McClure’s in Gurnee recommended them, so I called them just before close on a Monday night. Leaving my car parked in a certain, local theme park parking lot can be unkind to side mirrors. I needed to have a new Chrome cap installed, so he told me to bring it in at lunch time. He has me in and out in 20 minutes and fixed another part of the mirror that I didn’t even know sustained damage. Prices were fair, they were courteous, and prompt.

My 96 Impala SS had damage on the drivers side. My insurance companys official autobody shop told me it was totaled because they could find the parts. I called Waukegan & Gurnee Auto Body and Tom found all the parts within an hour of initial conversation. His repair estimate was low and very reasonable. They repaired the damage and I also had them replace my OEM bumpers with custom aftermarket smooth bumpers with fog lights in the front. I stopped by Waukegan Auto Body to get a quote on putting a duckbill spoiler, that I already owned, on my new car. It was a pricey spoiler, but only came from the manufacturer with two sided tape. Tom wanted to add something that would bond it to the car, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it coming off. They did it while I waited. Fantastic job. Looks great! Very reasonable price. A++UPDATE-August 2019: I went back to Tom to put some carbon fiber mirror caps on my car this last month. Once again he did it while I waited and they look great! I was not intending to repair here just wondering what kind of damage I had caused. However after talking with Tom the proprietor and getting his detailed repair estimate I was sold. He was so knowledgeable and genuine. He explained everything to me and told me how long it would take to fix. I called my insurance company and was instructed to take my car elsewhere. When I went to the insurance companys recommend shop the estimate was considerably higher and my car was going to take twice as long to repair. I told my insurance company I was going to Waukegan Gurnee Auto Body. Afterwards I took my car to Tom, gave him my insurance information and he took it from there. My car was ready on time. BEWARE !! Brought my GMC Denali truck in to have the windows tinted. Picked up the truck parked it in the garage and noticed two days later a puncture in the drivers seat(leather). Of course Tom said they didn’t do it. It cost me another 550 dollars to replace the seat cover.Make sure if you bring your vehicle here to take pictures before and after. Don’t leave this business without looking over your vehicle. If I could I would rate a big fat 0!

Toms shop has fixed my car on two occasions. Both times he was very easy to work with, provided me with updates as needed, and they did a great job. This last time my insurance company was involved and they cut off my rental car earlier than I needed. Tom worked to get my car ready in time despite delays with the parts coming in, and I didnt have to pay out of pocket for any rental car extension. The insurance company was stressful to deal with but Tom and his shop handled everything for me and made it a smooth process. I really appreciate it.

Had a fender bender with my SUV. Some small dents over the driver side rear wheel well and some large wide scratches to the plastic piece between the rear wheel and rear bumper.Took it in to see Tom the owner. He looked at the damage, asked me if I wanted to replace the rear bumper. There was only a 1-inch scratch on the corner of it, aside from previous wear and tear. I said no, that State Farm would more than likely not pay for that and I would rather have the plastic piece between the rear wheel and the bumper that was all scratched up to be replaced rather than just painted.He rode up the estimate that morning and I received it before noon. I forwarded it to State Farm. I also paid him extra to buff the entire SUV.When I pick the SUV up, it was clean inside and out. Cleaner than when I bought it. I was very impressed. Except I noticed the paint was a little off. It didnt match at the seam of the plastic part all the way up to the rear door. Very noticeable because my SUV is white. I mentioned it, Tom said the paint was fresh.The following weekend, I was putting wax on when I noticed sanding marks about eight inches or so above where the dents were on the fender. Then I noticed that the plastic piece between the rear wheel and the bumper was not replaced. It was painted over and you can still see the scratches on it. I then noticed that the bumper was replaced which I told him not to do. If the plastic piece was not on the State Farm estimate then he should have called me because we talked about replacing that part and he knew I wanted it replaced.Tom wanted to take the car and redo the paint at the seam where the discoloration was most noticeable. when I received the SUV back I was happy to see that the plastic piece looked like new and the color was correct. However, the new color was not applied all the way up to the door where the off color was sprayed on the original repair. So now I have an area next to the rear door where the paint does not match. On the white paint, it looks kind of like a suntan.It was nice of Tom to redo the repair and want to make it right, but he should have went over the entirety of the first repair rather than cutting corners on the redo.Bottom line, the repair should have been done correct in the first place. Replacing the scratched up part that we talked about, and of course being painted the correct shade of white, even if it meant keeping the car longer.

Stopped by to get an estimate on minor rust repair, with the intention of getting two more estimates. After meeting with Tom Vepley and seeing his shop I decided to skip the other two estimates and have the work done. Very pleased with result, on time would recommend them highly.

Do not bring your car here if you want quality work. I made that mistake. The paint job looks horrible, the headlights are not lined up, the body panels that were repaired rattle. Was told the owner isnt a mechanic and any work would cost additional money. The owner is a con artist and a liar. If you want your car repaired right? My car was hit in the rear, and crunched the frame of my car, like an accordion. The bumper was cracked bad, and the back doors wouldnt open anymore because they were pushed together to the frame of the car. I was referred by my moms friend to take my car here, and I am happy I took his advice. They fixed it all. There is no way possible you can tell I was in a car accident. They finished the car a week earlier than quoted. Tom is the owner I take it and he took the time to explain the steps it will take to get my car back and running. He skimmed past me and scratched the front end of my new Toyota Prius. He was so scared I felt sorry for him. So I let him go without calling the police or taking down his insurance information.Since I was paying out of pocket, I asked Tom to help me with the cost as much as he could. He was so kind and understanding, he gave me a great estimate (actually almost half I would have paid at an auto-shop 2 minutes from my home).The end result for me was a great repair job, money saved and a lifetime customer (including all my family) for Tom.

Just picked up my 2011 Jetta Black sportswagon from Tom today, His shop may be small but his results were huge. Its a black car and I ran over a semi tire on 94 messing up the bottom of my car pretty good. He made sure to show me everything and walked me through the process. I am very picky about my car and he was truly great at listening and explaining everything. He has great people skills and understands how important it is to do good work. I would highly recommend his services, from ding removal (which he also did for me) to paint work. My car is black and had a fender with a scratch that needed sanding and re-spray. The car came back looking perfect. He even washed and vacuumed the inside. Went over and above. I will be back (hopefully not soon!).

I have had my 2011 Toyota Avalon into this shop 4 times. Twice in 2.5 months for roof repairs. Once from a neighborhood kids friends thrown rock damage and one for my son backing the car out of the garage before the garage door was completely up. Tom is easy to work with, does great work, prices are lower than competition. I grew up around a body shop that my older brother managed from 1962-1994. Toms care reminds me of the personal service my brothers shop always provided. I have taken my previous cars to Tom in the last 10 years as well. I highly recommend Waukegan Gurnee Auto Body, although I could use a break from repairs for a while.

Tom, owner and manager, is unprofessional and argumentative. He did not stand by verbal agreements made. We had our car fixed after an accident. The paint did not match up and a gap was left between the bumper and tailgate light where I was hit. Tom quoted a final amount owed over the phone, then tried to charge $30 more when we went to pick up the car. On top of that, their credit card machine wasn’t working, so they insisted we’d have to leave to get cash if we wanted our car. It seemed to be one problem with another with Waukegan/Gurnee Auto Body. I would recommend doing more research and finding a body shop that is Better Business Bureau accredited.

I agree with another reviewer. Tom was impolite and defensive during our brief phone conversation. He quoted me $275 for tinting my two door civic. Thats exactly $100 more than two other places I called.
