Upon entry we was introduced and my boyfriend and I chose to sit near the back. He ordered the chicken salad with sweet potato fries and I ordered French toast with a side of turkey bacon, sunny side eggs and home fries. Also, we ordered the FRESHLY SQUEEZE orange juice. All I can say is WOW ! Even though my boyfriends sweet potato fries were soggy, he enjoyed the salad. The chicken was nicely grilled and to a good crisp. Breakfast ..... BEAUTIFUL ! We both would certainly come back to Putnam again !
Food was good. The prices were great. The service was so so. Not the best place but, not bad by any means.
It may not look like much from the outside but what a find! The food is excellent and the service personable. This is a family run business amongst all the high end competing restaurants and shops. Prices are reasonable and food is good. The deserts are a must. The coconut cake with ice cream was very generous and some of the best I have had!
I dont understand how there are so many great reviews of the food. The servers were really nice, but the food was pretty bad. The gyro in the gyro platter I ordered wasnt gyro, it was thin, long patties of very finely ground meat, all of them very uniform, so probably not made in the restaurant. And the server said it was lamb, but it didnt taste like lamb, although that could be due to the fact that it was highly processed meat. The fries werent great, also tasted like they were bought and not made at the restaurant. My husband ordered the Reuben sandwich and said the corned beef tasted like low quality, canned corned beef.I guess it was too good to be true, a restaurant with great food and low prices on Greenwich Ave. I dont live in the state but if I visit again I wont be going to Putnam Restaurant unfortunately.
Had the blueberry pancakes for my birthday breakfast. They were phenomenal ! Light fluffy with a little crisp and sweetness. Perfect pancake! The poached eggs on the side completed a great breakfast!
Waitress makes you feel welcome… Really Cool 😎 place…
I absolutely love this diner. Its extremely close to my job, it has amazing food and the people that work there are so super nice. Seriously, even if the food was not all that great, WHICH IT IS, I would go here because the lady that took my order and waited on me was so pleasant. A rarity these days. Check it out, its worth it.
Great service, delicious food and well priced.
Traditional diner fare in the middle of Greenwich Ave. A true throwback gem. Friendly staff and delicious food.
Always good food and a great value.
Very good. Food and service was excellent
This is a great breakfast spot! I also love ordering out for a quick burger and fries or salad here because they offer quick and easy delivery! Their Mini Turkey Burgers come without a bun so a great gluten-free option! In the mornings at breakfast they always come and ask if you need more coffee which reminds me of being at diners as a kid and I absolutely love it.
Delicious food and great service. Had the Chef’s Treat and it was all so good. Eggs cooked perfectly, juicy sausage, crispy bacon and tasty hash. The home fries were great too.Friendly service, good coffee, will be back!
Ive always ordered to go from this restaurant, Ive never dined in. The omelettes here are are amazing and the food is consistently good. The other day I ordered a chicken Cobb salad but didnt realize I should have specified what dressing I wanted-also, instead of the classic lettuce, the salad contained only spinach. I was expecting more of a classic Cobb. Chicken was great however and the ingredients tasted pretty fresh.
My dining experience high quality food. Invariably the food is tasty and well prepared. Reasonable cost with hospitable atmosphere. Thanku so much for a wonderful dining
Great food and lovely people
The food is amazing here and the service is one of a kind. They did an excellent job with the meals and the service staff are super nice too.
Excellent food and service.
Lovely place with homemade like food !! Enjoyed our trip to CT from NYC and picked a great spot to have a dinner!! Chiken parm was delicious!! Thank you for your service and warm welcoming !!
Old school good diner
Very busy and the service was not good.
The food is terrible, do not go here - my 90 year old grandma could do better.
My daughter and I had lunch here. Very clean, and all staff wore masks. Funky diner feel with cool counter seating and booths. Outdoor seating, with heaters, available and in use, even on a chilly day.Staff was incredibly friendly and polite. Food was ready in less than ten minutes. An AMAZING monte cristo sandwich and delicious burger, both with hot, crispy, tasty fries. Will absolutely return. Open 365 days, and serving breakfast all day!!A gem on Greenwich Ave!!
This place is horrible the manager ways got a attitude food is cold waitress they ways got a attitude I recommend nobody go to this restaurant
Putnams been a staple in Greenwich for as long as I can remember. It has tons of great menu items, ones ranging from its latin food to classic sandwiches like its gyro and its reuben. I cant recommend it more, as the value of the food in central Greenwich, together with its quality, is second to none.
Well I and the 2 knuckle heads. We are back for our breakfast on Wednesday early morning. And we all love this place!!!!!!!!!.without a doubt its truely nothing but the best 👌
Great breakfast choices. Yummy! Great service. Fast and friendly 😊
I grew up in Greenwich, and never knew this restaurant existed until now. When my cousin told me about this while we were on our way there, I asked him how long it had been there. He told me forever! When I got to the restaurant I was very intrigued to know how long the restaurant was really there. I asked the waiter how long its been there, and he told me forever. I looked around and thought maybe thats their slogan. The Greenwich restaurant thats been here forever!I was recently there with two cousins for a late lunch. I was pleasantly pleased! The service and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, I dont live in Greenwich anymore. But when I come back in town so, this is definitely my new place to stop.
