If you want the best and are looking for comfort as well as style, then American Cycle & Fitness is the go to place..The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions and also printed information off the internet for me. I have compared and found that they have the best selection of E Bikes in the Detroit Metro area.

They are really great at what they do, and extremely friendly here. I normally visit the ACF in Royal Oak, but came here for a proper bike fitting. Steve and Adam and the rest of the crew made me feel at home, the way you hope your local bike shop would. The fitting experience was thorough and personalized, and I recommend the full process to anyone spending hours upon hours in the saddle. The only problem with this shop is their distance from me personally. They were so good, I’ll now have to consider traveling the extra mileage for such service. Fantastic!

Short Review - Professional fitting by Steve Merz was an outstanding experience. He is remarkably knowledgeable and patient, and, an asset to our area.Long review:I had been experiencing wrist and foot pain while riding my current bicycle. Per doctors orders, I have my road bike set up in the basement on a trainer. My bike had been professionally fitted about 3 years ago, however, based on my pain, it was time to be re-fitted.My brother and sister-in-law had excellent experiences with Steve and suggested I use his services too. Im thrilled I did. Steve asked me to come with my bicycle and all of the gear I wear when riding. Our appointment lasted 2 hours.Perhaps you were fitted for a bicycle by standing an inch or so over the bar, or, sit on the bike and see if you have a slight bend in the knee while in position. If so, this process will blow your mind!Steve asked me my goals and then asked me to begin cycling on the apparatus pictured below. This device allows Steve to adjust every element of a bicycle: seat height, pitch, saddle choice, handlebar height, pitch, and style, pedal type and the distance between the bicycle and pedal. Laser measurements, video imaging, and energy output were all placed onto a computer to measure and judge how to adjust each element for an optimum outcome.Steve patiently worked through each variable to come up with a better fitting bicycle that would allow me to exercise comfortably. We agreed to change my saddle, seat post, handlebars and post, as well as pedals. My experience may be extreme, but, I wound up with a great fitting bicycle. I no longer have wrist nor foot pain. He then adjusted my bicycle to match the measurements taken from his apparatus.I had gone through a fitting process about 3 years earlier. That process was like using an abacus compared to an advanced computer. I cant imagine ever buying a bicycle without going through Steve and his meticulous process.This was an expensive process. However, I decided whether or not to accept the recommendations for different equipment (& the costs associated with it). I wound up with a great fitting exercise bicycle which cost a lot less than a Peloton (and fit better). Ultimately, the best recommendation to give is, knowing what I know, would I do this again. The answer is absolutely yes.I have been riding my bicycle for 6 weeks prior to writing this review, and, I am just as happy with my outcome today as I was when first picking my bicycle up.Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, if you havent picked up on it yet, Steve Merz did a tremendous job for me. I cant recommend him highly enough. He is remarkably talented in this world. Better still, he pleasant to work with and endlessly patient in experimenting. Met with Steve for a bike fit, had a great experience! Would reccomend a bike fit to anyone who is an avid rider or in the market for a new bike.Ended up purchasing some components, to complete the fit. Shop has competive prices, and great selection!

Called ahead to ask if they had a bike rack in stock. Very friendly, offered advice to optimize my purchase. When I went into the store, everyone was very friendly and helpful and even installed the bike rack on my car -without having to ask! Will def make this a go-to place for my biking needs!

I came to ACF because I was looking for a Trek & it was close to my work. I was very grateful for the great customer service and time taken to help me. I am a total novice as I havent ridden a bike in 24 years but Steve took the time to make sure I understood what I needed to know and that I was comfortable once I had my bike and left the store and was on my own. It was a great experience and I am very happy with my new bike.

I did not purchase my wifes Biria bike from American Cycle. During this pandemic it was hard to find this specific model at any local bike shop. I bought on line and American Cycle cycle Grosse Pointe assembled it for my wife. The assembly was very timely and fair priced for assembly. Before we left American Cycle Grosse Pointe, the mechanic performed a fit test for my wife and reviewed all the functions of the Biria bike. Staff was very customer friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend American Cycle Grosse Pointe for all you cycle needs.

For years I have been going to American Cycle and Fitness in GP for parts and service and they always exceed expectations. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I always prefer brick and mortar stores to online shopping because the expertise and product advise from the people in store assures you always get what you need the 1st time and they are living proof of that.

These guys are great. I forgot my running stroller at home and I had a ten mile training run to fit in on my vacation to the area. Steve was super helpful. Bought a super bright 1100 lumen light last week for my electric scooter. It’s awesome!My scooter fell over and the clip that held the light to the Handel bar broke.I came in today fully expecting to purchase another clip and was given a replacement for free.It was not necessary for them to give me a replacement clip, but I didn’t even have to ask.Customer service goes a long way these days.Definitely will be coming back again to buy more accessories for my scooter.Thank you

Until last year, I had a trek bike. Had move; needed money; sold bike and other items. Now that I know that 7 minutes away theres a Trek Bike location, I will be visiting this place soon! I need another bike so I can drop 155 lbs quickly

Made me feel very unwelcome.I had an appointment, but they acted like I was just a walkup and that my request was really putting them out.I had a mask, but was not allowed in even in 90 degree heat with only 1 other customer in the place.They are conveniently located and do good work, but two stars is all I can give considering the lack of customer service and making me feel so unwanted as a customer.

