underground! I came in yesterday for the first time and I really enjoyed it. The lattes, the service, the atmosphere was amazing! I will be back soon .
Good quality, amazing atmosphere in a below grade store front. Good selection of food and espresso beverages. Crowd is vibrant and young.
My wife, cousin, and I wanted breakfast in the local area (as were from Tampa) and saw this restaurant had outdoor seating. The Service staff was as exceptional as the food...best ever egg and sausage barrito. Met the owners daughter and had a lovely conversation. Would highly recommend.
Nice spot to grab coffee and a baked good. Good service, good coffee, the kids liked their fancy mint hot chocolate. The desserts were pricey for what they were, the apple cider pie was small and just okay for the price.
Always have a nice experience here. Best place for coffee in Greenville and they have some super tasty desserts as well. The atmosphere is very relaxing and chill, its a great place to sit and work, go on a quiet date, or just sit and talk with friends.
I always enjoy myself here. Ill go in the afternoon for coffee and quiet reading. Coffee is very good. Food good. Desserts great. People nice
Cool, underground coffee shop. The coffee and croissant I had were both good and not too expensive. The dining room is much bigger than I expected so there were plenty of tables (many with access to outlets) for working. Lots of different options for seating too; couches, booths, small tables, large tables
Nice and quiet place to enjoy coffee and a bite of breakfast.
Really cool place on Coffee Street just off Main Street. Its tucked away around the corner and down stairs. Good coffee (drip and espresso) with a variety of breakfast and cafe food as well as desserts and baked goods. They serve alcohol and have interesting cocktails, from adult milkshakes to hot cocktails. We just had their drip coffee and warmed chocolate chip and cinnamon scones.
It was great drinks and nice clean area. But our server was a bit rude because we didnt have enough room it was a four person table and we had six people. But I loved it and they have great coffee and would be a great place for a date or a brunch.
Very cool coffee house. Walk down the stairs from street level, to a cozy coffee oasis. This place is hopping. I found a line to the door. It was probably the tasty coffee drinks or the delicious baked treats. Cookies, cheesecake, brownies, and strawberry cake are just a few of the delicacies you can pair with your cup o joe. If you are downtown Greenville and in need of a caffeine fix this is a great spot.
This is a cool little spot. We came to have dessert for dinner and enjoyed it. I got the apple pie and it was really good. We had our children with us and while it is not really a place that caters to children, mine were very happy with their strawberry sundaes. I would definitely come here again to hang out with friends and enjoy simple but yummy food.
Loved the Red Room - atmosphere is great, and Angel was THE BEST. He found the beverage I wanted and prepped it to perfection! Thank you!
This place. I really dont know where to start on this place. Here goes: I absolutely love this coffee shop. They have amazing drinks and decent food for what youre paying for, the service staff are always very friendly and quick, they make drinks quickly even while in rushes, the chairs are all comfortable, the atmosphere is amazing, and the location cant be beat anywhere. They have a very large and diverse menu and they are surprisingly cheap for what and where they are. I 100% recommend anyone to this shop and take several people that I know on a regular basis.
Delicious drinks, cozy and interesting atmosphere, plenty of seating, and food options ranging from breakfast plates to milkshakes.
Laid back atmosphere and amazing coffee.
Great atmosphere and and the coffee and food were great too. There was always a line of people placing orders, but it moved very well. There were tables and chairs outside for people to sit at. They also had a water bowl for anyone who had a dog that was thirsty.
On vacation and found this lovely coffee shop with a great atmosphere and DELICIOUS breakfast ! Staff was super friendly. Highly recommend.
Very nice place for coffee, deserts or a light meal. Everything they have is delicious. Great relaxed atmosphere and wonderful staff.
This place is great for a quick breakfast or to dine in with a cozy atmosphere. I love their smoothies and coffee.
Food and coffee was good but if you’re planning to do work with wifi here don’t. Can’t even connect to it because it is so insecure.
