Been in there twice. The first time just to look around a couple months ago, and the second just before Christmas to purchase a guitar. Yes, the owner is knowledgeable and opinionated. He was never rude and actually spent a good bit of time talking about guitars and playing. He does like to talk and he is direct. Thats just some peoples personality however doesnt make them rude.

Excellent service. This gentleman knows EXACTLY whats going on. Every 1 star review came from someone ignorant and broke trying to waste this guys time. Hes a REAL PROFESSIONAL. Go in here with a BUYERS mindset.

I have been shopping at Greenville Guitars for at least 15 years and with the same owner. I always have had the best shopping experience here. The owner is a very knowledgeable and pleasant man who is fair and honest.He also enjoys conversation. Always pleasant to talk with him.

Almost a decade ago I went into this store looking for a cheap guitar I could write songs on while I was traveling, I explained to the owner I played music full-time and what I needed and instead of selling me a guitar he berated me saying I was lying and did not play music for a living asking what It said on my tax return.Musician I said.. he replied OK come back In 10 years and tell me what it says.I never came back...Ive been living my dream for 15 years. This guy left a mark on a young ambitious musican that I still remember to this day.keep the next generation of musicians away from this store.

I have never met a more knowledgeable, or fairer dealing person than Blaine Hampton. I have purchased numerous instruments from him. He exemplifies why one should purchase a stringed instrument from a local dealer than off the Internet. There is not a better place to buy your instrument..!

Wouldnt be surprised if the reviews over 1 star were from friends/family or were paid for. The owner is not helpful and is explosive. Talking to the owner for longer than 30 seconds will make you want to tear your ears off and punch him. This store has the worst customer service of any music store in Greenville. The only reason to step foot in this store is to buy an overpriced Martin Guitar. Act deaf or you will regret it.

Went in for the first time ever today and I was very impressed by Mr. Blaine and his store. Hes more of a historian than a Guitar Store Shopkeeper, and I was very interested in all of the knowledge he had to offer. I like that he actually has an opinion to offer (regardless of if it matches mine or not) and I appreciate the fact that he has a storefront to go in and enjoy! Ill be back with my wallet for something vintage very soon.

Im currently in the early stages of learning, and have not ever felt put off when asking an uninformed question. Rather, I take that opportunity to listen and learn from the owner and operator of the shop.If you have very thin skin, and get very easily offended when someones opinion doesnt coincide with yours, then perhaps you should shop online. SOMEBODY will agree with you, if you search there long enough.I appreciate the brick and mortar independent business owners that are still around.Whether you like the owners opinions or not, it sure beats buying your things online, or in a big box chain store where the chances of finding anyone that knows anything about their inventory, much less have a real opinion about their wares.But, if you are open to possibly learning something, and having a chance to see some interesting pieces, this is the place!

The most knowledgeable guitar expert in eastern USA.....dont look for candy coating....but the real deal and you will be more than happy!

I stopped in yesterday to look over the shop.... What a selection of incredible new and vintage guitars... I am a beginner guitar player... I have a few guitars now and I am looking for a premium Martin.... He has the one I want... I asked about a D-41 on display several times and he didnt even offer to show it to me... I asked for advice regarding the quality differences and he made me feel as if I was intruding on his vast knowledge... And that I wasnt welcome to his expert opinion.... We spent more time talking politics and Trump than we did guitars... Imwas prepared to buy what I wanted but I dont think I will be buying there... Still looking for the right shop to spend my money in to get the Martin I want.... Too bad... I was standing 10 feet from what I want and couldnt touch it...

Went in with my tax refund, ready to buy a guitar. Instead I was patrionized and put down for my budget and questions. To top it off, he made fun of me for wearing a sports team that he apparently doesnt like. I simply wanted to get back into guitar playing. Terrible customer service.

Extremely surprised by the service and instruments on hand!! I had been to quite a few places looking for the right resonator guitar and havent been able to find any. I had been told not to go to greenville guitars because customer service was aweful and the owner was horrible to deal with, that was not the case today. I was instantly offered assistance. After listening and asking me a few questions he brought me one he had behind the counter, tuned it and played a few chords. It was exactly what I was looking for. Couldnt have had better service. Will diffently be shopping there for all my needs, not the other guys . Thank you Mr. Blaine.
