When moving into my new apartment, I had purchased an incredible couch secondhand only to find out that when moving in no matter what I tried it would not fit in the door. After calling around and getting quotes from the various disassembly/re-assembly experts, I settled on Dr. Sofa and couldnt have made a better decision.Mohgr (Mo) not only arrived first thing in the morning to accommodate my schedule, but he was able to have the couch taken apart in the hallway and back together in my apartment in just over an hour. Steve Pella does an excellent job. He disassembled my sofa, bringing it up a very narrow Boston Row house staircase and put it back together. We found out during our move in that, to our horror/surprise, half of our large sectional couldnt fit in the service elevator or stairwell - we called Dr Sofa and they were able to come the next day (they offered to come same day but our building wouldnt allow use of the service elevator after 5pm). Yosef was amazing - on time, professional, super efficient, and fast! He legit sawed the couch in half, moved it upstairs to our apartment, and reassembled in less than 2hrs. It looks like nothing ever happened to it! This is an ABC Carpet & Home sectional too, so definitely an investment piece that we wanted to ensure looked and felt the same - and it does! From beginning to end we are overwhelmingly happy. After recently moving homes, we found out the hard way that a portion of our sectional couch would not make it down the stairs to the basement. Of course discovered couch didn’t fit in elevator afternoon of move. Was able to book appointment for next day. The sofa “deconstuctors” arrived on time and were done reconstructing in about 3 hours. They did a beautiful job. It was a bit pricey - $800 - but ultimately worth it.

Was in a complete bind and these guys really saved my couch. My movers werent able to maneuver my couch into the tight entryway to my new apartment and had to leave it outside. Wrapped in plastic. In the rain. Cue Dr. Sofa. Everyone was helpful, from the person who took my emergency call to the team who came to disassemble the couch. Julio and his partner came earlier than the given time frame, assessed the situation and got right to work outside in the rain. They worked efficiently and an hour later my poor, soggy couch was indoors and perfectly reassembled in my living room. Cannot thank them enough. They made a stressful day much more manageable.

We needed our couch disassembled and reassembled. I booked the service two months out to make sure they were available. After getting the contract signed, never heard back until I emailed about a week prior to service asking to confirm around what time it may be. They told me they appreciate me trying to move my schedule around but they could only tell me 9a-3p and would notify the day before of a more narrow window. The day of, I had to email them to ask what the window was as I never heard from them. They never scheduled us and said they did not update the date in the system so we were not put on their day schedule and trying for something the following day. We had to take off of work for the day they were coming since it was such a big window and now we had to take another day off? I called and spoke with Madeline who repeatedly yelled at me “This happens.” I could not even get a word in without being yelled at. No, this doesn’t just happen when this is part of your job to accurately schedule clients when the contract was signed and scheduled for a particular day. Her other response was “well we did not charge the card yet so it’s not our fault.” Absolutely absurd of how unprofessional this company is, especially their customer service when they messed up.

Great service - pricey but worth it for large expensive pieces of furniture. Julio and a helper did an incredible job taking apart an 8 foot restoration hardware leather couch that we could not move to another floor of our house -- it was definitely scary watching them take it apart, but I was amazed with their expertise and how quickly they worked. They were very methodical, did not damage anything, and cleaned up after themselves as they went. Before I knew it they had moved it and reassembled the couch PERFECTLY. You cannot even tell it was completely taken apart. Im amazed and def recommend!!

Emergency!! My Pottery Barn three piece sectional sofa arrives finally after many weeks of delays only to find out it doesn’t fit through my basement door. Not just one piece...all three pieces! The delivery guys suggested calling Dr. Sofa. Ever and Vinny came out that day and disassembled and reassembled all three pieces in the most careful manner possible. This is one of the most DISHONEST companies I have ever dealt with. DO NOT USE THEM. Prior to using them they lied and said the cuts would be slight and that they would touch it up with matching stain. Upon arrival, the worker said salesperson didnt know what they were talking about and the cuts would be extremely noticeable and that any touch up was going to extra. THIS WAS A BAIT AND SWITCH. Upon cancelling, they told me they would refund the money but then once again lied and never did. AGAIN DO NOT USE. VERY DISHONEST.

After a traumatic week where we couldnt get two large, custom, non-returnable bookcases into my clients elevator, we called Dr. Sofa. It cost a bit of money BUT they did the impossible, and took apart the bookcases (padded, covered in decorative nail heads) just enough to get them into the space. Super friendly. Super qualified. I purchased a headboard that was too large to go up my stairs . The delivery man after trying several different ways suggested that I call Dr. Sofa .I called Dr. Sofa and they were able to come the next morning . They took the headboard legs off put it back together and my bedroom looks beautiful . They were fast and efficient and very polite. I was pleased, It was expensive but worth it .

