Two terrible experiences here. Made an appointment online, when I got there they said they couldn’t do the work and I should have called rather than booked online.6 months earlier I ordered tires for install. Called ahead to confirm they had the tires. When I got there, they claimed they didn’t have them even though FedEx confined delivery.Staff couldn’t care less on both occasions.There won’t be a 3rd visit!
No auto store or items to purchase. Only a service station. This needs to be expressed online and on the sign outside. Waste of time.
They are rather busy. Some of them, however, move slow as molasses. Did not rotate my tires like he claimed, lied through his teeth. (I watched him the whole time.)Yet, best price on oil change around. Be sure to use the 30 percent off coupon.

I decided to come here after my brother had his brakes done on his SUV as well as some warranty work and heard about how well priced and quick they were. I scheduled the appointment online for new front brakes, rotors, brake flush, free tire rotation and alignment check. I left to run errands and they finished that job much quicker than expected. They recommended an alignment as well as new shocks and struts around (which I honestly was starting to hear a slight noise and some ride degradation, but I wanted to see if they would catch it, and they did, so they definitely inspected my car) They quoted me a great a price as well as it will be done in about 3 hours, which is was done before that. They also applied some discounts and coupons and saved me an additional $200 off the total quoted price. Will definitely return!

I want to start off by saying I am glad other people had good experiences there. I went there 7 years ago and watched on as it took someone 3 hours to change my oil. I decided to visit recently to update the tires on my car. I should of gone to COSTCO but pep boys had a better price. I have come to the conclusion that I rather pay a bit more and get better service. So Ryan helped me and he was great at reaching out and explaining everything. I left for a few hours and came back. I spoke to Fernando and asked about my car. He turned to Ryan and asked about my car rather than just ask the mechanic and had a not so great attitude about it. That could just be they way they handle things but that is not good Customer Service. The fact that it took 7 hours when I was told max 3 hours and I watched on as other people showed up and whispered to a mechanic and walked in first was very upsetting. The mechanic a little man who worked on the car was stopped spoken to and pulled away more than 10 times while he tried to put the tires on my car I wanted to just walk in and finish. I was being charged 800.00 for brakes and pads . That is outrages but maybe its a pep boys thing. As I watched on I think its just a management issue. Management is a big part of any organization. They seem to do good work. Yet if everyone is all over the place which they are and getting side tracked and not being focused it does cause a Customer Service issue. I did not see one person walk out content with their experience and many people were complaining inside.
Tire service only now, theyve closed their as tore area though you can still see it behind the boxes.Buy three tires and get one free sometimes is the deal.

I had a 10:00 appointment to get 2 tires changed and it’s now 12:24 and I’m still waiting here. People have come and gone long before me and they just keep ignoring my vehicle and my appointment. Very doubtful that those 10 people before me all had appointments. They should honor their appointments and make the walk ins sit here for 2 hours. I’m furious and will never give them my money again. My cars been in the lot ready for at least 10 minutes and they’re still ignoring me.....
If you go for service, you have to be careful to get the right person to assist at the counter. Some will over charge you immediately and by hundreds of dollars. I have great luck with one member and I have worked with all associates at the counter. One tried to charge me over $1200 more that the job was worth so I went to another PepBoys with his quote and received a fair price $1200 less. If you are Lucky there is one of the managers that will get the job done with a fair price. His name I will not reveal but you will know when you work with him. He is not cutthroat, and will work with you in getting your vehicle fixed properly. He is very respectful and know who you are when you work with him. Also, make sure that whatever the Mechanics do, they put everything back together properly. Some have been there too long and does not respect your vehicle. I am missing screws for paneling, etc. They are not the best but they can get your car fixed. The cost is another story.
Well I was surprised to learn that Pep Boys has decided to end retail store sales on my recent visit. However maintaining the (Service - Repair) bays. Closing the auto part Retail sales section - misguided.During many of my car service appt.Ive taken advantage of purchasing many other automotive products while waiting on my car service tobe completed. As well as many other Pep customers who took advantage purchasing items for their cars while waiting for their cars.The retail store will be closing by end of nxt wk. Everything currently 50% off!!
I come to Pep boys for the more serious issues with my truck, they’re fast, and affordable. Recently I just had to get four new Cooper 275/60R20’s and other places were quoting $900+ but Pep came in at $700 with a sale they were having and free installation. Definitely a better deal for a decent tire that isn’t high performance.
They took me for an oil change despite being short staffed due to the holiday and at the last minute. When no one else would take me in Jersey City, this Pep Boys delivered.

