1st time in LA great store stopped by to get some shoes they had good prices.

Not a lot of tackle for fishing as far as weights, hooks, and smaller items. Theres not much of a variety and its very disorganized.

Store was was fine, but corporate needs to change the rules on holiday music. It is way too early for it.

No problems I like to walk around and look at all the camping and hiking stuff . As of today they didnt have Any ammo on the shelves kind of scary

These stores are well kept and have a good selection, also the clothing is well made for competitive prices.

I called about a warranty, the lady that picked up asked where I should be transferred to, she put me on hoke, 5 min later she picked up again. Put me on hold again, then it hung up on me. I called right back. Same lady answered, and just handed the phone to the guy next to her and he answered saying customer service. I even heard them talking together right before he said hello about other peopme. If shes picking up in customer service, why was I on hold? Why didnt she help me? Why is academy wasting their time with incompetence? Trash

Place is great especially since it doesnt take a couple hours of standing in line due to 2 customer max. It has some items that are extremely over priced but the staff is incredibly kind and courteous. The store is always very clean and they keep product on the shelf. Id give it 3 stars as I got exactly what I expect from a business of its kind. Keep in mind weekends are much busier than weekdays.

They used to have more variety in the shoe Dept, it was my place for years but Im trying to get either Sperry top siders or classic Sketchers walking shoes (on the go was my favourite really) and all I seem to find are the extremely flashy basketball type of sport shoes, which may be fine but not for all occasions

Always find just what I need for any sport. From cycling, kick boxing, soccer, swimming, golf, football, baseball, fishing, canoeing, archery and work out equipment. Academy has it all.

Went in to look at the air rifles. The employees was so helpful and polite. She answered all our questions. It was a pleasure to shop here. Also they have a lot of great outdoors stuff🥰

They had what we needed, just kind of expensive but hey its Academy. My girls even modal with their shoulder pads. Sorry Academy. They were cute and working it tho. Lol!!

Cashiers were friendly and fast, even though the line was long, the wait was minimal and there was a friendly person there to ring up purchases, instead of a cold self checkout that is so prevalent these days. Thank you Academy!

Very friendly and courteous. They are over priced on most of there product however thats what you get with a huge chain. They keep stocked up and shelves full. From looking at the outside, you get what you expect.

Called earlier today about ammunition and the guy gave false information about them having 40 cal rounds in stocks. He even gave the price of them. Caught a Lyft there only to find out they never had any in stock. Made me waste money. Very disappointed in their customer service.

Sales associate was very helpful with getting proper fit of hiking boots for 8 year old grandson.

Decent store. It does not have as much stock in the sporting goods section as it did before the pandemic.

They do have good things to buy there. But recently I wanted to buy a college shirt for my daughter of another state. I know Academy has sold all the colleges shirts before. I asked about the shirt and the employee was very rude and cocky. Stating the always only sold our state and each state sold their own. Then walked off. Ok then God bless you too. The rudeness was very uncalled for and unprofessional.

I still like going to sports stores for my gear. You need to have the glove in your hand to know if its the right one for you.

The Worse Service on Firearms.Waiting 1 hour to get in the store to Pickup a Firearm and after 1 hour of waiting and fill up the form to get my item they just said that the Store System declined the Purchase without reason, i went to Cabelas after that and withing 30 min i had what i was looking for.AVOID this place !!!! they have Worse System Service, if you have the option of CABELAS Store near you dont doubt on Go there to get what you want Fast and easier 👍

The best shoes and clothes very ideal for sports hinting and fishing

Ordered online for curbside pick up and the shoes were used and stained. Asked to change them and front door attendant had a very negative disposition not willing to assist. Ended up canceling the order and requesting a refund. The attendant only wished me good night in a very insincere way. Maybe her forte is working in the back? Definitely not with customers.

Academy sports is the best outdoor shopping store that we have anywhere close. A little pricey, but good quality merchandise.

Unless you want clothes. This place has no stock for fishermen. Whoever is in charge of inventory should be sweeping floors.

There was absolutely no one at registers except for the folks at customer service. There was a line of about 8 people at one point. The woman at the podium had to call twice for anyone to come and open an additional actual register. Whats the point of having all these people working in your store if you dont have some one actually collecting money from paying customers for goods. My cashier at Customer service was very sweet. She was doing her best. She was the agent on the left hand side.

Wow...there is no such thing as customer service at this venue. I couldn’t find a certain item and the associate I asked acted like I was asking her to do long division. Finally after no help from her, I find what I’m looking for and ready to check out and I find the rudest most lethargic personality checking me out. She couldn’t even put in the energy to speak in a clear voice to tell me the total. Please don’t spend your money here. Go to ANY OTHER sporting goods store!

Good place to purchase off the shelf guns and ammo. They also have an above average BBQ/cooking section. Pretty much anything you need for the boat as well. All the stores are stocked pretty well and clean.