Had a custom drink order and they made it exactly how we wanted it! Very thankful to have a vader the same way they make it at Drip in Columbia.
An interesting venue. Kinda quirky. I can appreciate it though not necessarily my cup of tea or coffee. Thats probably because Im a grandfather not a college student. Stop in for a visit. Youll have a good time, but you might want to leave grandma at home. 😉
A staple of downtown and completely unique experience. Must go. Consistently has excellent in coffee and brunch. I’d highly recommend their lattes and mochas to anyone. Music is well selected and has a great bohemian atmosphere. Some comedy entertainment options at nights with alcohol available. My only wish is that they would update their couches as their best years are clearly behind them.
Defiantly one of my favorite places to pig out in Greenville. Super sweet staff and the desserts are phenomenal!!
Coffee was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. I got iced beast. My girlfriend got the hot frog and it was a bit sweeter than we are used to. Otherwise it was a great atmosphere. Cozy little shop
Great atmosphere and friendly people. The prices were were great as well about $2.75 for an iced coffee.
Really good drinks, some fun designs on their hot drinks when u dine in and its a really nice atmosphere.
Great place to get coffee and chill. Our server Brooklyn was really nice too. I highly recommend this place if youre looking for a good place to get coffee at.
Our waitress was super nice and patient while we decided what to eat. Not too busy and a very good sitting area. A little over priced but I feel like you are kind of paying for the atmosphere with the few extra bucks you spend compared to a chain coffee place.
Amazing gem of a place! Food is awesome and coffee variety can’t be beat! I got the lady bug mocha which is a latte with mocha and raspberry. Would highly recommend and would get it again! The build your own breakfast sandwich creates endless choices and breakfast is ALL day! When I got my sandwich, it was evident that it was made fresh and not from a freezer and heated up. My cousin got the pancakes which also were great as they were from a scratch batter and nothing store bought for bulk processing. The pancakes came in three and were not obnoxiously large. She finished all of them and isn’t a huge eater. She said the bacon was perfect - not too done and not chewy either. Can’t wait to go back and try more food! The water station is self serve. You can get a carafe is you want to for the table. Also, there is a bussing station where you toss your own plates.Definitely a place that feel comfortable and private if you needed to study or have an intimate meeting/date. Many different seating options as well!
Best local coffee shop in Greenville. Love the staff and the atmosphere.
Best iced coffee Ive ever had. Fast service. In and out in 5 minutes but the atmosphere makes you want to stay. It has a speakeasy lounge feeling. 10/10
Visiting from honolulu, super juicy tasty burger, big portion of hot fresh fries..clean, really friendly staff..easy to order
Amazing spot for coffee, pastries and small breakfast bites.
Amazing atmosphere. Excellent coffee. I had the quiche and it was delicious. We spent 5 days in Greenville and we went to Underground Coffe 3 times.
Oil little outof the way place...nice to relax
Just love this place. open mic night is a blast
The guy taking our order seemed agitated that we were there and didnt know the menu, shouldnt be in customer contact position. Coffee was good, breakfast was not worth close to what they charge. If you are someone who just wants a place to sit with your laptop this might be the place for you, if you want good food and service, good luck
Best coffee we had in Greenville and the food looked good but we didnt try any. We preferred Coffee Underwood over the coffee at Spill the Beans although both are pretty good.
Service was awesome just upset that I couldnt get my bistro burger because they were out of buns and pattys.
My chai was very good. The environment this coffee shop has truly adds to the awesome place Greenville is!
What an unexpected delight! The vibe is relaxing, the decor is eclectic, and I will visit again!
Comfortable experience just to sit down and relax and have a cup of coffee. Its nice place to visit when youre downtown Greenville...plus its underground.
Hot day, cool space, cool drinks! Whats not to like?
This place is so cute!😍 perfect for dates or girls days or just getting a bite to eat!