My breakfast burrito was really bad. The chorizo tasted like potatoes, so it was basically a potato burrito, and it fell apart so I had to eat it with a fork and knife. My wifes tuna melt was very good though so I settled on 3 stars
Great food and service!
Good coffee... great corned beef hash..!!!
Love the food. Everything was amazing and the service is top notch. Cant complain about anything.
Awesome lunch! Chorizo hash with eggs is spot on. Great atmosphere, good service and fun location.
Great food and friendly staff and excellent service
The food here is superb! It is very fresh and always is tasteful! The employees are very accommodating and making any necessary provisions you need for your order.
My son and I were on our way up north to Boston, we encountered traffic, and we decided to get lunch. Zero regrets with our decision. The restaurant is very cozy, clean, and great atmosphere. The food was great and so were the prices. The gentleman managing the place took excellent care of us, very friendly, professional, and personal service. Ill definitely be stopping by any time in find myself in the New England area. This restaurant in a small gem in Greenwich.
Outstanding breakfast. Everything was prepared perfectly and arrived hot. Great restaurant.
My husband felt sick after eating there!
Best homemade Corned Beef 🥩 Hash Ever !!!! Plus awesome prices for Greenwich Connecticut 👍🏾
This place sells a real Reuben. Its a good Reuben. Its not a pretentious place, it just serves up the food you want, the way you expect. Seriously, its a good Reuben.
Excellent old style diner/restaurant. My eggs were perfectly cooked, the hash browns were soft and tender inside, and crispy and brown on the outside. The Belgian waffle was perfectly done and so hot the butter melted (which is very rare, as they cool off so quickly). The waitress was efficient and friendly. My new go to diner in Greenwich.
Best diner food in Greenwich at prices that beat anything on the avenue
Classic diner, with friendly professional people. I have come in on my own and with the whole family, for a quick snack or a full dinner. Theyve got everything you would want. You dont find many places like this anymore, especially on the Avenue.
Best diner in Greenwich.
Stopped by for breakfast and am thrilled that I did. Nicole and her dad ( proprietors) run a fabulous operation with a down home feel. Very friendly service from start to finish. My meal was delicious and exactly what I was after with just right portions. I do not live in Greenwich however if I did, this would be my regular stop.
We dropped into Putnam Restaurant based on recommendation from a local resident. The vintage storefront is gateway to an authentic diner that features a counter, booth and sunlit dining area in the rear. Breakfast is served all day long but you can get lunch and dinner fare as well as wine by the bottle. Our server was Debbie who really rocks! She knows how to hustle and kept us well served from start to finish. We tried the Angus burger and pancakes with home fries cooked the way they should be and hardly ever ate elsewhere. Everything was delicious!!
As for diners, this long standing restaurant has served hungry customers for decades. While not a gourmet destination, not a romantic place, sometimes a person just wants a simple meal without a lot of fuss. The servers are pleasant and helpful and the food is prepared with care.I enjoy their home made corned beef hash, made from scratch! Not many places offer such a well made favorite breakfast side.
Worst customer service I ever had. The lady who serve has an attitude and never said hi or anything. She doesn’t even look at you. Food was ok nothing special either. Another guy who works there also has the same nasty attitude. Will not recommend
Great diner food in the middle of one of the best outdoor shopping areas in the state. Locals, both young and old refer to Greenwich Avenue, with its wide sideways, one-way police controlled traffic, simply refer to this as The Ave. Great selection of diner food with friendly service. Great place to just go and enjoy a meal when you just dont feel like cooking. From your second visit onwards the staff recognize you and start to treat you like family. Very reasonable prices for the area.
Great little diner in the downtown area, and get easy to get to and from 95. Great diner food (except who puts the dressing on the side of a Ruben?) and excellent service. There was only one server for everyone, but it was pretty quiet and no issues. Were definitely stopping by next time we drive through, and well make sure to try out the fantastic - looking desserts!
Nick and the staff are the best! Best cheeseburger in town and great food with lovely people! One of the few standing restaurants that is still in operation from childhood Nick and the staff are the best best cheeseburger in town and great food with lovely people one of the few standing restaurants that is still in operation from childhood
Great food and lovely service. The pancakes are just like mom makes. Do not miss this place for breakfast.
You cannot beat their diner breakfast. Fast, good and a low price almost unheard of. Friendly and attentive staff
This is a hidden gem! Right on the avenue, near great shopping, and super reasonable prices. Friendly service, decent food, and beautiful interior atrium! What all diners should be!
