The driver was very scary. He ignored traffic signs and drove way too fast. I was afraid of an accident. The driver mumbled a lot and seemed spaced out or half asleep. A very bad experience.

I had AAA tow my car here in January when my car wouldn’t start. They fixed the problem, but a few weeks later the same problem was back. Suddenly there was a new solution that was more expensive. They fixed that, but a few weeks later my engine started acting up. There was yet another solution that was also expensive. When I picked my car up, they even said the same problem might come back, and lo and behold less than a week later the same problem came back. I refuse to take it back there because at this point it seems like it gets worse each time they “fix” it. Truly wouldn’t recommend taking your car there if you want a long term solution. Quick work doesn’t always mean good work.

My son called AAA for a tow for and was towed to this business by the Texaco tow-truck. They gave him an exorbitant quote for repairs. When he decided to have it towed to another mechanic, they wanted to charge him $85 for their estimate. They didnt tell him in advance that they would charge for an estimate. Stay away!

Stay away from this place. They fix something and brake something else for you to come back.

Called AAA for a tow - driver came in 9 minutes and got me out of a rough spot despite snow and ice and did it quickly- polite and very helpful

Charged me more than double the going rate to replace a front wheel bearing. My usual garage was short handed, and could not see me right away. The car had to go to upstate NY in two days. This job normally goes for around 400.00, I ended up writing a check for just over 1000.00. The manufacturers parts needed list for 115.00 max on the internet, I was charged 335.00. The work was done correctly, but it is not a complicated job. Wont be going here again. I got a call from Jim at Guilford Texaco. He explained that a problem with his software caused me to be billed double and was sending me a partial refund, which I just received. Thank you Jim.

I reached out to AAA since my car wasnt starting - most likely because I have not driven it as much during the pandemic. Quick emissions test and friendly staff but I was disappointed when I walked into their small front office and all employees in the office were mask free. Seems they didnt get the notice that Covid is aerosol. I waited outside.

Very helpful!! I was traveling from out of state and needed 2 tires replaced, but did not have the key for the lug nuts. Not only was it not a problem, but they went above and beyond and removed the locks from the other two wheels so I wouldnt have a problem in the future!! Thanks for the excellent customer service!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. Triple aaa sent one of there best drivers to come change a flat. He got the jack stuck under the car which resulted in a way bigger issue, didn’t have an impact gun, and had zero customer service.

I received outstanding customer service from Guildford Texaco. We were on our way from New York City to a wedding in Newport, Rhode Island on a recent Saturday and began hearing a terrible noise in the back of our car when we got off the highway near their shop. We got to the repair shop about 12:30 pm and the wedding in Newport started at 5:30 pm. The technician quickly diagnosed that we had needed new rear brakes. Despite the fact that the shop was due to close at 1 pm and that many of the vendors for parts are closed on Saturday afternoons, the technician became fully committed to help us out and do what was needed to get us back on the road. It was a pleasure working with him.The wait for the repair to be completed was made relatively comfortable by their spacious waiting room with large screen TV, a clean restroom, filtered water, and a Keurig coffeemaker. Also, we had a lovely Thai lunch at a restaurant next door.The technician was very professional, friendly, patient and obviously very knowledgeable about cars. He kept us posted throughout the afternoon about the progress he was making in getting the parts and then ultimately getting the work done.If I lived in the Guilford area that experience would have moved me to make the shop my preferred choice for any mechanical issues with my car.Thanks to the technician, we made it to the wedding on time and were able to preserve our Newport weekend getaway. If it had not been for the technicians commitment to high quality customer service, I was dreading the alternative which would have been missing the wedding, taking a taxi to get to a train for a return trip to New York City and then having to come back from New York City on Monday or Tuesday to pick up my car.The whole experience was customer service at its best.

Through Honda Roadside Assistance Guilford Texaco was dispatched to jumpstart my 6 month old CRV on a cold Sunday night. Within minutes I received a call from the GT dispatcher to say that they would be here within minutes... and they were. From the time of the call to their arrival was under 30 minutes. The technician was very professional and personable. After the jump start he did some diagnostics and told me the battery was defective. I then drove the car for a couple hours and went home.As expected, the battery was dead the next morning. After calling the dealer to make an appointment I had to call Honda Roadside again to jumpstart the car so It could be driven to the dealer. Called at 745 am and the Guilford Texaco tech was here at 810. Different technician, same great attitude and professionalism.ps... the battery was defective. Great job guys! Thank you.

A good place to get your emissions test done. Free coffee and you can watch while they work on your car. Mine took about 20 minutes, no problem.

The owners and staff take the time to assess, evaluate and explain the work and are considerate of what is absolutely necessary and what can wait. Ive been there several times thinking I had a huge mechanical issues and walked away paying nothing to very little after they took the cars on the road and checked the engine on the lift... just a few wires and a fuse...youre all set. Im glad I finally found a straight and narrow auto shop on the Shoreline!

My towing experiences have been very positive. Autos have been towed to destination carefully, within a reasonable time frame at a fair quoted price. Driver was knowledgeable and friendly.

Come in for emission test, ask for some help with a separate issue, leave with broken parts on your car and an $85 replacement cost. Thanks for the assist guys! Need maintenance on your car or an emissions test? Go somewhere else! Theyll always choose their way and not the right way. Unsatisfied? Tough. They dont care. And they dont clean up after themselves and leave your car running (wasting YOUR fuel) while they talk your ear off telling you how awesome they are. Hint: Theyre not. Ill drive 100 miles away for my next emissions test rather than give them another penny.