Although it was expensive, it was worth it for the quality and ease of service! I had a couch from Joybird that I couldnt fit into my apartment. Within 2 hours is had been disassembled and reassembled into my apartment! You could never tell the difference! It is just as sturdy and gorgeous as it was meant to be...I am very happy with it 😁

Living on Boulevard East and unless you are going through the front door its almost impossible to have a decent sofa due to the squared spiral stairs going up to the third floor after four years of having two loveseats I didnt care what it took I wanted to sofa on the third floor and I knew when I purchased my seven and a half foot sofa the likelihood of it getting up there without a miracle was not going to happen but I figured Id hoist it up or go to a neighbors door to get to my third floor no matter what we tried it did not work so I called dr. Sofa and within an hour it was upstairs assembled extremely professional props reliable another satisfied customer

I hired this company to take apart a large couch and put it back together bc it did not fit in my elevator. The technician arrived, measured my elevator prior to cutting my brand new couch.He measured to ensure it would fit in the elevator. After cutting the piece he informed me that it would not fit and that we would have to pay him an additional $200 to bring the pieces up the stairs.So the “professional technician” measured these pieces falsely and then blamed his mistake on the elevator and charged us extra. So we paid $200 on top of $600... $800 to bring up a $1000 couch. Unbelievable and terrible experience. Never again.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. Frank was awesome. He messed up a little, but someone named Madeline or Margaret really needs to try out a new line of work. Customer service aint working. We ended up paying $400 more than we expected.I want to be clear, the people who moved our sofa were awesome.

SHADY. Their customer service is horrible and their financial practices are unethical. I was charged an additional $235 three days after the service was rendered and paid in full. No charge had been discussed or agreed to, so when I followed up with Krystal (who handles all customer comms) to inquire about the charge, she sounded confused herself and could not reference any invoice or documentation explaining that charge. Eventually she got back to me stating the charge was for unmet COI requirements. That doesnt make sense. At no time was a COI ever mentioned nor was any damage incurred, so why would this cost money? After asking for clarification Krystal stopped responding. I am currently disputing this charge through my credit card company and its just another hassle on top of the move.

Just excellent. Hard to accurately describe in a few words just how brilliant these folk are. They came, they saw and they most definitely conquered (the 8 floors they had to walk up and the 8 sofa that refused to fit in the service elevator even when broken down). AND you just would not know that the sofa had been taken apart and put back together. I cannot recommend Dr Sofa highly enough.

We had a bed reupholstered and a dresser and two night stands re-finished. The service was prompt and professional. The guys came and disassembled the furniture and were very considerate and clean. When the furniture came back it was exactly what we wanted and again the guys came on time, assembled everything and put back the entire room as it was before. Great job! On moving day we called them after an hour of unsuccessfully trying to move our RH Sofa out of our apartment. This is the original and the one & only you should use for your upholstery and furniture fixes. We have been in business a long time and sometimes large sectionals will not fit into NYC apartment hallways/ stairways/elevators/doorways. If you forget to take out the tape measure, Dr. Sofa is one call way from saving the day.

When I moved to NY my sofa didnt fit in my the elevator or stairs of my building. When I heard about Dr Sofa I assumed it was only for cheap sofas that could obviously be taken apart. Eventually, after hearing good things from numerous people I decided to give them a try. I was scared to death to have my $6,000 custom sofa cut apart, but they did a fantastic job. The guys that came to do the job were professional and very nice. They explained to me how much training they go through before they are allowed to do a job solo. They removed the upholstery in the back, cut the wood frame, brought the sofa in my apartment piece by piece, then rebuilt it inside. I was sweating bullets the entire time, but it turned out perfect. No one would ever know it had been taken apart. This is a top notch company that I would definitely recommend.

We are very disappointed with DrSofa. Their repairman came and in half hour, gladly told us he fixed the sofa bed, and we got charged $200 and $210. We found out the sofa bed was not really fixed and it took several calls/weeks to get the repairman back to check it. He then told us the mechanism could not really be fixed and had to be replaced. We tried to get some refund but DrSofa director Madeleine dismissively said our sofa was too old to be fixed, and she would not honor warranty. Beware of this scam!