I was very very dissatisfied with the whole experience. I dont know if its because of covid or they dont pay what people deserve but to do their jobs. My car was there for a day and a half and thank God the work wasnt done. The repairs were way over what was normal, well over TWICE of what I found. I dont recommend going to this shop unless you cant avoid it.

I called for an oil change and to my surprise they still had my first car on record from 26y ago. Little nostalgia that made me smile. Anyways the counter was friendly got me checked in right away. Guess total time spent was 30min. Not bad at all. They respected my property and got me out no hassle at all. Nothing bad at all to say and the price was in line with a jiffy lube.
Dropped my car off for an oil change and tire rotation. Receive a call that the tires need to be replaced and that they have a special. I checked the tread before dropping the car off and they were absolutely fine, just needed a rotation. Then had to argue at the location that they need to rotate the tires which eventually happened an caused me to wait an hour. They just wanted to make a sale on tires and was a major inconvenience.
How person can feel after visiting this place? I came to fix specific problem in my car. They gave me a price and time (one hour) to fix this problem. After one hour and 30 minutes when I came to take my car, they gave me a list with many different problems with price six times more then the beginning. I took my car to another place . That happened not first time. I never will come back here.
Took my car there and I was charged for something else that was fine but the problem was never fixed. They actually broke the engine cover. Do yourself a favor and dont go there, they are crooks

Great place to get your car serviced. Just bought my Chevy Travese off my lease. It needed a new battery. Shopped it around and Pep Boys had an excellent price which included installation. Online had a coupon so I used it. Set up an appointment and went in on a Saturday morning. The service advisor Luis let me know that the battery I choose would work, because the battery is located inside the car and it is recommended not to get a lead acid battery and get glass (just look it up). Plus installation will cost more since it in the vehicle not under the hood which was free. You may feel that youre getting up-sold to buy a more expensive item, but he was right. So instead of a 3 year battery, I got a 4 year. After installation and such, it should have cost more than $200. Came in at $160 after he applied all sort of discounts for me. Then he recommended getting the Pep Boys calendar which he included in the price. The calendar has a QR code that you scan and it texts you coupons.During the battery service, the tech did notice that the tires were at 3/32 which means that are almost done with their useful life (bald tires are 2/32). Pep Boys was/is running a promotion to buy 3 tires, get 1 free plus free installation. Luis said wait on the calendar since sometimes they send a coupon for buy 2 get 2 free but you pay for installation. Now depending on your car, it makes sense to buy 2. In my case, I have 20 tires so they were $179 each. Installation is $125. Worked out. Sure enough, went back 2 weeks later and had Cooper adventurer tires put on with an alignment (you should have this done when you change tires or once a year in the NJ area, confirmed this with Goodyear Tire in Englewood). 4 tires with installation, alignment package good for 3 years of alignments and tire protection for the life of the tires was $737. Then if you get a Pep Boys credit card, you get $50 off immediately and a $50 rebate to mail in. Total $637. Not bad, not bad at all.The tech noticed a pump leak but thats covered under the cars warranty. Also noticed that I have about 1,000 miles left on front brakes and rotors (I thought they were already shot). They can do that for $432. Go price check that and youll see that is about right if not cheaper. Will be going there next week for that. I havent owned a car in 25 years. I lease and get new. This one I kept and Pep Boys will be my service people from now on. Glad I gave them a try.
Went and took my car for a checkup since my front tire was screeching. Was attendees very quickly and Osmani checked out my car. Took the time to do a quick test drive with me around the parking lot. Turns out my breaks were just fine. The brake check was complementary and the team never tried to sell me anything. 100% Trustworthy mechanics, I’m coming back here for sure and telling everyone I know!
I called the store told them what I needed and specified what I needed. I said dual piston caliper. The guy said I got it I got it.... pretty sure he didn’t check. Take the caliper off my car I knew better but I didn’t wanna bring the core back to find out he doesn’t have it after you telling me you do. I’ve work for in dealerships and managed auto parts stores. I know why people don’t like pep boys, Autozone and advanced didn’t have the part but at least they checked and made sure it was a dual piston caliper I was looking for