My car stalled after going through water on a flooded road, and Guilford Texaco was called by AAA to pick me up. Josh arrived promptly and was so kind, advised me to take pictures of the road for insurance purposes, loaded up my car and dropped me at the rental car company on the way to taking my car to the dealer. He was respectful, knowledgeable and caring. Thanks, Josh, for making a bad day just a little brighter.

I have waited to tell you my experience with this repair shop because I was still working with AAA.Right before Thanksgiving I was headed south to No Carolina when my car broke down. It was late Saturday afternoon and I managed to pull the car into the service area. AAA was called and I knew it was the alternator. I was towed to this garage. Of course, I had to stay across the street at the hotel till they opened on MONDAY. The owner charged me over $900. Which included charges for looking it over even though we knew what it was. When I questioned the price he had the nerve to say welcome to Connecticut !! Anyone traveling through the Guilford area, please avoid this garage. He is very rude and dishonest as far as Im concerned . I wish I could give him zero stars!!

I was warned about this place but had to get my emissions done in a hurry. Dont make my mistake: all of a sudden 2 hours after leaving the test my brake light began flashing indicating low fluids! a brake line had pulled away from a caliper and is leaking and in need of repair!!! What a coincidence?! I have my own mechanic, thanks anyway!

On Memorial Day I called AAA because my wife’s car did not start. A Guilford Texaco tow arrived promptly and asked me where I wanted my car towed, so I gave him the name of a local mechanic. After finding out that the mechanic I wanted my car to towed to was closed (clearly it was a holiday), he offered to tow it to Guilford Texaco, because “they can get it checked out”. After arriving the attendant at the office stated, “oh the driver didn’t tell you we were closed, there are no mechanics here”. I was perturbed, but understood. A day later, I received a call stating “there is good news and ok news. Your alternator and starter are ok, but you need a tune up, we need to replace the spark plugs, replace the cabin filter, replace the oil, you need a lot of work done, etc...” The next part falls a bit on me because I didn’t have time to ask in detail how much everything costs as I was rushing into a doctors appointment. When I picked up the car today I was shocked that I received a $703.69 bill. I then began to review the charges, $40 for an oil change, $170 for 4 spark plugs. I asked to speak with a mechanic to see if there was anything he could do, but the attendant stated, “oh all the mechanics are gone”. The car started so that was positive. My wife drove her car home, and said, “something is missing”. The scion emblem on her shifter was missing.Update 6/18/18: I was contacted directly by the President and owner Jim twice and once by mail. I finally had a chance to speak with him today. Jim is a kind man that stands behind his company and it was evident in our conversation today. He definitely went the extra mile to address my concerns, which I cannot say another company would have done by me simply writing a review online. He is not some owner that sits on a beach in Florida and manages from afar, but he is on location at either of his shops every single day. He is very personable, settled my worries and put my mind at ease. He addressed the problem head on, and made sure that by the end of our conversation all my needs were met. You do not find owners like this anymore.

Beware. Texaco Guilford wanted to charge us $3000 (to start with) and potentially up to $6000 for a repair that an honest mechanic down the road actually ended up charging us $520 for.

After being actually lied to by 3 other car dealer service departments in our Guilford, Madison, Branford area it was a God Send when on a community Facebook page I found out about Guilford Texaco. I take my car in, they dont make me wait forever to see what the problem is. When they say what they are going to do, they actually do it. The wait area is clean and conformable and all the employees are extremely nice to talk to. Now lets talk costs. They are very fair and explain ahead of time what the repair/service should run...I highly recommend.

My car over-heated and I called Triple A for assistance and they told me that Guilford Texaco is less than 4 miles away and seeing it is hot I was directly in the sun I asked if they could let the garage know to expedite this also seeing my kids were at home, I didn’t want to leave them for too long. I was told 45 minutes well I called at 3:50 pm and Guilford Texaco kept sending me text messages that they were not able to get there until this time, which happened 3 times and the last time I received was for 6:30 pm I finally asked the man wear my car stalled and over heated to help me with the radiator fluid, and prayed my car didn’t die on my way home or the engine and radiator blow.. I wanted it towed as to why I called Triple A, I don’t want any other issues with this vehicle. Also, I’m not used to overheating vehicles and was afraid of putting anti-freeze in myself seeing it may blow which has happened. I sat in the direct sun for nearly 3 hours, after the last text I received yet extending the time again to 6:30 pm which I didn’t wait and got help and cancelled and put a complaint in with a manager at Triple A regarding this. The manager at Triple A saw all the extensions of the time table estimate that were texted to me and she was beside herself and apologized to me cause she said this should not have happened and felt terrible that I waited so long and I at 6:10 pm canceled services seeing a nice man after asking if he wouldn’t mind helping me put anti-freeze in for me and i apologized to him for bothering him and told him what was going on. That was the worst experience I’ve ever had with Triple A services utilizing a garage close by to my location. That service was inexcusable and The Guilford Texaco should have let Triple A know at the beginning that they had too many calls and that customer would be waiting too long. Terrible customer service for being so unthoughtful of the amount of time I had to wait..

Dealt with these guys about a used LS430. Extremely short on the phone and very bullish. Would not recommend buying a car from this company. Customer service needs work.