I have a $10,000 Restoration Hardware couch set that looks like a cheap awful knock off. The covers are too loose and make it look super sloppy and thats with having the couches on hand- they should have been perfect. Mind you this is the second attempt at the covers, the first round they took back because they looked so bad. These covers are nowhere near worth what I paid for them.Every step of this process after the first payment was awful-your sales rep never responds, customer service is never available and I missed 3 days of work because they kept messing up my pick and delivery dates.I honestly wish I would not have listened to the reviews- If I would have known that this was how things were executed at Dr. Sofa I would have never considered doing business with them.Seriously - save your money and go somewhere else.

I called Dr Sofa with a specific request to disassemble and reassemble a custom fabric couch unable to fit in an elevator and was quoted $695. At the end of service I was charged $1460 👀😡...The technician arrived at the apartment promptly after my initial call but only after more than an hour of the technicians attempt to disassemble the couch, I received a call from Stephanie requesting more money because the sofa was hand sewn which meant longer reassembly and the couch needed cutting/folding to the back and deck so it could be carried down the elevator rather than down the stairs which costs an additional $20 per floor per each detached piece. All this for a supposed additional $650. Still didnt add up since tax was included, yet my balance was $1460. The technician was capable and completed the service successfully but their billing practices felt so predatory. Buyer be aware of price gouging

Miracle workers! Switched a high end Italian couch from left L to right L format. Can’t figure out how they did it, but couldn’t be happier.

Said they would be at my apt between 7-9pm, a technician called at 8:30pm to tell me they wouldn’t get to me until after 10pm. Rescheduled for the following day 4pm-7pm, no show. Customer service doesn’t know where their technicians are, but has already charged me $375 for a service I haven’t received LOL. My couch is currently sitting in the hallway of my apartment building. The worst part is that I called last week to verify that they would be able to come. Worst customer service, worst experience. UNRELIABLE!

Too expensive. They are twice kore expensive than any other services on a market. $650 for the regular couch disassembled is way more expensive than expected.

I have contacted them multiple times over the course of 3 weeks now and have yet to get a quote or an appointment. For someone who is rated 1, I certainly disagree with the poor service and lack of service I have been given.

They said that they usually don’t do it on weekends so they charged me extra 60$ for weekend and extra $60 for travel time(which is not clear to me why since I live in Brooklyn. ) but nevertheless I organized my movers to bring sofa from warehouse at 9. Then Friday 5 pm I get voicemail saying that they needed to move appointment to 1 pm. So again I needed to reorganize my movers to come as late as possible so I don’t spend time waiting on technicians. Meanwhile they already charged me 470$ on Wednesday. At 1:30 no one shows and I am in lobby with sofa calling them 7 times. No one can give me any information or number of technicians. They supposed to send me confirmation email with his number but they never did. Technicians calls me at 2:30 pm saying that he will be there in one hour. They showed up at 5:15 pm. I had to bail out my job because no one could stay and watch sofa in the lobby. On top of that they charged me $200 extra for disassembly the arm because it couldn’t fit in elevator. (That was the problem in the first place. ) they never apologized or offered discount because of the wait time that occurred. I honestly wanted so bad for this to work out but I will never use them again nor I will ever recommend them to anyone. Super unprofessional and undertrained customer service.

I cant believe how well this process went. From disaster when we realuzed the couch would NOT go through the doorway, to success and having the couch in the living room and all in 24 hours! No damage to the couch. Cant even tell it has been taken apart and put back together. Thank you Dr Sofa

Expensive, but they came fast and took my couch apart and reassembled it inside my new apartment within 30 minutes. Very professional overall and will be using them again.

Considering we called them unexpectedly they showed up very late and did an awsome merticulous job and paid close attention they werent going to break anything while puting the sofa in the service elevator. I was really impressed by their vailant efforts!!!

Dr. Sofa was very much the best solution to an unexpected and stressful problem. Our RH sofa (9ft x 4ft) did not fit in any of the elevators or stairwells in our new place. We discovered this on a Saturday, and after calling Dr. Sofa the following Monday, I had an appointment with a technician scheduled for that week. The customer service reps took the time to walk me through the process and were very patient with an obviously stressed out customer. The technician - Diego - was professional, friendly, and meticulous as he worked through all the nuts and bolts of my piece.Unfortunately, there were problems in the quality of our sofa that I did not catch immediately after Diego put the couch back together in our new place. Its base wasnt perfectly aligned and there was a creak that was very noticeable. Upon calling Dr. Sofa, they were initially difficult to pin down in terms of their warranty, what options I had, and ultimately fixing the problem, but Madeline (the Managing Director) managed the process (and me) through to a solution and coordinated two different maintenance teams to help me get my sofa back to its peak form.I can tell that it was cut in half and put back together but no one else can and ultimately Dr. Sofa delivered on what they promised - my sofa sitting comfortably in my new living room with little to no sign of them ever have being there.