If i could give my experience 0 stars to half a star i would. I was somehow sold defective tires at a different location and bought the insurance. Ive been to this store multiple times to try and get them fixed or replaced.But to no avail, theyre constantly deflating and they never provide a fix. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I went to Pep Boys Auto in Hackensack to have my car serviced and I received assistance from a young lady who works there by the name of Rosanna. Not only was she very polite and friendly, but she also took the time to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the service that I received on my car. I will definitely be going back there again in the future if I need to for any additional service and I also recommend anyone who needs to have their car serviced to go there as well.

I developed a flat tire and brought it in to see if they could change it. Unfortunately, my specific tire was not in stock. I went to another store to get the tire. I brought back my car and they changed and rotated the tires within an hour. The staff and associate I dealt with was very courteous, professional, and helpful! I highly recommend this store for any automotive needs! Thank you for being so accommodating!!
I am giving a 5 star rating to this pep boys because they have helped fix out cars all for a cheap and fair price. Had multiple bug jobs done for two cars and they are always running brand now and on top shape. It is very convenient it is so close and the mechanics and staff are really great people who know what they are doing. Always confident when making a purchase for needed parts.

The service provided by the employee there was very poor. I asked employees a questions and they were sending me to different people. When finally got to were I thought I was going to get help the person told me she did not know about the ratios. I was on my own and finally didnt buy the ratio. First time in a pepboys store and was disappointed.
Kudos to the entire PepBoys Staff and Rossana whom kept me honestly updated to the status of the vehicle repair. Sorry it took me so long since Pep Boys of Hackensack had my jaguar running like NEW! Wasn’t sure if I should take the car to the dealership that would have cost so much as most already know. Not to mention appointments backed through the roof. It did however take time to locate the part..but this is understandable (after all a 17 year old vehicle that only uses specific parts) with that said. The wait was worth it, because now at this point it has never sounded better- thank you. You guys really came through when I needed it the most! I highly recommend everyone to use these guys for any type of auto repairs. Absolutely, satisfied and will be returning again if needed.
If I could give this store less than one star I would. I had made an appointment for 2pm and when I arrived, I had to explain what I needed done on my car THREE SEPARATE TIMES before even handing over my keys. All there times the prices changed until finally a mutual understanding was met, or so I thought. I waited for 4.5 hours watching walk ins come and go while I waited hour after hour for a tire change and simple inspection of the motor on the back windshield wiper that should have taken no more than an hour. After the third hour of patiently waiting I finally stood in front of the counter to make my presence known and realized so many employees standing around, on their phones, or just lounging around talking while clearly on duty. Eventually after 40 minutes of standing directly in view I was asked to go into the garage and take a look at my car only to see that what I had asked to be done was not even CLOSELY matched. I had said specifically to replace my normal tires with my snow tires in my hatchback already mounted, bolts & lock were handed in with the keys along with the hub ring they had previously broken the last time. They removed the bolts from my original tires and replaced it with my snow tire ones. Once I explained for a FOURTH time what I needed to get done, it was it finally accomplished (after another hour of waiting). When I received my key back they told me my rims must have been scratched while they were in the back seat of my car because they were on top of each other. However, this was impossible seeing as the rims were no where close to scratching each other and were scratched by something yellow and rusty seeing as the color discoloration on said scratches. This clearly happened in the garage and was blamed on me. They didnt even check my windshield wiper like I had asked as well. Waste of time and money and damaged rims costing me over $285. I am a young girl but I know my cars, was totally taken advantage of and will not be returning.