Pretty nice coffee shop! coming from a barista: i ordered a caramel latte, espresso was good, caramel was good, milk had a very nice texture but burnt just by a couple degrees nothing noticeable by the average customer. tried the black drip and it was also good. staff could’ve been a little bit friendlier but they weren’t rude or anything.
I stopped in after a year of living nearby. I moved from Michigan and unfortunately havent had much time to walk around downtown greenville. The reason I mention this is because the coffee I got rivaled some of the best coffee Ive ever had when on a Coffee Tour of Grand Rapids in Michigan. The entrance to the shop was very cool, and I loved the vibe of a hidden coffee shop. I went in with high expectations and I still was blown out of the water. The customer service was fantastic, and all the employes I interacted with were friendly, even though they were busy. The coffee itself was incredible. I got a Mocha with extra espresso, and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was ready in no time, very quick customer service. The menu was expansive, and I am looking forwards to visiting again and trying more of their selection. On top of all the options, everything was very decent price, which honestly kind of surprised me as I was expecting it to be more expensive. I highly, highly, recommend that you stop in.
A very together place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere
A wonderful place I would recommend you try this place great atmosphere
Perfect atmosphere great coffee and side items
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in the country!
I come here every weekend to do my homework- it is such an awesome spot with cool people behind the counter- their cheesecake and coffee are both top tier. They also serve bfast, lunch, and dinner and have poetry and comedy nights! I could spend all day here. There’s also always so much space. One warning is that their wifi isn’t the greatest, so be sure to have a good hotspot if you don’t want to be disappointed. I still come back to do work nevertheless, because it is my favorite coffee shop in Greenville!
The gentleman Chris was an amazing host he made me the best coffee Ive ever had at a great price love the place will be back
Really nice place, coffee was exactly as I ordered and enough seating for all
This place is one of my favorites! Fair prices, big portions and the employees are constantly friendly.
Fast friendly service nice atmosphere.
Open poetry on Sunday nights. Great outing
The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the environment had a very cozy and relaxed atmosphere. A great place to have a breakfast, or snack.
Prices are really good for the area
Very welcoming and comfortable.
Love it, great menu, cozy feel and friendly staff. A go to for me, since I work downtown. Also, they have GREAT prices, especially when you consider the coffee is so much better than the chains!
Very friendly! Great coffee, with plenty of variety! Unique underground atmosphere unlike any other coffee shop I’ve been too. I just move to SC and it’s my favorite place to go to when I go into downtown Greenville.
I only dropped in for snack and some coffee, but both were great. Being in the basement adds a unique feel to the whole place and the Classic Cafe Mocha was great. Sweet chocolate flavor initially with a nice espresso follow up. Not too foamy. Smooth overall. Had a brownie with a cream cheese icing filling and chocolate icing on top. It was delicious. My only complaint was that it was cramped but it was filled/packed so not unsurprising. Line moved fast for a coffee place.Overall, got a ice drip coffee medium, medium cafe Mocha, and brownie for ~$10.
Coffee was great at this underground place. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. Cool vibe and great staff!
A Greenville classic! First place a visited in Greenville in 2004 and had so many memories here sense.
Gorgeous interior, lots of seating and outlets. I had the peanut butter mocha; it was rich and not too sweet. I will be back!
Loved the veggie omelette and toasted croissant. Calm and inviting place!
Very nice ambiance. Cool place for a small bite to eat and very good coffee.
Nice place to sit and enjoy a very good turtle(Carmel) mocha. Couldnt tell you about any of the others, tried their turtle mocha and that was it.
Try their London Fog/anything ITS AMAZING! The atmosphere is amazing too- very good place to study and shout out to the one guy who played ukulele there... pure talent
Great coffee outstanding cake
I love the ambiance of Coffee Underground, it’s very cozy with great warm lighting. I had a Lucky Charm Latte and the Tiramisu and it was amazing! Our server, Sophie was so sweet and attentive. I will definitely come back in the future!