After a week of overwhelming and unsuccessful trips to bike shops all over the Metro Detroit area, I decided come here and see if they could help me out.I was looking for the right hybrid bike for commuting to and from work. Ive been riding BMX most of my life, so riding this style of bike is new territory for me. Therefore, I needed someone with knowledge, expertise, and honest opinions to help me find what I was looking for.Long story short: this store far exceeded my expectations in the best way possible.Upon entering the store, I was greeted by Dane. He guided me through the entire process. He was incredibly polite, patient, asked the right questions and provided expert advice. Its important to note that he didnt try any sales gimmicks on me. My experience felt more like a conversation than a transaction. I left the shop with a new bike that I love. They even fitted the bike to my height/body type before I left.Please. If you need a bike, go see them. Theyre incredible.

Steve was great! He helped me pick out the correct cleats for my cycling shoes and provided top notch service. He answered every question I had and was he was knowledgeable as well. On an early morning road ride I noticed a wobble in my pedal. Not good. I knew I had stripped the pedal from the crank arm and that it was probably completely ruined. It was. I searched the internet to see how fast I could get a new crankset and for as little money as I could... Everything was at least a week away. I took the crankset to ACF and spoke with Dane and Adam who told me to go grab the bike and that they had something to get me going again. I ran home and grabbed it and Adam had a new bottom bracket and crankset installed in about 15 minutes. Amazing. The price was also great for what I purchased and I probably could not have ordered anything online in that category of parts for cheaper. And I got my week of riding back which is priceless! These guys are a legit shop and theyve won my bike business from here on out. Thanks guys!

Mixed review.Pros:- Excellent products. Trek and other brands sold at this store are top notch.- Selection. I had a variety of brands, models, colors, and features to choose from.- Knowledgeable sales staff.Cons:- Price. You wont find a deal here. Everything is either list price or higher. My recommendation...purchase your bike here, but buy your accessories on Amazon.- Service. I was told my new bike would be setup within 30 mins and they would call me. A day later and still no call. I called them the next day, yes the bike was ready. Went the third day to pick it up and there was not enough staff at the store to service customers, so I had to wait. Unfortunately, the customers ahead of me were there to complain about service, so the wait was fairly lengthy.-Support. At time of pickup, my bike was not fitted to me. The features were also not explained. Luckily, a wee but mighty high school girl who works there came up and asked if I needed help, then helped me get the new bike into the trunk of my car. I did receive an owners manual, but am not sure if it went with my bike since it was from 2011 and my was made in...actually I dont know, but I probably should, right?SummaryA great place to purchase a quality bike if you are not looking for a deal and are patient to wait for staff to help you. I would go back, but would also shop around first.

Adam provided us with a friendly greeting and then helped us find just the right bike for my sons wife, our grandchildrens mother. Its a Trek Verve 3.She was very surprised when we gave it to her, and immediately went for a ride around the block. She returned and said, This is so nice. Great experience and great techs. I carried in my beaten up 90s carbon fiber trek. Upon crossing the threshold into the shop every tech immediately recognized the carbon fiber frame and old school cool of the bike and they were all geeked. Everyone there has a passion for bikes and it shows. Dudes werent trying to over sell me on nothing but werent also tryin to cut corners. Good folks.

My latest service required a replacement bracket for my rear fender. ACF fabricated the custom part and installed it, free if charge. I highly recommend this LBS.

Great service. sales people knowledgeable - they were able to fit me with the type of bike i needed based on talking with me about how i ride, where i ride, etc. the mechanics in this store are excellent. worked with a young man, garrett miller, who was a very knowledgeable salesman, very professional and went out of his way to assist me with my purchase. going to an independent store like this is so worth the effort it may take to get there and the slight amount of extra cost as you cannot replace the personal service. they have great sales too.

Warning, DO NOT give them your drivers license to test ride a bike, I did and when I realized THE NEXT DAY that it had not been returned to me I called to say I would pick it up. When I arrived I was told it was put in the mail. Yes, within 24 hours. It has been over 2 weeks now and still no license. have called them twice, one of the times I spoke with Joe who stated nonchalantly I cant control the mail, dont worry, Ive done this a thousand times. Hmmmm......they need to change their policy for collateral and remembering to return it. Going to SOS tomorrow to replace my enhanced drivers license. This store has cost me time,energy,grief, and money. Would not recommend them. FYI - It was the Gross Pointe store, NOT Pontiac

Wasnt a good experience for me. Warranty information was not explained I wasnt provided with any brochures or literature about the bike I purchased, return policies were reviewed, my bike was not properly fitted to me, there overpriced for accessories clippless pedals their for $85 got the at Dicks online for $30 including shipping. Overall I feel as if they just wanted to sale me a bike and push me out the door. I guess my $600+ I was spending wasnt enough to warrant attention or great customer service.

Q: Can I trust this place with a tuneup or any type of maintenance work?A: Yes; I have had my road bikes (79 Trek 510, 73 Nishiki Pro) tuned here and am about to take my 02 Cannondale Scalpel for a shifter installation.Either in the store or on the phone I have only experienced high knowledge and a friendly, unpretentious manner from the sales staff as well as the mechanics. Also to note, turnaround time for labor is usually just one business day!

My bike had a problem that wasnt their fault, and they moved mountains to make it right, and gave me a great loaner for my vacation, while they beat the parts out of the manufacturer. --Years after the sale! Great people at this ACF store. I bought my Domane at the Hall Road store and had it shipped to the Grosse Pointe store. Jeff Fooks went well out of his way for me to make double sure the bike was right before I took it home. Other employees have helped me with other things like truing and tensioning 2 wheels for me in 1 hour. I have no reservations about recommending ACF both at Hall Road and Grosse Pointe.

Purchased a bike for my son. The handle bars were not installed properly and very loose when he tried to stear it. Staff seemed somewhat inexperienced. Maybe just the one I was working with. Ill give them another try but I wasnt happy.