Visited this location on 2/5/2020, 8am.I called in yesterday to see if I could make an appointment for a car oil change the day before and was advise it would not be a problem if I dropped off the car at 8am since the store opens at 7:30am. Fine I took off from work.I came in promptly and the representative said my car would be ready in 45min. Great! So I walked next door to Costco to pass time.I showed up 40mins later and saw my car STILL parked on the lot (same spot) and a mechanic was on his way to drive my car in the garage. WHY? I calmly walked into the wait area and checked with the representative who took my vehicle. 10 mins later he told me it would be another 15min. So total time for an oil change should be 1 hour and 5 min. Frustrating!Time is valuable and I made other appointments for the day already. It is very inconsiderate to stall and not stay on top of your job to ensure everything is running smoothly. It would have been helpful to know the garage was running up to 1 hour behind schedule. It doesnt matter if there are only two mechanics and the team is backed up. Dont over book and take in appointments if you cannot honor your words. Be upfront about wait time. Most importantly, why are you constantly on your phone? I had to remind the representative to check in my car 20 min later, only to find out I had to wait an additional 15 min.Total wait time: 1 hour 25 min$80+tax for synthetic pennzoil oil.I have to admit that the last 3 oil changes were with these guys, but each time the service is going Downnhill.They claim to have checked my tire pressure, that is a LIE! My pressure meter was still reading with LOW pressure. Now Ill just get the pressure fixed on my own.I will not return again and support their business at this location anytime soon.Be aware, they do not line your car seats and floor mats with paper. I noticed when they picked up and dropped off my car.

Terrible experience. On a Sunday morning I got a flat tire. I called Pep Boys knowing they would be open. The guy on the phone told me that if I were a rewards member that I could get $25 off my towing of $50 to tow my car to their store. He then quoted me a price on a set of Cooper tires with buy three get one free. When I finally got to the store, over an hour after the quoted time by Pep Boys contracted tow company, the sales rep told me that they don’t do the $25 off of $50 towing anymore but would cost me $75 (3x what I was expecting to pay!) and that the tires I was quoted were the wrong size and I would have to purchase a more expensive set of tires. I was angry because I felt that I was lied to about the towing in order to get me to the store. The tires that I needed were not buy three get one free and had no deals on them. If I had known this I would have gone somewhere else. The sales rep gave me the $25 off my towing as a courtesy with my situation, which I appreciated. When I got to the store later to pick up my car, there was no one in the tire department to help anyone. I asked one gentleman for help and awhile later someone wearing a white shirt came to the desk. When I was paying, the price seemed higher than quoted. I told him I wanted to see the breakdown before I agreed to pay. He printed it out and brushed past me saying “I’m going to help this other person so we can close on time.” That was extremely rude! I couldn’t believe it. The guy I worked with earlier came out while I was looking at my costs and he adjusted my price down, though not as low as I thought he had said before. From beginning to end this was the worst experience I have ever had getting my car serviced. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Pep Boys and will never return! First they lie to get you in the store then they give Horrible service!

Good price, friendly service and quality tires. Im not usually one to write a review or even about a franchise business, but i was well taken care of today and felt Id share. The service manager Paul F. Is a good guy. Bring him a GOOD cup of coffee and say hi.
If I could give this location and their manager Marc Caramucci a 0 I would but google doesnt allow that. Stay away from here as most of these reviews have said. I am guessing any positive reviews come from simple jobs that Marc has asked the customer to review for him. This place damaged my car while it was in their lot, the manager said they would get back to me never did they recieved ample time to review the video however Marc never got back to me as he promised. Mind you, my vehicle was towed there and all damage was listed by tow company. The new damage was not. Lets get to the service they did, I have been there over 4 times because their mechanics fail to connect wires properly or install the piece the right way. Then they do such a shoot job that they pinch other wires in my car. Let me get back to the tow company, when the tow guy came he said this always happens with them, I bet they left wires lose and sure enough he lifts the hood and shows me, he jumps my car and call corporate to complain about the work they did. As protocol, he had to tow the car. I have contacted my lawyers. This is a waste of time.

The WORST. 3 Times in the last few years with a flat tire, and EVERY SINGLE time they claim the tire cant be fixed and try and sell you an over priced tire, then try and add extra services. a SHAM. Go to GOODYEAR and theyll fix your flat for FREE. IF you need a tire patched, Dont go there, not to mention youll be waiting 3 hours!
Fair pricing on the oil change. Made unnecessary recommendations on things I already recently did, they probably checked off suggestions from a computer.
PepBoyssssss does everrryything for less. My go to place for certain products that only they would have.