Do your homework before going. I asked for two items. One is shown here. No one could point me in the right direction, nor knew what I was talking about. Also, I asked for padded cycling shorts and again, no one could direct me. Both times I asked two different workers and they were clueless and didnt offer to check with their website/inventory to see what they were.Maybe new workers due to Covid.

Only one line open at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. They need more cashiers. The line reached all the way to the dressing room.

If I could - star I would. This place is by far the worst Academy I have ever been to . I know that it is hard to find good help sometimes but geezz are yall even looking ? The people in store and over the phone (when you get someone) are very rude and dont know anything . If someone is going to answer the phone at least have them be able to have some kind of common sense . I found what i needed at another sporting outlet and for half the price that Academy advertised . I wont say I wont go to any Academy ever but I would pass this one up 100 times in the middle of the desert with no water ...

Young ladies at the cash registers are very rude and disrespectful. Definitely not up to par with how it used to be. I went to the store for sporting goods, and all I recieved was snotty rude comments from the CASHIER. Bringing my money elsewhere.

Really glad I found Academy Sports as an alternative to some of the other chain retailers. Generally a good selection on just about anything from outdoor lifestyles to indoor activities. Covers about every sport golf to Kayaking. Reasonable pricing also.

A great place to shop when you have a lot of boys. A bit pricey but I understand they have a big building to pay for. Over all have a great experience when I go there.

Found what we needed

Today was my second time at Academy to purchase a hand gun and again one person behind the counter! I waited at least 15 min with no help the guy did not greet or acknowledged me .

Only two cashier lanes and service desk had one person. The line was ALL the way back to the very back of the store. With this pandemic going on u would think they would open more registers to get the people out faster.

Best place to go for back to school things such as backpacks and tennis shoes...my husband brings my sons each year.

We are in Storm prep here. Woefully understaffed. And each of the folks working were TOTALLY performing at the 4 star level. They deserve a great job.

I visited the shoe department, the sales staff was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through everything I needed to know and answered every single one of my questions. They are a good sports and outdoors store. They have a big selection of fishing, hunting and camping gear. They also have Everything you could ever need for an outdoor excursion and more.

You really need to have at least one person for fishing and a separate person for firearms.

The door greeter did not greet me. As I was coming in the door she saw me & intentionally turned around as if she was arranging clothes. If I was there to spend $5.00 or $ 500.00 you should greet everyone who is coming to spend a dime with your company. Once in the store your merchandise for womens golf gear is slim to none.

The person working the front desk should never be allowed to work that desk ever again. He not only DID NOT greet us, my husband and me, but he didnt ask us if we needed any help...as a matter of fact, the front desk was actually holding him up as he was leaning on it, like he was either too tired to work or too sick to work, I dont know which one...he said that he had no idea if Academy repaired fishing rods. He called someone on the intercom, gave an incorrect call back number, then correctly said the right number. We waited and waited, then after no one called him back, he said no, Academy didnt repair fishing rods....oh, so lie to us after the fact instead of lying to us in the beginning. I dont know when I will return...this is one reason why I purchase online...dont have to deal with bad customer service...

Poor customer service . Employees have no knowledge of products in their department... Ask for customer service and it took 20 mins before an employee came and they had no knowledge of the products I was asking about ... No cashiers at the registers ... The lack of leadership at this store ruins the experience this store has to offer ... Very dissappointed

The prices were very fair and the salespeople are very helpful! We bought apparel for the kids, a few balls, and a safe for my oldest one. Would definitely recommend.

Greeter was genuinely happy and friendly. I was assisted with finding the products I needed (I did need help lol) and my cashier was friendly and quick!

Everything went as I expected it to not a bad experience at all. Some employees need a check they dont greet they dont sound friendly but there are others that go above and beyond especially the guy at the gun counter. Cant remember his name but he was there today this morning and helped me.

Always someone nice to greet you at the door and tell you about the sales ! Great to see a Gretna police officer thats a door also looking out for crime check out could have been better but overall it was a nice visit and I got what I needed

My favorite quote from an actual employee when I asked where I could find shoelaces, I just greet people. I dont actually know where the products are. I never even leave the front of the store. They sell thousands of shoes but they only have a handful of shoelaces. They also sell thousands of pairs of identical socks. If you dont want that particular kind, youre out of luck. If I didnt have a $25 gift card to spend, I wouldnt have even bothered to wait in one of three check-out lines while 8, yes, 8 employees negotiated how to operate a mis-behaving cash register. I hope no one ever gives me another gift card to this store. In fact, I think Dicks would actually make money accepting Academy gift cards.

I was ready to check out and I approached a register with a young man behind it. I asked him if he was checking. He replied, no. I went to another register and had to wait, but when I turned around he was checking out another customer. NOT cool. I dont need to shop where my business is not appreciated.

A young lady in shoe dept provided excellent service in locating a pair of shoes. I picked up a few more things and headed to checkout. Only had customer service registers (2) open with very long lines. It was 5:50pm on a Sunday, which was pretty busy.