I used to go there all the time love the soups all may type food great choices accommodate the customer reasonable prices and I had to go there on my own and felt very comfortable very neighborhood type place I recommend
Extensive selection. Attentive service. Quiet ambiance. A favorite when shopping.
Service was amazing and food was amazing and on time
Friendly waiters but bland food for dinner. Suggest you stick to simply prepared items at breakfast. Granddaughter did love the grilled cheese & fries. My shrimp scampi & pasta was a bellyfiller at best.
Grabbed a chocolate shake, grilled cheese and fries. Tip: ask for hot sauce and also throw a few strips of bacon on whatever you order. Bacon and waffles/pancakes may be the new hot trend on the Ave.
Very limited lunch menu. But to be fair it was my only time there. Our Servers were switching back and forth, and both made many errors. Very quiet and only a very few guests during our visit. I took my client because she picked the place, so maybe she had better experiences in the past.
Great restaurant. Always quality food. Excellent service. Reasonable prices.
We got the pastrami and Swiss it was delish!
Amazing homemade greek food!!Their staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you are home. Absolutely recommended!!
Putnam is my favorite place to eat in Greenwich! The food is so good and the environment is fantastic. The owners take such good care of their customers and its a great place for families or for a quick bite in the morning.
Was a great place...fantastic breakfast.. had my yr and a half old son...ni baby change station in bathroom...otherwise good experience
Atmosphere, food and staff were outstanding. Also very reasonably priced!
Great place to eat. Its not one of those trendy places, just a regular diner. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Breakfast all day if you want.
Nice place. Good breakfast. Eggs waffle sausages on point.
Great food and fresh squeezed mimosas!
Amazing food! Try the Greek veggie wrap, or an amazing fresh fish platter! You will enjoy!
Perfect diner experience. Self-seating, great prices, great food, great service. Owner is very friendly, they clearly care about the way they do business.
Awesome old school diner.Espcially appreciate the breakfast all day options
The buffalo wings were good. Fries and sweet potato were great. Grilled cheese was perfect. Cajun chicken, avocado and swiss pita sandwich was delicious. The pickle was great too.
They were flexible enough to make the half sandwich I wanted beyond the menus limited choices but brought a garden salad instead of the Greek salad I ordered. Food was only so so
Bad service and food. Server offer coffee to next table while ours were empty and visible.Pricey and worst omelette ever
What a wonderful staple located in the lower part of Greenwich Avenue walking distance to the train station. Reasonable recipes and menu
Everytime I order from This location, I get terrible service. My team down the street orders frequently as well, and also receive the same nasty attitude from this manager. We are paying money for food and customer service. We do not appreciate the manager turning his back around at us once we step inside. Also, he seems to have a problem when we order more sauce, even though we do not mind paying extra for it since he insists. He has a nasty attitude and has horrible customer service. I have requested to speak to upper management, he then questioned me. He then refused to give me their contact information. Please address this to upper managment.
Best steak Quesadilla I had in years
Great food. Great prices. Excellent service.
Awesome brunch. Some cool variations to breakfast food.
I have never had a bad experience at Putnam! The service is excellent, the prices are incredibly reasonable and never have disappointed my family in I incredible presentation and flavors!!!!
Steak and eggs for breakfast was very good...!
Excellent little spot, had a very good breakfast.
Went in for breakfast (1st time ever) & was greeted immediately, was advised I can sit where ever Id like, menus & water were provided for as soon as I sat down as well. My server, Debbie, was amazing, extremely attentive, cheerful, polite, and funny. She reminded me of the servers from an old diner I lived by, she def makes the place! Its like she knew us immediately & was def ontop of her game.I usually am pretty basic with breakfast so I ordered eggs over medium, toast, homefries, and bacon all for $5.95. Cant be beat! The bacon was P E R F E C T & homefries were delicious. To me eggs are eggs, lol but they were cooked to my specification. My spouse had the same thing and french toast with bananas. The french toast was delicious and super soft. Ive never had French toast that was this good, not even my own! I will DEFINITELY return, I will most definitely recommend this place to my friends and coworkers.**Be careful w/feeding the meter. The town is ontop of it and you will get a ticket the moment the meter expires!
Nice cozy place. Friendly service
Great food reasonable pricesgood service in Greenwich
Best burger I had in a while
Perfect little breakfast joint, good food and friendly service.
This is a good place for a quick breakfast. The omelets are not fancy - just right.
Cant go wrong with this place, they have anything your heart desires.
Great food and great value! My favorite
Kind but slow wait staff ... but mostly flavorless food. I guess we should have tried breakfast rather than dinner. The grilled cheese & fries on the childrens menue was well received BUT the Chicken Souvlaki and the Shrimp Scampi ( shouldnt it have a garlicky taste ?) mains were belly fillers. Water was promptly provided BUT menus arrived 20 minutes later. Perhaps a off might given the many positive reviews I read prior to comming.