Julian, in the service area, is wonderful. He’s honest and professional. Every staff member is great to work with, they all see genuine and so sincere in helping. They’re always busy because they do great work, so leave your car and come back or be prepared to wait.
Service was good they explained mostly everything but they failed to inform me about one part which was over $200 (they make their money off of parts).

Made an appointment online. Itemized the items needed to be checked in a box which was required to fill at the time of making appointment. Arrived the shop on time, and was told they didn’t have any mechanics to check the car. An explanation from a girl at the check-in counter: “we don’t know which and how many mechanics will be working in the shop each day, and there is nothing we can do about it”. Speechless..., accepting appointments when there is no mechanics available. Their entire operation should be reconsidered.Continues. They told they could check one of the items I listed. Waited for an hour. The same girl came to me and said they couldn’t check the car..., and zero apology. Wasted three hours dealing with these useless people. Never come back and don’t recommend to anyone.

This is an update to my review: Had a better experience with store manager Chris who helped find the issue and fix and explained my original problems. I changed my 1 star to 4 stars for an awesome change and time of service from the mechanic Kym who helped as well. They still need to improve on the follow up on customers but GREAT with the time of service completions and going above and beyond to make sure all is happy with the customer. Chris even did a ride in the truck with me to make sure I was happy and it was a smooth ride. I will be calling today for more service request (unrelated) but I was so impressed that I would recommend and use their service again!

I went there to change my battery, they check my batery and one of mechanic told the alternator must be replace too, i told him i need only batery and i will observe the alternator first before i do replace but the mechanic forcing me to do so alternator if i not replace the alternator same day they not giving warranty for the battery But i refuse i ask him why you forcing me to do alternator to change and he threatening to not giving a warranty for the battery so i decide to accept my consequence. Now my car still running ang my alternators is not defective bec. I went to other mechanic to check my alternayor they say i still good charging and i show them the diangnost result fr. Pepboy and they said alternayor is fine.so not of them is good mechanic they making a money they no helping you to fix your car they want only business fr. the customer.
The worse place to take your car. I brought my two cars for oil change and tire fix. None of my car have the tire fixed because they couldn’t find the nail. They put the tire back so tied, that is imposible for me to take the tire off to put the spare one. I ended up paying 164 (82 each) just in oil change and my tires still not fix. The air they put in my tire is gone and is my tire is flat again. Now car is on the street with a flat tire that I can’t fix anymore and I will have to pay a truck to pick my car up. Think twice and then think again before you take your car there.

Front desk associate at the service desk was rude when I called and came in-person about a flat tire repair. I understand the concern about replacing a flat on an all wheel drive car but he was telling me I needed to replace all 4 of my tires for 1 flat. I called around other locations for advice and was told not all 4 needed to be changed on my relatively brand new car. He refused when I asked him about replacing the rear 2 wheels only. Would not recommend this place in a pinch.
Scammers. I had a hitch installed which they seemed to have done well. They called me to let me know that numerous other parts in my car were broken and asked if I wanted to repair, I said no. Took the car to my trusted mechanic and he said there was nothing wrong with my car. This is inexcusable behavior.
We visited in the morning to change the engine oil. A woman told us it took an hour and we waited from 10 to 11, but our car was still waiting in the parking lot. Eventually we put up with it and protested, and only then they moved and offered to change the engine oil. I felt like they were discriminating against us and the service was too bad. These bad places, no one cares about, will never come again.
Awesome customer service! Mark checked my car in as soon as I walked in and explained couple of different options for the products they offer. my car was in and out within 30 mins to replace the battery. Mark followed up to make sure everything went well. Great service!! Keep up the good work guys!! will definitely return and recommend this place!!
“Leonarado” was rude & spoke to me a female like I didn’t know what I was talking about. Saying “We are not going to fix your tire because you said so” after me explaining I paid for warranty & road side hazard & had only had my new tires for 2 months after they repeatedly losing air.
